Hurricane Madison is sliding over Aberdeen, Georgia like a conquering tide, forcing Cooper Hurst and his family into the basement. As the family huddles together, unusual sounds alert them to an intruder upstairs. When Cooper's dad goes to investigate but doesn't return, Cooper is thrust into the role of protector. But that might be more than he can handle. The sounds coming from upstairs aren't the only things the Hurst family has to worry about. The hurricane has brought something terrifying to Aberdeen - a strange debris that seems to ride the storm.
Will Cooper and his family survive hurricane Madison and the Erasure?
Quick and creepy. Even though it took nearly no time to listen to, I'm not sure I'd recommend it. I didn't get the point and it wasn't the typical pleasant kind of disturbing, just...disturbing. Anyway, grateful it was as quick as it was - not sure I'd have stuck around to listen to too much more.
"Erasure" is a fun, quick, intense read at only twenty-five pages. Even though it was such a short story, it quickly caught my attention and kept me thoroughly intrigued until the very end.
Cooper Hurst and his family are about to fight against Hurricane Madison ripping through their town of Aberdeen, Georgia. They are hunkered down in their basement, but when a strange noise is heard upstairs, Cooper's dad heads up to see what is happening. When he does not return, Cooper decides to investigate and discovers the hurricane is so much more than a simple hurricane. There is a darkness not of Earth behind the clouds. Cooper and his family members are now in grave danger and they must fight against the darkness.
If you enjoy stories with a twist and an apocalyptic feel, you will definitely enjoy "Erasure".
Another one picked from the audible plus library for short length. I should've guessed this one would be more than a hurricane survivor story. What starts off as a family huddling down in the basement waiting for the worst storm in Georgia to pass, turns into the appearance of strange monsters. It was very descriptive and atmospheric. The monsters were a surprise. An interesting but creepy story. I suppose better in the daylight than before bed.

This is absolutely a competently written disaster-come-alien horror story that is performed well. It does what it says on the tin and for something in the Audible Included library that's pretty awesome. I genuinely love just how many stories the Original programme is getting produced.
Being more critical, it's not original, which absolutely isn't a problem, but when you are covering well trod ground doing so with aplomb and/ or your own added layer is necessary to elevate it. Yes, it's a heightening of the horrors of hurricanes and natural disasters, but it doesn’t really feel like it is even exploring and exposing those fears. Searching for more meaning actually raises some questions about the descriptions of the extra terrestrials and the name of the story, which could speak to a fear of the 'other' and hegemonic prejudice -- to be clear, I'm not leveling this as an accusation, but rather to point out that trying to parse a message or meaning is not fruitful.
Honestly, I only bother to overthink and pick at works that show promise, so I'm not trying to be a colossal downer, and I know that, while it is a general principle and something I really need to connect with a story, there doesn't have to be an added layer or more to it. I simply think short stories, horror, sci-fi, etc. all are far more interesting while exploring or extrapolating something meaningful. I absolutely accept that sometimes they are also just a snapshot of action and experience.
( Format : Audiobook ) "We're in the Eye." Remarkable how well the author has created such an atmospheric tension in so short a story (only 40+minutes) with mundane happenings and excellently read by Jacob York. A great daytime short horror thriller filler. Download for free through Audible Plus.
Fantastic monster horror short story. Did exactly what it needed and to me stylistically felt similar to War of The Worlds - particularly the scenes where the narrator is hiding in the house and also describing the invaders taking people away. I experienced this via audible and thoroughly recommend as an audiobook with a really good narrator.

This short story was suspenseful and interesting from the start. I enjoy a story that keeps me guessing about what might happen next and this story fit the bill. I would recommend this story to anyone that enjoys a good suspenseful and creepy story,
An interesting concept with lots of potential for expansion into a longer piece - it almost felt like something Stephen King or James Herbert would have come up with - but the characters felt very basic. They really only existed to further the plot so I had no emotional investment in them.
a good story anchored in reality, which takes flight as the plot develops, to become supernatural. who are the monsters in our world? the evil, the ones which come to hurt us, in catastrophic events, which might look "natural" or "normal" to some, but evil should not be accepted as our normality.
Short story, very creative and fantastic figurative speech, Very good story & plot. Creature suspense, yes, thought it couldve had more impact as you travel to the end, with more at the end maybe, but NOT a bad short story at all. Very well presented!
This was a short story that starts out about a family taking shelter during a hurricane and turns into something more sinister. Great little scary tale.
Hmmm I was trying to find another book and ended up seeing this was free on audible. It was nicely written but quite forgettable as monster stories go. I won’t remember this after today I reckon.
