Espaço Comum A cidade como obra colectiva

Rate this book

Joana Braga (do Prefácio)

I have this thing that when I start a book, I have to finish it, and believe me, it’s wrong. Although I have a deep interest in urban sociology, commons and commoning, I wrote a book on solidarity economies, it’s been torture to read this book. It’s this fluid prose of total abstraction, floating sequels of definitions, redefinitions, deconstructions and reconstructions that render the whole field of hermeneutics obsolete because of its mushy, sticky structure. The only thing worth reading were the examples on the Navarinou Park and Exarchia neighborhood and the Alexandria Avenue Prosfygika buildings in Athens. Otherwise, the undecided and uneven swing between scholarly analysis and fictive prose has been baffling for the reader. The eclecticism of the conceptual framework, the structural organization of the book and the often repeated aspirations of the author really make it very difficult to sift through murmurings to get a hold of the concrete substance it tries to present.

Livro pertinente, interessante, educativo. Boa perspectiva e caracterização daquilo que é o espaço comum.
