After being forced to share their secret with Fumi, Azusa’s overprotective childhood friend, the body-switching pair vows never to tell another soul of their predicament…until fellow P4U member Haru kisses Chika, while Azusa is in his body! Although Haru appears to be a willing ally when all is revealed, he may just be harboring an ulterior motive—and a secret— beneath his charming smile. Armed with her suspicions and control of Chika’s body, Azusa is ready to do whatever it takes to protect her precious idol!
It kinda bothers me that Haru kissed Chika (Asuza) without his consent as he’s supposed to be his bff. And that Asuza is repulsed by the idea of two guys kissing too (bit homophobic, eh?).
I think the fact that they switch bodies is due to their romantic feelings towards each other, but since the pace is rather slow, I don’t know if they’ll ever get together.
Like I previously said, this is a romcom with absurd scenes so I try not to judge it too harshly.
One scene in the middle had me questioning my sanity but still. I enjoy this manga way too much for my own good lol. Things are finally moving in the romance department and I’m excited. They are super cute together <3 (Who the hell is that new character now? *facepalm*)
Hmm. I like the addition of Haru since he brings a nice dynamic to mesh with the main characters, but I have to wonder what the “problem” is that’s causing Azusa and Chika to switch...
(And can I just say how weird it was to read the afterword from Junko about quarantine as of April 2020 in Japan? I am curious how other manga-ka handled it...)
Stuck in Chikashi’s body for the longest time yet, Azuza finds herself in a new predicament: bathing with Chikashi’s P4U bandmates only to faint. She wakes up to find the lead of P4U, Haru, kissing her in Chikashi’s body! Unable to figure out what to do with the latest turn of events, Azusa tries to avoid him as much as possible, but how long can she manage it without revealing the truth of her and Chikashi’s predicament?
I have loved this series since I first started and was excited to see Azuza’s character development as she started to see Chikashi as more than just her idol. Sadly, she reverted a bit back to how she was in the first volume. I was a little sad about that, but I do think it worked well for several of the hilarious moments I saw throughout this volume.
That said, I do think it was interesting to get to know Haru more. We’ve been seeing the other members of P4U in bits here and there, so it was interesting to get to know Haru as well as learn about his long-time connection to Chikashi. Plus, there’s his crush on Chikashi and the revelation about why Azuza and Chikashi have continued to swap bodies. I’m really interested in learning what that’s about because as of right now, Haru is the only one who knows.
While this volume was hilarious, it wasn’t as good as the previous volumes. I hope to see more character development without anyone taking significant steps backward in future volumes.
I actually liked this volume a lot better than the last one, I just had to accept this story's goofy of-the-wall-ness and go with it. 🤷♀️ It was pretty sweet this time.
Azusa and Chikashi are still body-swapped, but there’s a new wrinkle as Chikashi’s band mate, Haru, steals a kiss from Azusa-as-Chikashi. Now it’s crazy-for-him versus crazy-as-him as the two butt heads, but it just might show Chikashi what he really wants out of life.
Well, that sounds a lot more exciting than it actually is. I feel like Azusa’s lunatic fan persona got tamped down a little in volume 2 and we were all better for it. It rebounds with a vengeance and, while it ultimately benefits Chikashi, it’s an extreme I don’t care for.
Haru adds a really fun dynamic - his stolen kiss aside, he really cares about Chikashi and his attempts to come between our leads are pretty good. I like that he makes a much better rival than most shojo rivals, nice touch there.
I just wish this had been funnier - the couple jokes that really land are hilarious. Chikashi-as-Azusa gets the most comically understated ‘whoa’, and the reaction of the students upon seeing another celebrity in their midst is choice. More of that would have been lovely.
Given the introduction of yet another new character at the end of the book, and knowing this next volume is the last, this whole thing feels like an idea that Junko either couldn’t flesh out enough or merely lost interest in. It just doesn’t resonate like it could.
