Another eBook added to my stash in order to help pass the time while I recover. I don't want to rip this to shreds, so I will stick to a few points. The first thing that stuck out was a trained police officer not knowing about the breathing technique used by darts players, which would be the same line of thought as what is used by those firing a weapon. The main character was really lacking in common sense, which again is rather unbelievable when one considers they are a police officer. I honestly had no investment in the characters and could have cared less if they caught the killer. Almost DNF'd this twice but I had nothing else to do but lay in bed and rest so I soldiered on.

Second book in the series and our intelligent, young, good-looking, talented PC Jemima Cotton is once more involved in a murder case. A man is murdered when he answers his door and someone out in the dark throws a dart into his chest.
Luckily Jemima played in a darts team when working in London and is very good, who’da thought 😏
She tries to go undercover as a prospective member of the darts team that the murdered man helped set up and was chairman of, but one of her colleagues, also a member gives her away, still she makes the team.
There follows a lot of police procedural and false clues.
I like how well the police get on and work together, only her sergeant is not in her fan club.
Jemima works out who was behind the murder, and the culprit tries to ensure she tells no one.
I like the characters even if Jemima seems to be a little too good to be true and though this story wasn’t too taxing I’ll give the next book a try.

The second instalment in the Neighbourhood Watch Mystery series, this is a charming and absorbing whodunnit. Full of witty humour, it features a strong-willed heroine in PC Jemima Cotton and and a colourful cast of locals. The description of village life is spot on and the rural setting to die for… quite literally! Very well written and kept me guessing to the end. I really hope there are more books in the series to come. Highly recommended.
