Connecting with my dragon may kill us all.
After completing the mate bond with Egan, things should be easy, but at every turn, there’s danger hovering close by. So we did the only thing we could--run and hide.

However, there is one clear objective we must handle despite the cost--protect the thunder.

With each decision Egan and I make determines the dragon shifters’ place in our world. We won’t go down without fighting, but I’m not sure we’ll still be breathing at the end.
If you can't get enough of books by Patricia Briggs, Ilona Andrews, Kelly St. Claire, Shannon Mayer, Leia Stone, Jaymin Eve, and Linsey Hall, then you'll love this urban fantasy romance.

Reading has always been one of my favorite hobbies, even as a little girl. When I was a toddler, my parents would read stories to me over and over. I would hear them so often that I had the books memorized and could recite the story word by word.

My favorite genres are fantasy, paranormal, and contemporary romance. So of course that's what I'm inclined to write.

I have a husband, two young daughters, and a mini Australian Shepherd. I've lived in Tennessee the majority of my life and love the state.

I'm extremely addicted to caffeine and enjoy drinking coffee and lattes.

My Rating: 2 and a half stars.

Okay, the first hour or so of this book was great. After that, it felt like a switch was flipped and everything became meh. It didn't help that the heroine became rather grating to read about. The story just didn't pull me in. To be honest, I just pushed myself through this book because I only had an hour and a half left and I'm trying to read a certain number of books before the end of the year. This just wasn't for me and I don't think I'll be reading the last book in this trilogy.

I mean it’s the same review as my first one on the series.
It’s def a YA shifter romance.

I’m not a YA person but it’s very YA so the goal was achieved.

I think this is the last book in the series, I obv have to know what happened which is why I’m this far.

The plot of the book has solid potential if it wasn’t written for YA, like it could be written more adult level and I’d actually enjoy it a lot more. But the childlike parts of the book just aren’t it for me, comes off similar to wattpad fanfic. Which is fine, I’m from the wattpad era, I’m just old now.

Wow, the second book was intense.

I have to say, this is so much more adventure and action packed than the original series Hidden Mate. Jade and Egan have much better chemistry and feel fresh and organic with their relationship.

Jade feels like a relatable main character. She’s not bitchy, and she’s not bratty either. Sure, she is stubborn, but she is also smart and rational. She comes out of her own shell, and begins to learn to trust herself again. That’s what I loved so much about her. Her capacity to take risks and protect the ones she loves.

I loved exploring the dragon realm. It was so unique and felt like a world away from a world. And the battle with the harpies felt like a whole battle in a kingdom. It was so fun and unique, you felt transported away to another world. It was almost cinematic. I felt like I was watching a movie!

Wow, this series is so fun. I highly recommend it for a excellent and exciting YA read. I can’t wait to dive into the next book.

This is the second book in the Hidden King Series and picks up right where book one ended. Be prepared because we are left wanting more when the books cliffhanger comes around!
Jade is thrown into a new and crazy supernatural world as she struggles with her new inner dragon and mate bond. Egan ups his game in the protective male department with his mate, but she quickly puts him back in his place.😆
We definitely get group love and growth in this book, of course they figure out everything together as it gets thrown their way. I love this group and can't wait until the final story in the trilogy is here!

"Dragon Heir" by Jen L. Grey is an exciting continuation of The Hidden King series. After completing the mate bond with Egan, Jade faces constant danger, forcing them to run and hide. Their primary goal is to protect the thunder, with every decision impacting the dragon shifters' future.

I’m really enjoying this trilogy. The suspense is great, and while some parts were a bit predictable, I still liked it. There’s a little steam, but not too much. The cliffhangers are particularly good, leaving me eager to see what happens next.

Overall, "Dragon Heir" is a solid read with plenty of tension and intrigue, and I’m excited for the next installment.

This is book 2 in the Hidden king Series and begins right where book 1, Dragon Mate left off. The gang continues to deal with Vera and her hatred for the dragons. The group has to go into hiding due to the threats tot he Thunder. Jade and Egan continue to explore their new found mating and are finding ways to help Jade discover her dragon.

This book still leaves some questions unanswered from book 1 that I was hoping to find out. I feel like there should be some connection with her fathers death and her aunts hatred of Jade. Maybe i'm looking into something that isn't there but it just feels off. This story is still very fast paced and i finished in a day. I am still enjoying the story and the characters. I look forward to reading book 3 and I hope I get some answers to some of my questions questions. I give this book 4 stars. Book 3, Dragon Queen comes out Oct 14, 2021.

Whew!

And the hits just keep on coming! At least there’s steam and lots of camaraderie in between. The fake dragon king needs his comeuppance right next to his witch partner. Sire hope they get what’s coming to them.

