Forgetting You

Rate this book
When Mckenzie Crawford learns that Ryan Bennet is coming home for the summer she does what any logical girl with a broken heart would do. She relocates as far away as possible. There is no way that she is going to be in the same town as his crooked smile and deep brown eyes. Nope, not going to happen.

Some things aren’t meant to last forever. In McKenzie’s case, some things aren’t even meant to begin, and it would be nice if her traitorous heart could get that memo. She needs a fresh start. She needs a chance for her conflicted heart to move on. She needs a Ryan free environment, to be surrounded by a new town and new people, and she is convinced that running from her problems is the best solution. Especially when that solution leads her straight to a hunky summer roommate that seems to be the answer to all her problems.

What McKenzie really needs is an antidote, and a strong one at that, to leave it all behind and forget ever meeting Ryan Bennet. Out of sight out of mind, right? At least, that’s what Mckenzie tells herself before learning that, try as you might, some people are simply unforgettable.

McKenzie takes off from home for the summer attempting to run away from her problems. Her problems being, Ryan. She’s known Ryan for so long and has history and a past with him. She’s suddenly torn… ex boyfriend Ryan or someone new and fun who happens to also be her roommate Jaxon?! She’s suddenly stuck in this love triangle and takes her time to make a decision. Ryan has hurt her in the past and she’s fully guarded wanting to make sure she isn’t setting herself up for heartbreak again.

This is a YA Romance about an 18 year old girl who has been heartbroken from the same boy for some time. She’s learning to say no, stick up for herself and deal with tough decisions.

Most of this book you will hear McKenzies POV but Ryan and Jaxon show you a little bit of themselves throughout, which I loved. From the beginning I was team Jaxon and remained that way all the way to the end! Read this book to find out if your team Ryan or Jaxon and who gets the girl!

I want to thank the author Brittany Wynne for gifting me this book in return for an honest review 🫶🏽

This book was by far better than the first. Brittany Wynne showed she can improve her storytelling and writing in the second installment of this series. Where "The Exception" felt like an idealized high school romance, "Forgetting You" showed a bit more maturity in both the writing and story. Dealing with Emma's little sister McKenzie and the love triangle she finds herself in running away from her problems the summer before she leaves for college.

I wanted to hear more from Jaxon in all of this. One chapter at the end was not nearly enough to understand his thoughts and motives. I honestly felt he was a manipulative jerk the entire book, but can see the appeal for younger audiences. Team Ryan 100%

YA is not really my thing, but I saw these books at a local bookstore and wanted to support a local self published author. The fact this particular one takes place where I grew up, made me want to read it. And you absolutely have to read the first to understand the second better. Both are very quick and easy reads. I look forward to seeing what Ms. Wynne has up next.

Forgetting You is about first love and first heartbreak, about making choices, about facing problems and not running away from them, about cherishing what's in front you and about accepting what the heart wants.

McKenzie is torn between two men: Ryan who stole her heart and Jaxon who is ready to give his heart to her. She is confused, she doesn't want to get hurt again, she wants a brand new start, but she can't seem to make a quick decision. They are both ready to do anything to win her heart. Who will McKenzie choose?

I would categorize this book as a YA romance. I appreciate how the author develops McKenzie's character. I can feel how she tries to get over her heartbreak, how she wants to be strong and how she doesn't want to repeat the same mistake again. Then again she is only 18 years old, learning about love and how to handle her fragile heart.

If you want to take a trip back to your teen years, this book will make you relive your first love moments.

New adult isn’t for me. As a 40 year old I just get frustrated by the angst and drama of late teens and 20 year olds. This was no exception.
