It started with one lost pup; it may end in a war…
Panthers don’t do responsibility. They don’t do long-term relationships. They definitely don’t raise kids. But when Z discovers a young wolf in the forest, he takes him in, unaware of the powerful beings hunting the pup.
Fiona is a witch who can’t leave her house; the birds have told her something bad will happen, and the birds are always right. The mailbox is as far as she’ll go, but even that may provide more danger than she’s bargained for.
When a wolf pup stumbles into her garden, her safe, wrapped-up world heads for a free fall. But along with danger, the pup brings a chance at love—a chance an agoraphobic witch and a bachelor panther aren’t likely to find on their own.
Note: This title was originally published by Zoe Winters (The same person as Kitty Thomas) as The Catalyst, Preternaturals Book 3.) All content from the original book remains the same. This book can be read as a standalone. No cliffhangers, each book has a full and complete HEA.
"If dark romance with obsession, danger, and just the right touch of chaos is your thing, Ruthless Devotion is a must-read. Aidan is intense, unhinged in the best way, and completely fixated on Maddie—yet somehow, you can’t help falling for him.”-Booksnliftsdiary, Goodreads
"Dark, Twisted, and Addictively Compelling.” – Good Booking Girl, Goodreads
"Maddie is strong, she is smart, and I love her. I’ll be honest I was not sure how Kitty Thomas was gonna get me on team Aiden but she did! I can’t wait to read more from this author!” – Katlyn, Goodreads
Kitty’s Fated Mates continues with Hunted, and having the ARC means i don’t have to wait until the 21st to find out how delicious it is. And that’s a good thing, because i’m really having fun with this series!
Hunted is about Fiona,a witch with issues. She understands what animals say,and the birds keep warning her something bad will happen to her. Outside,in the open. So,the only time she leaves her home,is to check her mailbox. When she finds a werewolf pup on its own on her way back, she takes him home. And that’s where everything goes wrong…. A wherecat invades her home and attacks her. She manages to calm him down,he leaves with the pup and that should be that. Right? Wrong! He returns and kidnaps her, taking her to his cave to help him take care of the pup. Being afraid to go outside means she’s stuck. And why does the jerk have to be so damned attractive?
Z values his independence, and now he’s stuck not only with the pup he found, but with a witch, too! An adorable one,but a very innocent one,and he doesn’t do innocent. Nope,no way he’s going there…is he? But why does he want to kiss her? Has she put a spell on him? He needs to find the pup’s parents asap,so she can go home, and he’ll get his life back. Right? If only it was that simple….
While he’s out searching, the pup’s been kidnapped and convincing himself “good riddance”,Z brings Fiona home. Which ends up in her being kidnapped too…. What follows involves incubi, werewolves, witches and vampires. But who wants what? What sinister plan is being played? And by whom?
This was another wonderful story in the world of the Fated Mates, and i enjoyed every minute of it! Fiona may have been a scared little witch at first, but i loved her quirkiness and her hidden strenght. I liked Z ,even if he pretended not to care, afraid to lose his precious independence. And i loved him for doing his best to protect his little witch. I even liked Cain a little better…..not sure if that’ll last, but he did his best….this time. Not just because he took care of a new sucubus ,but how he did it. Plus, i was very happy the pup found his parents!
The writing and story in here was fantastic! However, I was expecting this story to be just about Fiona and Z and it wasn't. It had other characters from previous stories and while I liked it, I think it distracted from Fiona and Z. I didn't really like either of their characters because I didn't get to really know them as individuals or as couple. As a couple, they get a HFN but it almost didn't feel like a HFN. I don't know...their story just kind of bummed me out and didn't feel romantic or passionate.
This is purely a personal opinion and based on my personal tastes so if you're looking for a fun PNR with steam and intrigue then definitely give this one a try. Still really excited for Cain's story though!!
This is the third book in the series. Book one, Blood Lust, was actually three short stories, which were great short reads. Book two wasn't as good in my opinion, but still a good read. This one really sealed the deal for me on this series. We have a agoraphobic novice witch and a very dominate and independent panther. Oh, and there is a werewolf pup who was born as a pup and can't shift human until he is 4 or 5. How cute is that?
So, the panther finds the pup and takes him, except the pup wanders. He is found by the witch who ventured out to get the mail. The panther proceeds to kidnap her to get her to babysit while he searches for the pup's pack.
