***2.5 Stars***

We only regret the chances we didn't take.

And you know what? For the majority of this book, there wasn't anyone taking any chances or doing shit about anything.

Well, except for me. I was doing this.

Oh, and Dare and Noah were doing this.

And after finishing this book, I sit here like this.

This series is now two for two when it comes to a great idea but the author fumbling with the execution. The plot here was seriously underdeveloped and had no sense of direction....because I'm sorry to break it to you, but running around in circles for chapters on end gets you nowhere....except with a kink in your neck watching the MC's run those circles.

Fifteen years ago, Dare (19) walked away from Noah (23) when he realized after two years of dating that Noah wasn't willing to move their relationship forward. Dare was ready to move in with him and start their life together, but Noah thought Dare was too young and wasn't ready for that type of commitment. Heartbroken, Dare sneaks out and leaves Noah in the middle of the night.

Now, 15 years later, the two find themselves face to face and stuck together on a cruise ship for Cam and Gannon's wedding. And naturally, all those old feelings have resurfaced....anger, resentment, confusion, yearning....love. Neither man has had a serious relationship in the years they've been apart for fear of enduring the same heartbreak again.

But now, not only are they stuck together on a cruise ship, but in the same room....could this be the beginning of a second chance at love or the opportunity to finally let the other man go?

As mentioned earlier, Dare and Noah spend the majority of this book going around in circles.....let me refresh your memory of poor me....

They're still incredibly attracted to each other and none of the love has dimmed over the years, however neither man is willing to actually dredge up the past and talk about that night when things ended, or the reasons behind their split.

There's A LOT of internal dialogue, but no real communication. Tons of push and pull...but not the fun and sexy kind...this was frustrating and annoying.

Dare and Noah buried all of their feelings and apprehension behind sexual innuendos...and eventually sex, trying to keep each other at arm's length. Instead of evoking angst and years of yearning for what could have been, their actions frustrated me and disconnected me from being invested in their relationship.

Once these two finally got on the same page and "hashed" things out, it was full steam ahead with the accelerator pressed to the floor.

Unfortunately, even by the end of the book they never TRULY have a discussion that fully addresses what went wrong all those years ago...I closed my kindle and that night 15 years ago still felt unresolved.

Also, as was the case with the first book, I'm finding it hard to find a correlation between the title of these books and the story and characters....because I'm sorry, but there wasn't anything fearless about either of these men.

The Bright Spots?

♥ Hudson and Teague
♥ Cam and Gannon's wedding
♥ Nicole Edwards writes good sex

I'm equal parts excited and terrified of Hudson and Teague's book (which is next). They've been a carrot (okay, chocolate) dangled in front of me since the first book....but with how this series has panned out so far, I'm worried I'll get another underdeveloped story. I'm hoping that Nicole Edwards does them justice and gives them the story they deserve.

The second story in the Pier 70 series, a series centered around 4 best friends who own a marina together, concentrates on Dare. Funny, silly, happy-go-luck Dare. He uses his humor as a shied to keep men away because he does not do relationships. He learned his lesson after breaking it off with the man of his dreams, Noah Pearson, 15 years ago after Noah wouldn't take their relationship to the next level after 2 years of dating. He walked out on Noah in the middle of the night with no note, no goodbye. He just left. And, get this. The 2 men didn't see each other for 15 years. No emails, no phone calls, no snail mail, no texts. Nothing. And they only live 30 minutes apart!

So, allow me to take off my suspend-disbelief glasses™ (thanks Renee!) for a moment. You are in a serious, committed relationship with a person, break it off without saying goodbye and never talk again until you bump into each other on a cruise ship 15 years later? Really?

That was a tough pill to swallow. I mean, I dated a guy for 3 years back in collage, have been happily married to the father of my child for 23 years and I still manage to stalk his Facebook every few years. Come on!

OK, let's get past that. So Noah and Dare meet up again on a cruise to celebrate Cam and Gannon's wedding (yay!) and, thanks to their mutual meddling friend Milly, wind up in the same cabin. I have to say, some matchmaking is fun, but Milly took it to levels of incredible annoyance. Geez, I just wanted her to leave the boys alone!

There is hurt and a whole lot of anger between Noah and Dare, so you'd think they'd be running out to find new sleeping arrangements for the 7 day cruise but, nope! Instead they torture each other with sexual innuendos while angsting and lusting after each other in their inner monologues. It was exhausting! And the sexual tension was off-the-charts, but the bad kind of off-the-chart. It felt so uncomfortable and suffocating. And I hate to say this, but once the sex started? It did nothing for me. There was dominance and dirty talk and I couldn't have cared less. I had no emotional connection to these two men. I eventually stopped caring.

