Ember
Bonding with a mate who doesn’t even know your name is a bad idea.
But that’s exactly what happened to her.
Cash Montoya doesn’t even know she exists.
He’s the local star, his guitar and his voice calling to her beast since the very first time she heard his songs.
She writes him letters. Anonymous, of course.
And when she finally finds the courage to tell him the truth, he thinks she’s lying.
He’s holding onto the vendetta that has been plaguing their families for decades.
But her beast has chosen. She’ll make him see that they belong together.

Cash
He’s more beast than man.
The only way to keep his beast at bay is by playing music. And by reading the mysterious letters sent by an anonymous fan.
When that fan turns out to be Ember Barnes, he doesn’t want to believe it. He can’t.
He doesn’t trust the Barnes family. They’ve been an enemy of the Montoyas before he was even born.
But his beast seems to have different ideas.
It wants him to claim her. To make her theirs.
He wants it, too. But first, he must survive her father’s wrath.

This second instalment could be read as stand alone as we are still discovering the universe but i would not recommend it. I think it's much better read in order also to see the potential of the story.
I liked this story but i did not feel like it was the same quality as book 1...it's not bad at all but first there are a lot more steamy scenes, very graphic and it was not that needed so good for those loving that but may deter some others.Mostly i several time felt like i missed something, like we were jumpring from a scene to another without a link between them so it sometimes felt disjointed.

That aside i loved Cash and Ember, they are perfect for each other.....Ember knows the difficulties when dragon and man are not in syncro and she is ready to fight for her mate. Cash had a even more difficult past that what we could have imagined and as a result he mostly see his dragon side as an ennemy and they are fighting insted of working together...but with Ember for the same time both have the same goal: to protect and make her happy so he can start to learn to love himself.

I'm loving marjory Barnes more and more. She sure made errors but now she is definitively on the side of the younger generations, trying to help them find their happiness even if it's within the clan she was she was told to hate. Logan is also an attentive clan leader

so even if this instalment disappoined me a little i can't wait to continue the serie

Another great installment of this fascinating series. Ember and Cash get their turn at romance this time, but they certainly have a rocky start. The emotions behind the storyline had me reaching for the tissues and I was feeling every one of them along with the characters. This book kept my interest from start to finish, but it was definitely better that I had read Conquered Destiny first to enable me to understand the family feud. Wonderful read.

This is the second book in the series and relates to the mating bond between Cash and Ember and had, what I consider to be, too much angst. That said, I don’t know if it’s the same amount as was in book 1 which I didn’t notice because there was more humour?

Cash is a Montoya dragon and lives in fear. Fear that his beast is one day going to become stronger than his human half and that he will lose himself to the beast. Because of that fear, he has never really shown any interest in a mate because he doesn’t believe he will be around for long. That’s why when he started to get letters from an anonymous source, he made no attempt to find them. Ember is a Barnes dragon and she has fallen in love with Cash from afar. She is also the author of the anonymous letters he has been receiving for the last 3 years.

One night, Ember approaches Cash and decides to reveal the fact that she is the author of the letters. Despite being able to quote a line from a line word for word, Cash dismisses her because she is a Barnes. Although Ember has recruited her sister Teagan and her cousin Baylee to her cause, she feels she’s involved in a losing battle. Not just because of Cash’s distant but because of her interferring father Callum who chooses to continue the feud.

Baylee’s mother and brother play a part in getting Cash and Ember together and her mother’s failed attempt to stab Callum when he pushes her too far is actually quite comical and not what I expected.

It takes a while for Cash to acknowledge that he and Ember are true mates but despite that understanding, he still tries to stay away from her… believing that his beast will take control eventually. In contrast to Gale and Baylee where it was instant attraction and lust, the love between Cash and Ember is a slow burner. We learn a little bit more about Logan and how the Montoya clan has split in 3 separate clans but I suspect the stand off between Logan and Quincy won’t last forever. The books are easy to read and follow on from the previous one so I strongly recommend they are read in the correct order.