This book brings back many characters from the previous two books. So, we have witches, demons, vampires, shifters (both panther and wolf), did we miss anyone? Just an all around great story.
I could not let go of this book. The story kept me glued on my chair from the beginning. Fiona and Z relationship develops quite amazingly with ups and downs. I love that we get to see characters from the other books.
Well fellow reader, you need to strap yourself into this roller coaster and prepare for the ride.
This book is mostly about Z who is a were panther (yes yes I know they don't like to be called weres), and a witch who is a quirky, sensitive character and she certainly brings the protective beast out of Z. We also have lots of secondary characters from the first 2 books which I loved.
Kitty yet again does an amazing job of blending in the lore of this world seamlessly into the story, dropping in pieces of info that lets your brain slowly build up how things work. Its important to remember many of these characters are mostly not human, they don't live by human rules or behaviors, which means sometimes they do things that a human would be mad/annoyed at, just roll with it.
We are spoilt in this book with so many awesome characters, and Kitty managed to get me to fall in love with Cain who I really thought was a complete A Hole in the last book. In this one we see his true self, someone who has spent a billion years as a demon sucubus, yeah I hear ya, whose going to complain about all that sex with sexy woman for all those years but and hes since been left to take care of the newly created succubus/succubi and hes not too thrilled about it. However deep down its clear he cares for these fellow demons, and I actually think he craves a mate of his own, and its going to take a strong woman to tame this beast, and in this book I think we get an insight into who this will be !!
Back to Kitty..... wow she must of had fun writing this, she isn't afraid to really push the boundaries and for once in my life I didn't go to end of book to see what happens so I went in completely unprepared and boy do parts pull at the heart strings. BUT, this is a paranormal world and you never just quite know what will happen.....
It all starts with a little pup who is lost, and ends with an epic battle that could turn into all out war.
Go one click it, I recommend you read the first 2 books, first one is 3 short stories where you are introduced to many of the main players in this world.
Hunted: Fated Mates #3 This book can be read as a standalone and is an interconnected romance. This is Fiona Patrone and Zane “Z” Trent’s story.
Fiona is a witch that has the ability to understand animals. She also has a bad case of agoraphobia. The birds told her that something bad was going to happen. She needed to make a trip to the mailbox, which was a big step for her to just leave her house. She heard a sound she couldn’t ignore. So when she found a wolf pup, he needed her help.
Z, a panther shifter jumps through her window thinking Fiona had stolen the pup and the rest of the story unfolds….
I love how Kitty Thomas has a little bit of everything fantasy/paranormal in this series. There are shapeshifters. Such as vampires, panthers, werewolves. There are also demons, witches and warlocks.
It has been great reading this series and this book Hunted. Kitty Thomas throws in all the twists and turns to keep the book(s) interesting.
Even though these stories can be read as standalones, here is the reading order.
Blood Lust #1- Anthony Burgess and Charlotte “Charlee” Devlin Incubus Awakened #2 - Anna Worthington & Luc
Kitty Thomas wrote this book originally under the name of Zoe Winters when she was trying to separate the genre’s that she writes. Now she is trying to bring the 2 names together.
What a fabulous world Kitty has come up with. It's rich in characters, both human and non. And there is such great world building. Each book adds more background and continues to entice you. We are getting quite the assortment of supernatural characters and they all bring such a unique and different input. Their contributions are rich in lore, they are definitely not the stereotyped usual, and are such fun and rich characters. We are starting to see some interaction between the different characters in the previous books, and that adds so much enjoyment. While you could definitely read this book alone, I highly recommend you start at the beginning, since it fleshes out the backgrounds and adds even more to the storyline. Plus, if the first book isn't quite your cup of tea, do NOT give up on the series. I didn't find myself invested in the story from the first book, and I suspect it's just that I didn't care for the novella approach. I like my stories much more fleshed out, which doesn't lend itself to short stories. You would be making a huge mistake if you didn't continue. Trust me.
