When the one you let get away is back in town broken and alone, you stop at nothing to show her how you feel, even if your secret could break her all over again.

See that girl over there sitting in my bar?
That’s Savannah Turner.
She was everything I ever thought I could want back in high school, but she never knew it.
She was the one I let get away because I was too scared to pursue her.

Now she’s back in town, alone and broken, trying to pick up the pieces of her life after enduring the worst tragedy of her existence. I would give anything to be the one by her side, holding her hand, helping her heal, but the guilt that consumes me when I see her is crippling.

I can’t ever tell her why.
I can’t tell anyone.
If she found out, it could break her all over again.

That’s a weight nobody ever imagines themselves needing to carry.
Certainly not me.
But fate can be cruel.

A tearjerker that definitely brings on the emotions. I'm not going to give away spoilers -- better to take each step as it comes as the story unfolds. Nothing you haven't read before, but this author does tell a poignant story that unveils her own twist. Be forewarned that there is an overabundance of angst and heartbreak.

4 "On a scale of one to four" Stars

I struggled with the beginning of this book. I tried to think about it from my perspective as a mother and I had a hard time making a decision. Is it one of those things you never know until you're in the moment? Is it something you can really prepare for? And then again, who prepares for that kind of thing?

No one. No one prepares for the heartache and loss that Savannah experiences in the first few pages of this book. No one wants to think worst case scenario because even in your worst case scenario, you don't think of this.

"I really want to kiss you right now. Like, really kiss you. I've wanted to kiss you so badly since high school...and even more so since you turned around...."
Seven is as much a second-chance romance as it is a first-time romance. Savannah and Bryant knew each other growing up. Savannah had a crush during their childhood, Bryant had a crush during their teenage years. Timing wasn't something that worked in their favor.

On a scale of one to four, she's a fucking seven."
Fast forward to Savannah returning home after devastating circumstances. Fast forward to the night she's out with friends for a rare night of fun, when she finds herself face-to-face with none other than Bryant Wood.

"Savannah, I promise you I'm not that guy anymore, and if it's okay with you, if you'll let me, I would really love to show you the man I am now."
To say this reunion doesn't go well is an understatement. Bryant wants the chance he didn't get in high school. Savannah hates him for his playboy ways and the rude comments he made when they were younger. Can they get past this? What will it take?

And what happens when their far off past isn't the biggest hurdle? What happens when their more recent, unknown, past gets in their way? Will they be able to overcome that struggle? And how?

"I'm not made of glass. Kiss me. Touch me. Take me. I want to go on this adventure with you."

After a tragedy, Savannah returns to her hometown and with her parents' help, she tries to move on. On her twenty-seventh birthday her friends take her out to the local bar where the sexy barkeeper hits on her. Bryant recognises Savannah almost immediately as the one that got away. He had a crush on her during high school but since he was a jock and she the one with brains, he had remained silent so she never knew.

Now Bryant has a second chance, a chance he never dreamt he ever get - but he has a big secret and if Savannah finds out, this will change everything..

Wow, this story had so much potential and started great but in the end I can only give 3 stars. Bryant was a great character and his crush on Savannah was so sweet. The former bad boy and men whore changed his ways and tried to win her over. Sure, he messed up some things but it was more clumsy than mean and I liked him very much.

Savannah, well, she was not my favourite person and annoyed me to no end with her constant bitching and whining. Yes, her loss was a bad tragedy and of course she gets to be sad and angry with the world for losing her family BUT she behaves as if she is the only person in the whole wide world who ever lost someone dear and that was the point that bothered me to no end. When she had the fight with Bryant where she asked sarcastically what problems he could possibly have compared to her big loss, I wanted to throw my Kindle at the wall. This woman was simply annoying with her sorrow and it was not really plausible for her to whine one moment that she lost her beloved husband and in the next she was ogling Bryant with sexual thoughts in her mind.

The "dream" in the end was simply too much for me and in the end I was just glad it was over. The story started great and with each chapter it went bit more downhill. The HEA in the end was nice and all in all it was okay but not great. This is why I can only give 3 stars for this book.

I just read Seven by Susan Renee and I am still wondering something that probably has totally nothing to do with the book – but – Dear Author … are you by any chance a fan of Startrek Voyager? … (having said that – if she is – she will know what I am referring to)

Savannah and Bryant’s story was an interesting one.