There once were two families of dragon bloodlines who lived close to each other. A couple of generations ago it was believed that the head of the Montoya family was betrayed by his mate from the Barnes family line. This dragon, Logan, could not live with his broken heart so he burrowed into the family-owned mine tunnels to stay until his death, so they say. From that moment on the two families were bitter enemies, avoiding each other's property and sharing the nearby town as neutral territory. Now a Montoya and a Barnes have mated and both families are upset. Only the threat of what a war between them could mean to their survival stops violence from happening. And now that Logan has returned and set up a new clan with these two mated dragon shifters, how quickly can he catch up on the modern world, and will he ever take control of his old clan again and depose Quincy, a cold-hearted elder who took over when Logan burrowed. Also, what will happen to Ember Barnes, who has loved Cash Montoya for three years anonymously, when she declares herself the writer of the letters Cash has been receiving. Cash has trouble controlling his dragon who wants to take over and bury Cash forever. Will he ever admit he has fallen in love with the writer of the letters? Will the families stop the lovers? Will Cash survive his dragon's plans? It is themed similar to the first book of the series but the protagonists are very different from the first book. The emotion comes through strongly but it is an easy read and very enjoyable.

Loved the second story in the series. It takes up right where the last book left off, only this time we get Cash's and Ember's story.

Ember Barnes has been sending anonymous letters to Cash Montoya for years. His music touches a place inside her that nothing else comes close to reaching. After her cousin Baylee's dramatic escape from their family's expectations, Ember has decided it is time to reveal her identity to Cash and hope for a similar happy ending. Unfortunately, Cash doesn't believe her and leaves her vacillating between peeved and heartbroken. How is she going to convince him that she has formed some kind of messed up mate bond with him if he thinks Baylee and Gale are behind her knowledge if the letters?

Cash and his dragon are engaged in a battle that rivals the one between the Barnes and Montoya families. Ever since he watched Quincy kill his father, Cash has been broken inside. Only his music seems to make his dragon stop fighting him for dominance. The music and the unsigned letters he has been receiving from a fan for years. When Ember Barnes tells him she is the author of those letters he doesn't want to believe her, because if she is telling the truth he is going to have to decide whether to follow his cousin Gale's example or refuse the bond and succumb to his dragon's wrath.

I was given an advanced copy of this book by the author. My review is voluntary.

The Barnes and Montoya clans have been fighting for generations after and ill fated relationship fell apart. No one knows exactly what happened, but each side knows that the other is responsible. Ember Barnes knows that she cannot trust Cash Montoya but what is she to do with the fact that they are mated…and he doesn’t even know? Both Cash’s dragon and his music call to her, so when she tells him the truth she believes that they will finally be able to be together. But Cash doesn’t trust the Barnes family. Can his dragon convince him that Ember is meant to be theirs? Can he overthrow generations of hatred to be with the one person who is meant to be his?

This continuation of the Great Plains Dragon Feud series adds to the story that was started in book 1, Conquered Destiny. There are more steamy scenes than we got in book 1, but that makes sense because in the first book everything was forbidden and had to be hidden. Book 2 allows for more room for steam…and boy, Cash and Ember really do burn up the pages! And there is a lot more emotion overall, as Ember allows herself from the beginning to acknowledge how important Cash is to her and her dragon. There were a number of areas where I started tearing up reading about Ember’s longing for Cash. Another great read!

Ember has been writing anonymous loves letters to Cash Montoya for a few years forming a bond with a mate that doesn’t even know her name.
When he performs, he calls to her beast so she bucks up the courage to tell him that she is the one writing the letters, but he calls her a liar and walks away. The Feud between their families has caused so much damage for decades, but she and her dragon have chosen Cash, they just need to convince him.
Cash is more beast than man, each day is a fight to survive, with his dragon trying to take over. Music and the letters from a fan are the only things that help him win over his dragon. He knows that if his dragon wins, he will be lost.
When that fan turns out to be Ember Barnes, he doesn’t want to believe it. He can’t.
He doesn’t trust the Barnes family, so when Ember tells him she wrote the letters, he calls her a liar, she’s the enemy but his beast has other ideas. She understands Cash’s beast but isn’t sure she wants a life with constant conflict and then her father steps in to warn Cash away. Ember is furious with her father but Cash can’t help but listen.
This was a brilliant read, Ember and Cash are wonderful characters, both drawn to and repelled from each other making this a great read.

