Abby Ryan has her whole life planned out, up until graduation that is. As a journalism major at the University of Southern Washington, she has one goal in mind for her last semester of senior year: secure a scholarship for grad school. But when a scholarship opportunity arises that requires her to write a feature article on USW's star basketball player and notorious playboy, Tristan Beck, lines start to blur and Abby soon realizes that staying focused can be hard when you're trying not to fall in love.
Tristan Beck has been focused on one thing since he started at USW on a full-ride scholarship: put up the numbers and bust his ass to get drafted into the NBA after graduation. With only a semester standing between him and the draft, he knows that this is his last chance to impress the scouts. When Abby Ryan, a witty and magnetic journalism student, asks to interview him for an article, he knows the publicity will be beneficial, but when they start spending time together and he realizes that he might want her in more than his typical hook-up-only fashion, he has to remind himself of why he refuses to date, and where his priorities need to lie.
Don't be fooled by a sudden influx of 5 star reviews, the authors trying to turn it into a contest that if you leave her a satisfactory review (that she will check, of course!) then you might win an arc.
This is a wattpad book and the author left WP because she tried to gatekeep popular genres and bully anyone who wrote college sport romances (and instigated her fans to do it for her as well), and she's also a white author who uses Mexican and Hispanic stereotypes. A book uses DACA as a plot twist to keep two characters apart- and that's all its used as.
I first read this book about 2 years ago on wattpad. At the time reading wasn't something I was too interested in, but I wanted to find something that was different. Something we'll written and exciting. Then I found Write Me Off and I fell in love. I think I read the whole thing in 2 days. I just couldn't put it down. It made me fall back in love with reading for the first time since I was a kid. I couldn’t believe such an incredible story was free and on wattpad. When Brandy announced she was publishing it and taking it off of the app, it was bitter sweet. I was both so so proud of her and sad that I had to wait a year to read it again for the 10th time. I've been following her journey and am so excited to read the published version of a book and universe that I already love. Write Me Off is one of those stories that stick with you and I hope everyone who reads it again or who is just now reading it for the first time experience the same magic that I have. Congrats Brandy.
if you’re my friend and you read & genuinely enjoy this book, i’ll drop you immediately. faster than brandy davis could apologize for her mistakes (again). i legit don’t care WHO YOU ARE. this woman makes me want to kick drop myself and send my soul out of existence
If there is a book I compare all my other reads to, it’s this. It’s everything written by this author. When I tell you, it takes a lot for me to be like “yup this is 5 stars worthy”, I mean it. A picky reader you could say. But I literally cannot explain how often I sit down to read and my thoughts wonder off to “Brandy would’ve definitely done something different here and I know she would make it so it adds to her characters” or I’ll find myself texting my best friend and saying tell me B wouldn’t have made this book 10x better.
Now onto this book specifically - Write Me Off, the first book I ever picked up by this author. This book is full of everything you could ever want. First off, who doesn’t love a good sports romance especially one that involves a basketball player & a sports journalist. Second, the characters in this book are written so perfectly that you can’t even hate someone even if you tried - unless it’s Greg Bradshaw...because if it’s him, there is literally no way to even like him if you tried. Told ya, strong characters. BUT. You not only get a glimpse at the main characters but also the side characters. Everyone is written so genuinely. I don’t know how else to describe it besides the word genuine. This book really makes you become one of the characters. When it’s in Abby’s POV, you’re experiencing everything she experiences. When it’s in Tristan’s POV, suddenly you’re now a basketball player trying to make it in the NBA despite being 5’0”. There’s something unique about being a reader and getting to transform yourself into what you’re reading. Getting to switch that reality. Write Me Off leads you into a world that is full of attractive, cocky (as they should be), & loving men who you wish existed in real life and strong, independent, and beautiful women who you wish you were or you could be friends with. I mean it when I say that this book is one of those books you find yourself always gravitating towards. Brandy’s USW creates a university that you enter & never want to leave.
