Wrath Tempest has always been the caretaker in his family. As the eldest, he helped care for all of the younger children. When tragedy struck their family, he held them all together until they could each stand on their own.
In business with his brothers and sisters, Wrath seems content with his life. One woman who just won’t take no for an answer manages to find her way into not just his family, but into his heart.
Val Collins made it through her childhood with only her sister to count on. When their mother led them into a dangerous situation, they were able to escape with the help of their stepfather. Once they were free, Val had more responsibilities than she expected, but she met the challenges head-on and made a life for herself.
Now, Val wants answers, but while she’s searching for them, she just might find love.
More, more, more! If you're under 35, you probably won't know what I'm talking about, but I can't get enough of Ms. Bowman's books. I didn't exactly realize that this was a new series about Fain's family, but I loved it. Again, more, more, more!!
3.5 stars. This was an ok read. There wasn’t much to it though. Everything just seemed a tiny bit too easy considering some of the heavy content it danced around. There was a tiny bit of fight between Wrath and Val at the very beginning, and then it was just solved. Then they were just in a very fast paced relationship with no problems. Then there was Val’s problems with her past coming back to haunt her, and those just seemed to dissipate like smoke, too.
I don’t know. I liked the story, and the characters. The sex was brief and sort of uneventful, but ok. I just wanted more from it.
I’ve been really loving the Time Served MC series that this author has out now, and I enjoyed reading about Smokey and Martha’s MC in Rojo. So I guess I was just hoping that this would bring some of that entertaining brand of crazy that make those other books so good, to the table, too.
Oh well. It was still enjoyable. Just a bit anticlimactic. Hopefully the next book is better.
Val Collins is wanting to do her thesis on the Tempest siblings, a family that was raised in a cult and have strived in the aftermath of getting out. She seeks out Wrath who is the oldest Tempest sibling and the one who seems to be the core to keeping the family together but when Val approaches him she is met with an adamant no. However Val has her own reasons for wanting to seek this particular family out but will Wrath give her the chance to explain?
Wrath is torn with his attraction to Val from wanting to stay away to wanting to explore his feelings for her. Val is a bit gun shy though about dating Wrath, can he prove to Val he is worth the chance or will her past keep the apart?
I loved this. I thought the whole story was unique and can't wait for the other books to come. Wrath is intense, I liked that he was a jerk at times but he redeems himself. All the siblings are fascinating and I hope the Sisters and daughters for Val have their own stories to come.
Lots of people and I'm not sure who they are, I had to look into past books not knowing where they came from and just had to let it go to get into the story. My current reread was more enjoyable
I was really happy to see this series with Fain's family. When we met them in Fain and Jenna's book I really liked them.
With this one we learn more about their childhood, which wasn't great. I liked the way that the info was revealed, through a project that Val was working on. At first I wasn't sure about Val, it seemed like maybe she was out to exploit the Tempest family, but once her own past came out I was ok with what she was trying to learn. To say that Wrath didn't leave a good impression on Val at first was an understatement! I did like how they were able to talk things out and later start something. Both of them deserved someone good in their lives.
The drama at the end was crazy, but I liked that Wrath had everyone covered and that Fain and the Kings jumped in when more help was needed.
The ending had me smiling, loved seeing Val and her family getting to know the Kings, Fain, but most especially Martha Forrester. I would love to see a short story with this whole group together at Thanksgiving like they talked about.
Wrath is book 1 in The Tempest Series written by the talented author Cee Bowerman. Buckle up my friends, you will fell in love with Wrath and Val!! I can't wait for more from the Tempest brothers and sisters. This was outstanding. I’m not going to write a review full of spoilers because you need to read this book with no preconceived ideas with no expectations and enjoy every emotion.
This book is the first in a new series created as a spin-off from Texas Kings MC, by the same author. Fain introduced us to the Tempests and gives us their backstory. Reading this book before starting this new series would probably make the story more comprehensible.
