Destination Daddies

All Dolled Up

Rate this book
Trendy Asheville, NC is the last place Rene would have thought he’d be heading when he takes a few vacation days. Probably because first, he doesn’t actually get vacation days, and second, because he never goes anywhere. Too many anxieties. Too much responsibility. Too little faith that what he really wants is actually out there. But when a “Daddy” he meets online invites him to a kinky weekend to discover whether or not Rene can be the kind of boy he thinks he wants to be, he takes a leap of faith and… sinks.

Stranded, rejected, and without anywhere to lay his head, Rene’s only choice is to share a room with a stranger. A stranger who helps Rene discover that he does want a Daddy, but it’s not just Daddy’s boy he wants to be…

Pretentious Asheville, NC is the last place Edward would have thought he’d be heading when he takes a few vacation days. Probably because first, he has no use for vacation days, and second, because he never goes anywhere. Not since his husband passed away and took Edward’s heart with him. But when his attorney refuses to follow Edward’s directive to sell a property he owns, Edward rises to the bait and goes to check out the tiny boutique hotel himself to find out just what’s so special about it.

The hotel is fully booked for an event on the only weekend Edward can get away, but he’s the owner, dammit. They will find him a room… and they do. At the expense of a nervous, beautiful boy who Edward’s burst of temper has all but put out on the streets. Stepping in to take care of him is the least Edward can do, even if that means falling down a rabbit hole of kink that he never expected and discovering that maybe his heart didn’t die with his husband after all.

All Dolled Up has tea parties and teddy bears, a grouchy, overprotective Daddy who had no idea he was one, a nervous boy who thought he was Little but finds out he was wrong, and the discovery of a brand new kink that fits both of them perfectly. This book is part of the Destination Daddies multi-author series. Each book can be read as a standalone, but there are so many destinations and Daddies to discover, why not grab them all?

I received an ARC from the author and this is my honest review.

I liked this book ALOT.

Let's do a Q&A to cover some of the basics.

Q: What are the tropes in this book Layla?
A: Mild daddy kink, One-Bed and dollification <--- yes I made this word.

Q: What's Dollification Layla?
A: It's when the sub wants to be posed and treated like an inanimate doll...kinda like a s€x doll.

Q: That's the first time I've heard of this Layla!
A: OMG SAME! I mean... I was kinda like... wtf is happening but then I was like WTF THIS IS HOT.

Q: What else is special about this book Layla?
A: Welp... you got a widower, an anxious sub who wants to kinksperiment <--- yes this is valid word too, and a whole lotta daddies and littles and boys who are happy to lend their kinkspertise<---holy sh!t I AM ON FIRE WITH THESE WORDS.

Q: Steam-o-meter?
A: It's a Chara book babes. Waddya expect? Fade to black? Of course it's steamy. Plus dirty talk.... AND exhibitionism. But don't qorry... it's loom but don't touch with Daddy Edward. He's possessive like that.

Q: Angst-o-meter?
A: No angst my darlings! This is all about feeling good and having fun. Rene is just a bit anxious, but Daddy Edward knows how to snap him out of it. *wink wink*

Q: Is this an isnta-love book?
A: You betcha! But come on... you won't mind when it's that sweet and spicy right?

Q: Does it have an HEA Layla?
A: You know it! The sweetest too!

Q: Do you recommend it then, Layla?
A: Why are you still here? Go buy the damn book! Thank me later.

Book safety, content warnings, and tropes down below.

“What’s got you smiling like that, beautiful? Tell me, so I can make it happen again.”

This one is a reread for me. Aside from the interesting kink and freaking hot exhibitionism, there’s some really good character development from the bitter and angry daddy who deals with the guilt of moving on after losing his husband years prior. He had no plans of ever moving on, but can’t resist his dollbaby.

I really like how the POVs are so distinct. Even if the chapters weren’t named, I’d have no problem knowing whose chapter it was. Rene is shy, stressed out, worries constantly, and in desperate need of someone to just fully take over and let him relax. All of this comes through in his entire character.

I still haven’t read another book with dollification, but I really enjoyed how it was done in this book.

