Galaxy's Edge, Part III contains Sword of the Legion through to the end of Prisoners of Darkness.
Daring heroics, sacrifice, and courage come together as the Legion attempts to contain the fire sparked at the Battle of Tarrago. But the galaxy is spiraling into all-out war.
Captain Chhun's Dark Ops squad is reunited with Wraith. When their mission to deny Goth Sulluss the shipyards he so eagerly desires goes awry, Chhun and Wraith must find a way to stop the Black Fleet's advance - even if it costs them their lives.
Meanwhile, an old friend from Nether Ops executes a covert operation that will turn the focus of the Last War of the Republic in a terrible new direction.
Following Goth Sullus's ruthless onslaughts against the Republic, a desperate House of Reason searches for scapegoats - and finds one, deserving or not, in Commander Ellek Owens. His sentence is cruel, unjust - and final. Unless Victory Squad has anything to say about it.
In the Umnar system, the soulless menace known as the Cybar seeks to break Prisma Maydoon - and to set the stage for the total annihilation of not only the Republic, but all life in the galaxy.
A satisfying and suspenseful continuation and relentless storytelling with emotional depth
Sword of the Legion delivers answers to many lingering questions from previous installments, making it a rewarding read for long-time fans of the series. The pacing strikes an excellent balance between action-packed sequences and meaningful character dialogue and development.
What truly stands out in this book is how invested I’ve become in these characters. Every time they find themselves in danger, I feel genuine unease, desperately hoping they pull through. This emotional connection is a testament to the strong writing and immersive storytelling. The blend of tension, resolution, and camaraderie makes this a standout entry in the Galaxy’s Edge saga.
Prisoners of Darkness continues to deliver answers to the questions that have been building throughout the series, all while weaving a compelling and high-stakes narrative. The section in the mines stands out as particularly gripping, blending tension and atmosphere with Owen’s captivating journey.
Nick Cole and Jason Anspach have an incredible talent for creating characters that feel real and deeply human. They make you fall in love with these characters, only to keep you on edge, worrying about their fates with every turn of the page. Their approach is relentless, yet it never feels unwarranted—each trial the characters face adds weight and stakes to the story.
This writer duo has succeeded in keeping a thrilling saga going, spanning multiple books without me loosing interest whatsoever. That speaks to the quality of their writing.
I'm listening to this series in audiobook format, and I'm listening in the order as recommended by the authors "for maximum suspense and surprise". And maximum it is! Btw on their website (galaxysedge dot us) you can find this reading order, but also the chronological reading order (i.e. the actual timeline of events in the long history of this story universe). The chronological reading order however is not the order in which the books were written, nor is it the recommended reading order.
If the writers keep this up, I think this series may earn a shared first place with Star Wars in my personal fandoms. Something I thought would never be possible. And Captain Keel/Wraith may well become my favorite Han Solo-esque action hero of all time.
Enough said. Excuse me while I'm off to listen to the next part in this series!
This is the second time I’ve read this book. The first time I listened to the Audible. The narrator is one of my favorites, R. C. Bray. I love this series. I should say I’m addicted to this series. All the characters are well-defined.
Anspach and Cole have designed a complex galaxy with some real characters. War and corruption cause havoc in this action-packed story with unique twists and turns.
The storyline continues to come together, and it's getting a bit exciting. The battle for the universe is on with the republic vs the empire (still sounds a little familiar - but the Star Wars similarities are fewer in this one). An interesting turn of events with AI and the navigator Ravi, Prisma may be a lot more than a little girl looking for revenge, and Wraith joins up with his past squad - a very busy story, but it flowed well and kept me very engaged.
I was happy to see some of the many storylines coming together in this installment. I enjoy the nonstop action I've come to expect from this series, but now that I'm 100% invested in Victory squad, I get more nervous for them in the dire situations. Excellent character development and the perfect amount of unanswered questions to keep readers hooked!
3.7/5 It's good to be with Victory again. While there were some rather boring departures from their storyline, this was overall an enjoyable addition to the series.
This is what an ending to an arc should look like. It was worth all the time and few coins spent to enjoy this oddesy through space. Bravo to the authors. I'm sure that I will revisit their universe again. KTF baby!