It’s a gift and a curse when you read a book by Brandy Davis. A gift because you really cannot go wrong and her books will become one of your favorites and a curse because you’ll never stop comparing every other book to hers. #sportsromance #DUALPOV #USW #comfortbook
This book truly changed my perspective on reading! The story was written realistically from college students POV. The dual POV truly is the best thing about the book!! As a reader we get to see the thoughts of both Tristan and Abby without any repeats of scenarios. Brandy did an amazing job throughout this story! She truly makes her readers feel apart of the book. I’ve never followed an author before from Wattpad to publishing like her!! The hardships are very relatable. Both characters experience huge character development throughout their relationship. Abby is put in a position where she has to pick her career over her love life just because she is a woman working in a man’s world. Tristan is put in a position where focusing on basketball isn’t his only priority and the fears of being distracted will mess up his future. Honestly, there is no other book like this one!! This series is well written and makes you fall in love with each character in their own way. It definitely is worth reading!! #comfortbook congrats b!!
I loved this book so much!!! I don’t really remember how long ago I read this but it honestly stuck with me. It’s such a comfort book it has everything a good plot great main characters awesome side character and an amazing love story . This is one of those books that makes you feel so good after you’re done (even though there was some heartbreak along the way). I liked everything about everyone Abby is so sweet and smart and I love her character her struggles were so realistic and her relationship with her mother impacted her choices really clearly so it was so exciting seeing her start to understand what works for her and not what works for her mom. The way she chose to try and make things better was so sweet and such a hard Choice to make. I loved how the struggle that female reporters in the sport’s industry and in general are going through was shown and how dramatic every little misogynistic comment can be about a woman’s career. Abby and Tristan are literally the definition of soulmates I loved their relationship so much it was so healthy and developed in such a pretty way. Their friendship was great and I loved how they stayed friends in a way even after they got together. I feel like they really brought the best out of each other and they felt it to and I think they both felt like they were the best version of themselves when they are together. All of the friendships were also awesome and incredibly sweet and funny Abby Nia and Jenny really got each other’s back’s and Tristan and James are so important to each other in the deepest sweetest way. Everyone’s dynamic with Luke and Micah was awesome and their relationship with Abby and Tristan have a special place in my heart. they all felt like a big supportive family. 5/5!!!!!
I read this when it was first on wattpad (and no it’s not cliche a wattpad story like brandy knows wtf she is doing) and I haven’t stopped thinking about it since. I followed Brandy on Twitter and insta just to keep up to date with all the news about it being released and it’s finally time. Abby Ryan is an angel/bad bitch and Tristan is a daddy. Like I don’t know what I can possibly say to make you pick up this book but you NEED to. It gives off-campus vibes but honestly I think this tops off-campus like the attachment I have to these characters is unmatched. And not even just the leads. Josie and Micah, Liv and Luke, Grayson and Halle like their books aren’t even written/out yet and I’m already counting down the days till I can get my hands on them. St. Patty’s day, the O’Malley’s special, the library scene, and the swimming pool scene all chefs kiss🤌🏽😩. AND now there’s added scenes between Tristan and Abby that we haven’t even seen yet but come on we already know it’s gonna be good. It’s a sports romance like what more could you want. ALSO TRISTAN WEARS GLASSES I REPEAT TRISTAN WEARS GLASSES AND HE HAS CURLY BROWN HAIR AND IS GOOD WITH CHILDREN!!! I mean if your ovaries don’t explode with that idk what will. But yeah read this book it’s amazing and once you go finish dm me on insta: maddyrdz13 so we can fangirl over Tristan Beck together😌
This is without a doubt a 5/5 rating! From the very first word of this book, I knew I would be in for one HELL of a ride. Not only are the protagonists and side characters extremely likeable and well thought out, the plot in itself is driven to excellence with just how much tension it gives and humour. It is easy to be pulled into the USW series, and the author did a damn good job at that.
Our main girl, Abby Ryan, has automatically reached my top five list of favourite heroines. Her personality is witty, charismatic and just bright! It’s so easy to fall in love with her character and be pulled into her mind that you can see her story literally come to life. There are many scenes in this book where I think Abby showcases one of her most favourable traits, compassion. With the relationship with her mother, despite their ups and downs they can work it out and Abby still can find the love within her to move past hardships with many of the characters in Write Me Off.