I loved meeting and getting to know Z, the werepanther and Fiona, the witch. Z, who is a life long bachelor like most panthers, is living his best life with no commitments, just like he prefers it. Fiona is just a recluse who has no intention of leaving her cozy little cottage. They meet because of an abandoned wolf pup and neither expects the twists, turns and flips their roller coaster of a journey is set to follow. They are a very unlikely couple and they will both have to learn to give up their solitary life in order to let their relationship blossom. The best thing about this book is that it not only gives us a window into the relationship Z and Fiona, but we get the perspective of other characters we’ve met in past books. Cole and Jane, Anthony and Charlee and Luc and Anna!! I love being able to get updates about the other characters I’ve already fallen in love with. Cain also plays a huge role in this story and although after the book Incubus, I didn’t like Cain…he’s starting to grow on me quite a bit. This might be my favorite of the books so far, and I can’t wait to get to know Cain more in the book Bad Magic, Fated Mates 4.
*I received this book as a gift in exchange for my honest opinion.
Let's play a game of "never have I ever". Never, and I mean never in the years I've been writing reviews, have a EVER forgotten to write a review for a book in a series I'm reading before moving on the the next one. Folks. That officially just happened. After finishing this book, I was so engaged and invested in finding out what happens next, that I TOTALLY forgot to write this review and am currently half way through the next book!!!!! I think that should tell you everything....but I'll still write the review.
There is a LOT going on in this book. First, we meet a witch who speaks to animals and is afraid to go outdoors. Then we meet a panther who is protecting a werewolf pup who kidnaps the witch because she can communicate with it and he needs her help. And OMG, guess who the pup belongs to????!!!!!
And what the what?!!!! There's a twist with one of the previous characters that's like....mind blowing. And that character and the other character are like, "this means war" (but not really...kind of). And then the panther and the witch and the vampires and demons and AHHHHHHHHH....I'm so obsessed with this!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok, seriously though....I'm going back to the next book. Byeeeee
A witch with issues, a panther that doesn’t do responsibilities, and a young wolf walk into the forest…. But seriously folks, I think it’s safe to say Hunted is my favorite book in the Fated Mates series. I loved the story of Fiona and Z as well as the mystery behind the wolf pup. It was like getting two stories in one. Prepare to be surprised!
It was fun getting to discover Z and Fiona as they sorted through their issues. I chuckled quite a bit as Z had to deal with his panthers ‘don’t do that’ bachelor spiel at the same time finding himself drawn back to Fiona again and again. Then there’s the whole wolf cub. His parents are who? No way! Just when you think he’s in the story as a filler, let’s just say I didn’t see coming at all. And the ending, LOVED IT!
A must read for fans of PNR, Hunted is sure to please Ms. Thomas’ fans as well. Side note: I know it says the book can be read as a standalone, BUT, to get the full WOW impact I highly recommend reading the whole series.
Hunted is book three in the Fated Mates series - a PNR series that was originally published under a different pen name. This is quite different from what I've become used to from Kitty Thomas. The world building in this book is exquisite and we have a menagerie of characters to go with it. The story centers around a reclusive witch and a solitary panther who come together to care for an abandoned wolf pup. These two are an unlikely yet perfect pairing. There are a lot of twists and turns and quite a bit of action in addition to the love story. Kitty Thomas isn't one to play by the rules and this world allows her the freedom to push some boundaries and that certainly makes things interesting. I haven't had the chance to read the first two books in the series and I think having done so would have enhanced the experience. I'm very curious to see where Ms. Thomas takes the series and will be diving right into the next story!
Previously The Catalyst. Loved this book and how Fiona and Z’s story unfolded. Z the self proclaimed bachelor who keeps picking up strays, Fiona the scared witch who fears even walking to her mailbox, what a pair. The connection to previous characters was flawless and fun. Jane is now so powerful and I only felt sorry for Charlee being a helpless pawn in all the mess. Anthony was being a beast but got knocked back down a few levels. Loved seeing Luc, Anna and Tam again. Of course leave it to Zoe/Kitty to redeem an unredeemable character in Cain, actually really liked him in this book and decided he isn’t all bad. Kind of like what happened with Brian in the Pleasure House series.
The deeper I get into this world, the more I love it. There are really two stories weaved together in this book. We have Fiona and Z. And we have Cole and Jane. I am loving the way the former characters make appearances with each new story. The Cole and Jane thread is a follow up story while Fiona and Z are at the forefront. Z is a total alpha hole and I kind of wanted to smack him. Fiona gets thrust way outside of her comfort zone but it gives her a chance to start again. I love how each couple gets their happy ending but we get to see how it looks as the series goes on.
