It is time for the annual Founder's Day Celebration in Dolphin Bay and the announcement of the Patron of the Year! The Patron of the Year honor goes to Dr. Graham Hudson, a retired doctor. Dr. Hudson is anxiously awaiting the arrival of his granddaughter!! He was planning a large party for her birthday and wants Anna's bakery to create a special birthday cake for her. Unfortunately, Dr. Hudson never gets to meet his granddaughter. He was found dead in his car by Gino. He had been shot in the head and the police suspect MJ, Anna's employee who had been recommended by Gino.

Who killed Dr. Hudson? Why was he killed? Why do the police suspect MJ? Why wasn't Anna told about MJ's past? Can Anna unravel the mystery and discover the real culprit?

Leena Clover has another winner with this latest episode of Dolphin Bay. She has very interesting characters with realistic situations. There are plenty of twist and turns to keep the reader engaged to the very end. There is a lot written about what Anna and her family are eating, but this does not detract from the story.

This is a good fun read. Anna, Cassie & Meg have 2 problems to solve. After the Founder’s Day gathering, the biggest benefactor is found dead in his car, police say suicide, they say, Not! Then it is discovered that a large amount of the money raised has “disappeared”. Anna concentrates on the money & the others on the death. All gets sorted with a few interesting happenings.

After receiving an award for his philanthropy, Dr. Graham Hudson is found dead in his car of apparent suicide. Anna's baker/cook at the café, MJ, had gotten a ride home from him, and his car was found midway between their residences. When it looks like it was a murder, not self-inflicted, Anna and family begin trying to solve what really happened. The police arrest MJ for the crime, and her only hope of getting the real killer in jail instead of her lies with Anna, Cassie, and Meg.

The book is jammed with mysterious circumstances of other strange and criminal happenings, as well as Dr. Hudson's murder. It makes for a very interesting web of confusion for Anna and readers alike. Lots of suspicious characters and multiple locations make this one of the most detailed books in the series, and probably my favorite. So much to put together and mentally organize while reading. I am looking forward to the next book in the series to answer many questions raised in past books.

Dolphin Bay is celebrating Founder's Day. The Patron of the Year is Dr. Graham Hudson. The next morning he is found dead from a shot that was fired into his head. Why was he killed? The police arrest Anna's baker, MJ. Can Anna prove that MJ is innocent?
Gino recommended MJ but he didn't tell Anna about her shady past. Why didn't he?
This is a three party mystery with plenty of suspicious characters and more than one location. A well worked out plot with twists and turns and is very well written. You won't want to put this book down.
I voluntarily received a copy of this book from the author and I'm voluntarily posting a review. My opinion is entirely my own.

Following the big Founder’s Day celebration a retired doctor is found dead. Was it suicide, or something more sinister? There are several intertwined mysteries to be solved and Anna and the Firecrackers won’t rest until they are unraveled. This is such a great series! The characters are well developed and likable, the plots are nice and twisty and the storytelling is exceptional. I enjoyed this book and am looking forward to the next one. I received a complimentary copy of this book and chose to write a voluntary, unbiased review.

Dr. Graham Hudson is found dead after being the winner of Founder's Day Parton of the Year. This is a shock to the everyone. But when the Garden Committee ladies come into the cafe and ask for Anna's help in finding the missing money from the Founder's Day collections, Anna has to ask why they want her to look into it. But there is more going on--MJ-- the fantastic find of a cook isn't as great as originally thought. She has a shady past, and lied about knowing Dr. Hudson. Can it all be sorted out? I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Awesome story and awesome reading. This story has lots and lots of twists and turns. It was very definitely hard to figure out who the killer was. I’m not telling 😂

The Best One Yet!

I hope all the fans of Leena Clover's have read the eight books of the Dolphin Bay Cozy Mystery Series in order. For those folks who haven't had the opportunity, they should also read the first seven books before they tackle this one! You really will benefit from knowing some of the history of Anna, Cassie, Meg, Gino and the beloved Firecrackers, as well as Dolphin Bay itself. There are more twists and turns than going up and back down Pike's Peak! I almost needed a scorecard to keep track. I can hardly wait until the last book (#9) comes out later in the year.

Good book

This was a great read. Definitely had good characters, well developed. I have missed some history by not having read all the pelican cove books in order. I like the author and wasn't finding much to read, so I started the book and got too into the story to put the book down. Whereas you will enjoy the book either way, if you are just starting I recommend reading the series in order

Entertaining read

I enjoy these cosy small town mysteries. Author Leena Clover twists intricate and interesting tales, with a pinch of murder, a dash of romance, and truck-load of sweet treats.

I occasionally feel annoyed with Anna's judgmental attitude, but I still like her and her family and friends.

I'm looking forward to reading the final book in this awesome series, and hope that all loose ends her tied up.

This is an example of why it is important to read a series in order! I received this book (probably on sale ) and I have so many questions! However that aside the characters were terrific and the mystery itself was great. I had no idea until the end! I just need to go back to the beginning so the relationships all make sense! It was a very fun cozy

Once again the Butlers and the Firecrackers are on the case. This time the town's philanthropist is found shot at the side of the road. His death is quickly ruled suicide but the girls don't believe it.
Why would Dr Graham kill himself when he was so eager to meet his granddaughter?

Anna is put to the test again of proving the innocence of MJ, her baker at Anna's cafe. However, MJ has a past that Anna was unaware of and isn't sure how much she can trust MJ. A must read in this series of the Dolphin Bay mysteries.