Moving onto our starboy, Tristan Beck... God even his name makes my insides melt. There are not enough words in the dictionary to describe the attraction I have for this man, it is out of this goddamn world. One word from that man and I kid you not, I will get on my knees (excuse my vulgar ness, Tristan Beck brings out a wild side of me!) Despite his charming looks, the man within holds strong traits that are so incredibly unique. His love for Abby throughout Write Me Off is one of the most beautiful things about this book, if not THE most beautiful thing! From being strangers to lovers, they showcased how one dance can lead to a lifetime of memories, with more to be captured. As I have said, not enough words can be put into sentences about my love for Tristan Beck.
And of course, we got to give a cheers to the author, Brandy Davis. You, sweetheart, have created the most wholesome world full of life and laughter between every single one of these characters, proving to readers that friends are family. You as an author have done an incredibly job drawing the reader (including me) into your chaotic yet loving world, one I never want to escape from. Thanking you every day of my life still won’t be enough to cover the utmost gratitude I have for you for allowing me to dive into your world and love the characters you have blossomed. You deserve a huge applause for the world you created! Thank you, Brandy Davis, for giving me my escape.
I was blessed enough to receive an arc for WMO from Brandy (thank you once again Brandy I love you so much) so for the past 2 1/2 days I’ve read the book several times, ugly and happy cried over the book but most of all, felt so much joy getting to read this story again. Write me Off was one of the first stories that I ever read on Wattpad and it was the book that made me fall in love with sport romances. I’m confident to say that no matter how many books I’ve read, and no matter how many books I will ever read, Write me Off will most definitely remain my favourite book of all time. The characters are humorous, loving and at the point where you wouldn’t want to change anything about them. They’re all paired up perfectly and she sets them out in a way where they face their own challenges and develop and learn from their mistakes.
Brandy knows exactly how to pull the heartstrings of the reader and make them feel exactly what the characters are going through. Her style of writing never fails to amaze me, and I don’t understand how as an author, she described exactly how irrevocably and desperately in love Abby and Tristan were with each other. I feel as if the character friendships in the book made me long for friends just like them, because they were so supportive of almost every decision that each of them made. The pacing of the book was perfect and I personally felt as if it was different to other sports romances in the sense that it wasn’t cliche. So many times even before I got the arc, I would sit there wondering what the heck was going to happen, but I’m never disappointed or dissatisfied. Brandy builds so many layers of emotions and such suspense without it getting to the point where it’s too hard to read. She knows exactly where to pinpoint things, to get the reader to have the fullest experience and for it to flow smoothly. If you don’t know whether you want to read this book, then this is your sign to READ THIS BOOK.
Brandy, if you’re reading this, thank you for writing a book that made me feel so alive and also in love. It’s not everyday that I come across a book that makes me drunk off of it, but that’s how I feel when I think about and read WMO. I’m so proud of how far you’ve come and even though I’ve never met you since we live in different countries, I aspire to be like you, and you’ve influenced me so much by being so open, honest and vulnerable with your followers. I will forever be thankful for getting to read this book with early access and I can’t wait to order a paperback and have it sitting on my shelf. Congratulations once again on writing and publishing your first book! Lots of love! Xxx
Let's be clear about one thing. You NEED this book. I have read this book at least 10 times when it was available and I can't even imagine how much more amazing this book will be when it is published. Brandy Davis takes you on a rollercoaster ride throughout Abby's and Tristan's relationship. Yet, she makes it a relatable college romance. I know you may think "what are the chances I can date a NBA star- in the making?" but the emotions are relatable. I love the chemistry between the two and I can't wait to get more of them! I am definitely a sucker for sports romance and this is anything but a cliché. The VIBES are IMMACULATE!
Shout out to Brandy for developing these characters beyonds words in a story. She has created an interactive personality for each character and her fans are amazing at bringing these people to life. Brandy created playlists for Write Me Off (plus more books to come in the series... but shhhhh...) that fit with every chapter and scene. Imagine these scenes just like a movie scene but with T-Swift singing in the background. Ummmm yes please!! I GUARANTEE by the end of the book, Abby and Tristan will make you believe in true love (if you haven't already).
