3.5 ⭐️ Since their one-night stand, I was looking forward to Midas and Neveah getting back together. Despite her initial reluctance, Neveah was prepared for everything that came with Midas. Though I liked reading about their relationship, Midas's secrecy and effort to shield her from his secret life drove me crazy. It would have been so much simpler if he had just told Neveah the truth. I really liked the unexpected turn Neveah took; she was more complex than we first thought. I only wish we got more Mr. and Mrs. Smith scenes. Like the Montez incident and the wedding, I think there were several aspects that may have been handled better.
Sometimes less is more and I really feel this elaborate plot wasn't needed for this story. These two had such a beautiful connection and honestly it was cheapened with all the back and forth.
Midas was a boss of bosses. I thoroughly enjoyed his BDE in the first book, but his indecisiveness and unwarranted fear in this one made me lose my fondness of him. That sexy air and energy was so inconsistent and that's one thing I don't care for in an MC.
Heaven was such a boss b#$ch. Her layers kept me interested in this story. I didn't like how he played in her face after she finally accepted they were meant to be. I really enjoyed her character, she was soft with her man, commanding in the boardroom, loving and protective of her family and I feel like she deserved a better love story 🤷🏾♀️.
I wish they would have had more moments of them together. Instead of saying "things had been good." With all the words in this book, I think they could have been used differently to really enhance their love. Instead it was dragged on by this elaborate plot and it just didn't feel necessary. I also wanted a better epilogue.
Not bad, but it just missed the mark for me. Also editing was needed badly.
I have looked forward to the full story for these two since their one night stand. Midas was NOT ready for the full Neveah, she on the other hand was totally ready and could handle all that he was bringing to the table once he was totally open with her about the full Midas. These two had such a deep connection both sexually and in life style. It was great seeing snippets of the rest of the clan. I loved Pat Warren. I hope to see much more from these two.
This is a mid book review… you know a book has to be worthy for a mid book review!!! Midas baby just take me now, I feel like Halle Berry in Monsters Ball ( I want you to make me feel good) lol… I’m don’t, I just CANNOT. GET THIS BOOK. Carry on….
Loved Midas and Neveah! They were meant to be. Also great to revisit their family. Can’t wait to see who’s story is next! Hopefully Dom or Omega (fingers crossed)
Midas was magical. Whew, chile. My only complaint is about the constant reminder that Midas was a billionaire. That got old after the fourth or fifth time. Overall, the story was extra dope.
Okay so I went into this story loving Midas and I still do love him but Nevaeh? I would lay down my life for this woman. And she wouldn't even need me to because she doesn't hesitate to bust her guns.
Midas was so damn simple. Why didn't he just tell Nevaeh the truth? Why did Coffee Bean have to interpret her secret message for him? Get it together sir! Lol

I could not finish this book. I expect to find some level of misogyny and tropes within romance books but there was a lot with this one. The way the hero referred and spoke about the other women he was sleeping with was dehumanising and turned me off.
The sex scenes were badly written and crude without being sexy. There’s nothing wrong with being explicit but my god there was no tact whatsoever.
This book mad me so mad the whole time I was reading it.. Midas had time after time to tell Heaven the truth and just choose not too.. It just feels like the book dragged on and on for no reason.. Also it was way too long
IYKYK…(read the book and you’ll find out why I picked this review title. )
Neveah was hooked and strung out on a once in a lifetime man with the golden tool - I mean touch. He not only touched her body, but also her mind and her soul. But she let him go.
Midas got caught up in her quicksand but he’s got one foot out, when he really just wants to let go and fall right in it. He needs her in his life, but it’s his secret life and all that it entails that’s keeping him away. She is his one, but he let her go.
“love is the inevitable path between the two of us and I hope that when we met again, you will be open to exploring this thing that lies between us.”
Because neither of them will seek the other despite aching and longing for each other, Fate steps in. Giving them another chance to be on the same path after their once in a lifetime, soul stirring, sexually explosive night. It was an unforgettable experience that has haunted them since they parted from one another.
This was written very well. The build up, the misses, the angst, the frustration and the relief I felt while reading made me so engrossed in the story. It grabbed me and I felt like I was apart of their journey and friends who were rooting for them. I also enjoyed all of the sub characters from the other books being apart of this story. Mrs Pat was fabulous!
These two are so meant to be but fear, circumstances, emotions, people and events get in the way. They get in their own way too. But fate had a plan for them and it was beautiful.
Disclaimer: If you have not read the Orphan or Desparado books 1-2, you should read them to understand who is who as the secondary characters in the story were previously main characters.