Omg this is the second book in the new series and I’m hooked and it’s been a while that a shifters book has kept me captivated and spell bound from being to the end. Cash Montoya has struggled to keep his dragon beast under control for a long while now and with the help from his cousin Gale and his music and these mysterious letters it has worked out ok but Gale has a mate Baylee now and she is a Barnes female and a sworn enemy to his clan, so now his music and the fan letters he is getting is just helping for now. Ember Barnes has always had a difficult relationship with her father Callum and his demands on her so she got a job at bar and moved out. The first time she heard Cash sing she was in love and her inner dragon agreed so for 3yrs she has been writing him letters anonymously but the time has come to tell Cash it’s been her all along and it doesn’t go down well because of the vendetta between the two Clans but Cash’s dragon want Ember and fights Cash on this over and over until he realises she is his mate but the biggest problem they will face will be her after Callum and his hatred for the Montoya Clan. Can they have a future together and break the feud between them both or does Embers father kill Cash for touching his daughter. Get this amazing book to find out what happens next.

I received this book with the understanding that I could leave a voluntary and honest review.

In the book we meet Ember Barnes and Cash Montoya. When this book opens we find that cash is again reading a letter from an anonymous fan. He finds it is one of the few things that sooth his dragon. So when he gets to the bar he does the only other than that also appeases his dragon and that is music. Little does he know that the person writing him these letters is none other than Ember Barnes. He doesn't car if his brother has fallen for a Barnes woman he is determined not to do the same thing, especially with how close of control he must keep on his dragon. Ember can't believe 1 she actually told Cash it was her writing the letters. and 2 put her heart out there for him to stomp all over. Not matter how much her dragon wants her to be near him her heart isn't sure she can take it. One look in his eyes however have her wondering if there is more to this man/dragon than meets the eye. She knows they aren't on the same page and also knows if they don't get there they will destroy them both. Can these two find a HEA or will the fear of the unknown make that impossible?

Another amazing book in this series. The emotions these characters have will draw you in and not let go. I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.

This is the second story in the Great Plains Dragon Feud series. I was unable to put it down once I started reading. I knew from the first story that Cash had his demons, I also knew that Ember had a thing for him and he didn't know. I didn't realize the depth of their connection, they were both already in love, just one of them didn't realize with who. Cash was in love with whoever had been sending him letters but since Ember didn't sign them, he refused to believe it was her. What he couldn't deny was the connection he felt around her and the way his dragon yearned for her.

Cash is one of the most complex shifters I've read about. His problem is not unique, however, the way the solution comes about is. I loved the dynamic between Cash and Ember, also the dynamic between Cash's dragon and Ember. Usually, there is a little butting heads, but the complete separation was intriguing. I loved it.

Readers also get to see a bit more about the feud but we don't really learn that much new information. I was left wondering what Quincy was up to because we know he's not going to sit back and do anything. Can't wait for the next! I have some pairings I really hope happen.

The addition starts with the book cover….yeah…yeah…yeah don’t judge a book by its cover they say ….well we all do it and this one here it is the scratch to your itch or better yet the filling to your oreos! Speaking of filling…..wait, that’s for later. Within the first chapters you get the panoramic view of whom you’re dealing with! This is book is part of the Conquered Destiny series why just read one when you can start at the beginning and keep reading through the series it won’t be a waste of time. Ember is sweet, believes in love, she wants to be with the man of her dreams however, the feud between their families forcing her to write anonymous letters just to keep in contact with him. Cash is a sexy as all get out dragon fighting for control of his dragon and only his music and the anonymous are keeping him sane. The moment Embers tells him who she is and that they are mated to be together he doesn’t believe her simply because of her family but his dragon knows she belongs to him. That darn an ancient family feud is still negatively impacting the possibility of romantic relationships, now between Cash and Ember will they work past it to be together and can they find happiness despite it all?

