Alien Abduction #11

Kate and the Kraken

Rate this book
A rebellious alien prince. An overworked human female. A planet in crisis.

Kate spends most of her time in her lab, and as much as she believes in her job, she occasionally longs for a break. Being captured by aliens isn’t exactly what she had in mind.

Neither is being forced to abandon ship and almost drowning in an alien ocean. But the massive alien warrior who saves her? He might be exactly what she needs.

Prince A’tai is desperate to escape his family and their nefarious political schemes. On his way to a remote island, he rescues a smart, beautiful female. She doesn’t belong in his world, but he is determined to keep her.

But A’tai is not quite what he seems, and the planet of Mafana holds more than one secret. Can Kate and A’tai survive political intrigue, a planetary crisis, and their inescapable differences to forge a happy ending?

Each book in the Alien Abduction series can be read as a standalone romance. This sweet and steamy romance is intended for a mature audience only.

3.5 stars - This was my first book in this series, but definitely won't be my last! There was a kind of sweetness that enjoy in these kinds of marriage of convenience stories with speculative elements... I did side eye some of the enslavement elements, but overall, I will definitely read more in the series & continue to really enjoy Honey Phillips

Honestly, those stars belong to A'tai. And I will admit that although I didn't like Kate for most of this book, I did somewhat like her by the end. I loved how he knew instantly that she was the woman for him. The attraction was very strong between these two, which was hilarious because Kat was described as the super analytical and deprived of emotion. At least she was in her previous life. I enjoyed the nod to the little mermaid and while I didn't really understand the mechanics of their sex life (he was an octopus man after all), it was still hot.

I did want to know if Kate's friends, the other kidnapped woman she befriended, were saved and I'm happy to see that their books are next.

It started so interesting and then Kate’s responses to things became very untrue to her character. And not in a growing way.

4 stars. I really enjoyed this book! It’s very sweet, with a good storyline that kept me very attached to this story until the end.

In general, this is a pretty typical alien romance. But where the author could have easily made some choices to make it more angsty, she definitely chose the sweet path. I liked the hero & heroine… they made for a good couple. Who would think that an octopus man could be an attractive prospect? 🐙 Now I’m looking forward to the next books in this series.

Safe; Some slight OW drama, but very mild. Both virgins, although hero had previously had some sexual encounters that didn’t include full sex. TW: slavery, attempted rape

sex scenes were hot. that’s all. i didn’t really like the characters.

wasn’t a fan if how he sexualized her from the beginning.

didn’t like this bit.
“She’d never even considered using her feminine wiles on a man before, but then again, A’tai wasn’t exactly a man. And the thought of becoming more intimate with him wasn’t exactly unpleasant. Her traitorous body definitely agreed. A speculative smile curved her lips as she went to collect more water.”

going to the market alone was stupid and immature of kate. did she suddenly forget that her ex slavers wanted her back?

Was surprised

By this story. Which I enjoyed. Love the unusual if done right.
It did start a little choppy and I did not like her future bond-mate. But warmed up to him.
Was puzzled they did not make a big splash about her discovery instead added old, predictable event in the market.

This book is a welcomed addition to a spectacular series! I could not wait to sit down with a Honey Phillips read and believe me I was not disappointed. I love the water world aspect and transition of these characters from water to land based…very inventive. I loved the chemistry between Kate and A’tai. It was a slow burn and every page was steamy with anticipation of romance or danger. I even think that the mothers name U’rsul was clever…the evil sea witch. LOL. Download this one because it is worth every penny…ten star worthy!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Having read a couple of Honey's books I'm turning into a huge fan.

I loved this romantic steamy read set in an imaginative world and only wish I could find my own Kraken.

I could really relate to Kate as I used to want to be a scientist. The way she bonded to her mate was just wonderful.

Great read and well recommended. I'll have to go back and read some of the others.

3.5 stars.
Yeah. I’m definitely into tentacles.
Every new book that has them just reaffirms that.
I really did not think that would ever be the case, but holy hell are they hot.
And they were definitely hot in this book.

I loved this.
The tension. The way Kate grows from beginning to end. The way A’tai grows with her.
I really liked the relationship struggle the two of them faced, and how they were able to acknowledge it so they could try harder in the future.