The Tempests are a large family, that used to be larger before their father killed several people. Their father was a leader of a cult and had several ‘wives’ so not all the siblings have the same mother, but they all had the same father. Their father is now dead and his cult scattered, but the Tempests have stayed fairly local and now own some buildings and businesses. Wrath owns a tattoo studio.
Val is writing a doctoral thesis on cults and wants to interview the Tempests. She wants to know why people get sucked into cults and how they escape them. She has tried writing to them several times but when she just shows up Wrath hits the roof. As the eldest, he feels responsible for looking after the rest of his family and refuses to let someone dig up painful memories for no good reason. Val manages to talk the other siblings into coming to her home to meet her and talk to her about what she wants to interview them about and Wrath finds himself wanting to date her. When the problems from Val’s past come back to haunt her, Wrath can’t do anything but help her, even if she doesn’t know he’s doing it.
It’s quite a while since I read Fain, and I think I should have re-read it before diving into this book, as a quick refresher. Because I didn’t refresh my memory I think that there were things that were lacking in this book. If you start with this book without the background I think you miss out on a lot of the world-building and character development. A lot of information about the Tempests isn’t included in this book because it was included in the other one and without that information, you don’t really understand who the characters are.
Despite that lack of background, I enjoyed the book. The characters were interesting with both families being unique in their structure. I felt we got to know Val a little more than Wrath, which isn’t surprising as we were coming into learning about her character cold, whereas we had met Wrath before. I’m sure as the series develops we will get to know Val and her family well, as that is the case in the other Cee Bowerman series, the characters are always popping up in the later books.
I will say this about Val though, for a woman who was seeing clients for counselling, she wasn’t very good at avoiding her own triggers, so she wouldn’t go off the deep end when placed under pressure.
I felt the plot was a little simplistic for a very complex situation and that the author had squashed a lot of the plot down into a simpler form in order to get the book written in a timely fashion. This could have been a much longer book if the author had wanted it to be because it would have been very easy to expand a little on the characters and the plot.
I don’t feel this was one of this author’s stronger books, but it was still enjoyable and I look forward to seeing how this series develops.
I loved the Tempest family when we were introduced to them in Fain & Jenna's book so its great that they have their own series. Wrath is the oldest and therefore assumes responsibility for his siblings. I think at their age he needs to concentrate more on himself and Val helps him do that. It didn't start out well because quite frankly he was an asshole but thankfully they get better. I loved all the characters. Val and her family are an interesting bunch and together with the Tempests they make an interesting read. Wrath and his siblings have a tragic past and Val's family is the same way. They have that in common and can understand each other better. Some suspense and meeting up with familiar characters from Texas make it that more interesting. Looking forward to the next in series. The only "complaint" I have is that the pictures on the cover don't even remotely look like I've imagined they look. They have blond har or variations of. I picture them more like the men from "Vikings"
Wow!! just wow! bravo on a new start to a series. It's new but a spinoff from Fain's book #12 of her MC Series (Texas Kings MC) it's his family. And boy is it so good. Loved the cover of this book. And Wrath does remind me of a Viking. Can't wait to see what the covers for the others will be. Really enjoyed the characters all of them. Valentine (Val) is such a strong person to overcome and thrive after what happened to her at 15/16 years of age. The dynamics of her family amazed me. And Clover is hilarious. Wrath and his siblings have come so far from their beginnings. Such a strong family. And hey he's a Viking looking hottie with tattoo's and a tattoo artist I mean come on can you say hottie? I know I sure can. I can't wait to see how this comes along. Can't wait for more. I have read all of Cee's books and the world she creates for us readers to get lost in and she's an amazing author. Such diverse circumstances in each and every book. I highly recommend this book and all her books. gimme gimme gimme more that's all I can say. thanks jamie nibarger ellis
This was an intense, complex, and intriguing story that is just the beginning of what is going to be an exciting and unique series. It's certainly a must read for everyone! I will admit that I should have read this book when it was released, but I didn't realize that this group was involved with the other series' by this amazing author. It's not necessary to read all of the other series in order to enjoy this one, but I would highly recommend that you do. I would suggest that you start with the Texas Knights MC, and then read the Texas Kings MC, Connor Brothers Construction, Rojo, Texas series, as well as this one. It would be beneficial to read all of these series in the order that they were released so that the time lines will be correct. ALL of these series are absolutely fantastic, and you will definitely fall in love with all of the characters. Get ready to binge read! I would definitely recommend this book, series, and exceptional author.