I could talk about this book forever but overall, I would give this book a 100 out of 5 stars. I am so proud of Brandy for self-publishing this book. Can't wait for the next one!
When I first read Write Me Off on Wattpad, it didn’t have a lot of reads - less than 100,000. I clearly remember reading chapter 9 and it was just like or better than Off-Campus Series. Which kinda of scared me because it was under 10 chapters, I knew it was only going to get better and it definitely did (hence chapter 10 😏). I literally still think of that chapter and I haven’t read it since you took it off.
We all had that one book that everyone is recommended and you just can’t get into it. Well, I feel so bad for the people who gave up on Write Me Off.
I can’t wait until have a shelf that’s dedicated to Brandy’s books included the fantasy series (and the non-existent zombie where Micah dies and Luke and preggers Josie get together).
Brandy, I have no words to say thank you for making this beautiful book and you will always be my favourite author!!!!
I started reading write me off on wattpad and was so sad to see it go:( brandy’s characters radiate so much comfort and write me off was a book that i fell in love with right off the bat. i find myself being able to relate to different things within each character, and my mind oftentimes wandering off to tristan beck (who can blame me?) therefore, i was so so excited about the thought of being able to see not just write me off, but the entire series on my bookshelf one day!! i’m so excited to finish reading tristan and abby’s story, and i can’t wait to read about the others as well. i’m so proud of brandy for all of the work she’s put into this series and getting it published, and i look forward to reading write me off very soon!!
100% worth the read!!! i love everything about this book- the characters, the development, the friendships, the storyline!!! brandy is so incredibly talent and i can’t wait to read the rest of the series to learn more about the characters and her writing style. this book got me out of my reading slump and introduced me to the world of sports romance however i’m yet to find one that lives up to the standards of write me off. the community that brandy has created is so warming and welcoming and truly makes you feel like your apart of a family you will fall in love with this book (and tristan beck himself)! can not wait to reread and experience the journey again!!!! 5/5*
I hadn’t read in a while. Years really and then on a whim downloaded Wattpad first thing I ever read on there was Write Me Off. The book made me fall in love with with reading. I fell in love with all the characters, the stories, and the world Brandy created. I cried and laughed and threw my phone (and cracked it). It just makes you so happy and it makes you desperately hopelessly in love with just about everybody and I’m so grateful to her because I’ve read a like 50 books this year so far and that’s because she made me love reading. I think everyone should read this book because it’s impact on me will last a lifetime and if that’s not a good enough then you’re really missing out. :)
This book is one of the best to come from Wattpad. I say one of the best as there are more to come from Brandy.
Write me off was a book which made all other books on Wattpad boring. The writing skill Brandy has is immense. She engages with her fans and loves letting us see more into them through inspirational pictures and future scenes!
I am aware of all the 1* reviews warning people of the mass of 5* reviews coming but they are 5* because this is a 5* book and Author.
WMO is an amazing book. The characters, story and topics are so meaningful and individual.
I have a feeling the 1* reviews have not read the books because I have a feeing if they didn’t enjoy it so much they would just stop reading.
I cannot wait for WMO to be released and bring on the future of the USW series.
Yeah no I’m not even gonna waist my time... After finding out everything about this author. I am extremely disappointed and upset.
I was really excited to read 2 of the books in this series and have been for well over a year. But now I’m just... well angry.
This is getting extremely exhausting. How many more authors are going to be shitty people? It’s honestly getting old. The number of authors I’ve stopped supporting the past 8-9 months is insane to be honest.
To think I was going to literally buy this book too? Glad I found all these reviews before waisting my money and any more of my time on Brandy.
Edit: If you wanna know more about it here is a link or just search “Brandy Davis Reddit” and here’s a link:
I read this book like a year ago and I still remember how much I loved this book. I was browsing wattpad hoping to find some fun college romances and I found this and I am so glad that I gave this book a try because now this is one of my favorites. I would definitely read this again and again. The characters were so funny, attractive and relatable. I fell in love with the whole plot, USW and the characters. Abby is my favorite girl after Josie and I truly enjoyed reading and wishing I was in her place. Why? Have you seen her boyfriend? Tristan is on whole another level of beauty. I found myself shipping Tristan and Abby every time they converse. This book deserves 5 stars!