I read well written young adults, or new adults (whatever) books, but must admit that this is a bit too teenager-ish for me. I'll complete the trilogy, but this is definitely not a re-read or keeper for me.

My favorite dragon shifter story continues in Dragon Heir, the second book in the Hidden King series. Egan, Jade, and the gang have found themselves in a tough spot with a witch hellbent on revenge and more than capable of causing a whole lot of problems. Add in dragon fae, complicated dragon shifter history, family secrets, new supernaturals, and annoying ex and you get a pretty great read.

The story picks up where everything left off in Dragon Mate, with Jade being threatened by Ollie, the witch causing problems and Egan pissed. Things obviously work out but their troubles are far from over, the reason behind the witch's attack is revealed and it's horrifying, the chick is evil with a capital e and totally insane and the worst part is she knows what she's doing, she's able to accomplish most of her goals. Jade is handling things incredibly well for a human-turned dragon shifter, it must be the mating bond. While she is new to the supernatural world and doesn't know much about it, Jade isn't running anymore, she wants to stand side-by-side with Egan. While Egan is totally in love and has now become one of those super overprotective mates but he is still the sweet-pie that I love from Sadie's series, Wolf Born. He's still a gentleman and thoughtful but he is way overprotective of Jade and she just isn't having it.

One of my favorite things about the first book was how much everyone from the Wolf Born series was involved in Egan's story and they are still involved. The gang is very protective of the couple, supporting them with their decisions, helping out when they can and of course there's the banter. This group is bonded so tightly that nothing can break it and they are so comfortable with each other, they drag Jade right into everything and the banter in the group is just as strong as it has ever been I really do love that the gang is all together. However, this time it isn't just them a few new characters join the story. One being Egan's ex, Mindy, who is a total skank. You know the type, mean, underhanded, and in general not that great of a person. Then there is Draco who is a mystery but I like him and wouldn't mind knowing more about him.

Dragon Heir delves more into Egan's culture, his people's history when it came to the fae, and what happened in the fae world. Not to mention a little personal history about his family and some secrets they have been keeping, have come out and puts a whole new perspective of the events that have been happening to them lately. This plot twist moves the story forward nicely but I don't quite know how the story is gonna end in this trilogy but I'm here for it. Dragon Queen is the final book in this trilogy and while I'm looking forward to Jade and Egan getting their happy ending I hope a few other questions are answered.

‘Dragon Heir’ is book Two in Jen L. Grey’s Hidden King series. This series is a connective series to The Wolf Born Trilogy. This series follows Egan and Jade, it’s recommended that TWBT be read prior to get to know the group of characters and the history between them better, although not necessary. Also be prepared for a cliffhanger that is going to have you pulling out your hair.

Picking up right from where Dragon Mate ended with Jade bleeding and being held hostage by her roommate and mad woman Vera and old manager Ollie. Jade must stare hopelessly into her mates Dragon eyes, whist Egan struggles to get to her.

With Vera now after Egan’s thunder, Egan, Jade and the gang leave the campus once again to figure out how to stop this latest attack they find themselves dealing with. They head to Sadie & Donovan’s pack to prepare and figure out their next move.

I loved this book as we got to see more of Egan’s culture, history and family. Many secrets and revelations are revealed that even Egan didn’t know about. So hold on to you hats cause you in for one heck of a journey.

The pack are a strong and protective group, though this time it’s Egan that finds himself being hunted and attacked the wolves and vampires band together to help their fellow pack member out regardless of the risks.

Egan continues to be the perfect gentleman, dragon, friend, mate and overall great guy. Yes he may at times be over protective, but wouldn’t you be if your mate has been in the supernatural world for all of five minutes and has been stalked, kidnapped and injured.

I still found Jade at times to be annoying and naive. But she is has potential and I can see the small growth with her as she starts to find her way through being in a world she knew nothing about, becoming a dragon, being mated, hunted, attacked and threatened because the fates chose her to be the mate of a dragon.

Two characters are introduced, one I absolutely love, he is mysterious, a dragon, and a warrior, the other is a total biatch that needs a good smack down.

Another great read from this author. I love the suspense that just pours off the pages, that has your heart pumping and devouring each and every word.

⭐⭐⭐⭐/5

“In my mind, there is, and will only ever be you.” His words were a promise. “You hold my heart captive, and I love that you do.”

WARNING!!! This is book 2 in The Hidden King trilogy, you will need to have read book 1(Dragon Mate) in order to understand this one. This book does end on a cliffhanger.