There were several moments when I found myself rolling my eyes because some things were just too obvious (the “secret”) and in the first few chapters I almost thought Bryant was kind of strange … (hint : the car/key “thing” – I mean seriously ?)

However, leaving that aside – after a few chapters I got into the story and it was a really good read. I liked the way the relationship developed. The start of the book as well as of the relationship was kind of rough but the further it developed the more the author seemed to find into a nice pace.

It became easier to relate to the leading characters the further the story progressed and the complete setting was well developed (again after the first chapters).

Seven is a unusual romance that is not quite a second chance and also not a first meet. It’s a little about forgiving and a lot about not forgetting.

But basically it is about moving on and simply trying

And I think it is really worth reading

I was stuck in this book, I literally had a hard time putting it down! The people I got to meet in this book are hella strong, sarcastic, and still able to follow their hearts. This book gave me hope for the people I grew to love and have all the best work out for them. There are some twists and turns that I think made this story complete! Thank you Susan Renee for allowing me the gift of reading your book!!

This book had me crying within the first chapter and more throughout the entire book. Seven by Susan Renee is a book about a woman who loses everything in one fateful event and her struggle to keep moving forward. I don’t know if I would have been as strong as this character if I was her. My heart broke for her and I just wanted to reach inside my book and give her a hug.

Savannah Turner has gone through the worst life could ever give her. Savannah loses her husband and her one year old daughter in a car accident that only she walked away from. Savannah’s parents convince her to donate her daughter’s organs so that her death has a meaning.

“It’s harder than any Hell I could ever endure to know that my kid is alive but in someone else’s kid.” – Savannah

Two years after that horrible crash Savannah has moved back home to try and move forward while living with her loss. Every day is a struggle but Savannah keeps going with the help of her parents and close friends.

Bryant wanted Savannah in high school yet he never acted on it. Now that she has moved back home he knows that he can’t miss his chance. He thinks he can help her live again and he wants to show her that. Problem with that is that Savannah doesn’t want anything to do with him. He was her bully when they were children and she doesn’t have good memories of him.

“I promise you I’m not that guy anymore and if it’s ok with you, if you’ll let me I would really love to show you the man I am now.” – Bryant

Will Bryant be able to prove to Savannah that he is not the guy he used to be? Will Savannah ever be able to move forward or will her loss prevent her from ever loving again? And what happens when everything comes crashing down around her again? Will she be stronger enough to pull through yet again?

“I hate the number seven. Everyone says it’s a lucky number but for me, it’s the bane of my existence.

Seven is told in dual POV’s and is a book full of emotions. I was praying for Savannah and wanting her to find peace. That poor woman went through way more than most could ever handle. I also found myself routing for her and Bryant to work it out and to find their HEA. I really enjoyed this book you will really appreciate every blessing you have after you read this book.

4.5 Stars.......Absolutely Beautiful. In a blink of an eye Savannah's world is shattered.... Her husband and baby girl are taken away in a car accident leaving her to survive the pain of being a widow and childless. Nothing could have prepared Savannah for the loneliness that consumed her day and night. Her life as she knew it ended that fatal night, now she was surviving each day hoping it would get her closer to when she would reunite with her family in heaven.
Bryant's world was wrapped around his little girl, Ivy. From the moment she was born, tragedy struck not only taking her mother at birth, but also leaving Ivy to fight for her little life because of a failed liver. Ivy's life was full of the unknown, hospital appointments and medications until there was a donor, a little girl that lost her life in order to breath life into Ivy. Bryant's world didn't have space for anyone else than his little princess, until Savannah walked into his world.
She was the girl that got away, the girl that stole his heart years ago with just her smile. But her eyes were different now, full of sadness and lifeless. Bryant was willing to do all that he can to bring out the Savannah he knew in the past, his Seven.
Little by little Savannah's walls start to dissolve with all the care and love Bryant shows her. Her outlook on life starts to change, her purpose for living starts to make sense. Bryant needed her, his little girl needed her.....She needed them as well. There was only one thing that can shatter her already broken heart. One thing Bryant kept away from Seven until it was too late. The truth of who Ivy's liver donor was.
Life has a weird way of connecting people together, of bringing broken souls together in order to heal. A mothers grieve takes a lifetime to heal, it never gets better, it just constantly lingers in the shadows. Having something positive out of that tragedy makes life a little more tolerable. Savannah's tragic story had to come to an end in order for other families to get their happy ending. Donating Payton's organs benefited many other children that didn't have a chance in this world, including Ivy.
This story will truly touch your heart. Its sad and full of grieve but at the same time its beautiful and full of love.

