Lisette Marshall is a fantasy romance author, language nerd and cartography enthusiast. Having grown up on a steady diet of epic fantasy, regency romance and cosy mysteries, she now writes steamy, swoony stories with a generous sprinkle of murder.

Lisette lives in the Netherlands (yes, below sea level) with her boyfriend and the few house plants that miraculously survive her highly irregular watering regime. When she’s not reading or writing, she can usually be found drawing fantasy maps, baking and eating too many chocolate cookies, or geeking out over Ancient Greek.

4.5 stars!

Wow, what a finish for the series! Exciting, intriguing, dramatic, sexy and gloriously romantic, I couldn’t put this book down and read it in one sitting, desperate to know how Viviette and Jaghar’s story would end, and completely captivated from start to finish.

This book begins where the last book, Leather, ended. Viviette and Jaghar are returning home to the Peaks - in love, committed and excited to begin planning their future together. They know they will have challenges to face, but they’re prepared to fight for each other, and I was right there with them!

But right when they appear to be on the cusp on getting everything they’ve hoped for, tragedy strikes the castle. Viviette finds herself completely lost, while Jaghar has another mystery to solve, and with both of them emotionally reeling, they’ll have to battle not only for their happiness, but for the future of their kingdom.

I love her more than anything I’ve ever loved in the world.

This book is a really exciting ride. Even though the blurb gives it away, the events are still shocking, and the emotion of it all is beautifully written. I felt everything along with the characters, and I was madly flipping through the pages as the story unfolded, needing to know if my theories were right (spoiler alert – part yes, but a big surprising no). There are secrets and plots, political strategizing, vengeance and lies, and it’s all tangled up so well, I loved watching it play out. Though I had an idea where things were going, there were still some surprises, and when the time came for the big reveal, I was internally cheering.

And through it all, Viviette and Jaghar’s romance is beautiful. They have come so far, they are so in love, so passionate for each other, and so honest and sure of their future together, and I loved that! There’s lots of sexy time, which is super hot and full of intensity, and the romance is absolutely gorgeous. There’s this fantastic sense of playfulness to these two, and in the midst of all of the drama and emotion, those rare, secret little grins mean so much. They will be tested, but it shows their strength, and together, these two are capable of pretty much anything.

Jaghar grinned. “I created a monster, didn’t I?”
“Don’t blame yourself. The monster largely created herself and is quite satisfied with the state of affairs.”

I have loved this series. Lisette Marshall writes so well, and Viviette and Jaghar’s story has been a fantastic journey, with lots of twists and turns. I love these two characters so much, and I loved seeing them get the HEA I wanted so badly for them. I finished this book with a huge smile on my face.

I’m looking forward to exploring more of this world and its characters, and am so excited that there are more books on the way.

4.5 stars.

I enjoyed The Princess and The Spy trilogy from start to finish. Watching Jaghar and Vivi grow from enemies, to unwilling collaborators, to friends who respected each other's special skills and worth, to bedmates, and finally into lovers with a bond based on trust and love has been an enjoyable journey. Silk is a delicious sandwich of all the things I love about Fantasy Romance (and all the things I've come to expect from Lisette Marshall). Political intrigue, a medieval world that feels romantic and real all at the same time, an evil needing avenged, clandestine plots, a romance that ignites the pages, cunning characters I care about, strong dialogue, and plenty of hot steamy moments to keep me up past my bedtime. Marshall is an author worth following. I predict she'll be a bestseller one day.

The final book in an amazing trilogy! This book takes us back to Viviette's home kingdom, and starts on the process of Vivi being declared as the heir to kingdom!

An untimely murder throws all of Vivi and Jaghar's happy plans into chaos, and it's a race against time as they try to solve the murder and also get their HEA!

I absolutely LOVED Vivi and Jaghar's dialogues in this one - their love and mutual understanding has had a steady growth from when we first see them in Velvet, and it's really depicted well in this book.. it was an absolute pleasure to read! ❤️

The author has said that there will be more books in this Kingdom, following Tamar and Ysabel respectively, and I can't wait for them!

4.5 ⭐

While this lagged in places, the action really picked up towards the last 25% and the conclusion was fantastic. The crowning scene was absolutely brilliant: dramatic, hilarious, and just generally very satisfying. Viviette and Jaghar once again proved that they can overcome any obstacle with mutual trust, passion, and a healthy dose of sleuthing.

Once again the Princess and the Spy has a murder to solve. At last there is some honesty and less doubts of their feelings.

