Nearly Her: It isn't always easy being the beautiful twin

Rate this book

"I thought we weren't doing this?" She dreaded his answer. Hated herself for being responsible for even the briefest of pauses to his passionate assault. "We shouldn't, but I can't... not." His breath was ragged against her neck and she tilted her chin up renewing his access. He couldn't not do it. She nodded, if only to herself, the feeling all too familiar.

It isn't easy being the beautiful sister.

Jill would know, she's both beautiful and accustomed to getting things easily. So watching her identical twin struggle to pay off a mountain of medical debt was tough. Jill, a model turned temp secretary, is ready to mortgage her lovelife to help her sister. Whatever it takes. Even if it means marrying Chicago's most famous bachelor. Unless she finds another way.

Doing a bad thing for a good reason isn't terrible? Is it?

With modelling contracts getting harder to come by, Jill tries on her sister's resume - they are twins after all. Landing the job is only half the battle, there's a bonus if she manages to entrap her boss in dangerous liaisons. But Ben Cross isn't the bad guy she's set up to meet. He's clever, nerdy and hot as all heck.
As her marriage of convenience approaches, Jill has a choice; go to Switzerland to oversee the PR event of Ben's career, or help her sister. But maybe, taking this job will grant her the freedom she's always needed. Sometimes being someone else is the best chance you can have to meet yourself.

Will she fall in love or stay NEARLY HER?

Katie Frey has spent the better part of her adult life in pursuit of her own happily ever after. Said pursuit involved international travel, several false starts and a few red herrings before she moved from Canada to Switzerland. Once in the land of cheese and wine, she was quickly enchanted by both the mountains and the mountain men—one of the latter in particular!

She now lives in a small hamlet on the outskirts of Lausanne, where she mostly enjoys getting lost in the woods – but never so far as to not be found by her two little gremlin daughters, and free-range chickens. Grateful that her romantic misadventures gave her lots of fodder for her writing, she often disappears to write in local coffee shops. Any excuse to stay near the fresh croissants! Nearly Wed is her first work of commercially available fiction.

Merci and Bon Appetit!

This is book three in The Chicago Lights Series and it is Jill and Ben's story and omg it is a must read. Jill did modelling gigs and she was also helping her twin sister Ellie pay off her medical bills from when she had cancer. Jill always thought that she was beautiful and could have anyone that she wanted and she was better than anyone else and she was so vain where as Ellie was beautiful inside and out and quiet and reserved always thinking of others before herself. Ben needed an assistant as he was CEO for the Norse Enterprise but at a fundraiser that he really didn't want to be at he meets a beautiful woman in the men's bathroom and then she shows up at his business saying that she is his new assistant but things don't always go as planned. As Ben and Jill get closer there feelings for each other grows stronger but what will happen when all of Jill's secrets and betrayal are revealed, will it break them apart of will it make them stronger and change Jill's views on life and not be so self centred or will she lay for everything that she has done to others. I absolutely loved this book and I couldn't put it down as it was so addictive and a real page turner. I definitely recommend you read this book and series and you will definitely not be disappointed as Katie Frey is an amazing author and writer and her books are definitely worth reading.

Wow, another amazing novel from Katie Frey! I absolutely loved it. It is rare to find a series where all books are as excellent as the first but this is the case with the 3rd instalment of the Chicago Lights series. Just like Nearly Wed: Does A Twin By Any Other Name Taste As Sweet? and Nearly Late: Sometimes I'm Sorry Isn't Enough, this story was fun, sexy, fast-paced, yet thought-provoking and touching. If anything Nearly Her felt even more polished.

In this instalment we experience the events of Nearly Wed from the twin Jill's side. It felt like returning to old friends. The characters are still as loveable and well-rounded as always and this was filled with even more twists and turns to really keep us guessing. It is a great addition to the series, but will also be thoroughly enjoyable read as a stand alone novel.

I couldn't stop reading. I started this book Friday evening and by Saturday midday I had finished it and was left feeling rather empty! I'm enthralled by this world and Katie Frey's writing style - I really don't want the series to end but I am excited for the release of the epilogue story.

EACH BOOK IS MORE AMAZING!

This amazing FIVE STAR book is the third in the Chicago Lights Series and each one is just as amazing as the last! In Nearly Her, we get Jill's POV of what was happening in Nearly Wed, when Jill runs off to Switzerland with her boss, Ben, while her twin sister Ellie marries Jill's fiance, Luke. I deeply disliked Jill in Nearly Wed, however, in getting her side of the story in this lovely book, she more than redeems herself!

Jill is not the shallow, selfish twin I had believed her to be. She has a deep and abiding love for family and friends (to include fish, lol) and would do anything for them. She proves this several times over in assuming responsibility for her sister's debts, health, and welfare, including her love life and happiness. I was completely surprised by a lot of the decisions Jill made, she shocked me in a good way and I was proud of her! She is a twin that deserves Ellie and vice versa.

I love Ben. He is such a good man and it took me a while to figure out what was going on in his workplace. He and Jill are such a good match. She is so resourceful and can do anything once she puts her mind to it. I didn't want this book to end! I am so excited to read Noah's story next

I LOVED this story so much. Jill and Ben are amazing together and Jill does shake his world!!
Jill secretly uses her twin's identity and starts working as an executive assistant to Ben Cross, the CEO of a growing company. They relocate to Europe for a few months on business and I loved their chemistry and their time together in Switzerland. I adore Ben.
I was thrilled to learn that the next book would be Noah's and though I know it will be an emotional rollercoaster I can't wait to read it!!

