Fugitive hunter, Remy Fontaine, is about to be assigned her first lead investigation. The former Louisiana State Trooper, turned FAU agent, however, wasn’t going to be working alone.
A series of bank robberies in the southern part of Louisiana had remained under the radar, until one of the hits ended with a fatality. Now, the US Marshals are stepping in and Remy will be taking the helm alongside US Deputy Marshal Cole Grayson.
It quickly becomes clear that the two have their own ideas as to how to search for their fugitive. But when Remy is sideswiped by the man she put in prison years ago, her confidence is shaken.
Now, however, in order to see this through, she must stand her ground. And when she learns that the fugitive’s wife has something to hide, it is Remy who uncovers the truth. With her past catching up to her and the payback she’d been expecting having finally arrived, will she maintain focus on the hunt, or will she allow the devil to collect his due?
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of "THE DEVIL'S WAGE" WOW!!!! Another fabulous Remy Fontaine Thriller that grabs you from start to finish with so much suspense, intrigue, angst, secrets, loss, grief, a little steam, past secrets get revealed, mystery, action, twists that make for a very addicting story. Remy Fontaine former Louisiana State Trooper now an FAU Agent with her first lead investigative case not working alone though she had US Deputy Marshall Cole Grayson to help but she's the lead. There's been a series of bank robberies in the South of Louisana two brothers fisherman need money desperately Eric & Wesley Dunn but on the last job something went horribly wrong & Wesley can't live with what he's done. Remy & Cole on the hunt for the fugitives no leads the fishing community is a tight knit group that don't talk to outsiders frustration at not getting anywhere. Remy talks to Eric's wife Nessa Dunn who acts like she doesn't know anything but she thinks she's hiding something Remy doesn't trust her. Remy's been getting letters & phone calls from Kyle DeChamp a man she put away in prison when she was 17 her records are suppose to sealed so how he's reaching her she doesn't know he's not suppose to have contact with her ever. Remy's having problems concentrating on the investigation with her past coming back to haunt her. I definitely recommend to get this amazing well written riviting rollercoaster ride of a story so much happens while hunting down the fugitives, one hot steamy night Remy & Cole give in to their desires next day act like it never happened. I'm so looking forward to next Remy Fontaine Thriller dealing with Kyle DeChamp in prison his threat he knows Max Pena's family that worries Remy maybe Grayson will be back to help help her I certainly hope so. AWESOME AWESOME READ!!!!
This is the continuing story of Remy Fontaine Thriller being the second book in this series. Remy is 32 and a former Louisiana State trooper is still being fairly new and a bit of a greenhorn in her new position at the (FAU) Fugitive Apprehension Unit is given her first assignment as lead investigator. Her case is to apprehend bank robbers who on the last raid killed a young five year old girl in the Southern part of the country. She is also to work alongside a experienced hard nose US Deputy Marshal Cole Grayson who has his own thoughts and ways of doing things makes life and her judgment strained, plus she has the local parish police to contend with and keep happy. On top of this Remy is going through difficult times when a man she put inside is somehow getting to her from inside prison threatening her sanity and her confidence. Racked with bad memories from the case she has to work extra hard to see things through and bring the bank fugitives to justice. The story mixes both together well and you could read this a single story but I would advise to read book 1 before to get a clear picture and understanding of Remy and her past.
Will Remy succeed and be strong enough to get through everything being thrown at her and keep her sanity? “You have to read the book!”
Eric and his brother Wesley another heist, neither had the knack for fishing, and had bills to pay. This job, Wesley panicked, firing a gun, a little girl fell. FAU Agent Remy her first investigation to catch the fugitives. Her partner was Greyson, along came insecurity could she do her first case and solve. A man from her past, leaves her shaken, as does the different way this partner has of looking for the evidence, then Remy does. Remy her personal life as she says a raging. inferno, losing a partner, and a new job. This story shows how she is coping. Case she uncovers secrets and a wife had secrets that would effect her husband, if he would run or protect his wife and the three children. The plot flows, and I enjoy how Remy stepped up to the challenge. Well done and do recommend. Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion
I enjoyed Terrebonne Bay. Book 2 definitely came together better than book 1 and i’m more invested in Remy and what happens to her and her life. I hope we see more of Remy’s personal life in the coming books. I enjoyed the plot of book 2 and thought that the author did a good job with it all coming together at the end. There were some things that happened i genuinely didn’t expect. Heading to book 3 now!
So far this series isn't winning me over. Remy seems to be a bit of a lackluster, sort of goody two shoes. Hopefully she will find her inner self assured being. Let's hope.
Eric and his brother and wife run a fishing business which as of now is not doing very well. Eric talks his brother into robbing banks for extra money but when his brother accidently shoots a little girl - things begin to tumble. Remy investigating the murder and robberies soon discovers the wife seems to have something to hide. As the hunt begins things are revealed that Eric had no knowledge of. Can the truth come out without any injuries? What is being hidden and why?
Brilliant sequel in this new series. Remy has her work cut out in this one. Plenty of action and some nail bitting moments. But such a thrilling read. No spoilers from me but Remy is sure turning out to be a real kick ass character.
