A cursed vampire king claims she’s the key he’s been searching for.
Emery would think Rhys Roman was insane if it wasn’t for this annoying ability she’s had for her entire life: she can read minds. And oddly enough, she can’t read his.
Suddenly, Emery is ushered into a dark, deadly underworld of the city she loves where Rhys is reigning king. Or at least he is until the curse plaguing him and his vampires turns them all into feral bloodsuckers.
Time is running out. Rhys thinks only Emery can break the curse. She’d tell him to buzz off if every time he was near, her body didn’t turn electric with desire. Rhys has money, power, and a face to die for, but he only has eyes for Emery. The thrill of it is intoxicating, but what happens if she can’t help him?
Does he want Emery only to save himself? Or is it Emery that needs saving?
In A Dark Vampire Curse you can expect lots of should-I-shouldn't-I tension between the main characters and plenty of snark, sass and diehard loyalty between the members of this powerful vampire family. A Dark Vampire Curse is a full length novel with HEA for the main characters. Note there is a teaser epilogue for new series with cliff.
Nikki St. Crowe is a USA Today and No. 1 Amazon Bestselling Author specializing in dark, spicy romantasy where the villain gets the girl and the girl gets the power.
Nikki considers the start of her professional career to be in the 4th grade when she placed 2nd in a Young Author’s Competition. Back then she crafted stories about magical mansions and lost treasure. She’s since ditched the treasure hunts, but she'll never give up on the magical mansions (or the morally grey men who inhabit them).
These days, when Nikki isn’t writing or daydreaming about villains, she can either be found in the woods or at home with her husband and daughter.
Excellent vampire romance!!!! I love when I come across a new awesome paranormal romance writer! And Nikki St. Crowe is fabulous!!! With reading so many vampire romances out their and reading a whole bunch of them it takes a real great storyline and new characters to pull me in. Nikki St. Crowe is on my radar now so that means the stalking has begun😉 I loved the whole cursed vibe,it adds a great spin to this read with witches also in the mix. I loved both main characters. Rhys is a handsome and very powerful vampire who is barely controlling his hunger and that of his turned and if he can't get the curse lifted soon he and his turned will become out of control. When he meets Emery not only is she key to helping lift the curse as told by the Oracle but she stirs his blood like no women ever has. Emery is a mind reading sassy ass chic who just wants a promotion but when she meets tall dark and delicious Rhys her head tells her to run but her body has other idea's like being horizontal with big bad and fangy! Lots of great steamy action and great chemistry with awesome side characters like Kat a witch working to help break the curse and another vampire hottie Dane! This was a sexy hot read with great one liners and humor all though the book. I love passion and romance but I also love a good laugh with great snarky moments and this book had it all. Until next time luv's
First, I love that it's narrated by some of the same folks that did The Never King series 🤩
I really love a quick read/listen that gets right into the action. And once again, Nikki St. Crowe creates such enjoyable characters. I hope there's more to this story.
A bit of fan-fiction in places. I couldn’t get reverse Twilight out of my head - lamb, not being able to read that one person’s thoughts, vampire tales around a campfire, etc. Unique enough in other ways to not be a problem. The real problem is that Twilight has 3 million+% more substance than this book, and that’s saying a hell’a lot.
Pacing is slow and tedious. The first third drags. The last third is injected with magic mushroom shit that’s a barely formulated thought before racing off to a different subject. Typical problem of too much attention to detail amongst the buildup and no detail when it comes time for the things to be explained.
Winded inner musings. Repetitive phrases.
Most of the character/plot points weren’t very logical. She’s always been able to read minds, but she’s shocked to shit that vampires really do exist? Her mind-reading within the book is detailed with trivial shit, but she never reads anything on-page that helps the plot. So, it’s an ability as exciting as watching breadcrumbs sink to the bottom of a pond.
A bit childish, YA vibe at times that doesn’t really match up with the other character profile/plot points. Language comes off as teen, not mid-twenties and centuries old supernaturals.
The romance has zero development. None. I don’t feel a connection at all. The heat level is mild at best. This isn’t even insta love. It’s just I want to bite her and he’s so dangerously hot… oh, let’s screw… whew, btw omg I’d die for you.. fade to HFN.
This is one of those books that’s a lot of talk and very little doing.
As far as the FMC goes, I’d have to agree with her cousin…
Beth said, her face blank, “Sometimes you are also the world’s biggest idiot.”
Beth smiled. “Took you fucking long enough.”
Indeed. For a mind-reading supernatural, she sucks.
As far as the MMC goes… from big bad wolf to shmuck in 2.2 seconds. Dangerous to woe is me I’ve lied and I deserve to die.
The climax of meeting the *villains*… laughable.
“Kill Rhys Roman and his cursed vampires once and for all and let the witches reign.”
^^^ Sounds like Nickelodeon’s version of evil~
All the save her… save him… save us both shit is as melodramatic as Ben A in Armageddon.
An airborne curse… creative. I’ll give you that. But, so so very preteen soap opera that I just can’t stop rolling my eyes.
Ending out of nowhere. Wham, bam, oh we are one big happy family. No explanation on 99.9% of the plot points.
Sexy times… blink and you miss all two of them. Heat factor - zero.
Given the above, I didn’t even bother to read the epilogue, which I’m predicting is a pitch for the rest of the series that I won’t be reading. The ONLY reason I finished was to find out the what, how, why of what she turned out to be, and all that was MIA.
*Audio Proof Copy* 3.5 stars: A fun and quick vampire romance, and I really enjoyed the audiobook narration!
One thing I love about Nikki St. Crowe is that her books are short and easy to consume.
Like in Twilight, one of the MCs can read minds, but instead of the vampire reading minds, it's the mortal FMC called Emery. This ability is always fascinating, but I wish it would have played a bigger role in the story.
The Lore was fun, and the insta-lust didn't bother me. I wished I would have felt their chemistry a little more, though.
I can't wait for more books in this series!
🗂Genre: Paranormal Romance 📕Type: standalone
🏷Tropes: - Vampire x Mortal - Billionaire x normal person - "I want to bite you, just as much as I want to f you" - Magic and Curses
⚠️Safety: biting, blood, mention: murder of parents

