Takové rodinné shledání si bratři Elricovi rozhodně nepředstavovali. Ed a Al ovšem nejsou jediní, koho nečekané odhalení zastihlo nepřipravené. Také Lin se ocitá tváří v tvář pokušení, kterému nelze odolat. Převládne přátelství... či touha po nesmrtelnosti?

I’m called many names: "Human weapon, monster…" but it’s only when I’m fighting a real monster…that I feel truly human. "
Menudo viaje me espera. No haré mas que disfrutarlo eso seguro.
"You pitiful lower life forms. You get a tiny taste of power and you think you control the world, while in truth, you have no concept of the forces you’re playing with. You even have the audicity to believe that you are in control of that power harnessing it for your owns ends. WHAT A LAUGH !! Never understimate the fooliness of humanity!!!"
OH man so many things are happening in this series but then I get really confused because it feels like it is building to a conclusion but I am only halfway through. Is this like the midseason finale or something? Because if it is then HOT DAMN it was a good one!
This was a great one as they come face to face with their father look alike and fight him and then discover his secret and the fact that he is the big bad and was involved in the civil war and other terrible thigs and that his power levels are way above them, the opening is like a splash of awesomeness. But then we slow it down the fights happen, positions accepted and they realize they need to persist and work under them and each character from Ed to Roy to others even Scar have their own journeys ahead.
There are some great things for Ling and what happens to him, and then Lanfan and her journey ahead will be interesting. Politics is building up, mysteries gallore in the background and so many things are in place and how is Ed at the center of all this? And hints of things to come. Great story volume and it just shows why this manga is just next level. The art and backgrounds are freaking insane! Hiromi-sensei really taking the book to next level!
Not quite sure how much higher the stakes can go in this series to be honest. I mean, I don't think I think that things will be all good for Edward and Al, but there is always a new twist with each volume that has me itching to read the next volume ASAP!
Though funny enough, in my last review I felt all clever saying I knew who the ultimate villain was only to have that thrown back in my face with a big WRONG all over my face. LOL! I'm not sure WHO the ultimate villain is even if we have seen him and "know" who he is.
AND OH MY GOODNESS GREED! :O :O :O That wholeeeee scene had me squeezing my manga volume because WHAT?!
And then seeing two characters meet, but before that seeing two characters "team up" and making it everything, but also a lot of conflicted everything because everyone could die but not really since Edward and Al HAVE to be kept alive but the ultimate villain.
Truly, this volume left me on the edge of my seat in how the truth is out about a variety of people, but nothing can be done yet. (Though what was that last page?!?)
As we hit the halfway point in the series, we sort of get a status quo reset as the villainous cabal seems to have all the leverage and a timetable that says y'all just go sit down over there and wait. The creator keeps trying to make Scar and Lin Yao happen, but they just don't work for me, especially since the book overflows with so many more interesting characters (24 in this particular case, to be precise -- and yes, I'm counting Black Hayate).
This is were the series take a turn and the 'villians' become allies as we find out who the real villains are.
The only negative I have about this series is that, even though Father is the main villain, the homunculi and other 'villain' characters are all so much more compelling. His backstory is interesting and he's obviously an extreme threat but I don't find him particularly terrifying. Envy is more so. Gluttony as well tbh. And pride (though he's not appeared yet) is so much more terrifying than father.
Also, for anyone who thinks book to screen adaptations should be a word for word replica and have complete accuracy to source material, read this and watch Fullmetal Alchemist:Brotherhood (not the 2003 version). The anime is basically word for word perfect so far. I'm not someone who thinks adaptions have to be 100% the same but I'm also someone who thinks why change perfection. This series is perfect and doesn't need changing so the anime is equally(if not more because of the incredible voice acting and visuals) perfect.
Volume 14 sure has some endgame stuff that I didn't expect to see this early. The plot moves and the changes like crazy! Be patient in reading this chapter because you might miss a thing or two.
So, It wasn't Hohenheim. Then who was? Maybe his father, because Hohenheim is homunculus too, maybe when the old man created them, he made his son a one too. Or it's his older brother. Why, Envy? He helps first, then become evil again. My opinion about her changes every volume). Why King Bradley seems so relaxed and comfortable? He is acting weird as if the things happened was the least, there is going to be worse. There is still much more to discover. Why alchemy was blocked during fight time when Scar and the little girl could do alchemy. I wonder where is true Ling. I actually think there is no Greed, it is actually Ling, but he is hiding. He will betray homunculi, I think. That's my guess.

Elric brothers question the "Father" of Homunculus about his real identity and also his relation with their father. It seems the mystery shrouding around him won't be cleared so easily, but he seems to be the most powerful being so far the brothers have encountered. The Homunculus are playing hostage game with every human sacrifice candidates to keep them in line. Ling sacrifices his body to gain immortality and strikes a deal with Greed. Ran Fan and May Chang instantly develops a rival relationship after they meet at Dr. Knox's house. The scar that was left on all those who participated in the Isvhal civil war is explored in detail. Dr. Marco asks for redemption from Scar after they meet at his confinement cell. And we are left with more unanswered questions when the mysterious tattoo at Lt. Hawkeye's back.
Halfway there! Apart from rather a big development at the beginning, here's another bit of downtime and rest in between hellish bowel adventures and intense war flashbacks.
We've more or less reached the point where the heroes know what's going on and what they need to do, but are as of now incapable of fighting back. They've been to the Belly of the Whale, and the path onward has been rendered clear for them. Now, onward.
