Jax Griffith has been a dick to Sloane Watson from the moment he walked into the shop where she works.

Jax is a friend of the owner, but that’s not why he keeps coming back to the store.
There’s just something about Sloane that keeps getting his attention.

The problem is, she’s way too young. He’s fourteen years older and that’s a hell of an age gap. He may want her, but Sloane needs to see the world and experience life.

Logically Jax knows that, but he can’t stop thinking about her, dreaming about her, wanting her.

Eventually, Sloane tempts him way too much. When Jax finally gets his head out of his ass, will she even give him a chance? Or will she walk away?

Welcome to the world of the Hot Shots — sexy alphas who love the beach and have enough heat you can’t help but feel the heat. This novella is chocked full of insta-love goodness, safe and sexy, with a grumpy, over-the-top alpha who meets the one woman that will bring him to his knees. But that’s okay, Jax does some of his best work on his knees. As always with a Tory Baker book, you have a guaranteed happily ever after headed your way.

I am voluntarily reviewing an advanced reader copy of this book.

Sloane has been working at the wet spot for a while and has a major crush on Jax, she’s only nineteen and she knows he is staying away because she needs to experience life but the only life she wants is with him. Can she show them they belong together or should she give up and walk away?

Jax knew the day he met Sloane that she was the one meant for him but her age has kept him away, convinced he would be ruining her life by tying herself to him. But when passion takes over and he walks away will he realise that he could lose her?

These two will keep you enthralled in their story although and I know it was originally a read me romance, it felt too short and I didn’t feel the chemistry as strongly as in other books by the author. 3.8* read.

You couldn’t have given her some time to be angry? Maybe have him chase for once? 6 fucking chapters in and I’m stopping. A huge fucking disappointment for the woman who supposedly can hold her own but is actually a fucking doormat.

Jax has wanted Sloane from the moment he saw her, but their 14 year age gap stops him from pursuing her. It doesn’t stop his feelings or their constant bickering and picking at one another. Salone wants Jax to admit his feelings and just be with her, she’s tired of fighting her feelings. When Jax finally gives in and kisses her things go from hot to nuclear quick, but when she sees his look of regret she tells him to not say anything, he leaves. Feeling hurt and confused she calls in Fox to watch the surf shop so she can think. She calls Mel and goes over there to talk. Fox heads over to Jax’s house to tell him Sloane may be young but she’s really smart and he and Cruz are going to make her a partner in the surf shop. They also help her pay for school, they really believe in her and so should he. She’s come to the conclusion that if she wants Jax she is going to have to fight for him. She heads over to his house and he’s ready for her. Their first time together is hot. No more pushing away for Jax he’s all in, they confess their love. Epilogue six months later with her graduating and one year later with them married.

Wonderful!! This was a nice quick, short read. I absolutely love it.

Jax meet Sloane when she started working at The Wet Spot for Fox. She’s looking at a magazine of a hot surfer and is thinking of asking Cruz wants to partner with him. Jax gets jealous over the man in the magazine. When she gets up to go to the break room he follows her. He backs her to the wall and begins to kiss her, he just wants a taste of her. He grips her breast and begins to play with her nipples. When he realizes what he is doing he backs away from her. He thinks he’s to old her for and she needs to experience life before he ties her to him. That’s not what Sloane wants, she wants to be tied to Jax. He leave and goes home to workout. Sloane calls Fox and asks him to cover for her, she never needs anyone to cover for her, but after the kiss from Jax she needs to leave the shop. She goes and walks the beach grabbing lunch than calls Melanie. She asks Mel if she can come over and she tells her she never needs to ask. Fox closes the store and heads over to Jax’s home. He tells him he’s making a big mistake when it comes to Sloane. Jax finds out somethings he did not know about her, then he feels like a dumb ass. Fox goes home and finds Sloane sitting on his deck. She asks him if she’ll need to go after Jax and he tells her his back door is unlocked. She sprints to his home which is only a few doors down the beach. He waiting at his door for her and pulls her into a hug and apologies. He tells her he didn’t know what she was going though and he’s with her no matter what. She tells him she needs to tell him something if this goes any further and he tells her he already knows. Then he takes her to his bed. He tells her he needs her more than his last breath. He tells her he needs to taste her and will go slow their first time. They get physical with each other taking their time. Sloane wakes up and is enjoying watching Jax when he wakes he asks her why she’s up. She tells him she needs to head to The Wet Spot to open it up. He tells her to let Fox open and she tells him its the day she looks forward to. She gets to choose the inventory to order and she’s won’t miss this day. He tells her he loves her and she asks him if he means it. He tells her yes and she tells him she loves him too. Six months later Jax is sitting with Sloane’s parents, Fox and Melanie watching as she graduates with her masters degree. She’s thinking of continuing her education. One year later they are happy just the two of them, being married for six months. They’re not sure if they wants kids yet they still have time. They both travel a lot Jax going to competitions. Sloane spend some of her time in Florida but they make it work.