After seeing the family his brothers have built, Midas secretly wants the same but doesn’t think its in his future. Midas find his one in an unconventional way that only he can create. He finds his lady he calls Heaven, known as Neveah, a woman equal to him in intelligence, business savvy and insecurity in that they both had the desire to be seen for themselves and not for what they have or can do. They both kept each other at a distance while enjoying some pretty good physical chemistry. The story has plenty of comedy which is expected given that four of this band of brothers are committed and Midas has yet to find his mate. We get more details into his world and how he operates and we get new characters, international characters, that will add lots of dimension to this world that has been created. We also find that Midas and Dom are doing something secretly that runs in parallel with the law seeking justice. I was looking forward to Midas’ story and it was well worth the wait… And it is also a good set up for what’s the come. I now know my spidey senses have not failed me. Gird your loins, we have a potential Mr. and Mrs. Smith, black edition on our hands. I love both Midas and Nev separately, but also as a couple. I hope to see both in action sooner, than later. Editing issues, although numerous, did not take much away from the story.
Ummmm… I loved the in the midst series by this author so I thought I would read more from her catalog & unfortunately this one wasn’t as good as the two books in the in the midst series.
I hardly ever read novellas that are apart of a series that act as an introduction to the actual book but definitely read the novella prior to reading this. It helps you get an insight on the dynamic & love connection between the two characters.
I think the downfall of this book for me was the many holes & unfinished business that were left once the book was completed. I also feel like the connection between the two characters were forever changing. One minute they were good or fake being good & the next they were bad but things never really got resolved but some kinda way they would end up good again it was confusing & taxing.
Another thing I didn’t like was the way that the characters demeanor/personality, etc. we’re different in this book compared to how they were in the novella. In the novella you would’ve thought they were soulmates & in the beginning of this book the characters portrayed that they were truly obsessed with each other but once’s they linked back up both characters started making lame excuses about why they couldn’t be together like if that’s the case why tf did you spend a year dreaming, obsessing, longing for this person?!
I honestly think Midas’s mom & Naveah’s strong personality is why I liked the book soo much. Like there was a part in the book where Neveah gave bad b.tch energy & it was soo good.
I read the prequel and thought I would love to know more about Adonis and Heaven ,and this book was an awesome follow up. Watching the progression of their story had me feeling warm and fuzzy. I mean there were times In wanted to hit Midas for hiding his true feelings, and hurting Naveah however he pulled himself together so that is all that matters. Naveah was truly a great woman and she shocked the heck out of me with abilities. Adanna and Naveh together my God I will clear my entire schedule for that book. Adam and Omega I loved them, and would definitely like to read their backstory. I love Dandridge Monroe's way of telling a story she always leaves me laughing out loud and abreast on topics around the world. I haven't read a book her that hasn't left me throughout entertained, and wanting more. Great job I can't wait to see how part two plays out.
I'm on the fence about this book. I will love it on some pages and shut the book on other pages. I think Midas and Nevaeh's chemistry was better before they "caught feelings." I'm still trying to wrap my head around that whole marriage thing. I really wanted to like Midas, but why are you sleeping with these women if they disgust you so much?? The book dragged on, and it would have thrived without some of the contents. Also, the African references made me cringe on some occasions. Bottom line, I wanted to love this book since the first one promised a good story, but it didn't quite hit the spot.
Boy this series here. Midas was getting on my nerves at some point in the book. He just couldn’t catch a clue. It took his friends to make him think. I’m glad he listened.
Heaven was nothing to play with. She was definitely Midas’ match. When she pulled out the locked box, I said, “She must know Jada.”😂😂😂. I love seeing a woman handle her business.
Now who would have though you would fall in love after one magical night but baby this story got me wishing. I am so glad Midas got his Heaven cause at one point I was worried. So far this series is filled with steamy romance and men who are not afraid to show their woman they love them
This was a good read It was very sensual and empowering.Thank God I didn't let some reviews affect my judgement. I've also decided to focus on a book's star rating rather than an actual review cos I'm easily affected by what people say about a book. I'd rather discover the quality of the writing myself. I took off 0.25 stars for the grammatical errors. On to the next in her catalog!!!
From a one night experience to a couple of forevers
From a one night experience to a couple of forevers. Midas and Neveah are reunited by fate but of course they are battled tested along the way. Their chemistry is top tier and their connection is not to be severed. Nev show that she's a lady but she's a savage too. She knows how to handle herself and keep those she loves safe.
Whew, stuff started happening outta no where. Well, they were really important people so I understand, but you get what I mean lol. Anywho, coming back from UCA convention, shook me. Like, that was my plot twist moment because, girla!!! Pop yo ishhh. I hope in the next book we find out who Adanna and Zanvion are/were.
I was so glad to get the story behind Midas and Heaven 😊 it was so good and I loved the fact that she was just as paid as him there chemistry was explosive 🔥 I hope the next Negus story is about Dom!! Don't make us wait to long Ms. Monroe😊
I wanted to know what the happen the letter that Nevaeh wrote Midas. The whole story moved beautifully but it seemed as if the ending was a little rushed. Still a great book about fate abs true love. I would love an update on their story.
Man, Midas and Nevaeh all day!!! Talk about match my energy! These two were made for each other. I loved reading their story and finally learning about them. I’ve bounced around the different series and this didn’t disappoint!!!
Midas and Neveah whew they stressed me out but I’m so glad how it came together at the end I know Pat is happy as ever lol. She definitely got her wish!
Never is a baddie and she got Midas together quick...there love didn't come without complications but the love they had for each other couldn't be missed