Basically as a copy of the off campus series, this author has been racist and used readers like yourself to make more money and hurt more people. Brandy has used people to get 5 star ratings by giving them an ARC so do not be confused by the amount of good reviews, it’s all a scam so a racist and uncaring author can make more money off of you.
ok so i was looking forward to this book up until I heard everything about the author which turned me off, but for some reason I couldn't delete it from my kindle library, so I read it. like 85% of it excluding the scenes and pages I skimmed/skipped. it wasn't bad, but it wasn't revolutionary or new. i can understand where people were coming from when they said it was like the off-campus series by elle kennedy, although I could also distinguish them. but even then, the romance was cute, the side characters were great, but it was another college romance that was good/ok. i don't like what I know about the author which makes me feel slightly guilty for reading this but I did. and I sadly will admit I might/probably will end up reading the other ones when they come out bc I'm sucker for these books and i have no restraint with them as i do in other aspects of life when it comes to stuff like this. and the synopsis of the next book sounds like some of my fav tropes so fuck. romance was cute, albeit not exactly the most spicy although the spice was there, it wasn't anything new or really i guess the only word i can find is groundbreaking for lack of better thinking at 11;30pm on shitty sleep and long days at work. I'm probably knocking points off because of who the author is but overall it was just good/ok, and bc the next book has some of my fav tropes it seems and the sneak peek in the back did interest me a lot, i will probably read it and hope its better and try to use my one separating the artist from their art on this book series.
Hardly ever review books but am an avid reader (400+books a year)
Highly Recommend
This is one of my top books I’ve read.. was genuinely surprised by how much I enjoyed the characters/plot of the book. Yes it is a sports romance but I believe it has a great twist to it compared to other sport romances I’ve read. Actual reasonable real life issues compared to books with the characters usually causing their own problems. Perfect mix of character development/dialogue/smut scenes. This piece is very original in its genre.
Looking forward to reading the rest of the series. Believe this author will have more greats to come.
Did not receive an arc or leave a review for any other reason than this being a great book. 🔥🖤
I read this story way back when it was on wattpad and I specifically remember going into the bathroom at work as soon as a new chapter was posted just so I could have some piece and quiet to read it. I was 17 at the time and I cannot stress enough how important it was for me to see a healthy AND passionate romance. So so good! I was worried I wasn’t going to like it because I’m not very interested in sports related stories but Brandy does a really god job of explaining and keeping you entertained. I loved this book -and being along for her journey with publishing- and I’m excited to read all of Brandy’s future works!
write me off was of the first books i read on wattpad. let me tell you it did not disappoint, reading that book felt like everything was right in your day! that book made me felt emotions i hve never felt before, i know cliche but. it really did, it made me cry with abby and it made me laugh when the girls had funny convos. this book was one of the books i stayed up reading til the sun rose and balling my eyes out reading! so if your looking for a book that has a take on sports, romance and one that plays with your emotion i highly recommend this book!
Godddddd this book got in my nerves to the last level!! The characters were mediocre and so was the entire story. Long boring and drawn out. I couldn’t connect with abby and occasionally she seemed like a bitch. Her thoughts made me wanna mill myself really. Tristan was so basic I didn’t understand why the author hyped him up so much?? He is just a basic white boy with curly hair who happened to have douchebag tendencies. And so were his friends. The only good thing about this book was abby’s friend nia and that’s it. How are you gonna let a side character with like 30 lines steal the show? Embarrassing. Don’t read this and definitely don’t buy this, use an epub it will save the money and time.
It’s been a long time since I was able to read this, but Abby and Tristan still have my heart and I cannot wait to read their story again.
Brandy has done such an amazing job at writing this book, writing their story, in a way that wants me to have my own snowy parking lot kisses and locker room love confessions.
I loved- love- this book with all my heart and I can’t wait to see what Brandy added to their story. There is not really an ‘I liked…’ part because I love this whole book and I cannot wait until I have it on my bookshelf and my kindle!