I love the fact that when the plan is revealed to the reader it rarely succeed. But when the character have a plan and stick to it without us knowing how it will play out - it's a success. Both of those scenarious are included in this book.

A clever book, lots of emotions and a happy ending. An incredible conclusion to this series.

“Silk” is the third and final book in “The princess and Spymaster” series, by Lisette Marshall. The series is low fantasy and, in its conclusion, It is a truly emotional tale, because Jaghar and Viviette go through extreme situations, not only in relation to the kingdom of Peaks, but also experiencing family losses. Now it is the time to prove themselves more than lovers and spy partners, but also as a true couple, capable of supporting themselves in the face of the greatest adversities. Lisette continues to develop her fantasy world building, delving into the intrigues of the Five Kingdoms, this time betting on the succession to Peaks and its implications for the other monarchies. The love scenes remain hot and detailed, but without losing the elegance I really love the way things start, with Jaghar exerting subtle dominance over his Velvet - he's the great spymaster, the teacher, and she's the devoted pupil. But, throughout the trilogy, it is Vivi who acquires mastery and begins to dominate the love game: poor Jaghar, he finds himself completely seduced and surrendered! In all, it is a worth conclusion for the trilogy and I’m already anxious to know the next kingdom and characters in Five Kingdoms world: flame haired Queen Tamar promises put even more fire and pepper on the courts she will visit. I can't wait for the new paths we'll take in the saga of the Five Kingdoms.

“I just love her more than anything I’ve ever loved in the world.” 💙

What an amazing way to end this trilogy! Vivi and Jaghar’s story is so beautiful and romantic and I was so happy they got their HEA!

This book picks up right where the last book left off and was action packed with all the political schemes and mystery we’ve seen throughout the series! This trilogy is such a quick read and will have you hooked right from the beginning. It’s definitely a series you won’t want to put down.

I absolutely loved that everything came full circle in the end! I can’t wait to read the next series set in this same world and I’m hoping these two make an appearance because I’m not ready to say goodbye!

If you love medieval fantasy romance, spicy romantasy novels, and murder mystery full of political intrigue, then be sure to check out this series!

There was nothing about this book I didn’t like. I was sucked in by the very first page and didn’t stop until the very last. Vivi and Jaghar’s story was magnificently told and so satisfying. The webs Marshall sprung all came together very well and I’m definitely excited to take the next plunge into Tamar’s story. I’m definitely looking forward to what’s to come and give super kudos to Marshall on telling such a fun and intriguing story!!!

I said Leather was everything I was hoping for after Velvet and I didn't know what to expect with Silk, I mean, it seemed like Vivi and Jaghar got their happy ending right? The most perfect dream of a trip home ever, problems solved....and then they walked into the front door of the castle. You knew their happy ever after wasn't going to be that easy, right? Stakes are higher than ever and the danger closer to home. threats from the past come back to haunt them - and it turns out Vivian and Jaghar have a few secrets of their own that might just shake things up too.

This book has ALL the feels! So much romance - and not just the steamy bits, like their relationship has really grown and developed to a much deeper level and it is beautiful - even if they still act like teenagers at times. You know what I like best though, is that even though this book reveals a side of these characters you never would have expected from book 1, they still stay true to who they are at the core - and the solution to their problems is dependent on them using their wit. This is a fight where clever wins.

This is the third book in the Princess and the Spy series and although I think it could be read as a standalone, I highly recommend reading the series in order as the previous books do lay some groundwork for what happens in this book. Excellent conclusion to the series and I am happy to see there will be books for other characters we've caught glimpses of.

In this one, Vivi's father is finally convinced to name her his heir when he is murdered. Hero and Vivi must solve the murder and convince the Council members to vote for Vivi to be the new queen instead of her terrible uncle. Lots of twists and turns.

Silk was a wonderful conclusion to The Princess & the Spy Trilogy!  Fantasy lovers that are a fan of tortured heroes, fearless heroines, and steamy moments may fall hard for this book!  With a fabulous HEA and tons of heart, this story was a lot of fun!
‘You’ll stay with me, won’t you? Whatever happens?’
‘Velvet…’ The joyless smile on his lips nearly made her burst out in tears again. ‘I’ll never not be on your side. I promise.’

Viviette and Jaghar were back home, but again mystery was laced throughout the pages.  With a murder to solve and their enemy unknown, they had to work harder than ever to find out what was going on.  Trials tested and pushed them to their limits, but Viviette and Jaghar kept proving themselves worthy.  They were both so clever and smart, and while I was nervous a future between them wouldn't work, I kept the hope alive!
‘It’ll be alright. Stay with me. I don’t want to let go of you tonight.’
He pulled her back against his chest, wrapping the blankets around them with trembling arms. ‘But tomorrow…’
‘Tomorrow,’ Viviette said, nestling herself against him and closing her eyes, ‘we fight.

