Sawbones

*This is a Godless exclusive*

Edward Smalls got the surname Sawbones by cutting people up. For a bloke called Robert, who is Eastern European. Now, small time dope pusher Alfred Leonard wants Edward to star in a snuff film. With additional fuckery.

And everyone knows that Edward will turn his hand to most things if the price is right.

But Edward is not the luckiest guy on earth, and everything might just go disgustingly wrong.

Seven brothers. Seven Smalls. Graphic content. Consider this a trigger warning for just about everything.

DAS A GOOD ONE, INNIT!
I've read other things from Ash before and am a fan. This one was a shit-ton of fun. Who doesn't love a good snuff?

This is a good place to start, if you haven't picked anything up from this author yet.

I’m already loving this series! I read this and the second book, Snuff, back-to-back in one sitting. The dark humor is amazing, the story is fun, and Edward is an enjoyable character. This entire series is going to be an instant purchase going forward.

I’ve been meaning to read one of Ash’s book/stories for what seems like an eternity…

Now, the question I pose to myself is what the fuck have I been waiting for?

Loved this short and plan to snack on this Godless exclusive series in between breathers between my other reading, writing and you know life!

Now I ask you … what the heck are you waiting for? Go forth and enjoy the unfiltered Ash Ericmore!

Highly recommend for extreme horror lovers.

I wanted a quick listen and I remembered how much I enjoyed the 7 Smalls. This is the first brother in the book. This got me through my big mug of coffee at work keeping me extremely entertained while reading and responding to emails. This is a quick, down and dirty story filled with snuff, kidnapping, and death. Perfect for that 8 am meeting you didn't bother to turn your camera on. It is also perfect for letting you know what you have in store for the remainder of the Small Brothers.

This was my first time reading Ash Ericmore and I'd say I'm in good hands. This was the right combination of macabre with humor. This series is off to a good start, and I jumped right into part 2 as soon as I was finished.

Now THIS, my sweet-sweet friends, is one brutal bastard of a two-fisted tale. A continuing saga revolving around a family of fucking head cases? Count me in.

Sawbones is quite the intro to the Smalls family. Edward takes on a job that Leonard offers him in a snuff film. He finds "the one" and takes her back to his place to start filming. Then an unexpected guest arrives and things really heat up! Literally! I can't wait to meet the rest of the family!

Sawbones introduces the reader to Edward Smalls, one of seven siblings in the Smalls family, and it is one hell of an introduction.
A meeting with Alfred Leonard, a drug dealer and the criminal equivalent of middle-management, takes an unexpected turn as Edward is asked if he'd be willing to supply a snuff film for some new European business partners. No stranger to killing, Edward agrees to the strange proposition.. He already makes a living by supplying harvested organs on the black market, earning him the nickname Sawbones. How hard can it be to make a video incorporating sex and death?
Locating a suitable victim and getting her back to his dungeon workspace turns out to be the simple part. Everything else seems to be working against him, from the oppressive heat to unwanted visitors. Edward learns the hard way that film sets are a perpetual state of barely organized chaos, and that the people behind-the-scenes bankrolling the production often seem not to share the same creative vision as the director.
Edward Smalls is a strangely likeable character, considering how he earns his living. Ericmore successfully fleshes out a human monster who seems uncomfortably relatable and awkwardly amusing. It'll be interesting to meet the other members of the Smalls family as the series continues. If this first installment is a solid basis of what to expect, there's no way anyone could come out of this series feeling disappointed. The story reads like the novelization of a film written as a collaboration between Tarantino, Ritchie, and Roth.

I've just finished all three of these books in one sitting!!! At first I was a bit unsure of the short, sharp sentences in Ash's writing..but I quickly got used to them and they are what made these 3 books such a fast paced, action packed joy to read!
Brutal, gory, fun filled stories!! I absolutely loved them and can't wait for more!!
(The babies in book 3 were hilarious!! 😉😂)

This was a quick but dang good read. I read this one in one sitting because it was so good. Like his other books it goes straight into it as soon as the book starts and it doesn't let up. I'm definitely looking forward to the rest of the series to see what happens next.

I would’ve rated this higher if it wasn’t for the style of writing. It’s like the author just described what was happening as it was happening and the sentences were structured poorly and not really in a story format? It was just really strange and took me out of the actual story itself.

This is my first from Ash Ericmore and certainly won’t be the last. Sawbones is an excellent little tale, amusing and brutal in equal measure. Looking forward to meeting more of the Smalls family very soon.

My review on Godless says I'm wishing for eight books in this series - I thought Edward, (not Eddie), had seven brothers, but no - there are seven total Smalls brothers. I know my mistake now, and am obsessing over it being posted over there because I can't edit it.
I loved this, and I'm already drooling for the next book, (and hopefully a series of seven!). It's everything you've come to count on from the author, inventive death scenes, dark black humor, and a story you won't forget.
I know horror comedy is already a sub-genre, but Ash Ericmore gets a whole new one all to himself on B³ - Extreme Horror Comedy . The blackest of black, and this book had it starting on page one. My favorite bit it is so dry that [insert martini joke here]. 🤣 I can't wait till we get to sit in on a Smalls family gathering, or outing, because all of the brothers together in one room is going to be fun!
The Smalls saga continues on August 10th! Yay!

The first part of a series that I can’t wait to keep up with.

So many books I’ve still to read in his enormous back catalogue; but I’m gane!

The first story in Ashmore’s collection starts with Edward Smalls discussing a proposition from Alfred Leonard. His family is the biggest Dope Dealer known to Birchingate looking to break out into Europe. But the plan is to expand into something far more twisted than drugs, as snuff films are put on the menu, and Edward is made the star. Holy shit, I mean the detail and the events leading up to Edwards 'performance. Then the kidnapping and the planning, he picks his victim even when things appear to be going wrong. Edward manages to find a way of making the situation work to his advantage. I mean, this is a man who stops at nothing to get what he wants. I mean, I have to admit he gets bloody creative to remind me of the story were those guys try to rob the home of America’s most notorious gay sexual predator. The scene involving the chainsaw oil had me in the sticks, which, let's face it, says a lot about me as a person. My God, I can't wait to get stuck into part 2 and see what Edward has in store for me.

I’m actually not too sure about anything I’ve just read… I feel like I was a little uncomfortable at first but then it just kinda turned into a dumpster fire … literally and maybe it was funny ??? I’m honestly not sure. I mean it took me maybe 30 minutes but like…

I truly don’t know…. But still gets a 3.75 cause I just kept reading.

Dark, dark, and more dark. I enjoyed this short novel. It takes something that is taboo, snuff films, and puts it in a new perspective for the reader.