I've received an advance copy of the audiobook for proofreading, but it wasn't required to write a review
It was good quick Vampire Paranormal romance and you could probably finish it off within 3 hours in one sitting.
A Dark Vampire Curse is a Adult paranormal romance situated in the modern world era and standalone.
3.5-⭐⭐⭐ 1-🌶️
- Mortals/ Immortals - Humans/ Vampires/ Witches/ Demons - Magics/ Curses - Multiple POVs with Third Person - Billionaire/ Secretary - Opposite worlds
I admit that it was hard to grasp the story in the beginning 'cause maybe need more detailed past?! Yes. Everything was fine at the first chapter which i find myself hooked. It had all wanted to cure the curse placed by the Ravenwood witches to the Vampire because of a power filled piece of land owned by House Roman. There was a tension, nice side characters, some actions and mystery and oh good suspense and twists.
Emery is capable of reading minds which sometimes benefits her and has had the ability to break her heart. When she attends a unofficial meeting with the very rich Rhys Roman, she is shocked with what he is convinced of. Rhys is sure that Emery is exactly what he needs to end what plagues him. Finding herself in this whole new world with vampires and finding out Rhys is basically the king of them is crazy but true. Rhys was cursed by a witch which means him and his vampires will become feral beasts. With every day becoming more of a struggle for control, Rhys knows time is running out and he needs Emery to break his curse. She obviously doesn't think she can do anything and his insistence is wearing thin but she can't help but desire all he is. Can she end what is turning him into a monster? Will she survive trying?
A gripping book that latched into me like an alien would... I could not put down my kindle until I had finished the entire thing. So much going on that my eyes darted left to right so fast I may need a break. This was action packed, tense with sexual desire and a truly addictive read. I loved the characters in this unique and creative world. Emery and Rhys have a deep connection that makes him very protective and I adored how that was written in its perfection. I now feel at a loss because I so crave the next book. This author has blown me away with this book and the character of Rhys has stolen my heart. Talent like this should not be overlooked or ignored.

Who doesn't enjoy a vampire read? This vampire romance caught my attention right away and the blurb made me want to dive in! (Also, I saw the author was taking it off of KU and I needed to read it before then. lol) **** Emery has always grown up with the ability to read peoples minds. After talking to her mother about it when she was younger, she knew she had to keep it a secret. Then after a terrible accident, she was raised by her Aunt. While working for TS Jension, she has moved up the ladder quickly and is ready to be taken more seriously by her boss. When work lands her in a club to meet property owner and very successful yet private bachelor, Rhys Roman - she wasn't expecting to feel what she felt.
Rhys Roman - currently in a curse that causes madness and bloodlust...He has been in this curse for hundreds of years and it is finally starting to take its toll. When an Oracle comes to him and tells him to meet with TS Jension company and "her," he is excited to finally get his chance to end this nightmare for him and House Roman.
What are the odds that - that night, he meets owner of TS Jension and her... The girl that calls to him and wants more than he's wanted anyone in his entire existence before.
Fast forward and Emery is thrusted into a life with Vampires, Oracles, Witches and demons...Can she really be the savior House Roman has been looking for? Can she find the truth about her own bloodline? Will she be able to succeed or will she die trying? Will the curse take over? *************** This book is full of twists and turns you don't expect. I enjoyed this story. I wish it had more though. I also wish it was in first person POV. Third person POV, to me, takes away from the characters more and creates a more impersonal story. This was a standalone, but I really think has potential to be so much more! I am excited to read more from this author.
This gave me major twilight fanfic vibes in a way all vampire books somehow do, don't know how to explain it. It was a little cringy ngl; esp whenever the fmc thought or spoke, she was also a bit frivolous, not in a bad way. There was a certain humour to the book as well thanks to her and Dane and Kat. Plot is mainstream but worked somehow yet imo was a bit poorly executed, the general idea of it was good but the overall vibes were mediocre as the writing was also a bit juvenile i would say. Not the best written Nikki St Crowe but i still enjoyed the setting and the vibe. I also wanted more of the system, felt like some things were only grazed upon and could have been explicitly explained and showcased but anyway, it wasn't bad. The premise of the curse was okay, the mentions of ley lines, witches of different elements and houses, the idea of the curse transferring all that was a good idea but it should have been more nurtured and developped i think. What was off to me, mostly, was the pacing of the romance. Sometimes was too slow, sometimes too fast. It was cute and all but i wanted more of them to have moments together idk.

