I was looking for paradise in the sun…not an all out war.
I've sworn off men to focus on my career. More specifically, I've sworn off athletes.
Running one of the busiest resorts in town is a full time job, and I have no time to play around with the crowds of athletes that come through here.
But when Weston Byrd shows up on vacation with his hockey teammates, my carefully calculated summer plan goes out the window. He seems bent on making my life as inconvenienced as possible, with his dimpled smile and chocolate colored eyes.
My plan is to ignore him.
But no matter how much I try, we keep getting thrown together. And then my ex shows up, and I do the unthinkable. I rope Weston into posing as my boyfriend.
I’m a professional. I can pretend some feelings his way.
Except. I don’t think I’m pretending anymore.
The Summer Nuisance is a laugh-out-loud, sweet, and good-feel romantic comedy novella! It introduces the Wentworth Ravens, a college hockey team, and their many mishaps and hilarious blunders when it comes to love! Each book can be read as a standalone.
I absolutely loved this novella, and this author’s writing style totally just clicked with me. While the romance and feelings move fast, the pacing was spot on and it packed all the fun and all the feels into one short story. And the meet-cute? LOVED IT!
Lily has a huge job on her hands, running an entire resort while juggling demanding guests and coworkers who keep her constantly on her toes. The last thing she needs is a hockey team checking in...especially since she’s sworn off athletes. But she’s a professional… she can handle it. Right?
When a meet-cute with the handsome Weston turns into fake dating to get back at an ex, things quickly get complicated. Weston isn’t backing down as his feelings grow, but Lily has a lot to lose, and a painful past with athletes. Can Weston prove to her that he’s different?
The chemistry between these two is off the charts. It didn’t feel like instalove so much as growing affection, and their meetups and run-ins were genuinely fun to read. And honestly, that pesky ex showing up just made everything even more entertaining.
Loved this book, and I am so ready for the next one in the series!
Cute, quick read....The Summer Nusiance This was a fairly well written, quick, fun, sweet read add in the sassy banter + the smoking hot chemistry with a hockey hottie and Lily could be looking at a fun filled summer. Except Lily can't decide if her past relationship should influence her current potential relationship with Weston. Can Lily & Weston move forward together or is Lily's opinion of athletes too much for them to overcome. Recommend The Summer Nusiance, a clean, romcom told from dual POVs. Note: This book is about the length of a novelette and has the feel of a prequel since it introduces readers to Weston & his Raven teammates with the promise of Book 1 during the summer of 2021. Hopefully, book 1 will continue Lily & Weston's story with more books dedicated to his teammates. Even though I did receive an advanced review copy of this book, I am voluntarily leaving my own unsolicited, voluntary opinion with this review.
It’s not a full novel, so you know everything will be on fast forward and abbreviated. It’s fun and enjoyable for the short novella that it is.
Lily is a young manager of a resort. A hockey team is staying at the resort and Lily hates athletes after her terrible ex boyfriend and other bad resort guests made her think they’re all the same. But what if they aren’t? Westin of the current hockey guests has Lily rethinking her no athlete policy. They have quick chemistry, although they face a few mishaps, and he is quick to help her out and show kindness when needed. It’s kind of cheesy and unrealistic how quickly they fall for each other, but it’s also kind of sweet and endearing.
I think this is a fun read for a day by the pool. Easy to finish in one sitting, has a summer resort vibe, and a sweet intro to a romance. It was a great ‘in between books’ book for me.
Lily is focusing on her career right now, no time for men and specifically athletes. The resort she manages is a full-time job. But Weston Byrd shows up on vacation with his hockey teammates and it’s one thing after another.
But when Lily’s ex shows up, she needs a little favor from Weston, asking him to pretend to be her boyfriend. But he even messes THAT up, because it was pretend… and he made it turn into something real!
Grab this sweet adorable romantic comedy with characters you can easily laugh with. See how Lily’s well-made plans unravel as she falls for the hockey player who brings out a smile every time.
This was a fun and enjoyable summer novella! I liked how it combined so many tropes- most notably sports romance, enemies to overs and vacation romance.
Since I work in hospitality, there were a few things described in the book that weren’t quite accurate. But that didn’t effect the story!
If you like a quick read that’s full of Hallmark movies moments this book is just for you! Nothing complicated, just a simple, fun and predictable read that will surly pull you out of a reading slump!
A fun sweet romance about a girl burned by an athlete and afraid to trust another. Lily is 22 and running a resort! How could anyone think she was "just" a poolside attendant? Well get this book and discover past and present and two very different stories!
Fast paced, well written, and with easy to like (or not) characters, this romance was the perfect thing to improve my day! I loved escaping into Lily's world and sharing her happiness! Lovely story!
I thought this was a very goid, quick read. Fun banter between characters and a stubborn girl who takes a while to realize what's in front of her! Cute book!