This book so was so incredibly emotionally powerful! I laughed, smiled, smirked and sighed, but I also spent SO much time crying! This story is about the second-chance at love for Savannah and Bryant.
The book starts off so tragically as Savannah loses her husband Shawn and young daughter Peyton in a car crash they’re all involved in. It’s understandably devastating, and sets the tone for the book, and the significance of the number seven (that was SO well done). She then has to make the heart-breaking decision about organ donation (which was handled so sensitively and beautifully) for Peyton. As a parent myself, I cannot even imagine how difficult that decision would be.
After some time, Savannah moves back to her home town of Bardstown, and with her family’s help, starts to find a little bit of normalcy and opportunity to heal. She finds part-time employment in a salon, where she also makes friends, which are an important part of her support network too. Her boss and friend Rachel suggests they go out for Savannah’s birthday to Wood’s Tavern, and she relents. This is where she reconnects with a guy she knew at school - Bryant, and is the (slow) start of her true healing.
Their reunion is anything but smooth, as he starts off by calling her Seven – a nickname he gave her at school. And of course, he has NO IDEA about the significance of that number for her. Bryant also wasn’t the nicest person to her at school, perhaps hiding the fact that he also liked her. He was quite the arrogant player, and works relentlessly to prove to her that he isn’t that person anymore. He too has a young daughter – Ivy, and that has changed him as well. But he harbours a secret there, which comes out later.
After a shaky start, he asks her out on a date, and she can barely resist his good looks and charm. When she says ‘he could be the fourth brother in the family if Ryan Gosling, Bradley Cooper, and Chris Hemsworth were all related’, I TOTALLY understand the attraction! They really connect, talking, laughing and sharing stories. Even their moments of silence are unusually comfortable. Their mutual attraction and sizzling-hot chemistry is a joy to read about. They’re sweet and steamy.
There are some major dramas and problems along the way, which make the storyline even more realistic and relatable. The strength of the characters is shown along the way with love, perseverance, tenacity, resilience and determination. The time jumps helped to understand their stories a bit better too, giving context to many different situations and decisions. I don’t think I’ll EVER be able to listen to ‘You Are My Sunshine’ again and not tear up at least a little bit! It really is quite the roller-coaster!
I would definitely recommend this read, as I enjoyed it immensely! But I was a bit disappointed in the ending, because I wasn’t ready to say goodbye to these characters, and I wanted to know what happens next. There was still so much going on in their lives, and I have so many questions. I give this book four and a hopeful stars… which you know, equals like seven on a scale of one to four ;)

Super Sweet Story!

The writing draws you in and keeps you involved throughout the whole story, I found myself in love with not only the characters but also the world that was created.

The descriptions of the characters and their feelings are so involved, you can truly picture it in your mind.

Wow, I cried many tears while reading this story. I can't even imagine going through what Savannah did and coming out of that relatively sane at the end. I'm glad she and Bryant found each other again and Ivy was such a doll. The part with Shawn and Peyton just killed me at the end....I loved it! I would have loved to have had an epilogue of them years later with their Rose and Ivy.

Seven by Susan Renee is a book that gets you thinking! What would you do? How would you go on? Can you go on with your life after something unimaginable happens to you? Will you ever be happy again or just take it day by day and try to survive? What if you find a reason to live can you?
Savannah Turner had a loving husband, a beautiful baby girl name Peyton. That all changed in an instant!!! That night on new years changed her life and it changed the person Savannah was. Two years has passed and she now lives in the town she grew up in, Bardstown, Kentucky. She works at the local salon with Rachel, who she now considers a friend. When she finally agrees to go to the bar on her birthday that is owned by Bryant Wood. She sees a "Bartender" that she thinks is hot but a big flirt with all the ladies... When she finds out he is her old little crush, but he changed that quickly when he was a little douche in school. She thinks she knows who Bryant is now! Bryant is not the boy he was and he wants to know Savannah.
Will Savannah let down her wall she built up? If so what happens when she finds out some secrets that Bryant kept from her?? Will Bryant help her move on with him or will he be the reason she breaks for good??
Bryant Woods knows exactly who Savannah is. Bryant liked her since the ninth grade, but she didn't even glance at him because as a boy he made fun of her. Also they ran in different circles in school. When he finds out Savannah (Seven) is back in town, he hoped he can be her protector, her strength, her everything. He wants her to be happy and make her smile always. He fears once she learns his secret, that she will not even be able to look him in the eyes.
This story is a story about a the unimaginable, faith, love, secrets and much more!! you also get some laughs!! I couldn't put this book down since the first chapter.