This is what I wished Court of the Vampire Queen was.
This was a fun read and I enjoyed the lore! I actually wish it wasn’t a standalone because I think these characters and their relationships could be fleshed out soooo much more.
The MC had agency and the romance was insta-love but not gag worthy. I‘be read Nikki’s books before so expected less plot more spice, but it was actually the opposite! I read this thing in one sitting. God I love vampire books
Great start to a new series! The author brings strong characters and an intriguing story line. She brings action and danger as well as the romance. It's well written, moves quickly and smoothly and is an intense read. I'm looking forward to more from this series.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
This is a gripping read! A well written story about a vampire (Rhys) who is cursed and looking for a way to end it andEmery whom he is convinced is the answer! It’s an entertaining and in places, exciting read, it’s got drama, action and some smoking sizzling scenes as well as a few twists and turns thrown in. Intense, sassy and a little snarky, this grabbed me from the very start.
Short, but okay read. I didn't realize it was a prequel to the Wrath and Reign books which I have also read. Story was okay and I did enjoy it, but there was next to nothing in spice, which is why I gave it the rating I did. I do like Nikki's work though and have read other books by her that I have enjoyed more.
A quick and fun vampire romance. I should have read it before reading Wrath and Reign, but it worked in the order I read it too. I think Nikki St. Crowe could write a college textbook and I would read it.
I liked the plot but definitely would have loved if it was longer with more romance building between emery and rhys as well as going more into depth on the magic and the curse and just about everything to be honest.
I want to know more about everything

Her books are short but her stories are all consuming!
This standalone takes place prior to the Demon King series and is a vampire romance.
The main female character has always been able to read minds all her life, everyone except Rhys, a gorgeous and mysterious billionaire her boss wants to work with.
This is a spicy vampire romance with a hidden powers trope.
I really enjoyed both Rhys and Emery, the male and female leads. I liked the way they each developed as individuals, supported by each other, but by each person’s own work. I also enjoyed how their relationship developed and how they invested in each other. The secondary characters were also deeply engaging and there are several that I hope to see a story for soon.
This full length story is dual POV, well written, and a great introduction to a new world peopled with interesting characters and a novel premise. I received a complimentary copy from the author but this is my voluntary, honest review.
I love finding hidden gems amongst the baubles that litter the Paranormal Romance field. A Dark Vampire Curse by Nikki St. Crowe is one of those gems. Well written and executed to perfection it was escapism to another world at its best! Bursting with magic and mayhem the two leads Emery Blake and vampire Rhys Roman snag the readers interest and keep hold of it as their story unfolds with blazing hot expertise. Emery can read minds, a secret she has kept hidden throughout her life. Rhys and his brethren have been living under a curse placed by a witch’s coven centuries past that soon will be reaching its culmination, resulting in their demise. Into this maelstrom of intrigues Emery is introduced with every captivating and delicious moment coalescing into a well rounded energy fueled narrative. Secondary characters exuded their own special charms and I found the story evenly paced between the action and delicious romantic moments of Rhys and Emery. The pull between these two was strong and the bedroom high point was hot indeed. Secrets will be revealed, truths will be told, wrongs will be righted, and through it all a truly engaging story is unveiled! I can’t wait to read more of the authors work in future. HEA

Rating: 2.5 stars I've seen sooo many good reviews for this one and I don't understand? Did we read a different book?
This book was meh for me. I couldn't really get the reverse Twilight out of my mind. Don't get me wrong, I am one of the people who actually likes Twilight (with admitting it's toxic), but this just wasn't it. This book is described as a vampire romance, and I cannot see why. There is literally no chemistry between the two main characters, no build-up, nothing. Not even insta-love! She just thinks he's hot and he just wants to bite her... There wasn't much else to the story for me either. There was a curse with the Vampires and some witches here and there but it felt like they were just thrown in there to fill up the story. Besides, Emery has the ability to read minds (which is an ability which I've always been very interested in reading about). But she hears literally nothing of use, just some trival things here and there but nothing that helps the plot. Anyway, this book is a no for me! ;)
I’m giving this book three stars mainly because the final 20% managed to keep me engaged, but honestly, the rest was a 'no go' for me.
Rhys, while a handsome, rich, sexy vampire, didn’t quite live up to his potential. His personality was a bit meh, and the FMC was so underdeveloped that she felt almost non-existent.
The storyline moved way too fast, with too much happening in too short a time. I get that the plot can take a backseat when the focus is on the spice, but here, the spice felt like a small part of an otherwise unremarkable story.
No complaints about the spice, though—Nikki knows how to write it well 🦄. Overall, this book just wasn’t for me, but I’ll give 100 points to Gryffindor for Rhys with a British accent.