Connecting with her dragon should have been a great thing, but it may be the one thing that kills them all. Completing her mate's bond with Egan was supposed to be easy, but no matter where they go, danger follows them around every corner. So, they do the only thing they can...they run. With only one goal...protect the thunder. No matter what, they must keep the dragons safe, and fight for their place in the supernatural world. They won’t go down without a fight, but some may not make it out on the other side of this upcoming war.

This had been my motto growing up: Suck it up and survive.

Man was this book a rollercoaster of events. In Dragon Heir, we follow Egan, Jade, and the “gang” as they fight yet another war side by side. Jade went through a serious character growth “glow up” in this book. She went from being a shy, shut off girl with a broken past, to being a kickass, doesn’t take shit from anyone heroine. I stand by what I said in my review on book 1, that Egan is by far my favorite of Jen’s book boys. He is kind, gentlemanly, protective, and all around adorable. I think, again, the only thing I wish this book had was some of Egans POV. But, other than that this was a great Book 2, and I look forward to reading the finish to Egan and Jade's story in book 3.

I received this as a free ARC copy via the author in exchange for an honest review.

⅘ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

#DragonHeir starts immediately where #DragonMate ended without any time having passen, which considering I immediately picked up book 2 after the 1st ended in such a #cliffhanger was great! Some things are getting explained briefly again, which makes for a nice refresher, but doesn’t feel like info dumping.

Book 2 was much more action packed than book 1, since all the introductions are behind us now and it is incredibly fast paced. I flew through the pages and if I had had the time, I probably would’ve read this book in a single sitting! (But unfortunately I had to work.😂)

I love seeing all the characters in the friend group work together (there’s still lots of banter) and I also love seeing Egan and Jade interact with each other - especially when it comes to the jealousy aspect, though I must say Jade has more typical alphahole behaviour than Egan, which is very amusing.😂 There is one specific person causing that behaviour and let me tell you I don’t like that person AT ALL.

There are more revelations, that I sort of predicted already, but were really cool nonetheless and again it ended on a cliffhanger, so I started the finale in the trilogy already.😂 I cannot wait to see how their story will end!🤩

There is only one thing for me to criticise: It felt like certain information was just there and it felt like I should’ve known this info before, however I didn’t remember. So either, I missed these points or they weren’t really mentioned in book 1. Either way, it created a little confusion on my part and that’s why book 2 gets half a star less than book 1.🙈

Action, Adventure, and Sex!!

I’m loving this series as much as the wolf shifter series! I really want to go read the next book!! Here’s a quick re-cap and my two cents.

Quick Re-cap:

Jade and Egan are being sought by the witch who escaped them after stealing Jade. They try to have another witch erase the tracking spell on Jade, but they aren’t quite sure if that’s what the witch does. Jade learns how to shift and meets Egan’s thunder. The war begins with Vera.

My two cents:

I really want to leave y’all hanging and go read the next book! I really hate/love that the author leaves us with cliff hangers! I never want to read a story that isn’t finished. 😂

This story is great, but I found myself wondering why they weren’t reaching out to Sadie and team during the final battle. The Fae can teleport. I can’t believe Sadie wouldn’t have tried to do everything in her power to help them more if she knew what was happening. This is the reason I’m giving this book 4 stars.

There is enough sex without being too much. Nice balance! Enjoyable sex scenes 😉

I hope that’s enough guys, because I’m itching to start the next book! Happy reading y’all!

Vera is a lot more than she pretended to be, much more than Jade's roommate, and we see how far the lies push the dragons. However, it's when she and Egan go into hiding that we find out who Jade really is. Protecting Egan's thunder is paramount to the survival of the species. It's bad enough they'd been driven into hiding to prevent their extinction, but when they find out why they're being sought now, they discover the vendetta is coming for them in ways they never could have predicted.

Jade can be a bit much to handle, but I think a lot of that comes from the way she's been cut off from society and relishing her newfound freedom. I love the way the author turns things around and makes the bad guys people we really want to hate. The cliffhanger left me wanting to read the next chapter in the story.

Twisted

The sequel in The Hidden King saga continues and let me tell you, it doesn’t disappoint.
I was hooked listening to the audiobook. The narrator, Amanda Dolan does a wonderful performance portraying all of the characters. The voice she uses for the crazy witch is spot on as well.
The plot is fantastic and we are learning a bit about Egan’s background. I’m so happy that Egan continues to be a gentleman and stands up for Jade. The witch is so twisted that I’m not sure that Jade or Egan can talk themselves out of what she has in store for them.
If you love all things urban fantasy romance and dragons then definitely check this serious out. Do yourself a favor and go ahead and download the entire series. Trust me. You’ll want to have them handy.

