The author is masterful, Merci beaucoup

Respectful yet relentless reconstruction of a 90-year-old murder mystery, with the rock solid authority of one who has the skills to find out the truth of the matter by interviewing, researching and imagining all the possibilities. Mark John McGuire, you need to meet my “Betty”. Regilia Rosemary Anderson LaPorte, born 12-21-1899, Brooklyn, NY. I hope I can find her, her name was her mother’s formula for treating syphilis. And they say her dad was murdered in its theft. Hoping to publish one day.

Lovely historical account

I came to this book by way of Maguire's YouTube channel. I watched this brief video essay to introduce this case and wanted to know more. Not only are all of the facts and statements laid out and interpreted logically by Maguire, but his own insight into the emotional habits of people and suggestions about why people do the things they do make his work both in video format and written word worth your time. Those insights are by far my favorite part of this book and ring absolutely true in my own opinion. The information about the extended offspring of those involved was especially interesting as well as I always do wonder what happens after the furor dies down.

enjoyed the youtube series

Like the videos there is a lot of repetition but still an amazing story. Could have been condensed. Rambles around too much.

Purchased the book after viewing MJM YouTube videos. I enjoy both and would love to read more about the featured YouTube murders.