Plus there’s the sex. Of course there’s alien🐓 to go along with the tentacles. Which in this book, the Mafana can bring together for their ‘land form’ of two tentacle made appendages sort of like legs. Which was a cool touch which I’ve yet to see anywhere else.
But during mating they spread them out to use as restraints, and the suckers taste and tease all over.
It was hot.
Not super varied, because the Mafana really only use one position and the females fight the males, hence the ‘mating position’. But it was still passionate. And playful. And sexy.

What really brought my rating down was my own impatience to get to the fun bits.
The beginning just seemed to drag, and I know most of that had to be my own mindset while reading it, but I just couldn’t ignore the feeling.
It was so strong that I contemplated skipping ahead.
I’m glad I didn’t. But the fact that I thought about it at all brought the score down some.

I’m really glad I skipped through the others in the series to read this one after starting with ‘Greta and the Gargoyle’. I didn’t like that one nearly as much as this and I almost didn’t even bother with this one because of that.

I’m happy to be proven wrong though.
I really enjoyed this. And I think I might just go ahead and see how Lily and her Lion fare in the next book, too.

I have nothing but love for the Kraken-man, my friends. NOTHING.BUT.LOVE. Seriously. I like tentacles and I like princes who aren't all that into the trappings of royalty. Yep, dudes who get excited about manuscripts and studying do it for me. Dudes who rescue stranded humans and still act gentlemanly even when they're craving said human something fierce? EVEN BETTER.

Kate's had a rough month...err, couple of months? However long it's been since she was human-napped from Earth and shoved into a holding cell for transport to a slave auction. Come to think, it probably wasn't a couple of months. It was just long enough for her to get used to the idea of aliens and form a bond with the other two women captured. Then she gets jettisoned onto Mafana and meets a prince with tentacles and the rest is history.

No, wait. There was more than that. These two have a few things to work through. A'tai is being secretive about his prince-ness and they're two VERY different beings. Physically, that is. Kate's human and A'tai isn't and how is it going to work when they start getting hot and heavy, right? Except A'tai makes Kate feel safe and, once the secrets get spilled, everything can work itself out as long as you have physical compatibility, amirite?!?!

I very sincerely enjoy these abducted women and the aliens who fall for them. Things aren't always easy, but they ARE always smoking hot. And dangerous. Yeah, these human women do end up in a lot of dangerous situations, but I like that. It's fun!

Fantastic addition to the series 😘💖💞

I'm so very happy that H.P keeps adding to this series it just never gets old. Kate and the Kraken was excellent! It has humor, a dash of danger and lots of passion. Kate is a smart socially awkward scientist who had the bad luck of getting abducted while on a short break from her work. She woke up in a cage and found two others in her same predicament. For the first time in her life she made friends and then she was abruptly torn from them and landed on a gorgeous water planet where she is rescued by A’tai. A’tai is the Prince of his people who just happens to have the bottom half of a kraken and The top half being more human like. The amazing thing about his species is that they have a land form as well as a sea form and oh my goodness what he can do with those tentacles🔥🔥🔥🔥 they are attracted to Each other from the first minute they meet. Both have very similar scholar like personalities. They don't enjoy social situations but prefer to be left to their own devices. They are perfect for each other💖💖💖 this was such a fun pleasurable story. The world building is always wonderful I loved how smart and capable Kate was and A’tai is everything an alpha male should be with the added deliciousness of his tentacles. I highly recommend this book and I can't wait to read about what happened to the other two ladies💖🔥💖💖💖🔥💖💖🔥💖💖💖💖🔥🔥💖🔥💖💖🔥💖💖💖💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖

Why am I only now find thing author?! Nearly halfway through too still means more for me to read while I very, very impatiently wait for the next one to come out!
Kate is a scientist who has been abducted from her planet with two other human women. When there is a chance that the ship will be boarded and the illegal human slaves found, they are jettisoned in escape pods by their abductors. Kate's crashes into the sea and she barely survives. A storm rolls in and she is about to drown when she is saved by A'tai. Prince A'tai is trying to escape his mother who is determined to mate him off. She is a social butterfly but A'tai falls far more into the human category of geek, although he is more greek god meets octopus. He hates having to "people" and runs, ok swims away at the first chance he can. Putting him right in the path of Kate's crashed pod as it starts to sink beneath the waves.
I loved how sweet he was despite having been raised a prince. Not known for being understanding or humble. Despite all that he definitely has a firm sense of right and wrong. Nothing is done out of malice and although he struggles he tries hard to understand. Kate is used to being alone and not having to cope with the feelings or wishes of others (another contender for the stereotype of geek).However this something she truly wants to try to work out with A'tai. The planet and the descriptions of it's people just leap off the page. I loved it all, so absorbing, fun and quirky with just the right amount of steam.
I cannot wait to find out what happens to the other two ladies.