Sloane, 19, s finishing college and works at a beach shop and loves bantering back and forth with Jax, 33, who is former army and lives by the beach and is a volleyball tournament director who also plays beach volleyball. Jax is attracted to Sloane but feels that he is too old for her and she hasn’t had a chance to experience things yet and he doesn’t want to hold her back. Sloane doesn’t care that he is older and she wants him. Will Jax listen to his friend and finally talk to Sloane and tell her how he feels? Can they find a HEA together?

I enjoyed this short story with the older man and the girl who knows what she wants and I give this story 4.5 stars. The author did a great job letting you see Jax’s feelings for Sloane but he didn’t want to hold her back rom getting everything she wanted. Sloane knew what she wanted and they finally had to talk to see if they could find happiness together. The 2 epilogues were the perfect ending for their story.

Loved Jax and Sloane
Jax and Sloane have a very anatomist relationship that hides their strong attraction to each other. Jax is a 33 year old Army Vet, with some baggage, working the beach volley ball circuit. Sloane, at 19, is beautiful, has a smart mouth, and brilliant mind. She practically single handily is running The Wet Shop, for Fox and Cruse. She is to young and out of his league.
Sloane has had a thing for Jax since she first laid eyes on him. Through her adopted big brothers, Fox and Cruse he thinks she is to young. Foxes wife Mel, thinks she just need to step up, let Jax know what she wants. When Jax takes the bait, then walks away. Fox steps in. He encourages Sloane to give it one more try.
Sweet and sexy short story. A great epilogue to wrap up their story. Hoping Saint gets a story too.

Does age really matter?

I really liked this short story. It was an entertaining and enjoyable take on an age gap romance. The characters were interesting and likable. Melanie and Fox were great friends to both Jax and Sloane. Jax was torn over being the “good” guy and going for what he wanted. He had been pushing Sloane away so that she could have a chance to live her own life. Jax truly felt that Sloane deserved better than an old man like him. Sloane was amazing. She was working toward her goals and she wasn’t letting anything stand in her way. Sloane knew that Jax was performing for her, she just had to get him over their age gap first. I loved their happy ever after. I recommend reading this book.

The tension between these two was so intense! Sloane has worked for Jax and his partners at the surf shop from the beginning. She is young and smart, the world at her feet and Jax can't bring himself to go there. He has wanted Sloane for so long but he doesn't want to hold her back. Sloane wants Jax so much but he never makes a move. When he does and then immediately regrets it cuts her deep. Will Jax and Sloane finally get on the same page and seize the future they so desperately want? This one was quick and still chock a block full of longing and a bit of despair. But that ending made it all worth it!

Jax is an older single male with a hunky body. He is always around the beach. He is always coming into the shop owned by his friend. He is coming in to see Sloane. Sloane is much younger and she is sassy, feisty and in love with Jax. Jax can’t get her out of his mind. Even though she is too young, too intelligent, too beautiful. Sloane is going to take action against Jax. Can this work? Will Sloane be able to convince Jax they belong together? Will Jax be able to walk away? This is an older man, younger woman who decides to become the aggressor and take charge to get her man. Great characters!

i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the third book in the Hot Shots Series. In this book, Jax is tired of fighting his attraction to Sloane, the young woman who works for his best friend at his surf shop. Sloane is 14 years younger than Jax and he thinks she should live her life before he makes a move to make her his. Sloane is tired of waiting and decides to tempt Jax into action. I liked this older man/ younger woman romance. Sloane was mature for her age and knew what she wanted. I think Jax really cared for her, he was just trying to wait for her to grow up, but she did anyway. good one.

Sloane has been in both Fox and Cruz's books. I like her sassy character in those stories, I'm glad Tory did a story with her, givings us more about her and who she is.
Sloane knows what she wants, she more mature for her age and has her eyes set on Jax, an older man, seeing no reason it can't work. Jax can't keep his eyes off her, he keeps coming up with reason why they can't be together, using his age as the main reason, wanting to let her have a life for herself. Thankfully Sloane knows what she wants goes after him.

Jax by Tory Baker is another phenomenal addition to the Hot Shots series! It was a quick, dirty, SHMEKSHAY read that you'll devour in one sitting for sure!

Jax and Sloane are FIRE! Sloane, so self assured and confident and beautiful in her easy breezy happy go lucky yet driven way! And Jax, focused, dedicated, head over heels for his woman even as he tries to fight it.

And their CHEMISTRY? Off the charts! Fast paced and delicious, you'll definitely gobble it up.

Definitely a fun read, a perfect little pallet cleanser!

So Jax has been trying to keep his distance from Sloane even though every time they see each other he ends up being a jerk to her. Until one day he loses it and finally makes a move only to regret it and push her away. I understand his hesitation about the age difference but that didn't stop Sloane. She went after what she wanted and she wanted Jax. I like that Sloane wasn't a pushover that just walked away. I love how once they came together they made everything work and was able to build a life together!

I thought that this was a really good book. Jax and Sloane were great together. I am really glad that these two finally got there own book because these two in Fox and Cruz's book were just bagging for their own! I really enjoyed the connection, banter, and the chemistry between these two. I really liked that even though Sloane may be young, she is an old soul and she is ready to fight for what she wants. I really enjoyed this book and I would recommend it and Ms. Tory as a great author.

