Desperado was written by USA Today Bestselling Author Reana Malori...Clint –My son and I are doing just fine, thank you very much. Even though he sometimes cries out for his mother in the middle of the night, he knows I love him more than life itself. I can never replace his mother, but I’m doing the best I can with what I have. Me, on the other hand, I’m as right as rain. I don’t need another woman entering my life, only to rip my heart out when she leaves. I’m used to being alone at night, but I never allow myself to feel lonely. But when SHE showed up, needing my help, and running from a dangerous ex, I had no other choice but to protect her. I think I may regret that decision.Tamara –I can’t believe I have to run for my life to a new city. Well, maybe not quite a city. Living in the country on a farm, with horses, and mucking hay was not my idea of a life well-lived. After everything I’ve gone through, I just needed a safe space. Somewhere I could get a good night’s rest. A comfortable place where I didn’t have to look over my shoulder. Clint was a friend of a friend. Someone I could trust to keep me safe until my ex-husband finally got the message. Falling for my handsome protector should be the last thing on my mind, but why can’t I stop dreaming about him… naked… in my bed.*Contemporary Romance BWWM Interracial Single Dad Novella HEA*
The characters I write will not be perfect. None of us are. They will make mistakes. All of the hero's will have redeeming qualities, but on the outset, you may not be their biggest fan. My heroine's will be the kind of women you want to hang out with. They're the women next door, down the street and around the corner. They are the ladies you would want to spend time with on a Saturday night drinking a martini.
I have been an avid reader of romance novels since the age of 14 and know what appeals to me as reader. My goal is, and will always be, to provide that same experience for the women and men who read my novellas and short stories.
I’m a former Marine and served for 8 years, so strong military men will always be a favorite topic of mine. I will continue to write stories with military heroes’ front and center. I’m also a fan of Alpha-males and strong women who love with everything they have.
This big bad former Marine was just fine with life. He was content with raising his son alone after the death of his wife. Her death totally destroyed him and it took him some time to get back to life. He did not need a woman in his life to make him happy, until the first time he laid eyes on Tamara Wright’s photo. He knew he was in trouble the day she stepped on his ranch. Tamara needed his protection from her crazy ex and he had a hard time controlling himself. Not only had Clinton Sullivan fallen in love with Tamara so had his eight-year-old son Sammy. He wanted Tamara as his new mother and did not hesitate to let any wayward women know. He was so cute. He really tickled me in the grocery store.
Tamara was in a conundrum. She knew she was only there for a month for Clint’s protection. She was falling for not only Clint and Sammy but Gladys and Butch. They were the family she always wanted. She desperately wanted to stay but did not know if she could. She’d just make good use of her time with Clint and Sammy. Both Clint and Tamara were surprised at how quickly their relationship happened.
Reana wrote a wonderful story that I hope she continues with a sequel. I would love to know what happens with Gladys and Butch. They tickled me how they would snark at each other knowing dang good and well they had the hots for each other. Old people need love too! I really loved Clint and Tamara as a couple. I loved how Tamara fit in very well with Clint’s family at the ranch and she related to Gladys and got Clint to see things that were right under his nose.
NOTE: I wish the author would have made a note that this story was included in the multi-author anthology "Country Temptations." I did not mind buying the book and re-reading it anyway. It was a good story that I thoroughly enjoyed.
~~DNF~~I was ready to sink my teeth into this book because it is one of my favorite tropes--woman gets help to escape an abusive ex-husband who is powerful and has a long reach. However, when I came to the 20% mark, I could go no further. The book is rife with countless editing issues. If there are that many at the beginning .... DNF
I liked how Clint and Tamara’s relationship developed into romance. Though he’d been attracted to Tamara since he first saw her photo, Clint keeps her at arm’s length, sparking much tension, confusion, will-they won’t-they moments, until eventually, their feelings could no longer be ignored. And so ensue a steamy yet endearing romance. Page after wonderful page, I fell more in love with Tamara and Clint as well as the side characters - especially the adorable Sammy, Clint’s son! I loved how caring Tamara was towards him and careful not to overstep.
Desperado was a pleasant read and the story was told really well. It’s the first story I’ve read by this author and I will definitely be reading more of her works.
This book was sweet, funny and a great read. CLINT & TAMARA were just met to be and met at a time when they both needed each other. Yes CLINT was reluctant which is understandable for a widower, the chemistry was undeniable. TAMARA needed healing and to see that not all men were like that POS ex-husband. She deserved love, she deserved to experience the kind of love that makes you feel all good and tingly whenever you thought about your man.
I also loved Sammy, Brandon, Gladys and Butch, but that little Sammy is too much. Would love to know if Brandon will get a story as well as Steven.
This was a good read. PSST…Butch and Gladys deserve a novella. 🤫
Another great book by Ms Malori! Loved it. At first I thought Clint was being hypocritical when he asked this dead wife, Janet, about Tamara because he didn’t seem to ask Janet about the other multiple women from town that he would go to…often. I loved Tamara’s character, she was loving, kind and caring. The funniest part of the book was Gladys, the housekeeper and Butch, Clint’s dad. I can’t leave out Sammy, Clint and Janet’s son; the negotiator and future manipulator and strategist! I highly recommend this book!