Seven is a must-read book, especially if you want to cry as you read it, just don’t read it in public. I was in tears on page two and several other times. I mean like serious ugly cry tears. I managed to read it in just over a day, I could not put it down.

Savannah has dealt with the worse kind of tragedy any adult could and no person should have to deal with. As the lone survivor of a horrible accident she must say goodbye to ones she loves and then learn how to live her life again without them. She ends up moving back to her hometown about six months after the accident but is in a horrible depression. It takes almost two years for her to start surviving day to day life. She is talked into going out for her birthday with her co-workers and that is where she runs into a blast from the past but she can’t place the face.

Bryant is that blast from the past. In middle and high school, he was a complete jerk to a lot of people, including Savannah, but had been in love with her as a freshman in high school and she was always the one who got away. As the years went by he didn’t think about her as often until he hears about the accident and who knew then that his life would be as impacted by that night as hers was.

This is a story about an incredibly strong woman who overcomes a horrible loss and lots of pain to start to live and love again. This book was written so well, you could feel Savannah’s pain as if it was your own and it leaves you in tears as your heart aches for Savannah and all that she has lost and how she finally moves forward and live again. It is a very happy ending after a lot of heartache and sorrow.

Seven by Susan Renee is a highly emotional read. The book was well written, and the characters were likeable. It’s not a book I ever considered putting down, but it was highly charged and emotional. The complete and utter loss and devastation that Savannah suffers at the beginning of the book is pretty extreme. I don’t know how one person could get past that and continue living. I liked the book because it shows the possibilities of opening yourself up again, despite the pain of the past. This is a romance, of course, and it is fiction. Reality is suspended. At least, that’s why I read and lose myself in movies. IT’s not reality. It’s a way to get lost in a story, and see possibilities that may never actually exist in real life. I must say, I was highly disturbed by Bryant Wood and his stalkerish ways, and how he totally disregarded Seven’s (Savannah) privacy. He was pretty likable though, and I loved how he was with his daughter. There are men who step up when they become fathers, and while I do not have personal experience, I know it happens.
This book is a definite tear jerker. It’s not a book you can read at work, or in the park, or while standing in line at the post office. People definitely look at you funny. It was a fast read for me, and while I did have to remind myself once that it is fiction, I would recommend it. I loved being able to get lost in the story, and follow the Savannah and Bryant’s story through its conclusion. Also, I can’t forget to mention Ivy, Bryant’s daughter. I totally want a room like hers with a castle bed, and lights under the bed that I can wish on. It’s now on my list to Santa.

This was a book which took me by surprise and had me running for the tissue box! Damn...I wasn't ready for it. I mean, I know you get the hint that Savannah is going to have devastation in her life, but be prepared. I cried BIG.FAT.TEARS. The good news? What comes afterwards is worth foraging through the tissues back to the book. The main highlight? Bryant. HOT DIGGITY DOG.

First thought on this guy? Douche reformed. Second thought? A guy misjudged by stupid teenage hormones. I *almost* want to term this book as a second chance love story, but the truth is they never got a first chance. When we learn about a young Savannah and Bryant, I dare you not to let him pull at your heartstrings. If you find yourself immune, then I know you'll tumble head over heels when you get to know the grown-up version of this man. He has a heart of gold and you'll find there is no limit to his perseverance.

There are quite a few bumps and twists in this story which all make for interesting reading. I think my favorite part is learning about the symbolism of the word seven. It's a number, but much more than. There are times when it got a bit confusing if it was negative or positive, but I think it's symbolic of the relationship between Bryant & Savannah, as well as their paths in life.

This story wraps up beautifully. You get an idea of how these characters will live on and it's all very fitting. I really enjoyed the writing style and wouldn't hesitate to pick up another book by this author.