This was a whopper of a story, and all those threads that were out there start to twist around each other. Not that you know it from the start, but then all the little pieces start to take shape, and by the end, you wanting to deep dive into all the stories to see how things will play out! A dormant witch with a cute wolf pup starts us out, and then a panther joins that mix. This is our main story and couple, and he is just as arrogant, aloof, and emotional as you would expect from any cat. She is confused, smart, and inexperienced in the way things are playing out, but she knows things, she doesn’t have practical knowledge. They clash, of course, but they also connect, and lucky for her, he has more than enough familiarity of the world to get her through it!
This book was awesome. Fiona and Z seem to be an unlikely pair but they somehow work after their each get over their hangups. I enjoyed seeing the characters from previous books such as Anna and Luc, Jane and Cole. The story was a rollercoaster and there were so many twists and turns it had me on the edge of my seat unable to put the book down. I love how each book is expanding the universe and were seeing that many people are interconnected. I can't wait to see what happens next!
So this book really felt like it took off for the whole series. It brings a bunch of characters from the other books into this one. And you get to find out things that have happened since those books have ended. I love books that are in a series and bring together past characters. They are some of my favorite books!
I really am enjoying this series of PNR from Kitty Thomas. She knows how to pull a story together that keeps you reading and not wanting to stop. Can't wait to see what is next.
An agoraphobic witch should never have a chance to cross paths with a love-'em-and-leave-'em werepanther, but a scampering and lost wolf pup provides just the catalyst for a fated meeting in Kitty Thomas' HUNTED. Fiona Patrone can understand animals and the birds tell her how dangerous her future is. So, she avoids leaving her house. Trouble finds her anyway, and the next thing she knows, she's being held hostage in a cave.
Zane "Z" Trent is a loner and confirmed bachelor, indulging his panther side and living up his basic animalistic traits. Basically, if he can't eat it or fuck it, he wants nothing to do with it. It's a lifestyle that has served him well for decades. The lost wolf pup he took under his care was a bit out of his norm, as was kidnapping the witch with the ability to understand what the pup needs. But as soon as he finds the pup's real parents - or at least his pack - everything will go back to normal. Or so he tells himself.
Kitty Thomas has quite the story to tell in HUNTED, but it is more than the face value story of boy meets girl. Sure, boy kidnaps girl, eventually sleeps with girl, and stubbornly refuses to admit he likes girl, but additional story lines branch and merge to tell the tale. Couples previously introduced in the Fated Mates series play an integral role in this third book. Though Fiona and Z live in the forest surrounding Golatha Falls, the story travels through dimensions as well as returns to Cary Town for a bit. One little wolf pup causes quite the stir and partnerships of all kinds are tested before Z accepts his bachelorhood is over.
HUNTED can be read as a stand-alone, but the full impact of the side characters' parts requires reading the first two books, Blood Lust and Incubus Awakened. Kitty Thomas does well weaving in all the threads to create the beautiful story of Fiona and Z and hints at more to come for others. The world she has built, from the different dimensional realms to the loop of infinite rebirth to the intertwined fated souls, is gorgeously laid out. The endless possibilities that await only make the growing power-hungry storyline all the more intense.
I received an Advanced Reader Copy for an honest and voluntary review
This series just keeps getting better and better!! Everytime I think I’ve read “my favorite” book, in this series, I read the next one 💙 Every single book has been consistently fantastic!! I really love the world of this series, and how the characters all intertwine. There have been some absolutely amazing characters ♥️ Fiona, an agoraphobic witch, finds an abandoned baby wolf pup at her cottage. Z a were panther, who has been living in the woods, thinks this baby wolf is in danger. He breaks into Fiona’s house to rescue the pup. These two characters, not only have to care for this little pup, but learn how to navigate a relationship being two completely different people!! I VERY HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK 💙 I VERY MUCH CAN’T WAIT FOR BOOK 4 😍
If you’ve read the previous 2 books in the series, you might’ve noticed a bit of a disconnect. Book 1 takes place in Cary Town. Book 2 in Golatha Falls. But this book brings those two together. Characters from books 1 and 2 collide. While the main story follows Fiona and Z, we get to see how some of the characters from the previous books are fairing. Some better than others. Kitty Thomas really knows how to make me love and hate a character at the same time. While you don’t need to read the previous two books to read this one, I highly suggest it since it shows perspectives from other characters. As always in Kitty books, plot twists galore! And to see a certain character go from villain to reluctant hero-ish, is fascinating. I can’t wait to read the next one!
this story was supposed to be about Fiona, the agoraphobic witch, and Z the loner panther therian. What it really was had all the previous couples in it from the first 2 books. It was convoluted and messy and really didn't spend much time with the FMC/MMC.