I enjoyed laughing at the characters and their shenanigans. I'm glad that Clint and Tamara trusted their hearts. Sammy is a trip, and I enjoyed every minute of him. Both Clint and Tamara are blessed to have Sammy and each other. Loved Clint and Tamara's story. Plus, I'm a sucker for country boys *wink*
I'm glad that this book was written before "Compulsion". I was about to get upset about Steven not having a happy ending.
Also, I want know to know what happens with Butch and Gladys. They are a hoot lol
Tamara is running to escape her crazed ex-husband (who won’t accept that she is done) with the help of the Lady Guardians. She runs right into the arms of billionaire rancher Clint. Despite their rocky start, Clint being a man, the chemistry the couple had shines through. Throw in a good storyline and you have a winner. My favorites by far are Gladys and Bobby. These two are a pair I would love to get a story for. Brandon added that kid cuteness that was needed.
Clint and Tamara had fun getting to know each other, and Sammy was a big help in playing match-maker for his dad because he fell in love with Tamara. I love the relationship that developed between Sammy and Tamara, she developed that relationship based sorely on her need for Sammy to know that she truly cared for him aside from his dad. Sammy truly welcome and appreciate Tamara, and wanted her to stay with them, and he let his Dad know about it.
Such a great book!! Tamera needed an escape from her ex, and found refuge with Clint, his son and family. There she found so much more. No spoilers! You'll have to read the book. Reana Malori never disappoints. If you love a strong cowboy who goes after what he wants and good old fashioned courting with some family drama on the side, then you'll love this book. Guaranteed HEA with a awesome epilogue. A total must read. 😊
This was a fantastic read. Clint and Tamara were a great couple, but include Sammy and this story becomes better. It was especially good to see the references to the Lady Guardians. Additionally, including Clint’s father and the woman that helped raise him made this a family story.
Clint and Tamara are so stinking cute together. I so adore books where there is that spark during the first meeting. Tamara travels to Clint's ranch to escape an ex that won't go away. This book is so hot and sexy. It has an excellent plot, great character interaction and it flows from page to page. I highly recommend this read being added to your collection!
Ok this was a cute 😍 short read 📚, but honey 🍯 it hit the spot 😋. I don't know if I have read any other books by this author but best belive I'm about to start. IDK what to 📚 read next 😕 but let's just say I'm looking hard and most definitely will be reading more from this author.
Thank you Ms. Malori for this book. I would say they fell in love fast, but who am I to judge? I am just happy she found her happily ever after. Clint was kind of crass and uncouth for a rich guy, but it worked in the book. The ending was really nice. All the uninteresting books I have read lately, this makes up for it.
This is my more like a novella wrapped up in a nice cut to the chase type read. I love that the focus did not deviated too much on other characters; however, the connection Clint and Tamera has felt more sexual then anything else. Still it held my attention and I love Sammy 🥰 I'm looking forward to see where things go with Gladys and Butch.
I really enjoyed this book! Love the story line just wanted a little more drama! Not a whole lot of background on what happened with Tamara and her ex-husband. Would have loved a little more story line about Butch and Gladys you gave a taste then left us hanging. Loved the chemistry between Clint and Tamara it was very intense and smoking 🔥! Loved Sammy !
I liked this story, there was no drama involved. Clint and Tamara shared mutual admiration for each other. Clint's son Samy also loved Tamara and defended her when another woman tried to poach in on Clint.
Tamara was at Clint's ranch as a refuge from an abusive ex.
Desperado was interesting only because, I love the romance novels, when either the mmc or fmc has a cute kid. The book was written well, BUT it was kinda slow. It needed a little action to perk up the storyline. But she is definitely a good writer. she just needs a little more of something to take away the boring parts.
I read this book in a box set before. I thought it would be different, but it wasn't. I still enjoyed Clint and Tamara story, I hope she will write Butch and Gladys story. Would Recommend
A very sweet read, short and to the point. Grab a glass of wine and let Tamara and Clint take you to their journey... I was hoping to get a double story ...some kind of HEA for Butch and Gladys.
I loved this book. Sammy and Clint’s relationship was absolutely adorable. Clint and Tamera were perfect for each other. Everyone needs a friend like Ebony. Gladys was my favorite hopefully she gets her HEA as well. I definitely recommend this book.
This story was a pleasure to read! It was witty with great dry humour. I also would have loved to hear more about Gladys and Bobby. I'd love to read more like this. I thoroughly recommend it 👌🏾
Very touching story of renewal on both parties. I love the acceptance of each character. I laughed out loud at some points in the story. Always good to revisit other characters from previous stories.
This was a quickie read. It did leave several questions though. The real question is will they be answered in another episode read or will they have their own story?
I was introduced to Ms. Malori through the Lunchtime Chronicles. I love her writing style. I jumped on this story. I'm not a fan of instant romance. However, there are often exceptions. Desperado was one. I wanted there to be more conflict. I wanted to villain to make an appearance on the ranch, but he was taken care of in other ways.
If domestic violence is a trigger for you, then I would not suggest this story to you. Tamara is a survivor.
Clint is a cowboy, former military man, and sounds sexy as sin. He is also a single father. Tamara is trying to save herself. They find it each and there is an instant attraction. The romance plays out over months which makes it better. Its a good easy read.
