A sinister presence. A cursed child. A battle for the soul.
When a reckless law student and his sharp-witted friend Ann cross paths with Bernard—a drunken stranger who claims to be the Antichrist—their curiosity leads them down a chilling path of terror and obsession. But Bernard is only the beginning. In the shadows lurks Ruby Pearson, a teenage girl with a heart of darkness and a taste for chaos. Through her, something ancient and malevolent is unleashed: Cusala—a demon that feeds on the weak and devours the faithful.
As the bodies mount and madness spreads, an enigmatic American exorcist named Mathew arrives, bringing with him a deadly resolve and a warning: Cusala cannot be destroyed—only contained. But when evil seeks a new vessel, no one is safe, and no soul is beyond corruption.
From university flats to convent halls, from occult rituals to a final confrontation in a remote mine shaft, Cusala weaves a pulse-pounding tale of horror, faith, and the thin line between predator and prey.
Can humanity fight a monster born from its own darkest desires? Or will Cusala reign forever—through the flesh of the innocent?
Brace yourself for a gripping thriller where the battle between good and evil is anything but clear.
"A chilling, unputdownable blend of psychological horror and supernatural suspense—Cusala cements Jack Freestone as a master of modern terror." – Daily Telegraph NZ
I will begin by saying that I listened to the audiobook, which was narrated by Freestone. I think that there was something lost in the narration. I think the story was good and I probably would have enjoyed reading it much more than listening. No offense Jack, I narrated one of my short stories and decided against publishing the audio because, as well as I know the story I am not a professional narrator.