Once they were off the ship and back to their respective homes (30 miles from each other!) I had lost all interest. I started skimming until the relationship resolution, much was the opposite of romantic, and them the rest of the book was 90% sex. Oh, and I skimmed that too. When have I ever skimmed the sex? Like, almost never! But without an emotional connection, it's all just porn to me. I'd rather watch my porn then read it.

I just flat out can't recommend this one. I did enjoy Cam and Gannon in Reckless, even with it's flaws, but Dare's story was a dud for me.

3 stars : book 2 in the Pier 70 series about 4 friends owning a marina. Book 1 was about Cam and Gannon. Book 2 is about Dare, the fun guy from the band, and Noah, his past lover from 15 years ago.

Dare was deeply in love with Noah when he was nineteen and wanted to spend his life with him, but Noah thought Dare was too young. Tired of waiting and deeply wounded, Dare turned his back to Noah and went with his life. Fifteen years after their break-up, Dare and Noah get reunited on a ship during Cam and Gannon’s weeding. The sparks and the chemistry are still there, but clouded with pain and heartbreak.

Nicole Edwards is one of my favorite authors and it was nice to reacquaint with the Pier 70 owners. However, because, yes, there is a “however”, I struggled with this book until 70% of the story. Too “soap opera” for me : I couldn't believe the MCs were 34 and 39 years old, I didn’t buy the cat and mouse game they were playing and a lot of the events during the cruise felt unrealistic.
And then, once the MCs were back to land, that’s when I reconnected with Nicole Edwards’s writing. Finally, finally (what a long wait...), I could relate to the characters, how they tried to deal with their past relationship and fight to get a future together. Because of the last part of the story, my rating went from 2 to 3.

I felt disappointed with this book, but will still look forward to reading the next book, Speechless, about Hudson and Teague (have been waiting for their story right from book 1!)

Again, I’m going to let my original rating stand even though I didn’t enjoy it that much this time. I’m not sure how many times I’ve read this, but I know this wasn’t just the second time.

It took me a long time to like Noah this time around. I’ve always loved Dare’s fun-loving attitude, but Noah seemed like an ass for so long. It wasn’t until the 83% mark that the two MCs FINALLY had a conversation about everything and got on the same page. I was annoyed that it took that long. From that point forward, it was a 5 star read. Prior to that, I’d probably give it about 3 stars.

(Interesting side note: 5/2022 - I just checked my rating on Amazon and I only gave it 3 stars there. Maybe I just gave it 4 stars on GR based on what I thought I remembered. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Apparently I really did think this was a 3 star read.)

I am a huge Nicole Edwards fan and "Ethan" is one of my all time favorite mm books :)
I have been (un)patiently waiting for this book ever since I've read the previous book. I was very curious about Dare and his story. This book however almost drove me to drink !!

The push and pull between the two MC's made me insane !!

 photo push-300x237_zps3jtabgcs.gif

Dare is a partial owner of the marina he works at. We were introduced to the marina and the guys who own it in book 1. Dare is a funny, happy go lucky kinda guy who is always in for a joke and dare I say..a dare (see what I did there hehe). What he isn't, however, is lucky in love. He doesn't want to be either. He's not some kind of manwhore, but ever since walking away from the love of his life 15 years ago....he isn't interested in relationships anymore.

When he was 19, he was deeply in love with 23 year old Noah. They were together for 2 years, but when Dare tried to bring up the subject of living together and having more with Noah, the man shut him dow. Noah told Dare he was still a kid, who was too young to make those kind of commitments. Dare was extremely hurt by Noah's remarks and decided to leave Noah that same night.

Noah has never forgotten about Dare. He hasn't been in a real relationship ever since. He also has some resentment towards Dare, because his father died, the same night Dare left him. He knows it's not right to blame Dare for this, but his father was on his way to comfort Noah, because of Dare leaving him. For this reason, he never went after Dare....

Now 15 years later, these two men some face to face again. Cam and Gannon (book 1) are about to get married on a cruise-ship. Dare is invited because he's one of Cam's best friends. Noah is Milly's stepbrother and since Milly is Gannon's best friend, she invited her stepbrother along.
She also thinks it would be a good idea, to set these to men up together....not knowing they have a history together. What will happen when these two men, are forced to spend time and space together....