Rene, based on what I’d seen so far, needed someone to take charge so he could have steady ground under his feet, so he could let himself open up and bloom, so he could feel safe and secure and cared for.

He smiled, a shy, sweet one that kept getting bigger and bigger until his eyes were glowing with it. […] Sam threw his hands up in the air. “Oh my God, Rene. No! Just because it looks like a Daddy doesn’t mean it is a Daddy!”

“Rene is a delicate porcelain doll,” he told the princess. “He’s fragile and perfect and must be played with carefully and handled with respect. He’s made to be posed, and watched, and treasured.”

Ok so the petname Babydoll is right there and you pick *checks notes* Dollbaby?? I dunno I though this was fine but I honestly think we could have done more with the doll kink and also if I was up on stage doing a whole kink demonstration I’d be a little peeved if it got highjacked because someone in the crowd was just too ~pretty~ idk maybe I’m just peeved I’ve never been invited to a kink hotel and immediately found the love of my life

My heart soared!

Chara is just out of this world. I adored the meet cute, fretted over Daddy and Rene coming out of their shells together, swooned over their romance, exploded during the spanking demo scene (seriously red hot fire), and then the ending was pure perfection. I am in love with Chara’s characters and plots. Period.

The build up and relationship development in the beginning was so sweet and just bumped the story up another notch for me. I loved Edward and Rene but found the character of Sam way, way too much.

This book really grabbed me in the beginning. Rene was just too sweet and good and I wanted everything for him. He is really trying to conquer his anxiety to try out being Little and meeting a Daddy he had been talking to online, but things aren't going very well from the start. Edward is a widower and really just not a happy person, still grieving his loss and inadvertently causing more problems for our sweet little Rene. But once Edward lays eyes on Rene, things go from zero to you are the boy/person for me in like 60 seconds.

This was a sweet insta story, that started off perfect for me, but lost me a little as the story went on and things felt like they were getting a bit repetitive. I even skimmed some of the long sex scenes. Dollification was a new kink for me, so that was a plus. It was interesting being in Rene's head for this and while he tried to figure out where he fit in on the kink weekend. Sam, Rene's feisty new friend and protector needs a story. I was hoping for a little more development of both men's characters, but we really only know them for the weekend and then a fast forward to the Epilogue.

Although I finished reading it, I have decided not to rate the book because I hate Daddy kink yet decided to read the book due to the dollification kink.

So, I am in no position to criticise it based on a kink, I don't enjoy reading. But, my biggest issue was the sweetness factor. This book literally pushed me to the Pre -Diabetic stage.

This started off really strong. There was a beautiful bonding moment between these two where Edward opens up about his grief and Rene is able be there for him and help him see a path towards healing. I liked the two of them together and the kink they explore is a perfect fit for them. After they got together though, the book became very repetitive, with Rene and Edward having the same discussions over and over again. I understand Rene had anxiety and needed reassurance, but it felt like the author was trying too hard to explain and justify the kink to the reader. In my opinion, it was unnecessary and took away some of the character depth that I saw in the first half and wish continued in the second. Nevertheless, this was very sweet and enjoyable.

5 'Dollbaby' stars.

I absolutely loved this book. I've read a lot of Daddy kink, but All Dolled Up is totally different from any of the others I've read. I'm all about age gaps, and there's a substantial one between Rene and Edward. I love humor. Sam, the front desk clerk at the hotel and Rene's new friend, is a blast. I love when things click, come together, for couples. It does that perfectly here. Edward's the perfect Daddy, though he never knew he was one until Rene came into his world. Rene is the perfect boy, letting his Daddy take away all his worries. It's also an amazing love story with hot as hell sex scenes.

Great book. My first by the author. It definitely won't be the last.

P.S. Somebody please tell me Sam has his own story or will at some point. If anybody deserves a Daddy or two, it's Sam.

All Dolled Up
By Chara Croft

Rene is sweet, shy, and has a big problem with panic attacks. When he trusts the wrong man and agrees to meet him at The Plazerra (AKA The Purple Plum) for a Daddy/Boy weekend meet-up hours away from home it falls apart from the moment he pulls into the parking lot and his car dies. He then finds his room reservation was cancelled to accommodate the owner's rude demand of a room during a fully booked weekend. It goes from bad to worse when his 'Daddy' for the weekend doesn't care he no longer has a place to stay.