Jax and Sloane have been fighting their attraction to each other for quite awhile, but we finally got a short story about them finally reaching their breaking point. This novella was short, steamy, sweet, and we got the HEA we were looking for. It felt like this book was over too soon, but maybe we will get more from the couple in the future because I sure would like more of their romance. I really enjoyed Jax, and Sloane is quite the lady boss! I might just re-read this soon or pick up the audiobook on read me romance if I’m in the mood for the short and steamy story!

Jax and Sloan have danced around each other for quite a while now and he gives the reason of the fourteen years apart as a major issue. Both are seriously ready to commence this romance for real. The characters and storyline are terrific, with plenty of spark and care. The group is close and supportive, telling him to hurry up. The future looks bright. Love the epilogues and can not wait to read more by this author.

Title: Jax
Author: Tory Baker
Format: Audio
Narrator Michael Pierce,
Genre: Romance, Age Gap, Grumpy, Sports, Volleyball
Standalone: yes
Part of a Series: Hot Shots
POV: Jax, Sloane
Steam Level: steamy
4/5

Jax is super cute. Age gap isn’t usually my thing but this one wasn’t terrible. There’s only 14 years between them and Sloane seems mature for her age as well. Jax is hot and steamy and I would have loved to seem some of their previous interactions to appreciate them getting together more than I did.

I listened to this on the Read Me Romance podcast.

Jax is book number 3 of the Hot Shots series. I have been waiting on Jax and Sloane since we met them in Fox's story. Jax and Sloane had been fighting their feelings for each other for a while before Jax finally got his head out of his butt and finally went after the girl. I can 100% respect his reasons for wanting to hold off on pursuing Sloane, even when it hurt him. I loved this book!

This is a short and steamy age gap romance. Jax is book 3 in the Hot Shots series.

Sloane and Jax have been circling one another for awhile. She ignores him and he’s a jerk to her. Sloane knows what she wants and what she wants is Jax, if only he’d pull his head out of his a** and realize how great they’d be together.

If you’re looking for fun in the sun and a place called the Wet Spot, then definitely give the Hot Shot series a go.

Sloan works for Jax and his two friends where she is a very mature 19 and very smart Jax is 33 and is strongly attracted to the much younger Sloan so he does the right thing and stays away from her. She is strongly attracted to Jax but he keeps her at arms length until he doesn't and then regrets it which hurts Sloan. Will Jax give into the attraction he has for Sloan or will he break both their hearts?

Tory Baker continues her Hot Shots series with Jax, a hot and steamy age-gap romance. In his early thirties, Jax has long lusted after the beautiful, nineteen year old Sloane. Jax, thinking he will hold her back if he takes what he wants, has tried to stay away; but finally, Sloane has had enough and makes a move. This is a quick, steamy, will they-or-won't-they entertaining romance.

I received an ARC from the author thru Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my review. Book three in the Hot Shots series is all about Jax and Sloane. It is short, funny and steamy. Two people who are great together are kept apart by his protective nature that turns into stubbornness. She is just the woman to change his mind though. I enjoyed this quick read

Jax is an older man who has traveled and seen the world. Sloane is a young women who is working on her degree while working at the store. There is an intense pull between them, but Jax refuses to give in because he wants Sloane to live her life, but when the pull becomes to strong.... Sparks fly and passion heats up.

Amazingly well written story that is perfect to get lost in.

Sloane and Jax

It was actually a very good read. It's a short story but we already know these two combust every time they are in close proximity. Jax is very much aware of both their feelings for each other but hesitated to do anything about it due to their age difference; his 33 and she is 19. But after finally succumbing to their feeling, an intense kiss us shared between them and nothing will vs the same after that. Highly recommended

Jax is book 3 in the new series Hot Shots written by the talented author Tory Baker. Tory Baker has done it again, another fast pace charming romance book! This is Jax Griffith and Sloane Watson story!! I was hooked from the first page and couldn’t stop reading. Sloane knows what she wants, she wants Jax. He wants her but use his age as an excuse to keep Sloan away. As always with a Tory Baker book, you have a guaranteed sexy happily ever after headed your way. Enjoy!

Sloan gave me woman-written-by-a-man vives. This is short and very focused on the smut, yet it takes itself too seriously, and ends up being weird. The audiobook narrator's rendition of Sloane was absolutely cringe, and the way Jax's chapters were narrated reminded me of when some of my favorite YouTubers make fun of the "manly man" (I'm looking at you, Weirdo Bookclub). It was blessedly short, or I wouldn't have been able to finish it.

The story was okay, even though age gap isn't really my thing. It was interesting to have a guy narrating the entire book, and I didn't mind that as much as I usually do when one person does alternating parts. What I didn't like, was how Sloane's parts were done with an almost Valley Girl twang, and that got on my nerves. Otherwise, an okay read.

I liked Jax and Sloane's story. Their constant bickering was "hiding" their mutual attraction and Jax tried to push her away because of their age difference. Sloane is sassy, smart and wants Jax in the best way possible lol. Their relationship is steamy, easy going and they fit perfectly together.