I enjoyed reading this trilogy because it was fun and quick. But it wasn’t a series to leave you hooked or needing more after you’re done. Fun and straightforward.
After reading the first trilogy in this series, I was excited about Egan’s story. Egan was one of my favorite characters from the Hidden Mate trilogy. He deserved a great story. But I don’t think he got it. The Dragon trilogy felt rushed. Like things were missing. And I wished we had Egans point of view.
There are definitely good parts of this, and author is a good writer. Just sometimes feels dramatic rather than developed as writing. Little more YA with lots of sex scenes that aren’t distinct or imaginative to be set apart from a million others.

>Book Review - Dragon Heir

>I am an independent reviewer. This book is the 2nd in the Hidden King series and ends in a cliffhanger. Jade and Egan are enjoying their status as fated mates. Jade is a tad bit insecure, but Egan is the sweetest character ever. I love the secondary characters and how they support Jade and Egan. The gang discovers what has been going on with the murders. A new character, Egan’s ex, makes an appearance and causes Jade no end of jealousy and doubt.

>The descriptions of the inner dragon were really vivid, as were those of flying. This book is appropriate for an adult audience. I am giving this book 4 stars. I love the banter between the friends: it makes the story that much more realistic.

Jade, Egan, and the rest are back and are more danger than ever. Vera is out to get to Egan's thunder, and they have to do everything they can to stop it, but with people trying to come between them and trying to keep Jade from connecting with dragon will the be ready for what's to come? This book gives you a roller-coaster ride of action, emotions, twist, turns, and a huge secret that you won't expect. It will blow your mind and keep you glued to your seat and your kindle wanting to know more. The more books this author writes the better she gets, even with the cliffhangers that I'm coming to love. I so can't wait to read what she has next cause it's gonna be epic.

Good book, but suffered from "middle-book syndrome" at times. While all the sub-plots factor in to the overarching one of Vera's revenge, I'm left a bit confused. The last few chapters seemed a bit chaotic in introducing characters (Trixie) and revealing motives (Mindy and Vera), but also left a few up in the air (Ollie and Trixie).

The two big reveals at the end were predictable, but interesting. Not going to lie, they gave Vera a dark backstory!

Overall, quick read that seems to set the stage for the final book. Look forward to reading that in just a couple weeks! I do love that she pumps these out so fast, so you don't have a long wait between books.

This book picks up right where the first left off and doesn't disappoint.

This book offers more insight into the magical supernatural world and we finally get to go there.

I enjoy seeing the relationship evolve between Egan and Jade, the way they find their rhythm and act in sync. I love the way Jade fights to be a part of the fight, she doesn't like be coddled, she knows she is strong and asserts it.

I loved watching Jade discover her dragon and being a force to be reckoned with Egan by her side. And the revelation of who the royal family is just makes me so glad that I have book 3 to start straight away!

Okay so I do not have any self respect whatsoever.

I frigging read the next one and it was surprisingly… DUMB as well.

Oh boy. Shocker.

Now they are mated and there is this evil witch that wants to kill all dragons, and oh! They are the royal family… yeah

I read it in like 3 hours so it was quick but oh my god so dumb.

The dialogs the characters… everything just feels forced, you know??

I don’t know if I’ll be reading the last book… maybe and only maybe if I need to read something fast and completely forget how dumb the books are (yeah, that was actually what happened with this book… I just completely forgot everything about it and read it because it was still in my library lol)

2🌶️

Gobbled this one up practically in one sitting. Shorter book of the series.

We got to get more background on the earth dragons and meet Egan’s parents and thunder. There was lots of dragon action happening in this book and back stabbing (bitch Mindy!)

I actually loved the concept that Egan had no clue who his bloodline was. While easy as a reader to predict, the fact that the main character himself didn’t know was something new for once.

Still had spice in this book. Again, wish it went more into detail/last longer than a couple paragraphs.

So far, a good, fast-paced, found family series!

Dragon Heir is the second book in the Hidden King Trilogy and continues the tale of Egan, Jade and their friends' fight for survival. This book takes off where Dragon Mate left off so its a must to read this series in order. Read to find out what it will take for Egan and Jade to protect the thunder, their friends and their own lives. Expect suspense, action, betrayal, jealousy, heated chemistry, villains you won't see coming and the sometimes laugh out loud shenanigans Jade, Egan and the crew get into.

Yes, it's Awesome!!

So, Jade and Egan continue to find themselves in struggle after struggle. So much so that it's a wonder how they manage to get their afternoon delight and midnight snacks in there. 😏
Also, I HATE Mindy!!! I hope she dies soon or at least before the end of the next book!! What a f*cking b*tich!
Oh, and that cliffhanger there at the end - was brilliant!!! Turn of events I did not see coming!!! Can't wait to start reading the next book!
Thank you Jen L. Grey and team for this amazing book!
