The Empty Coffins
As the nineteenth century winds down, and the Wild West comes to an end with it, many new issues begin to emerge. The influx of humanity forced Westerners to change the way they lived their lives, and how lawmen enforced the law. And not in a small way, because with the arrival of all those “civilized” people also came a new brand of criminal. This book exemplifies the transition the men behind the star faced as they moved forward toward a new century.
Matt is finally released to return to activity by Dr. Killebrew—as long as he takes it easy. But before he can even think about convalescence, Matt and his entire family face a veiled threat of death unless he resigns as sheriff. After mulling things over, Matt decides to do the only thing he knows—find the head of the snake and cut it off.
Joined by Judge Robert Mason, Chief Deputy Lalo Cantu, and all three of their wives, they follow the only clues they have and head for Austin. Once there, their investigation takes them through a web of corruption involving all levels of the populace—from the bordellos in “Guy Town” to the halls of the Texas state capitol. As they close in on those wanting Matt out of the way, assisted by a small group of concerned locals, Matt adopts new techniques, new procedures, even new armament. Will crooked political influence and power end Matt’s career, or his life? Or will law and order prevail?

Matt Kincaid, his wife, a Judge and his wife, work together with the residents of a Texas town to end the ongoing corruption that has the entire town in turmoil! This is a fast moving rendition of unending old western frontier folklore justice that grabs your undivided attention immediately and never slows down from beginning to end!
Most definitely five stars worthy as the Author leaves no stone unturned in his descriptive renditions of how I often perceived our old American West was finally tamed! There are some suspenseful moments that successfully maintains anyone's undivided attention from cover to cover! The ongoing hardships only intensifies with each new encounter of the bad guys devilment, which will definitely keep your undivided attention immediately and never lets go until the final paragraph has been read!
Once again Mr. Parks outstanding descriptive storylines successfully maintains your full attention from the very beginning until the final paragraph has been absorbed! No slow downs in this compassionately motivated story of unending exciting adventures! Too, the Author's outstanding character selections were unsurpassed, as each individual's assigned roles was perfectly selected for their commanding proposals from the very first chapter, until the final paragraph has been absorbed! Hated to see Matt hang up his star, though!
Definitely recommend this compassionately entertaining revelation of realistically renditions of realistic old American western folklore adventures to everyone, but especially to you western folklore addicted fanatics! You non-western enthusiasts will certainly find yourselves completely mesmerized by the exploits of these dedicated group of law enforcement personnel, as well as those who join the officials in their quest for law enforcement at it's very best! Great job by one of the most compelling Author's in the western frontier folklore writing adventures!!!😃