I’ve not read any alien romances with the male having tentacles but I love Honey’s books so thought I’d give it a read. I’m glad I did, it’s well written as usual and had a lovely storyline too with lots of steamy scenes. Kate was abducted from earth by slavers who then put her in a pod and ejected her with the intent to track her and get her back. Kates pod leaned in the ocean and had a broken seal and if not for A’tai finding her when he did she would have drowned in it. A’tai takes her to an underwater cave and tends to her while she is ill. Once she is better he takes her to his farmhouse on an island. He hasn’t told her he is actually a prince but tells her he intends to mate with her. She is a scientist and after A’tai takes her to a lab she soon gets stuck in on trying to find the cause of an algae problem they have. A’tai is very possessive and soon has a lab built at the farmhouse for her. When A’tai gets the results of Kate’s experiments he knows he has to return to the capital, and his mum. He just hopes that his mum doesn’t cause any trouble for the happy couple.

I loved this book!
I’m also a little bias because I have loved anything and everything that Ms. Phillips has been writing from the beginning.
Anyways, here we are, back in the Alien abduction universe that I missed so much.
Kate wakes up in a cage after being abducted by aliens and on her way to some slave auction to be a sex slave or worse. Lucky for her, after the slave ship gets in the sight of the imperial fleet and they need to get rid of the illegal cargo, A.K.A. Humans, ASAP. Kate is placed in an escape pod and sent in her merry way with the threat that the slavers will come back looking for her after the imperial inspection.
Kate lands in the sea of a strange planet, where A’tai finds her… And this is where our story begins.
I loved how Kate is a levelheaded heroine, A’tai seems a little childish and petulant here and there, but his character develops fascinatingly. He is able to learn from his mistakes and is not afraid to apologize when he’s in the wrong.
Overall, if you are looking for a hot alien abduction romance under the RWATLLA with a kick-ass heroine and a hot Alien H, this is your book.

This was an ok book, it read a bit like a novella at times though it was over 200 pages, where things are rushed or info is lacking or character development is light or relationships seem to happen to quickly. It is independent in the series, I hadn’t read any of the others in the series & wasn’t lost. I would have liked more details on the Prince’s physical side since he somehow was able to morph from a normal male body (accept for his dick) to his water form (octopus or kraken alien) that was hard to really get a mental image going since it wasn’t a change like a shifter does. So it was rather vague at times, with just a hint at times to seem scandalously different (especially his dick!LOL). This wasn’t a book I would want to re-read.

This was such a fun and sweet, low-angst alien romance! I've formed a huge love for Kraken romances of late, especially if done well. This one was done very well, with some new and unique twists to the features of the Kraken species than I'm used to! I found myself smiling and laughing quite often. Which is always a plus. And the steamy moments between A'tai and Kate were super sexy and sweet and perfect. I thoroughly enjoyed this book! Definitely an easy light read and very enjoyable. Highly recommend if you're looking for a Kraken/Alien romance!

I loved this book! There's just something about Honey's writing that I always love- both the characters and the worlds. They just suck me in and I'm unable to put these books down.

This book felt really unique to me. I suppose thinking of a kraken made me believe that this story would center mostly in water or near water settings. But it has a wonderful balance between water and land that felt so interconnected that it felt really natural to think of both areas as 'home'- one an extension of the other. I found the hero A'tai's species fascinating. Heroine Kate completely nailed it when she calls him an alien octopus man. Though this book felt more about a different species than aliens in outer space. I loved both characters. They had wonderful chemistry. And it was nice to see the grumpier sides of these heroes/heroines- they're allowed to have their frustrating days, too!

I was also drawn in by a number of the supporting characters. Especially Kate's two human friends we meet briefly in the beginning of the book. I'm really looking forward to reading their stories- and awaiting their reunion.

A really great engaging book. I enjoyed every page and I wholly recommend it! 5 stars.