He plays the music that touches her soul

A Song of Destiny is the second book in the Great Plains Dragon Feud series and I enjoyed this very entertaining and smexy story. It is about Cash and Ember and boy is their story interesting. Cash stays sane because of the music he makes, his cousin and letters he has been receiving from a female fan. He does not know who is writing to him but whoever it is has captured his heart. Ember works in a bar and when she first saw Cash she fell for his music but also him. But the only thing she could do is write him anonymous love letters as their families have been feuding for centuries.
Will these two find their way to each other and heal their broken hearts while making beautiful music between them? Or will they let a feud that they did not start keep them away from each other?
This is another wonderful book. Both Cash and Ember are beautifully written and you just keep hoping that they finally get together and have a HEA that is worthy of their love.

This book is #2 in the Great Plains Dragon Feud by Emilia Hartley. We finally get to see the story of Cash Montoya, an intense character from Book 1-Conquered Destiny. A beast who uses music to drown out his pain, Cash struggles with his dragon and the only calm he gets is from reading a stash of letters he has been receiving anonymously over the years. Could the person writing these letters be his "one". Possibly, but he has to find her first. Ember Barnes in love with Cash , but their families have been feuding a long time, and despite the recent marriage between two members of the opposing families ( Gale and Baylee from Bk 1, Conquered Destiny), things are still tense. She finally believes there is a chance for them, as long as Cash opens his eyes and sees what is right in front of him. This story is about seeing what is right in front of you and grabbing it. It is about a girl who needs to find her fire and a boy who believes his dragon is a monster. Can you fight destiny and win? Or as Ember believes :... would [she] always be too far behind him for them to ever be in the same place."

Can Love Survive The Storm?

Cash Montoya has fought his dragon his whole life. He has finally learned to keep it somewhat under control with his music, but it’s a delicate balance. When his cousin mates a Barnes from their rival clan and she moves in with them that balance is destroyed. Even his music isn’t working anymore.

Ember Barnes has loved Cash from afar for years but she knew nothing could come of it because of the age old feud between their clans. When her cousin mated with Cash’s cousin, she thinks there might be hope. She approaches Cash and finally tells him of her feelings. He rejects her but his dragon has other ideas! Even if he wanted to he could never be with her. Her father would kill him.

Can these two lovers ever figure it out and help end the feud? Can Ember calm his dragon before he looses control? This is book two in the series and a wonderful read. I can’t wait for book three!

This story is a fantastic addition to this series!! Cash and Ember are amazing characters!! Just like with Gale and Baylee (from Book 1), you really find yourself rooting for these two ♥️ I feel so bad for Ember, with Cash’s initial reaction, to her secret!! Ember doesn’t give up very easily though, and it’s a good thing, because Cash is a strong character, too!! I really love the world of these shape shifting dragons, that Emilia has created 💙 It’s very interesting to see the characters, from the feuding Barnes and Montoya Clans, navigating their desires to wanting to be with each other ♥️
Cash makes the most beautiful music, that really speaks to Ember. She writes him anonymous love letters. When she finally confesses to him, Cash doesn’t believe Ember, because she is a part of the Barnes Clan. His sworn enemy. Soon he can’t really deny this beautiful girl that has kept him going, via her letters…..
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK 💙

Cash struggles to control his dragon but Ember has a bond with him.
Dragon shifter Cash Montoya has been fighting his dragon side since he was a child and thinking he will eventually go feral making feel unsafe around others. He plays music that helps sooth and control his beast. Since he started performing at the local bar year before he has received anonymous fan letters which he greatly values. Dragon shifter Ember Barnes has never felt she could live up to what her father expected of her especially as although her dragon has sparks in its throat it does not produce flame which has him consider her an inferior dragon. The first time she had heard Cash sing she had been walking past the bar and has written him a letter every time she has heard him since and over time has realized that a bond had formed but the Barnes and the Montoya have had a feud going for many years.