Since Edward's beloved husband passed away 5 years ago his temperament has changed. He's become a grumpy, demanding, and rude man even to those who love him. When he realizes his actions have left a beautiful young man stranded with nowhere to go he offers to share his room.

Edward and Rene are wonderful together. I loved their relationship and they had great chemistry. During their time together they realize they have a unique kink that works for them. (There was a very hot public scene involving it too.)

I really liked this book. I loved all the characters. Sam was a laugh with all his snarky comments to Edward. Daryl, Rene's so-called 'Daddy' for the weekend, was a complete asshat and deserved worse.

The book is in both Rene and Edward's POV. The angst level is on the high end of low.

I received this book as an ARC from the author for my honest review.

4.5 rounded to 5

YES! I loved this one so much! I loved the exploration and the acceptance, how every kink is different for every couple, and I just couldn't get enough of these two together. They both learn what works for them together and fit together perfectly.
My heart broke for Renee and his severe anxiety. Edward helped him by giving him structure and taking over control and decision-making and Renee helped Edward heal from his grief and guilt over the death of his ex-husband. This also introduced me to dollification and when I explained it to a friend it sounded odd, but it was well written and was hot as f*ck. I really enjoyed the characters the author created, and I'll be keeping my eye out for any of the side characters getting their own books.

Edward knows he’s being mean and unreasonable but he’s sad but not too sad because he needed to be able to fall for Rene. Edward needs to take his piles of money and go to grief therapy. He bullies the owners and Sam for a room and meeting but then decides he would rather hangout with Rene and he’s rich so he can just blow them off…I just wish Edward was there for any other reason, I liked him with Rene when he was romancing and caring for him but the whole reason he went there annoyed me.

My favorite character was Sam. I would love to read about Sam finding love. And just more of everyone that works at The Plazerra.

This story is so full of wonderful feels. I love this addition to the Destination Daddies series. I like how Rene explores what he really wants and needs. I also love that Sam wants to be his friend even when he doesn't fit the mold that was expected. And Edward is just so very special. I love their connection and so glad there was an epilogue to the story.

Sweet, unique kink

A bit over the top, a bit syrupy sweet, but I liked it anyways. Points for a new to me kink as well. Cute how it fit them both really well, which is the goal.

2.5 stars but I'm round up because god knows why

I'll keep this short into the point. This book was very unremarkable. The characters were shallow with zero character development, and there was nothing dynamic or engaging to keep you reading. The only reason why I made it as far as I did (70% mark) is because the smut was kind of hot and I was into the kink. (The secret one I mean. The age play was far from good). But decent smut can not save a poor story. I need more and I think it's time I put this author to rest. 2.5 stars because I truly cannot stand characters like Rene. Timid and shy to the point of disfunctionality is not cute and authors need to stop romanticizing it. Also why was this so long!? Seriously, I counted three whole chapters that could have been cut and nothing would have changed.

This story blew me away with the vulnerability of Rene and his need to belong. Edward (the grumpy one) sees Rene as he is and it is just beautiful. The uncovering of their shared desires is astounding and unique.
This book is fun, sexy, tender and so sweet but also exceptionally clever in the writing and design.
Yes, it's a Daddy book - but it's also a very deep love story with specialised elements of dollification and deep submission.
The healing elements also really called to me as a reader and I just loved Sam - the energetic little who helps Rene through the event.
Such an engaging and captivating story - making me feel deeply for these fantastic characters.

Another solid steamy book from this author. I wasn't expecting exactly this kink, but it's beautifully realized with both how Edward takes control and how Rene becomes exactly what he needs to be, no more and not a smidge less. I adored the tea party scene with Sam and the other Littles -- so perfect! -- and the after-demonstration demonstration was hot a.f. That was exactly what I needed right now, so thank you Mama Chara!