Yeah, I just don’t have a ton to say here. This book simply doesn’t have quite the spark of the second volume. There was a lot that this latest twist could have offered but I don’t feel like it did, nor am I confident it will.
I really enjoyed this volume of Star-Crossed!! I do still wish we were getting a couple more volumes in this series just so it didn't feel just a little bit rushed but given we only have one more volume left I thought the mangaka gave the characters in this volume a lot of character development.
*Original Review 11/8/2021* Rating: 3* God Azusa needs to CHILL. I get her outlandish behavior is part of the humor, but oh my god this was too much for me to handle. I still don’t get the why they switch thing? Haru knows the answer now though so maybe that’ll be revealed to us soon. So sad about the lack of Kiss Him Not Me bonus content, but I think there was too much happening in the main story for that. Hopefully in the next one.
This volume was a good volume, I enjoyed it, didn’t expect the friend to have a crush on Chika, didn’t think the manga would go that way, but this trope does have that. I honestly was expecting chika to switch with his friend, but that didn’t happen. This trope of them swirling bodies reminds me of Yamada-kin and the seven witches, and I really did like that series at that start, though I never finished it. Overall I really liked this volume, I want to know what god said to it think his name is Haru, like there’s one more volume, tell me the deets. Also I kind of want the two main characters to get together, though u can kind of tell they don’t really have all that much chemistry together. But you can tell they’re sort of liking each other. And that’s fun for us all.

I have a sneaking suspicion that the trigger for the transformation is when Chika and Azu’s heart beats are racing in sync. But I wonder why Haru keeps saying “they’re safe for now” and things like that. Does it truly relate to their wellbeing? Or is he speaking from the perspective of a fellow Chika stan?
Fun shenanigans ensue once more in this volume as another player takes the stage..! It wasn’t very fair for Fumi to have all the spotlight as the best friend with unrequited love. So, now Chika has one of those too! History just keeps on repeating itself, doesn’t it..?
When the summary says this is an addictive shojo sendup of idol fandom, they weren’t exaggerating. This manga is too fun and too funny to not be addicting.
Was ich großartig finde!
Character development? Hopes and dreams? This volume has both, and we love to see it
Junko's pacing is slower than most manga-ka, especially in the shoji genre. But this volume shows that we're finally rounding the corner from cringe into some solid territory! Characters express motivation outside of their comedic archetype, and the character roster feels more complete. Plus, we see the first indications of a real friendship developing between our protagonists.
If this series is anything like "Kiss Him, Not Me," the story will continue to be more of a slow burn. But that's okay! Just keep that in mind if this is your first foray into a Junko series 💕
This volume was loads funnier than the previous two! The scenes between Haru and Azusa were pure gold haha. I also really appreciated the scenes that helped ground our two leads a bit more, they felt a lot more human to me, and that's so important. It's really sweet that Chika and Azusa seem to have become real friends along the way, helping and depending on each other at times. I can't wait to see how this bizarre series will end. Hopefully it's super good!!
Btw, am I the only one who thinks Haru is so charming, and more attractive than our actual lead? Probably lolol.
This series is only 4 books total, so it's super short. Which is a plus if you don't want to commit to a super long running series. I was a little confused by some of the things happening, but that's probably just me not paying enough attention while reading. It was a funny, fluffy read, and great if you're looking for something that isn't too intense.
I was hoping for a little bit more as far as the romance goes, but it was still an enjoyable read.
This volume was more of the same but the BL plot twist was a neat angle. I didn't expect that. We get another character that is let in on the secret and someone learns details from God but the reader is left out in the dark. This volume had more laughs and story beats than the last volume. I am curious to see how it ends with the next volume.
Hehehehehehee 🤭🤭🤭🤭 this volume had me Kicking my feet. I adore that they are rivals but also the same person pretty much. This volume had so much heart and soul 🥰❤️ I can’t believe it’s almost over 😭
The girl is so shameless and the guy has a personality of someone who’s lived 1000 years😭 I cant put my finger on what his personality is like it’s just so idkkkkkk
