I am thoroughly pleased to say that Peter Nealen continues to level up his craft with each subsequent book he writes. With Blood Debt, the 10th book in the Brannigan's Blackhearts series, we see the return of the Humanity Front, the shadowy group willing to bring utopia in their time through any totalitarian means necessary, as well as the return of Dan Tackett, the former Marine protagonist of Kill Yuan.

Without giving much away, the Blackhearts find themselves alone and unafraid in Kyrgyzstan's Tian Shan mountains, going on the hunt as the Humanity Front rears its head after years of inactivity. As is the norm for a Nealen turbo murder thriller, things go from bad to worse to "Why do I keep signing up for this?"

I've often commented on how Nealen's characterization has improved, going from how it was an area that could use a little improvement in his earlier books to one of his strengths in his later works. Blood Debt takes it to another level. If you've been following the series as long as I have, you will get your heart stomped reading this book, which is the sign of an excellent author.

I'm looking forward to the next one. Brannigan's Blackhearts is probably my favorite current series and I highly recommend it for folks looking for high-octane stories like the action-adventure turbo murder tales of yore.

Seriously, I look to reviews to find new authors all the time. Do yourself a favor and go back to the beginning of this series and purchase the first book. You might as well buy this one now as well because you will fly through the rest of them wanting more after you finish each one!

For those that would like to know, I read Clancy, Thor, Greaney, Flynn, Vince Milam and Peter Nealen’s books are some of my favorites. EVERY SINGLE SERIES he rights is gold! No joke - I have now read every book of every series written by him and they are all outstanding!

FYI - I have gotten nothing in return for this review. I do not know the author, I bought the book, the only thing I got I. Exchange for buying the book was hours of awesome friggin entertainment!!

Well done Mr. Nealen, well done!

Best yet?

Assuming this isn't your first Brannigan's Blackhearts novel then what do we get with #10? Well the Humanity Front is back and up to no good at their base in the mountains of Kyrgyzstan. The Blackhearts mount a rescue attempt with an acquaintance from a previous Nealen novel (Kill Yuan). Everything you liked about volume 1-9 is here in spades; the team dynamic, great villains, interesting locales and the action is fast and furious. Author Nealen writes some of the best action/military thrillers out there and Blood Debt is a perfect example. Highly recommended.

Cold hard action

Blackhearts are hired by an ex Seal to find and release his old army buddies who have been captured by a group experimenting with mind control. Overwhelmed in numbers and equipment, Brannigan and his cohort fight the battle of their lives to not only get the prisoners out, but save themselves. A good action thriller. ENJOY!

Another solid outing

Another episode in The Black hearts saga that keeps moving form the first page. A solid story that advances the overall adventure and isn't afraid to change the dynamics of the characters to fit the consequences. As usual, another winner from this author.

The Blackhearts 'find' an opportunity to engage the Humanity Front. As always, end-to-end action.