I've never met a Chara Croft book I didn't love, and Rene and Edward's kinky romance was no exception! I'm a huge sucker for shy, anxious boys, and sweet Rene set off all my submissive alerts before he even realized that's what he was. I thought I was going to combust from cuteness overload watching Edward and Rene get to know each other, and it was particularly satisfying to see how quickly Edward's possessiveness kicked in around him. Any initial grumpiness I had towards him about being a jerk faded fast once I saw how dedicated he was to making Rene happy. I loved the push and pull in the beginning of their Daddy/boy relationship and how brave Rene was about sharing his uncertainties with Edward. For such a new couple, they communicated surprisingly well, and that went a long way towards making me feel secure in their connection. Add to that all the deliciously steamy, brain-overloading passionate moments they shared and I was ready to pack up and board the Edward-and-Rene train all the way to the end of the line. I didn't think things could be any more satisfying between them, but the unexpected reveal of their shared kink started an entirely new wave of steamy bliss. I've never read a book with this particular kink before, and while it's not my personal cup of tea it was fascinating to see it through Edward and Rene's eyes. Of course, I can't review this book without mentioning Sam, the most underrated hotel employee ever. His bright energy and fearless sass were a treat to discover, and he's become my new favorite supporting character in an MM romance. All in all, this story had a lot to love--from its vibrant characters to its engaging story arc and fantastic romance. Rene and Edward ended up being a wonderful match, and the intimate moments they shared in and out of the bedroom made it clear that they had no intentions of walking away from each other at the end of their weekend stay.

**I voluntarily read an ARC of this book. This review expresses my honest thoughts and opinions.

A different kind of Daddy and boy

Wow! I'm just ... Wow! I can hardly even find the words for how good this book is and how much I loved it. I read a lot of Daddy/boy books and after a while you kind of start to anticipate how things are going to play out. Daddy and Little or Daddy Dom and sub. Sometimes the Daddies are older and sometimes younger. Sometimes it's Daddy's little boy and sometimes Daddy's princess. However, this story took a completely different kink route - one that caught me completely by surprise and absolutely enthralled me. Dollification. I remember reading something about this once long ago but I've never actually found it in a book like this one. Rene is absolutely the sweetest boy and so utterly lost and overwhelmed by life. Edward is instantly smitten with the beautiful, sad young man and, despite having no formal experience with BDSM, he resolves to being whatever Rene needs. Turns out it's what they both need! Add in a totally over-the-top, energetic Little, Sam, and you have a story that will equal parts grab your heart strings and titalate your senses. Chara Croft is the Queen of erotic words and she's totally lived up to her crown with this. I would give it 10* stars if I could and 100% recommend this! Hot, sweet, and heartwarming ... Perfect!

Aaand now I just found out about a kink that I didn’t know existed. Well I know something about it, like I know that it’s usually with a human and an inanimate object not a human with a human, plus I thought the title means putting on makeup, beautification etc the whole nine yards but it’s not really that aaaand I really need to get out from that rock I’ve been living under 😂 and I know I’m also currently abusing the words “I know” and now I’m hearing the Friends TV show cast simultaneously yelling “I Know” in my head 😩🙈🤣.

It’s insta love, low angst goodness with likeable
& lovable MCs and secondary characters especially Sam except shitstain Daryl and steamy sizzling smexy times 🔥🔥🔥 and a sweet and adorable epilogue that made me smile and say awwwwwww 🥰.

A different take on Daddy kink. Dollification was new to me but I could totally see the appeal in the scenes we got between "dollbaby" Rene and Daddy Edward - Rene craves being admired, positioned, and having decisions made for him. Edward loves providing those things. My gripes were that I found it odd that Edward was married for 15 years and didn't realize that he had had a very intense power dynamic with his spouse (anything's possible but still). I think I wanted more play between them and fewer anxieties that were seemingly cured by Daddy's presence. I was also frustrated that Rene and Edward verbally commit to each other but Rene thought they were role playing while doing so - not a fan of that kind of miscommunication.

Dollbaby...

Which is not quite the little/boy story that I was expecting. Don't get me wrong, Chara could write about anything and I'd be happy but for this series I was expecting a Daddy Dom/little dynamic.

I loved Edward and his controlling self to bits, but was not a big fan of Rene.

I loved Sam and all the others, so please spin this into a series about the kinky people of The Plum.

Edward may have started off jerk-like, but that didn't last long. Rene was such a sweetheart, so shy and in need of all the live.