A very smart and sexy story! "Nearly Her" can totally be read as a stand-alone story, but it's even better having read "Nearly Wed," since there are overlapping scenes told from different points of view. Very smart! Ms. Frey takes the reader on a fun journey to Switzerland that I really enjoyed! Bra Gjort! (Hope I got that right! Well done!

Katie does it again, bringing the reader into The Chicago Lights series. This time from the perspective of Jill, the model and "perfect" twin.

I love how each new book explores the group's dynamic, struggles, and triumphs but from a different character's perspective. Its interesting to see how each character interprets and internalize the events of their lives and those around them.

While I didn't have as big of an emotional response to this book than ones in the past, I still really enjoying reading her work. I can't wait to read the next book and find out whose perspective I get to see 😁

A lovely and somewhat steamy story. I loved reading Jill’s story and honestly, who doesn’t enjoy a dreamy CEO story?!

It can be read standalone but I’d definitely recommend reading the others so you know the other characters stories as well.

I've been waiting for Jill's story! Determined, confident Jill finally meets her match in this fun, fast paced love story. It's also cool to see how Frey weaves in the other stories that are happening simultaneously. Highly recommend!

Nearly Her is book 3 in the Chicago Lights series, but can definitely be read as a standalone. I don’t even know where to begin. I LOVED this story so much. Jill is an identical twin who couldn’t be more opposite from her sister, Ellie. Jill is a model-gorgeous, self confident & refined. She loves her people hard, but doesn’t show it in the most obvious ways. While Ellie is riddled with debt from cancer, Jill concocts a plan to marry Luke Hamilton, Chicago’s most eligible bachelor (and Ellie’s not so secret crush). This marriage of convenience is really a business transaction; Luke gets a wife & Jill gets the cash to pay off Ellie’s medical debt. Jill secretly uses Ellie’s identity & starts working as an executive assistant to the yummy Ben Cross when her modeling career slows down. When she must travel to Switzerland for her job, she decides she can’t go through with the wedding, but it’s nothing a good ole twin swap can’t solve. Ben is intelligent, sexy & guarded. He’s the CEO of a growing company & is in charge of the Swiss expansion. Jill & Ben grow closer the more they work together & their chemistry in undeniable. Jill has secrets & Ben hates liars. I really enjoyed the dynamics of these two. They really did bring out the best in each other & pushed one another past their comfort zone. Jill & Ben both have a lot of layers & I enjoyed watching them learn to be vulnerable & put their trust in each other. The side characters are great & I can’t wait for sweet Noah’s HEA. Katie has a way with words making it hard to put her books down. I highly recommend this book & series.

“I LOVE YOU BEN,” Jill answered, voice sure. “And I, you.” No name to punctuate the sentiment. “Me?” she smiled. “You.”

I received an arc of this book & this is my honest opinion.

You will be left smiling after you escape the tangled web she weaves...

What lengths would you go to to ensure an easier life for the only family you had left? What if that family was your identical twin who had years of cancer treatment?

Jill is a whirling swirling body of contradictions… it took me a while but I did finally realise her heart is in the right place, and Gill too! (Cryptic… Haha! The answer is in the book! 🤭)

Ben Cross… what can I say! I liked him from the beginning… but he brings his own challenges to the table... he also seems to help our heroine focus! Is that even possible? 🤔

I thought their challenges, you know a sister switch might have caused enough chaos… but 🤣 If this girl cannot get herself in a muddle…

When I wasn't sitting on the side of my seat, 🙈 not being able to read the next bit because… Sheesh!...  worrying about how she would survive her next round of self-induced chaos… I really enjoyed reading my ARC copy of this book! My opinions are my own!

And I cannot wait to see Noah find his peace, in the next edition! 💖☕📚

What are you waiting for? Happy Reading! 💖☀️⛱️

The best yet! This book brings the whole story together beautifully with just the right amount of page turning mixed with the build up of passion. Well done Katie! But I need more…I need Noah to get his happy ending too.

I looked forward to this third novel (the third in the Chicago Lights Series), as I got to know and like the full cast of characters from the first two books. Jill’s story is a rollicking trip set in the Swiss Alps. The author brought the setting to life with great skill—I could see the castle, felt as if I was there, and could almost taste the food.
While Ben is a romantic dreamboat, the same cannot be said for Jill. I didn’t like some things she did in the second book, and this was more of the same as we learn more about her. Also, I couldn’t connect with this main character who lies with such ease (and I don't mean the identity switch), and sometimes seems plain mean, but maybe that’s just me. I even put the book down for a week before I could get to the end.
Having said that, she mercifully undergoes some growth in her character as she gets caught up in the tangled web she weaved.
Finally, the story is well written, has a magnificent setting, snappy dialogue, and contains all-round entertainment.

Yes, Yes, Yes! Love it and oh my god! Jill and Ben are made to be together even though, well, nothing is as it seems. Their story isn’t easy from the beginning but I loved Jill’s determination and her attitude.

In the previous book we meet Jill, the beautiful, confident twin, who would enter into a marriage of convenience just to repay the debt Ellie's medical bills have incurred. She also assumes Ellie's identity to use her resume to apply for an executive assistant job.
The morning of wedding Jill confesses her love for someone else and hence The Great Twin Swap.
Jill is in fact in love with her new boss Ben, this book is their story and you also get Jill's POV in regards to the content covered in the first book.

This was well written, and having grown up with identical twins as friends I know this happens...I also know your true friends would never mistake the two 😉
