Don't bother
I know many times heroines are coerced into loving dominant alphas and I love a story with a strong female lead where there is a lot of give and take with her and the male -- but this story...this was just plain rape. If I could give it a negative star I would.

First of all let me start off by saying I can absolutely appreciate a dark, sexy brooding alpha that takes what he wants and punishes when he needs too. I LOVE me a dark shifter romance any day but this…this was not that. And this book is definitely not for the squeamish Why you ask? Well…
This book was absolutely awful. Like I said before I’m all for a hot dark and sexy dom read, but this wasn’t that, it was straight up rape. The lack of consent given by Ava was truly horrific and Ava was sexy abused throughout the entire book, claiming she enjoyed it, when she was clearly terrified and humiliated the entire time. I felt like I was transported into the authors deepest darkest sexual fantasies and wanted it to end with every page turn.

It’s a shame too, because this book had some seriously wicked potential from the shifter pack/vampire clan war storyline side of things.

It’s a no for me
First of I love the concept of this book, it’s got the tri-factor promise- mafia, shifter and dark romance. However… I really didn’t like this book, like seriously hated it. I love dark romances so much so almost every book I read has to have a dark theme, maybe I have issues I don’t know lol, but this book wasn’t dark it was just plain cruel, at times I felt like Lawson(main male character) was just sexually abusing Ava(female lead character). Lawson spends almost half the book publicly shaming and degrading Ava - making her walk round naked, having sex with in front of his pack and beta. He shows no love towards her, he just wants to control and hurt her. In my opinion there are no events that demonstrate their love to one another they just randomly confess their love towards the end. And as for the mafia aspect, there is non.

Sara Fields has written another great story. Short but packed full of action, this will leave you wanting more as you turn the pages. Lawson meets Ava when they are trying to get rid of vampiresvand find her being held prisoner by them. She may be human but what she has to combat the vampires intrigued the wolves. Can Lawson and Ava come together and defeat the vamps? And what about the secret that Ava is keeping as to why she's doing this? So good!!

He knew from the moment he saw her that Ava Winters was his mate. Ava had some impressive weapons that Lawson needed to know more about and he had to have her and break her.
The breaking process started the next night. Lawson thought he had her right where he wanted until she snuck out of her house the next night and snuck back into the Venuti compound. Ava is determined to find some to clear her father’s name. Lawson is determined that they do this as a team but Ava is strong-willed and feisty. While breaking her, Ava found out some surprising things about herself.

Her body wanted him but her mind knew better. When she is caught and interrogated, she will fight. But will she win?

vampires. Throw in a human out for revenge and you have a fast moving compelling story that will have you looking for other books by this author. It was dark, twisted, and utterly addictive. A shifter romance with elements of none- consensual sex, dominance, trepidation, and delicious punishment scenes.

I was not sure what to expect when I first read the book description but having read a number of books by Sara Fields I was intrigued. Alpha King is the story of Ava and Lawson and it is a whole other world of steamy hot chemistry mixed with vengeance, determination, fated mates, vampires, shifters, action, violence, and of course more than a little spanking. This is a fast paced book with a solid story-line that hits all the points and main characters that are intriguing. This was a riveting and exciting story which I enjoyed.

This book starts with boom! They are on a mission to rescue one of their own. Where did she come from? She is a killing machine. No time to answer questions. No answers equal punishment. And there is a sh#t load of discipline and hot sex in this book. This is a fast action story. I love the main characters Lawson and Ava. Ava will kick some vampire ass. If you are into spanking this is the book for you. If you have any triggers please this is not a book for you. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

What a book! Now, before you get this book, you should know that it is not for the squeamish, this is an Alpha King who takes what he wants, especially when that something or someone is his mate, objections be damned. The wolf rules his mind very firmly on this, but there is also a gentle side to him and Ava is no wallflower, she knows exactly what she wants and is a strong and skilled warrior. Very hot book, I love the characters and the world that was created. Delicious!

Not in my city
This is the first book I've read by this author, but it will not be my last! The author brought all of that dark desire I love, and combined it with romance, and danger, making for a story that I just couldn't put down. This book is not going to be for everyone and it is certainly on the dark side with possible triggers, but the author took care with her writing and brought out the hidden desires of the characters slowly, enhancing the story and capturing my attention. I enjoyed the different take on the PNR world and the creativity that went into this story. This book is a fantastic read and one that I am sure I will be revisiting again, well at least until the next book comes out.

Interesting take on the shifter/fated mate genre. Lawson is the Alpha of his pack and runs into Ava, a human seeking vengeance against the vampires who killed and ruined her father's name. Ava is a skilled vampire fighter, with a secret weapon. She is also Lawson's fated mate, and she is not happy at all. The book is twisted, well paced, steamy, action filled, and more. Another great read by Sara Fields.

Ava and Lawson meet right away in this story. Both are aiming for vengeance against the Venuti Vampires who have wronged people they love. In Eva's case, the vampires caused her father's death, in Lawson's case, the vampires killed members of his pack and imprisoned his second in command. There is a ton of action and a busy storyline, just know that Ava and Lawson have a strong connection and Ava could be the key to the wolfpack's war with The Vampires. The Crescent Moon Pack have a few wars with the Venuti Vampires from beginning to end of the book and Ava has a key role in both fights. The emotional and sexual connection that Ava and Lawson have is steaming hot, irresistable and will keep you panting as you read about their pull/push relationship and thru the many disciplinary spankings Ava earns from Lawson. I cannot say much more without revealing too much and giving spoilers, so take my word for it and read this exciting, sexy story for yourself, you will enjoy every word!

Intense action right from the start really drew me in to the story. As Lawson encounters Ava, the path connecting them is not as smooth or clear-cut as it seems. I really liked all the paranormal aspects vampires and wolves shifters battling for control in New Orleans. In this struggle for control, Ava and Lawson have shared interest. While their initial forays into passion were very D/S with an alpha wolf shifter twist, interactions later in the story when they got to know each other better were more to my liking. In the end, I found this to be a satisfying read.

This is a very sexy, very steamy, action-packed read from beginning to end, literally. It starts and ends with fighting, and the middle is much of the same. It was exactly what I was expecting and I loved every second of it.