An amazing start to what is going to be an epic series.
Wrath and Val's story is an awesome journey, we meet new amazing characters and are even blessed with appearances from from our favourite mc brothers.
Val hasn't had the textbook upbringing that every child is expected to have, instead her childhood wad twisted up making her a mither at a very young age. Val has done everything she can to raise her twins put her self through school and make a life for her family . Now she finds herself basing a thesis about the Tempest family and she is about tk get a surprise of a life time.
Wrath narrowly escaped his childhood with his brother and sisters in tact. Years on he has made a life for himself and things are going good that is until a sexy as sin woman in a pencil skirt winds up in his living room dredging up the past he would rather keep buried.
Things start of rocky between the two main charicters but when a serious threat rears its ugly head the couple are forced to save one another.
Wrath and his brothers and sisters had survived their various moms and cult leader dad's demise and had made a successful transition to living in the real world. Val had escaped that world at a young age. Now she wanted to study why women are attracted to and stay in cult environment. She just needs Wrath and his family to agree to be interviewed for her doctoral thesis. Wrath doesn't want to dredge up the memories and makes a plan to seduce Val so she can't use his family for thesis. Needless to say the plan backfires as Val's past comes back to haunt her. I love Cee Bowerman's books. If you haven't read any of them, you are missing out on fabulous characters, witty conversation, and great plot lines. I can't wait for the next installment. . . .
3.5 stars. This was my first book by the author and I really enjoyed the family dynamic. I'm pleased to see this is series with more sibling stories. There were several times I felt like I missed something about the family, or I should know whoever they were discussing before I realized that the absent brother they referred to is featured in Book 12 of a different series!
This is a somewhat easy going story, even though there are mentions of tragic events. Wrath and Val have their big conflict before they are even a couple, but I loved his apology and his determination to get a date with her. The book doesn't have a lot of angst just two people and their families moving through life. Conflicts were quickly resolved.
This is the first story of the Tempest series and what an opening! Wrath and Val are a great couple with great chemistry and plenty of banter. We get to see some of what he went through in his childhood. Wrath comes off a bit headstrong to begin with but when the story continues you understand why he had some of the reactions he did. Val and her family are strong and fully capable of looking after themselves and are brilliant. I can not wait to see what comes next for the Tempests and catch up with Wrath and Val in the future! Absolutely loved this book. Well done on another great book Cee! 100% must read.
Holy wow. I absolutely loved this story and was so glad that Cee decided to write about the family of Fain's. It was sad to know what they endured as children from their father and my thoughts are just like Val's in regards to what makes someone follow these crazy cult leaders and members so blindly. It was also sad for the way Val got pregnant but she turned her life and family into such loving ladies and awesome about them all taking tae kwan do and being black belts. Yay for them. Clover is a funny and just a fantastic lady and she loves her family just as hard as Val. Loved when Marcus came to town and then our beloved Martha. Happy reading.
I found MS Bowerman while waiting to see my husband through a glass window at a rehab for covid patients.
There was a young lady there and I had just laughed out loud while reading on my kindle . She smiled at me and gave me MS Bowerman 's name and where to start. I loved Warth the family dynamics of his story is what drew me to this author and all of her works. It shows you how families can work together and squabble together but still stand with and love each other. Val was the perfect match for him. The backstory of this book makes for a intense read . I loved it and can't wait for the next one.
I'm giving this book 3 stars mainly for the beginning of the book. It seemed like once it got started, it fizzled out. There was such a buildup & I was really looking forward to reading about not only the Tempest's childhoods in more detail, but Val & Clover as well. There just wasn't any depth to the buildup.
