The first nine Tarzan novels are collected in this print volume. I won't post my reviews for the nine novels here (but please check Goodreads under those specific titles if you would like to see my thoughts on each) but rather just say that the stories are generally awesome, classic pulp adventures, written 1912-1923.

It is good to have such an incredible count of adventure stories, available on Kindle for under a dollar (total!) or in print for about $30. The print format, though, does get rough at times, just by having so much content in one big volume, large pages with small print. The eye strain got bad enough that I would pause and do other things before coming back to it.

Verdict: As a collection of stories for an incredibly low price, it can't be beat, and I appreciate the independent publisher for making it available. If you have an interest in adventure tales, pulp classics, or fantasy genre milestones for a home library, this is a must-have collection. For those who need regular- or large-sized print or like having a pocket-sized paperback when you read, though, this print format won't be for you.

Averaging my ratings for the stories included I get a 3.4 so I'll round up to 4:
Tarzan of the Apes (4)
The Return of Tarzan (3)
The Beasts of Tarzan (4)
The Son of Tarzan (3)
Tarzan and the Jewels of Opar (4)
Jungle Tales of Tarzan (3)
Tarzan the Untamed (5)
Tarzan the Terrible (4)
Tarzan and the Golden Lion (1)

Very fun books! I had read the John Carter Mars series when I was a young lady and loved them. But I never thought to read Tarzan.

Well I am happy that I did because they are lots of fun. Sure there are a LOT of things that happen by convenience just to move the plot forward, but Tarzan is such a fun character. And is he ever brutal. This ain't your Disney Tarzan, Dorothy.

I finished the first two books so far, and am taking a break before reading book 3. I also think I will reread the Mars series again. See how it holds up to my great memories of them.

I am also going to reread the Elric Saga. I just ordered the whole set on ebay. Yep i'm getting nostalgic in my old age.

Get off my lawn! 😃

I just really enjoyed this book. Yes it makes you defy reality but that's what reading is for. I was just in the mood for some good ol' escapism and Tarzan came through!