Another sexy adventure

The male lead, A'tai, {who also happens to be a prince} is definitely more alien than some of the others in the series...but is still sexy and actually quite sweet without being a boring pushover...
Kate is of course a human who was abducted {with two other women, whose stories will continue after this one} from earth...when the slavers {in fear of getting caught with the illegal slaves} sent the three women off of the ship in pods to three different planets...
This is Kate's story:
Kate, who is fiercely independent yet shy, has her doctorate in Marine biology and has been studying algae. She is rescued by A'tair, who is captivated by her. His natural princely arrogance and fear of losing Kate, combined with the fact that she is technically a slave and trying {unsuccessfully 😉} fight her attraction to him...make for some intense & steamy make-up sex. Oh, did I mention underwater mating??
As usual there is HEA...as long as the author writes them, I will keep reading them. :)

Glad to be back !!!

What an amazing, fabulous read !!
Back in the " Abduction " series , we find Kate has fallen into a water world after being kidnapped by those thieving ithyians, and sent there in an escape pod.
Kate meets Prince A' Tai , who uncovers Kate after a bit of perilous action !! But he does not tell her who he really is. He wants to be loved for himself , not who he is. And she needs to find her friends who were with her. In this alien world , girls gotta stick together !!

As they get to learn and discover each other , this story becomes a wonderful story of adventure in a new land, new experiences and we get to see a new world with spectacular scenes and realistic views....reads almost like a movie!!
I enjoyed this voyage very much and look forward to the next in this stupendous series !!!

🐙 “I will provide for you in all things and protect you against all others. I will treat you with the utmost respect. You will belong only to me. And I will belong only to you.”
~~~
Kate is great! She’s so smart and, after being abducted by slavers, she shows such bravery. And I loved her curiosity.
I really liked A’tai, too. As a prince, he’s strong, responsible, honorable and protective. But he can be quite primitive when it comes to his mate. And I loved his nerdy side.
I loved the development of their relationship. Both Kate and A’tai are scholars and fit very well together. They were a great match and their chemistry was amazing and sizzling hot.
Overall, the story is another wonderful and sweet addition to the series. It’s filled with action, suspense, a dash of humor, danger, slow-burn and steamy romance and great characters.
I loved it!
Fantastic read.
Told in 3rd person
Fated mates trope, attraction at first sight.
Dual virgins.
(Dont remember reading about heroine’s sex life)
Both are intelligent beings.
Even though the initial attraction is there, the heroine did not throw caution to the wind when they first met.
Mild Self induced angst due to misunderstanding caused by circumstance. They kinda just met and even though the heroine felt safe with the hero, they didn’t fully open up until later on after getting to know each other. 👌🏼
Possessive, loving, sexy, intelligent and senpai in the sheets octopus alien prince stud muffin meets smart human female scientist! ❤️
Steamy smex scenes! 🌶💯 octopus stud muffin is insatiable!
trigger warning:
mentions of slavery and attempt sexual assault
Would I re-read? The book was good. But reading it once was enough for me.
I do recommend this book!
Also if you have no read the other books of this series, you should check It out!
Especially Contagion.💯💯💯💯
Human Kate spends her time in the lab but being abducted by aliens wasn't the kind of break she wanted or needed. Then she is forced to abandon the ship into an escape pod and almost drowns in an alien ocean. Prince A'tai is desperate to escape his family and their political schemes but on the way to a remote island he rescues Kate and although she doesn't belong there he is determined to keep her. However, he is not quite what he told her and the planet has more than one secret. Can they both survive the politics, a planetary crisis and their differences to get a happy ending?
I enjoyed this story with Kate being the right kind of scientist to land on the planet and the right woman for A'tai. I loved that they were able to work it out and were actually the perfect match. Easy to read and understand, this book contains scenes for mature audiences only.
This book was a hoot! I enjoyed the length of it and it’s contents. I will say there were a couple plot holes I think would probably be filled by reading the rest of the series but, for this book only I will say I was left confused in a couple places. The FL was relatable for me as I hate men or I just don’t think of them in that way. I loved she continued to practiced her specialty and the ML supported it pretty well. On to the ML he was your classic ML had his moments where he spoke about something to rash and caused an argument but then immediately made up for it. I liked the pacing between the main characters and their first ✨woo hoo✨scene and it was well written. The anatomy of the ML and his species could’ve been better described but, it gave home enough to picture.