The pup of Jane and Cole was the crux of all the mess going on between all the factions. The fact Jane ends up dying after getting her HEA but then she REALLY gets her HEA as she is now a demon and that bond makes Cole immortal as well. Crazy stuff.
Anyway, the Fiona and Z part is really them only spending maybe 36 hours together but it was enjoy for Z to want to keep her. Decent read but jumped around alot. WAY TOO many inner thoughts on a cast of characters that bogged the book down.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Hunted is book 3 in the series and it is Fiona and Z's story. Fiona is a witch that doesn't know alot of magic and never leaves her cabin. Z is a panther who likes his bachelorhood. These two meet because of a wolf pup and Z needs Fionas help. This book doesn't just focus on their story we learn more about Cole and Jane and what happened with the pup. We get more glimpses of the Demon world and of Cain. There was so much back and forth in this book that it didn't focus to much on the mated part of Fiona and Z. I really liked Z's character and would have liked to see more of him. I can't wait to read the next book to continue the journey.
Hunted is another great installment in this series of PNR from Kitty Thomas. I love that each book is stand alone in this series but still gives us bits and pieces of past characters so we can see the overall world still developing around each story.
This one focuses on Zane, or Z, a bachelor panther not interested in changing that fact. Enter a lost wolf pup and the housebound Fiona and we have the beginnings of a wild ride. I don't want to give away too much of the story itself but it's fun and steamy and draws you along seamlessly. Its hard to put down, and you'll want the next book and the next once you're done.
Hunted by Kitty Thomas is a paranormal romance featuring panthers, witches, demons, werewolves and more. Hunted is book 3 in the Fated Mates series.
This storyline is quite busy, many people and many problems. I felt this one was more of a lead up book for something bigger coming. I unfortunately didn't connect with this story quite like I had with the previous one, but it quite alright. There are three more books I'm sure I'll love.
I’m very much enjoying this world that Kitty has brought us all into. It’s magical and quirky and fun. This is the third book, and we’ve met so many intriguing characters, so many of whom are back in this one. Fiona and Z grabbed my attention, along with everyone, and I can’t wait to see what’s next
I've fallen in Love with this series 😃. Each is different but has characters from the other books, which make it Awesome 😉. Great action, bad guys that are good? And everything you could ever want to keep you reading long into the night 🌛. Thanks again Kitty and Zoe, I truly enjoy and Love ALL of both of y'alls books 🤓.
Good story but I wish we had more scenes of Z and Fiona. They are the main couple but 70% of the book is about the other couples. I didn’t feel like the main couple were the “main” focus of the story which is quite sad.
some one liners in this were amazing .. and the last few pages were .. I can't, I had to share them because they were so entertaining - got a lot of Cain but I need more!
Whilst this essentially is Fiona and Z's story it also heavily features Cole and Jane, from the third story in Blood Lust, so I would recommend reading that before this.
I liked both Fiona and Z, who were solidly written and consistent characters. It took a little while to understand their personal motivations and backstory. However, given that this is a paranormal romance it's somewhat expected that many character traits are a result of the type of creature they are. It was easy to warm to both characters, despite her phobia Fiona didn't feel weak, in fact I'd go so far as to say she was much stronger than Z in many ways, especially mentally and emotionally.
I would have preferred it had the story focused on just the one couple, with Cole and Jane's story being a novella/short story that preceded this book. I can understand why the author chose to blend to two separate stories that overlapped, but I found it distracting to have my attention split in such a way. Very much personal preference though and as many will enjoy the dual couple element.
The writing, as always, is a solid 4 stars with a good mix of dialogue, inner monologue, action and description. The story moves along at a good pace and there are plenty of humour filled moments as well as scorching hot sex scenes.