I enjoyed this book, but there were some things that pissed me off and drove me a bit insane. First of all...Milly. Damn but I really didn't like her in this book. She made all kinds of decisions, that were not hers to make. I hated the fact that she seemed to think, that everything should be the way she wanted. What pissed me off even more was that everyone just went along with that shit. She could see with her own eyes that these men still had a lot of issues between them and yet she still had them share a room ?? I would have told that bitch to mind her own bussiness and to go fuck herself !! But noooo, these guys don't want to seem weak so they go along with her little sceme. Which includes sharing a room and sharing all meals together at the same table...

Then there was the push and pull between these two. I want him...no I don't...yes I do. I should forget anout the past....no I can't forget about the past. I love him.....no I don't, I'm not supposed to love him. Arrrggghhhh drove me insane !!

Once they get together though....they were HOT !! It took some time, but damn when they did. Two hot versatile, dirty talking men going at it !!

 photo i-love-it-riique_zpsmosg0vks.jpg

What can I say....dirty talk is my kryptonite, makes me go al weak in the knees ;)

So eventhough half the book drove me insane, I still very much enjoyed it. I can't wait to read the next one, because I'm very curious about Teague and Hudson. I just hope Milly won't be in that one.

3,5 - 4 stars for this one. I'm rounding up because of the dirty talking and because I really did like Dare, he was very sweet and funny.

This was book 2 in the "Pier 70" series. Dare Davis is one of the four owner of Pier 70 Marina. Dare fell in love as a teenager but he wanted more and when he didn't get it he left with a broken heart for 15 years he has lived his life fearless. With Gannon and Cam wedding cruise he is it with a blast from the past. Noah Pearson is Milly's step-brother he agrees to go on the cruise and runs into the one that got away. These two had a lot of hurt between them. The day that Dare left him his Noah's father was killed in a care accident and for awhile he blamed Dare. These two are stuck in the same cabin. They each have changed Noah wants more in the past he wasn't ready. Dare only wants sex and it was hot in fact it was almost too much sex in this book. I wanted more of a backstory about Dare about how he felt about being raised by his grandmother it was said that his mother of a drug addict. Overall this was a really good read that I listened to on audio as well as reading it. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling I also loved the narrators voice. I am looking forward to reading or listening to the next book in this series.

Overall book rating: 4.3 Stars
Audio book: N/A
Book Cover: 3 Stars
MC1: Dare Davis - Marina co owner
MC2: Noah Pearson - Firefighter

I really don't know how she does it but this book had a special feel to it, I don't know how to explain it but it was different and I so love this story.

We have Dare with his pierced nipples - all sexy as hell
description

And we have Noah all sexy firefighter
description

And the chemistry between them is out of this world!!!

Nicole Edwards just have a way with words, it's like you feel every word.

I normally don't like to read books about old love and second chances but somehow she made it work. It was a bit drawn out but still a pretty good story to read.

M/M. This book would have been very close to 5 stars if it had just focused on the Dare/Noah relationship, two guys who had desperately loved each other 15 years ago but parted on less than happy terms but now meet again on a wedding cruise for another gay couple. I loved both Dare and Noah even though there was a lot of push and pull in the relationship (and lots and lots of steamy sex).

What I didn't really care for was the focus on a lot of side characters that didn't interest me at all. I found myself skipping through those snippets to get back to Dare and Noah. I assume the other characters might have been from other past or future books but I think they really detracted from a good story.

Really enjoyed this next installment although I must say Dare & Noah frustrated the hell out of me at times ! I was glad to see them finally reconcile after 15 years of mindless connections that just didn't work. These soul mates eventually found their groove ! Looking forward to the next book❤️❤️

This series is definitely going to be one of my favorites!
This one is as good as the first one and can not wait to get started with the next one in the series! I'm so glad I've found her books.

One thing i didn't like
Milly helping hand in book one was ok, bc it was done in such a cute way, but in this one she is too much.
I don't hope she is the one who has to "save" the relationship between the men for the rest of the series.

ATTENZIONE!

Pier 70 is about a group of men owning and running a marina. Fearless is Dare's story, but it also features the rest of the gang. It's all about relationships including romances, friendships and families. To me it felt a little deeper than book 1, but I would still consider it a fairly light read.

Dare and Noah were a young couple 15 years ago. Things didn't end well for them. After not crossing paths since their breakup, they end up on a cruise ship as part of the same wedding party. Both men go through a bunch of feelings including regret, denial, anger, longing, desire, etc. They are the one that got away to each other, but they both have some baggage from when they separated to get over.

While Dare and Noah are trying to let what they had go or find a way to start again, they have several fun and sexy moments. The rest of the wedding party is busy getting into things too. I must mention Dare's grandmother. She made me smile with her frank way of speaking whatever is on her mind.