With this story, I guessed one of the huge twists.  But I definitely didn't guess the next part of it or what one of our favorite characters would do eeps!  So much was more than meets the eye and this story kept me on my toes and turning those pages faster.  As the story unfolded, I loved how so many questions were answered and that we were given a fabulous ending to this trilogy!  But at the same point, so much is still going on in the Five Kingdoms and I can't wait to see other series set in this world!  If you're looking for a completed fantasy series to binge and are a fan of star crossed lovers, then definitely check this one out!

Y'know what? I loved this. The whole series, really. I did not expect to, at least not as much as I did — which is probably not the correct approach to take when starting a trilogy, but I read the whole trilogy in, like, three days, and felt real, human emotion during that reading and I just...really, really enjoyed this!

Was it a little ridiculous? Sure. Everything was awful and dramatic AT ALL TIMES, but none of that ever felt like it truly impacted Viviette and Jaghar's relationship??? And I was SO INTO THAT. Far too often, I think books feel like the relationship has to house all sorts of drama™ in order to keep it interesting, but let's be honest: it's way more interesting to read about a couple who face their drama™ together with only minimal wavering from the dude. Who, in stories like this, is contractually obligated to have at last a handful of I'M NOT GOOD ENOUGH moments. Which Jaghar executed to perfection, really.

I wasn't super sold on Jaghar in Velvet (almost entirely because of the age difference), but by this point? Oh boy. My boy, in fact. This entire book, I was like: one more secret and this dude is just going to topple over. And he kinda almost did, honestly. But! All that relationship strength was stronger than ever, and Viviette simply refused to deal with his 'ish and I really adored Viviette. Strong without being StRoNg WoMaN or trashing on other women (unless they deserved it. peace out, Rosin, you're the worst) and was entirely capable of saving herself.

My onlyyyyy very small, decidedly slight issue is that I was sometimes a little confused by the world building. I'm not sure if I read in the wrong order (and if I did, that's on me) but sometimes things would be referenced and I was like—wait, what are we talking about? It didn't really affect my enjoyment, but every now and then, I'd have to pause to figure out what was going on.

Still, I loved this. I loved the HEA. I will probably read more by Lisette.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is the final book in this series and it did not disappoint!

I loved seeing Viviette and Jaghar overcome their many challenges together, even if it's still full of the miscommunication trope, we get there in the end.

The pacing was great, I finished reading this in about 5 hours and I was kept intrigued the whole time. I did manage to guess a few things but I feel like that was due to how well the characters were written and the fact that I knew how they would react to certain things rather than the plot itself being boring and predictable.

The characters themselves have been great throughout this series. I actually hated a couple of them because of their actions and I'm glad at least one of them got what they deserved 😂.

I really enjoyed the plot and the twists that developed. I liked that almost every piece of information is not as it seems so there's always new things being discovered.

It's a shame that this series has ended but I can't wait to read other books that explore the same world/kingdoms that this is set in.

Thank you Lisette for the ARC copy and for giving me the chance to follow Vivi and Jaghar on this epic journey.
Amazing cover as always. I just have to say that I love how every title in this trilogy can be found in the books, but no spoilers as it's a thing every reader has to find.
Silk is the final instalment in The princess & the spy trilogy and it starts with a murder. Pretty interesting, no?
After arriving home from the escape at Donovan's castle, Vivi and Jaghar hope they can convince the King to make Vivi his heir, but before that the King is murdered. The 2 leads will start on a road to find the murderer and to put Vivi on the throne.
I liked the fast paced tone the action had, there wasn't a moment when something didn't happen. Let's not forget the steamy bits that made me blush. I liked how the character arcs developed in those 3 books and how strong, brave, witty and scheming (in a good way) Vivi had become.

This series was overall enjoyable! My only complaints in the end were that I wished a bit more focus at the end had been put towards resolving more of the court matters- we sort of got resolution on emeric, but not exactly what’s going to happen to him.

Also Donovan?? Maybe it’s bc she’s saving him for Ysabel’s trilogy or something but I was very unhappy with how that turned out. And the dukes.. osric and Gideon are both horrible and they’re just gonna keep chilling there? And the molesting priest?? Is he still doing his thing or did she make him leave??

While I was satisfied with viviette and joghar’s relationship ending, I felt like a lot of the other plot points were just not ended satisfyingly.