This is a NON-SPOILER REVIEW of A Song of Destiny, the second book in the Great Plains Dragon Feud series by Emilia Hartley. I absolutely love this series! The feud between the Montoya and the Barnes clans has been raging for generations... until this generation. First Asher and Baylee began paving the wave towards peace, but this feud has been raging too long and there are those that just won't let it go. Ember and Cash are the next victims of the feud. Will Ember's father Callum kill Cash? Will Cash's dragon take control and banish his human side? Will Cash believe that he can find love with a Barnes woman? Action, drama, heavy emotions (grab a BOX of tissues!), steamy chemistry, humor and brilliant plot twists make this a heart thumping read. Reading these books in series order definitely enhances the read. WARNING: THIS SERIES IS HIGHLY ADDICTIVE AND WILL EVOKE STRONG EMOTIONAL RESPONSES!

A SONG OF DESTINY is the second installment in Emilia Hartley's Great Plains Dragon Feud series. Ms. Hartley is a talented author that brings us characters that are headstrong, compassionate, funny, sad and determined in this entertaining steamy read.

The Montoyas and the Barnes families have taken dislike to a whole new level. Only a neutral town separates their lands and famiies. Tension has been strong since Baylee and Gale risked the anger of both families by being together. But when Ember Barnes starts talking to a Montoya who knows what will happen.

Ember Barnes has known Cash Montoya is her mate as long as she can remember. Cash wants to know Ember better, but both his own demons and family feud are holding him back. Both fight their attraction as the fear of bloodshed keeps them apart.  But even fear can't stop true love.

Ember is a dragon without fire thus her name has been an embarrassment and cause for jokes her whole life. Cas has an unruly dragon and has withdrawn to allow him to control his beast. Members of the feuding Barnes and Montoya dragon clans have declared they are enemies but Ember has fallen and mate bonded with the elusive Cash without even speaking to him except through anonymous letters. After three long years, she finally has the opportunity and courage to tell him only for him to deny her allegations and call her a liar. Ember has had to deal with a withdrawn father and doesn't want to believe that Cash is the same. The feuding dragons are choosing sides as a new clan is forming and old wounds are prodded. Engaging characters populate this story as Cash and Ember struggle to find their way through the old vendetta and their own inner struggles. A must-read for dragon shifter fans. This is the second book in Great Plains Dragon Feud series. It's Cash Montoya's story, he's Gale's cousin. You could read this as a standalone but I think this series will be better enjoyed read in order. Cash is cantankerous on a good day he's warring for control with his dragon. Ember is a Barnes, Bayley's cousin, and she's a dragon shifter that can't breath fire. She's been in love with Cash for years but always pushed it aside because of the feud between their families that is until Bayley and Gale and are trying to put an end to the feud. Is it possible for Ember and cash to find a way to be together? Entertaining, steamy and well written. I really felt bad for all the heartache Ember felt. Ember wants happiness and love and will only find those with Cash but will he be brave enough to grab the love Ember's offering which both hands? Can't wait for the next book.

In the second book of the GREAT PLAINS DRAGON FEUTD, we meet Cash, Gale's cousin, and a famous musician. He has been corresponding with a fan, a woman, that really intrigues him, but he has no clue, who she might be.
Ember, Baylee's cousin, is the writer of said letters, and she is finally ready to coome clean, as there is a chance for them now, that there is a new clan, won explicitly gives refuge to the dragons, that do not want to hate each otehr, just because it has always been so.
Like Baylee and Gale, they have to fight for their love.
The story is a perfect continuation of the series, strengthening the larger story of two clans at each otehr's throat, but the younger generation not wanting any of that.
Entertaining, partly suspenseful, partly romantic, it was a sweet story with some fast paced action.

A Song of Destiny, Great Plains Dragon's, book 2.