5 Stars *****

I completely loved Seven by Susan Renee, this book was so emotionally written that you can feel it in every page of the book.
Savannah knew what love and happiness were until one night it was all taken from her in the most tragic way. She is not sure if she will ever get over the pain that she feels. Her parents pack her up and move her back home; eventually she gets a job and is able to put on smile so placate everyone around her. Almost three years later on her 27th birthday the girls from the salon she works at take her out to the bar for a few drinks. She is starting to have a good time when a man starts to dance with her, for a minute everything is fine until he recognizes her and start to let on that he knows her.
Bryant remembers her instantly; she was the one that got away. He loved her through high school, but he was the jock and she was the brain. Now she’s back and he only wishes it was under better circumstance. Bryant has everything because of her and he hates that she had to lose everything for him to get it.
When she finds out the secrets that he is hiding, will his reasons for hiding them be enough to make her stay or will it forever ruin their future?
Wow I was completely blown away by the heartbreak and devastation in this book. Then the way that it all came full circle. Sigh.. This was an amazing book of love, loss, heartbreaking, falling in love and second chances and I will be recommending this book to everyone I know.

Healing Love

I almost put this book down after the first chapter. Not because it was a bad book, but because I knew it would get me. There are books that make you laugh. Books that make you mad. There are those that make you fall in love. Then there are books that hurt your heart. This book is all of those. Yes, I cried. Not many books will do that, but this one did. I loved this story and more. Susan touches on so many emotions in this story, I just wanted to ask her WHY! Why it happened!? Of course I couldn't do that, So I kept tissues handy and read this story. I laughed when they laughed, and cried when they did. I applaud you for writing this story. For putting feelings to paper for others to feel. I get it, not personally of course. This is a story that everyone should read. They should meet Savannah and Bryant. They should fall I love with them. This was a very emotional read, a very good one!

I was lucky enough to be gifted a copy of this book by another reader.
Am I ever glad this book found its way to me. I fell in love with the characters. It's an amazing story of second chances in life & love.

I don't want to give anything away so I will attach a spoiler to this review.
I love that the issue of organ donation was used & that we saw both sides of the story: loss & life.

I have multiple people in my life who have been blessed by organ & tissue donation, including myself, so this story truly resonated with me. Mine was not a life or death situation, but I was fortunate to receive a donor bone graft in 2004, to help repair my jaw. Before then, I had no idea that tissue donations were possible. I had only heard of organ donation. If you aren't a donor or haven't looked into it, please give thought to becoming a donor.

Susan Renee finds all the emotions you can feel, and brings them all out in the matter of one book. I do not recommend reading this book without a box of tissues readily available. You'll fall in love with the characters, and feel their pain, feel their joy, feel their confusion, feel their contentment. She is gifted at the emotional experience. The story itself is very well thought out. You can tell she did her homework (I won't give away about what). I honestly could not put it down once I started reading. This is one of those books that you will need to read it all in one sitting, you just can't walk away from it. Not many authors can bring you into a story the way she did with this book. I can't wait to see what she has next!

An emotional read that will bring tears to your eyes several times yet make your heart happy in the end. Seven is amazing. Seeing how strong Savannah is through everything she has lost is enduring. Bryant is an amazing single father who has been in love with Savannah forever. Once she moves back you can't help but feel the pull. Ivy is a special little girl who you can't help but adore. Even though Bryant is hiding a secret from Savannah you understand why and you feel for him. You hope that they can weather any storm that comes their way. Make sure you have tissues handy for this one.

Another great read by Susan Renee. I just could not put it down. It's one of those books that tugs at your heart and you feel so much for the characters you just HAVE to know what's going to happen, you can't wait! Yet again I found myself so engrossed in the story I just kept eating up chapter after chapter WELL past my bedtime. It is a good thing my coffee addiction makes it possible to drink 10 plus cups in a day.

Loved it! The author wrecked me right from the get go (1st chapter). The MC (Savannah) has been through hell and I wouldn’t want to be in her shoes. Except... for Bryant! (found my next book boyfriend). Bryant also went through a lot. And! He has a secret... What will happen when it comes to light??
Lovely romance, spice (not extreme, sorry... not used to rating spice yet 😂). Had me ugly crying a couple of times... Definitely recommend!!

Jeez! Tears, laughs, head shaking and gasps! This book had it all. Susan Renee knows how to pull on your emotions. Do not start this book in public! I was in tears in the beginning chapters in the cafeteria at work, the looks I was getting. The story concept is endearing and creates a great connection. Reconnecting with your past to help heal the present to overcome what comes in the future!