The final installment of the princess and the spy does not disappoint! Vivi and Jahgar are working on getting her on the throne after her father is murdered. With the killer still looking to gain her throne, the overwhelming task of convincing the counsel she is fit to be the heir, and her relationship with Jahgar, they have a lot up against them.

From book one to now, I have enjoyed Vivi and Jahgar's story. It has been a rollercoaster of emotions and the story has been a thrill to read. The author has done an incredible job of immersing you in this world and making you connect with all of the characters. I'm sad to see the series ending, but the ending to it was worthwhile.

I'm convinced that I'll closely watch out for next releases of the author. Everything I read so far from her was amazing and left me with such positive emotions.

This book was again written with the typical author's charm. The story was full of suspense and angst, very entertaining. I enjoyed the storytelling very much.

The love story was not only delightfully spicy but also heavy on the romance - the best combination. I especially enjoyed the character depth and the development of the romance. Their romance story is unique and I loved to read their journey and their HEA.

The showdown was awesome! Especially the sneaky act by Velvet.

The conclusion to The Princess & The Spy trilogy. This is the culmination of Velvet and Jaghar relationship while they face there most emotional and hard hitting mystery. This installment in the trilogy also deals with miscommunication amongst Jaghar and Velvet. While for understandable reasons as emotional trauma and difficult situations was still frustrating to see in the novel. Also answers to the mystery and solutions to key difficulties was fairly obvious as the reader. The ending is happy, but does have a slight bittersweet note to it. In personal opinion the trilogy isn't as well done as the first novel, but overall is still fairly good.

The Princess and the Spy trilogy just kept getting better and better, and this last book "Silk" was an amazing finish line to their story. Velvet and Jaghar is quickly whirled into another mystery, a killer is on the loose, someone wants to steal away the crown. They must endure endless hours in the dark, not knowing how they will manage to find the killer. The book is filled with mystery, heated arguments, passion in equal measure.
The connection between them just kept getting better and better, and I was delighted to see how their journey came to a closure in the end.

Oh gosh, it’s over. I finished it! 😭😭 there are no more pages. I am devastated… just kidding, I’m actually just in a book hangover lmaoo. AHHH I loved this series. This book was an incredible ending to The Princess and the Spymaster series.

The story in this one followed our mains solving a horrific mystery, changing the way their backwards world thinks about women, Vivi and Jaghar falling for each other, and Vivi once again proving that she is the ultimate boss and will have you simping for her 100%.

The steam kept on, the spice was so juicy and Jaghar is the most precious baby. I love him so. I loved these books so!

Absolutely loved this series!

The story was well written with great character development. Plenary of action and skillfully written romance. A story that I could not put down. Characters that you were rooting for and feeling their struggles. Hot scenes written onto a story versus a small story attempt to go with the sex. This was a good read. Is been struggling to find some a good book to get into and this series did not disappoint .

The third and final book in the series. Continues the saga and love story of Velvet and the Spymaster. This book can be read as a stand alone story with a HEA ending. However they are best enjoyed in order. Steamy scenes are scattered throughout the entire series. The death of the King is a jarring event that creates a series of plot twists that keep you engaged. I would recommend this series to anyone who enjoys a lusty read.

The saga of Velvet & Jaghar continues! I have to admit one piece of the plot wasn’t to my liking. But the story was very exciting and a page turner! I wish their story wasn’t over. They could have so many more adventures!

This is my honest review! The series is a must read if you love a strong couple that has their own opinions but can listen to each other!

This was definitely the best book in this trilogy in my opinion even though the mystery aspect of it was lacking. But regardless I still very much enjoyed reading about Viviette and Jaghar throughout this book being a strong couple. I'm happy with the conclusion of this series and I'm glad that I read it. It was a lot of fun.

A good ending to the story although I would have preferred another 'villains' than the ones we got. That was a little too obvious and 'easy' I think. It would have been more interesting with a more complicated plot. But otherwise, I quite like that book.
I would recommend those series (although the sex scenes are quite numerous and very, very hot. You've been warned.)

I liked that even when they get together as a couple, they still worked individually for their goals in smart/successful ways. I feel like in a lot of series, once the couple gets together, they tend to lose a bit of their individuality/independence. Or even the FMC would go off on her own to 'help' and end up being foolish. This was refreshing.

The conclusion to Vivi and Jaghar's story! The middle section was a bit slow and there were some moments that felt incongruous with the characters Marshall has built up, but the ending was very satisfying and I love that in the end, Vivi was the one to save the day.