This is the second book in this new series from Emilia Hartley, and I'm well and truly hooked! Couldn't tear myself away! I have to admit I binge read these first two books I could barely them down!
Cash Montoya needs his music to soothe his beast, but the music isn't as successful as it once was. His cousin and his new mate, Baylee are crowding his space riling up his beast.
Ember Barnes is as damaged as Cash, the damaged caused by her emotionally distant father!
When she first heard Cash's music she started writing him anonymous letters, pouring her feelings for him, into them. Now after Baylee and Gale have led the way, there's a chance for her to get her Montoya man.
Another great read in this series, totally recommend these books and series.

I loved this second book in the new Great Plains Dragon Feud series.
Embers heart is at breaking point. She has loved Cash from afar for years ever since she first heard him play. Now she is going to tell him she is the one that has been sending him letters.
They come from two feuding families. Hatred ingrained. Baylee and Gale made a start in bringing down the barriers but will her love push out to far.
Cash is forever fighting with the dragon within. Can he put anyone else through the pain he is sure to bring.
I adored this book. Great characters caught my attention and didn't let go. The overarching plot is intriguing and I was pulled into a lovingly crafted world.
I highly recommend this book and author.

This is book 2 of Great Plains Dragon Feud series. It is about Cash Montoya and Ember Barnes. Ember had watched Cash from afar while he performed. From the first note, Ember knew that she was in love. She decided to confront him and let him know that it was her that had sent the anonymous letters for the last 3 years, but it did not go as planned. Cash had read every letter numerous times over the past 3 years and without realizing it he had fallen in love with the woman who wrote them. In the end everything world out and they end up together. This is a really good book! I can not wait to read book 3! It would also be freaking perfect if Callum and Alice ended up being mated. I am also looking forward to finding out who/what woke Logan!

Cash Montoya plays music to calm his dragon, his cousin helps as does the anonymous letters he has been receiving from a fan.. But still the beast is always there at the edge. Ember Barnes works in a bar. She is from a rival family. The Barnes and Montoya dragon clans have been feuding for a very long time. Ember saw Cash playing in the bar and his music soothed her, called to her. She started writing him anonymous letters. When she gets the courage to tell him, he doesn't want to believe her. But his dragon wants her to claim her as well. How can they be together without betraying their families? How can mates not be together? This is an incredibly well written series by Emilia Hartley. Remember if you want to read a book you can't put down, you have to pick it up first. I recommend this series.

I just zoomed through Conquered Destiny and A Song of Destiny, the first two books in Emilia Hartley’ Great Plains Dragon Feud series. This series is proving to be a well written and fun stress reliever. Basically each story had a separate couple who are in a Romeo and Juliet type relationship thanks to their families being at war with each other and, oh year, they’re all dragon shifters. That “oh yeah” part is frankly superb in turning these tales into total fun. I loved Baylee and Gale’s story in book 1 so much that I turned immediately to book 2 but to my surprise the story of Ember and her fan fueled attraction to locL music star Cash (who plays music to keep his beast at bay) was better. I still give 5 stars to book 1 and now do it for book 2 only as you can’t give more. In either case each of these books is highly recommended.

I thought this was another amazing addition to this enticing series. This book picks up after book one, Conquered Destiny and I truly believe that your reading enjoyment will increase overall if you choose to read that book first. I won't go as far as to say you must but I think it will give you a richer and deeper experience. Cash's and Ember's story does its utmost best to bruise your heart and mightily succeeds. My heart was simply aching for these two. I found both characters very likable and easy to sympathize with. Intense emotion, drama, humor, twists and heart are woven across the pages and form a perfect backdrop and accent to the bit angsty and plenty of feels romance that takes center stage. This is my independent, impartial review.

Ember is a lot stronger than she thinks she is.
To have bonded when the other dragon doesn't even know it takes a lot out of her but she holds in there right up to when he starts to notice, or at least his dragon does.
Now she just has to hang in there to keep him sane, or to at least make him realize that he is.
Cash has spent his whole life fighting his dragon after seeing something when he was little that he wishes he didn't, eventually it takes him giving in to his dragon to realize that he's not alone and never was.
The bond of these two is strong and feuding families is not going to get in their way.
Another abrupt ending, hoping this leads on to another good story.