I enjoyed Wrath & Val individually. I just didn't feel their connection. I enjoyed the daughters/sisters/siblings.
I also thought that Garrett showing up was just blah. It seemed too OTT & unrealistic for what went down.
I'm interested in this group, so I'm going to give the next book a try.
Cee Bowerman is one of my absolute favorite authors. I have loved all her books. They have just the right amount of drama and humor, but mostly they have family. In Wrath and Val's story we learn more about the Tempest family and the complexities of growing up in the insanity of a cult lead by a madman. As always, we get the promised HEA. I cannot wait til the next book and I don't care if it's tthe Tempests, the Texas Kings, Time Served, the Connors or simply Rojo, TX. Every one is an experience and a journey. Thank you for your stories.
Great beginning of a new series. I love reading more of the Tempests, hope to read more about the Collins' women and young women (both sets of twins) and i felt good about the storyline. If i had one complaint, i love Cees ability to combine old characters with each of the new books but this time it seemed like an afterthought. So if i had to critique it, there would have been more interaction with past characters like more than a cameo with Fain and Jenna. Otherwise, I'm a fan.
Wrath in the first book in The Tempests series and follows Wrath, who is Fain’s older brother, as he meets Val who is writing a thesis and wants to include Wrath’s family as survivors of a cult.
I liked Wrath and his brothers and sisters when they were introduced in ‘Fain’ so I was interested in seeing what they would be like in their own books. I found that I enjoyed reading this book and that the characters grew on me the further through I’d got.
Overall, this book was a good introduction to a new set of characters and I enjoyed reading it.
This was a story I could not stop reading until the last sentence. It was very interesting. We got a little background on their cult life in the MC books. It was good to get this book and series to get to know these intriguing men and ladies who belong to Fain’s family. HEA, no cheating, no cliffhanger. Very enjoyable way to spend my reading hours. Gonna enjoy this series!
I was so excited when I saw this come up for pre order. I was not disappointed. Oh my goodness. This book is a great start to another amazing family introduced in Cee's book 'Fain'. What an awesome start to a new series. If you have read Ms. Bowerman's book, you know she loves to do cross overs between her series. You will not be disappointed. Thank you for a wild ride that I could not put down once I started.
Wrath and Val's story is a great kickoff to a new series! We'd met Wrath briefly in Fain and Jenna's book (Texas Kings), but I truly fell for him on the first page of this book. Val is a great match for him and I enjoyed getting to know her and her family through their story. I hope Cee is planning on a lot of books in this series, because all of the siblings, children and friends really need their stories told!
Wrath and Val meet because she's writing her thesis on events that happened in his and his siblings lives. He doesn't want to discuss his past, nor does he want his siblings dealing with their past. He can't get over that there's something about Val that draws him to her.
I loved the flow, build up to this story. I can see/feel Ms. Bowerman's writing building on the suspense. I kept thinking something's coming and then it did!
I have yet to find a book by Cee Bowerman that I don't like...once I start reading her books I can't put them down...this one was no different...if you're looking for a great series you've found it...I love how each series has characters from the others....it's one big family spread out through several different series....I'm ready for the next book as soon as I finish the current one....
I would give more stars of allowed. See Boardman is on of my favorite authors. Her imagination and depth of characters keeps me coming back again and again. We first met Wrath in Fain of the Texas Kings. So if you want to get more background, start with Texas Knights MC and read in order. As good as this book is as a standalone read, it just gets better and better with the background of the other series.
For the sake of honesty I’ll admit I’m a fan, but I’m a fan that will give 0 stars if a book doesn’t live up to the author, this one however more than lives up to the previous books by Cee Bowerman. Did I want to kick Wrath in the jewels a few times, absolutely but he’s an alpha man so that stands to reason, I love how real these characters are. It’s like I can sit and have a conversation with any one of them and become life long friends.