This wasn't a mind blowing story for me, but it's the kind that hits the spot perfectly if you're wanting some sweet, sexy, fun romance. I liked this one more than book one. It has a little more pep, and I've gotten to know the characters better. Yes, I recommend it.

5 Star review of Fearless (Pier 70 #2) by Nicole Edwards
This is the second book in the Pier 70 series and I loved it. This is an M/M story; about a second chance at love. It begins 15 years earlier and then bullets into the present. I love how Ms. Edwards set up this story and their history from the beginning.
Although a stand-alone, I would recommend you read Reckless, book 1 first, as you will get a better understanding of the Pier 70 owners and the secondary characters.
Dare Davis is one of the owners of Pier 70 Marina, a fun loving guy who hides behind laughter, never letting anyone get too close. Behind the laughter, hides a heart not fully healed from a break up 15 years ago when he walked away from the only man he has ever loved. Dare has no intention of ever getting hurt again. He has never told his friends about Noah.
Noah Peterson, four years older, is the man who loved Dare but let him walk away, fearing he was too young (at 19) to know what he truly wanted. Not going after him is his biggest regret. Although he has tried to have relationships, he has always compared his lovers to Dare.
All the owners of Pier 70 Marina are in attendance. What no one knows is that Milly’s step brother (who has also been invited) is Noah Peterson. Dare and Noah are both shocked to see each other again when they arrive on the ship.
Milly has always planned to try and match Noah and Dare up, so she arranges for them to share a cabin. No one is more surprised than Milly when she realises that these two already have an intense history together.
Do you believe in second chances? What happens when Dare and Noah both realise that they still have feelings for each other? Will they act on their attraction or bury their heads in the sand and ignore their obvious feelings?
Nicole Edwards is one of the best authors around when it comes to writing M/M stories in my humble opinion.
Fearless is not only an extremely hot read, with sizzling sex scenes but a beautiful love story: showing that a second chance at love can happen when it is meant to be. Not only that, but I often found myself laughing at some of the antics not only of Dare and Noah, but also some of the secondary characters whom I also love.
One of the things I most enjoy about Nicole Edwards’ books is that she doesn’t just focus on the two main characters; she always ensures we get an overall story with no one being left out.
I particularly enjoyed her references to Hudson and Teague and am anxious to see how their relationship plays out. This was an emotional rollercoaster at times, wondering if Dare and Noah would ever actually get their act together.

Fearless by Nicole Edwards

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 1/2 stars

The joy that can only come after reading a Nicole Edwards book is the state I'm in!!! Dare and Noah are freaking spectacular. Mrs Edwards makes you not only need a glass of ice water next to you while you read but she sucks you in with the heart and soul of each character.

This is a second chance romance, which is usually hit and miss for me but this was a hit. It's written in a way that it's not forced or unbelievable. It's so real. These two men walked away from each other and instead of taking their hearts with them, left them. For years they have each been living but have no life! It was beautiful to see them break down each wall and learn to let go of past hurts and fight for what they want.

Let me also just say it was freaking hot as heck! This woman can write a hot M/M sex scene!! Haha but it also has heart so it was a win win

I am loving this new Nicole Edwards series. It's true that I've loved just about every book of hers that I've ever read, but still...I get a thrill when I discover that, once again, she's performed her magic. Reading some reviews others wrote, it seems that a common complaint about this book is the slow pace of the relationship. I can relate, I suppose, but it never got to the place where it was annoying to me. Especially when you consider that these two once had a deep, loving relationship together. The kind of hurt these two experienced would probably make them move slowly into a new relationship. I loved the wedding of Cam and Gannon and the hint of a new relationship for book #3. I'd recommend this series to all of my friends!

I really love this series and I love Nicole Edwards' writing. She has that power to suck you in and make you stay.

I loved Dare from the moment I read Reckless. He's the kind of character you tend to fall for immediately. He's funny and sarcastic, but he also has a soft side - especially for his best fiends.

This is definitely a story about second chances. I really enjoyed Noah and Dare's dynamic. They just have that spark together that only happens once in a lifetime.

My only complaint, and this is honestly just me and my personal opinion: towards the end there is A LOT of sex (of course it's hot as hell!), but I found myself skimming through some of those scenes because there were so many. Otherwise, the story was great and I can't wait to read the next one!

Just when you think Pier 70 couldn't get any sexier, it does! This book brings the whole crew together for Cam and Gannon's wedding. There is a whole lot of surprises in story with unexpected match making. Noah and Dare loved each other 15 years ago but couldn't make it work. They are given a second chance to find the love that they shared but will it be enough. Looking forward to Teague and Hudson's story!!

