Rick, Rodrigo and Tara are in a race against time and the earth itself as their loved ones' lives hang in the balance in Aftershocks Book 6.
A desperate deal. A catastrophic disaster. A father who will stop at nothing to return home.
Far from home, a father makes a secret deal with the devil to secure his family’s future.
Alone on their rural homestead, his wife and child continue to eke out a quiet living, quietly counting the days until he returns.
When the mother of all earthquakes rips North and South America apart, the family’s survival skills will be tested more than they ever realize as they fight to survive - and reunite - in the face of overwhelming odds.
A mega-earthquake has devastated the American Midwestern seaboard and its effects are far-reaching, in Ravaged, Justin Bell and Mike Kraus' Book 6 in their dystopian Post-Apocalyptic extravaganza of a series, Aftershocks.
Former cartel member Rico Tavera meets LAPD Tara Greene, who's lost her whole family in the earthquake. He's on the run, trying to reunite with his wife Mia and their son, in Mexico. As the duo reaches El Paso they meet Rodrigo Gonzalez who survived the collapse of the oil rig he worked on in the Gulf of Mexico and they decide to go forward together, facing a danger never before seen in their lives. What's happening to Gillian Reynolds?
What will happen as another quake strikes and survivors are unprepared for the renewed devastation as the Cartel seizes power in the area and both his and Rodrigo's sons are trained to accept that he who holds the gun has the power over life and death? Can there ever be an HEA, while the US colludes with informants, (putting their and their loved ones lives at risk) to bring down the drugs and people-trafficking criminal gangs and their leader? Will Mia and Gillian survive too? Get your copy of Ravaged to find out!

I have read most of what Justin Bell has written. My impression is that his writing has gotten better with each series, and the Aftershocks books are his best so far (my opinion). I have always found his characters relatable and believable. He has discarded some devices that I thought were being over-used (e.g. he used to have chins hitting chests on every other page, but that's been scaled way back). There are still a few editing oversights (e.g. "been through the ringer" where "been through the wringer" would have made more sense), but that may be inevitable due to the rate at which he churns out new material and reliance on software editing. The Aftershocks story wrapped up cleanly with a very satisfactory ending. I'm looking forward to the next volume in the Breaking Point series.
As usual, thank you very much for the Prologue. This had a buildup to a great and exciting ending to this story. I did find it odd that Chavez would be so fixated on an unproven boy that was only ten years old. The earthquake events came at just the right time, having been pesky throughout the series. There were a few editing issue. At the point Rodrigo has been captured by Luiz and his bad guys, it suddenly says that Rico's shoulder was shoved against the wall. There were a few awkward sentences and a few that ended in prepositions (I know--the horror). Overall, this was a very fitting end to a generally good series.
Having the Cartel constantly searching for 10 yrs for Rico and his family should tell you the absolute worst possible situation there is. In the middle of huge earthquakes and the millions of lives, homes and everything imaginable lost finding the families would seem impossible. This book 6 shows the stoic attitude of the men and women who would fight to try and bring their families together again.
I loved every part of this series. The characters are incredible and will not be forgotten. Good and evil, love, passion for family and friends, bravery, human nature, human faults and folly, persistence, love of life, lessons, fears, hope and so many themes and emotions brought to life within the pages.
Enjoyed reading the entire series with plenty of action and a healthy dose of heart warming scenes. Quite different storyline switching between the U.S. and Mexico. People are the same wherever you go, some good, some not so good and downright meaner than a rabid dog.
I read all 6 books. I loved every single book. I fell in love with the characters. Rico, Mia, Max, brave Gillian, Rodrigo and his family. Horrible men like Chauviz exist and are evil. I truly hope we never experience earthquakes such as these. I am sad the series ended but so happy at the ending.
I loved this series it was so packed with action on every page. I did wonder would they all survive till the end, and, there were instances where I thought someone is surely going to die because how can they get themselves out of that situation. It all came together but then the SHTF again and again. I highly recommend Justin Bell and this series Aftershocks.
Just loved this story. Loved the characters and things that happened to them. You must read the whole series! The only bad thing about the series is that it ended!! Would love to read more about Mia, Rico and Max. You won't be sorry that you read these books.
I have enjoyed each book in this series but the final one was amazing. Every loose end tied up and justice finally against evil. I liked the characters and how each one came into their own. They are a great mix. The possibility of great quakes like this is really not fiction. This series brings out a lot of the what if's. What a rude and great read.
It was a fitting ending the cartel boss got what was coming. Wasted space and completely evil trying to brainwash children to kill people. Glad the main characters survived. I would hope they live all together off the grid. Loved this series.
A great ending that made me happy that things were going better. Kept me trying to guess what would happen next. Binge read the entire series twice. Absolutely can’t wait for more by these two talented writers.
This book captivated me from page one until the end….. even wanting it to continue! The story flowed…. The anxiety and reality of it all surreal. Kudos to the authors and thank you
I am a recent advocate of apocalyptic fiction and I have been enthralled and entertained by this excellent series. I am so glad I decided to try the first book. I certainly will be looking at other offerings by Justin Bell and Mike Kraus.
This series grew on me. The writing got better, thank you
I grew to really want to know what was going to happen to these people. That’s awesome writing. Thank you for a wonderful story, would make a great series.
This series kept me on edge, and always wanting more. The characters were more real to me, feeling their angst and horror of the unfolding events. This is one series I will re-read!
Great story line, strong character development and very interesting to see how the characters changed and grew in the series. I am sorry that I just finished the last book in thus series!. Maybe soon, there will be a #7?
A good series and compelling drama. So many things happening on all fronts. It may have gotten a little long in the tooth, but like Justin I don't know what you would take out. Enjoyed it immensely.
Yes this definitely is a great series!! Putting it in my top 10. What a way to tie everything together in the final book! Tremendous writing at its best! Thank you!! I prefer long series myself !!
This end of the series provides everything you could possibly. Lot of action , emotions, a and a great ending. It is wee worth the wait for a great ending.
