Concho Ten-Wolves left the army to join the Texas Rangers. He lives on the Kickapoo reservation just outside Eagle Pass, Texas, on the Rio Grande Border between Mexico and the USA. His mother was a full-blooded member of the tribe; his father was black…both of them disappeared soon after his birth.
Concho does his job and takes his hits. He’s made plenty of enemies who want him dead and now even his past is coming back to taunt him. A knock on his door late one night sets a chain of mysterious events in motion. He uncovers two skeletons on the reservation, a woman and child – murdered.
It doesn’t matter that his enemies are coming for him, or that he doesn’t know who they are or how they’ll strike. The innocent dead deserve justice, and he’ll see they get it.
This Concho story clears up some questions from the first two books. A good twist at the end and native American myth, add a nice element. Hope this is not the last of these characters.
AW Hart – Concho Series Bk 3 – Path of Evil – Reviewed 8/3/21 – Read 7/26-27/21
Doing his job for the innocent, even when they are dead, is all that matters to Concho Ten-Wolves.
Returning from the military, joining the Texas Rangers, and living on the Kickapoo reservation just outside of Eagle Pass, Texas, Concho Ten-Wolves just wants to do his job protecting the innocent. While tracking the animal he thought he killed the previous night, Concho happens on a shallow grave. When he dug a little deeper, he found two skeletons, one adult size and one the size of a baby. While not finding the animal or any other signs, Concho packed up the skeletons and took them to the coroner to hopefully identify them.
When he is unable to reach his friend, Meskwaa, he heads to his house. As he pulls up, he spots that someone was there. Entering the house, he sees a figure that is going out the backdoor, but when Concho exits, someone fires a shot at him. Mighty strange things are happening around him at every turn. A few nights later he pulls up to his house and it looks like Meskwaa is sitting in the chair near the firepit, but before he could get there the body explodes, revealing that it was only Meskwaa’s clothes and a pumpkin head. He realizes that someone is definitely trying hard to kill him, but that is not going to stop him from this case, even the dead deserve justice.
Join Concho as he fights to do his job in protecting the innocent, including assassin attacks, and discovering all the strange things happening to him…
What did I like? We are on book three now and the action just does not stop. Every time Concho turns around someone is out to kill him. This also is the third series that I have read by this author, and I love that it is a culmination of several authors collaborating to produce the most impressive work. Each author plays off the previous and it sure works, giving the readers some explosive books to enjoy.
What will you like? Action, gunfights, assassins, weird beings, dead bodies, kidnapping, and so much more. The lead character of Concho Ten-Wolves is so interesting with a background that is amazing, losing his parents, his heritage, and his stubbornness makes him one heck of a character. He has had it rough in his life, but he does not let that stop him from doing what he feels is right. It’s too bad that there are not more of him around these days, looking out for all of us.
This is the best of the three. But To really enjoy it the first two must be read first. This one will send chills down your back and have you looking at the night with wide open eyes. Hoping you don't see what you just read about. If you do? Well, just keep reading and wait for the next chill. It's coming!
I chose Four Stars because the story was great! All three of your books about Ten-Wolves were fantastic! Thank you and I will be reading your other stories!

Super book filled with a myth you want to believe in.
Concho has the ability to bring out the worst in his fellow humans but also he has the ability to see the inner light in the good people he interacts with.