Finally finished!!!! This was a total case of its not you, it's definitely me. I just could not get into this. I was fighting tooth and nail to finish, and that's only because I am so excited to Teague and Hudson's story. Dare and Noah just irritated me throughout about 75% of the book.

Oh well. Onto the next...

3.5/5 rounded down.

My bar was set pretty low by Reckless, so Fearless was a nice surprise. For the most part, I loved this one. I really liked Dare and Noah. I liked the concept for the plot (intense love separated by 15 years and reunited by chance). But I had a lot of issues with how it was handled.

So this gif pretty much sums up my major issue with this book:

No one talked about their issues, we didn't get everything out in the open between them until like 80% of the way through. I want to say the communication problems start with Noah not apologizing to Dare, like, first thing after they realize they're stuck on the ship together. But they actually start with Noah being a fucking clueless 23 year old who couldn't talk his way out of a paper bag. I mean, honestly. That last conversation they had before Dare left, we get it from both sides, so if one of them had just said what they felt then this whole damn book could have been avoided. Noah should have apologized to Dare for being an asshole much sooner. There were so many opportunities and after each one I started getting more and more pissed off.

Also, Dare needed to man up and tell Noah what the fuck was happening in his head. The whole "I only want sex" thing gets dragged out way to long. I was so irritated by the 3rd time Noah walks away from him because Dare can't get his head out of his damned ass. I really wanted to grab them both and shake the stupid out of them. I got tired of Noah putting himself out there, Dare being an idiot and forcing Noah away, and then Noah getting roped back in. It was exhausting and repetitive. It didn't need to happen more than once.

Also, I loved the characterization of Dare but parts of his personality were dropped along the way. Parts that I really liked. After the first few chapters, he stops with the random and adorable factoids/statistics. I wish Nicole Edwards had kept that up. Also, unlike Cam who I didn't feel was all that reckless, Noah actually felt pretty fearless in all aspects outside of love. He never said no to a dare, and I liked that.

The only other major issue I had with this book is the focus on Milly/AJ. I really didn't care much for it, and don't see the purpose it served. I was okay with the Teague/Hudson stuff for the most part, though I didn't think it was entirely necessary. The book is about Dare/Noah, the focus should have been on Dare/Noah. We don't need to see the ins and outs of 1) a relationship I don't really care about or 2) a relationship that is getting its own book. These both could have been accomplished in much shorter segments without necessitating and POV from Milly or Hudson. There are ways to draw attention to side plots that don't require you to take a weird detour for a few chapters and ignore your main story entirely.

I actually understood the relationship between Noah and Dare here. They make sense as a couple and they are interesting on their own as characters. The writing was good, so was the sex (these are the only two reasons I continued with the series after Reckless, and again they impressed). The plot could have been tighter, along with the characterization of mostly Dare. But all in all, solid read. Not the best read, but solid.

Flucht? Aussichtslos.

The things we do to each hurt each other linger for years. Dare and Noah were together for about two years when Dare was 19 and Noah was 23. Dare was in love with Noah, knew what he wanted and wanted to move to the next step - together. Noah, for several reasons, dismissed Dare, told him he was a kid, too young, to know what he wanted. Fast forward 15 years and they see each other again on a destination wedding cruise. Cam and Gannon, from book 1, are getting married. Dare, Cam, Roan, Hudson and the other guys work at the marina at Pier 70. Milly, who works for Gannon, is organizing the party and cruise activities. Noah is her stepbrother and goes on the cruise at the request of his stepfather who says Milly needs a chaperone, of sorts. Boy the hurt feelings between these two guys, particularly Dare, just oozed out of the page. Broke my heart! There is clearly a spark still there and the fun part of this book was watching it light up. They end up in the same cabin (of course, it's a romance!!) and spend their time trying not to touch each other. Cute story, hawt sexy bits and loved the re-awakening of Dare and Noah's love. Now fellow Goodreaders, don't throw shoes at me but I HATED Milly. Nosy, silly, obnoxious, smirking Milly who wanted a guy with a pierced penis, who wouldn't stay out of Noah's business, who bossed people around like she was Queen Bee. Ugh, she drove me nuts and lessened my enjoyment of the book. That scene close to the end at Noah's mother and stepdad's house.... I wanted to jump in my kindle and strangle her. Now back to Dare and Noah "he never wanted to stop touching this man... feeling him. For the first time in fifteen years, his heart felt full, all the cracks mended, all the pieces put back together." You just never know how your words and actions can wound someone for years. That emotion, that feeling was conveyed brilliantly. Some writers/authors are just authors and then some are storytellers. Ms. Edwards is a storyteller. Nicely done, Ms. Edwards. Just lose Milly, please.
