Ah, so much better than the script. Feels much more faithful to characters from the OG series. the extra scenes added in generally add well to the characterisation and help to resolve some of the plotholes & egregious gaps, all while better exploring the relationships between the characters. A few of the common If you have the choice between reading the original script and this novelisation, please read this, it will be much less painful. I'd be much more willing to accept this as canon, for sure, though some of the weird bits and plotholes remain (more or less by necessity). From what I've heard of the play, it could very well still be worth your while to go and see the play in person.
So I haven't read all the books but I've seen all the movies so id thought it is fine reading this. no, I wasn't I was extremely confused while reading it another reason might be because it's in a screenplay form and not a normal book format so that might have been another reason but I just didn't know what was going on.
Definitely could’ve finished this much quicker than I did! But once I got into it, I genuinely couldn’t stop reading.
If you’re disappointed with how TCC turned out or just can’t bring yourself to find interest in reading a script, definitely give this a chance!
It’s heaps more developed than The Cursed Child is ‘canonically’ - every character is written so beautifully and given more depth, especially the parents. The added dialogue and scenes by the author gives the story extra charm and flows so well to fill in plot holes (I’m honestly disappointed that they aren’t in the actual script and that I won’t be able to see them played out on stage). I found the blooming relationship between Scorpius and Albus very refreshing also.
I’ll absolutely be recommending this to others in the future.
Nothing will ever convince me that this is canon. The characters are SO out of character and the plot lines make literally no sense in regards to the original series.
I'm going to pretend that this book never existed.
this is one of the best fics i've ever read. incredible work in novelizing the script. i smiled, laughed and cried lots throughout this read, had a stronger emotional reaction to it than to most of the other works i've read. scorpius malfoy is the purest and loveliest human being ever conceived and he will always remain in my heart as a role model and to cheer me up in dark times.
10/10 would recommend to anyone who loves the harry potter books. claudia's writing is amazing and actually quite similar to jkr's.
WHY!!!! First off the screen play style is confusing and I think it would have been way easier to format it as a book. Second the plot line was horrible absolute trash. I loved the Harry Potter series and everything about it but I would not recommend. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again these types of books where they try to put it in the main characters kids perspective are never that good. Nothing happened in the whole plot in my opinion. Wast of your money
I have always heard terrible things about cursed child. I wanted to form my own opinion and since I already knew all the details of it I thought it wouldn’t be TOO bad. I’m just going to pretend that I never read this and move on with my life.
The writing is ever so slightly dodgy in places, but this is a better telling of the Cursed Child story. I recommend reading the It's Teatime series directly after this novelisation
This is a great novelisation of cursed child and works to establish scorbus as a potential romance (thank you), highly recommend if interested. Also fixes plotholes in the best way manageable.
Killed my soul to rate it a 1 star! But…how did this book happen??? After reading, you’ll just stare at the wall, wondering what you just read. Or you can close the book and read some fanfiction to make yourself feel better.
I am only writing this review three years later because i am almost fully recovered after reading this. Horrible. This book is like in itch in your brain you can't get rid of. EVER.
Ehh.. jak moc miluju celou Harry Potter serii, tak tenhle díl nenávidím z celého srdce. Nějak to celé nedával smysl.

There’s so many bad rating for this book, but I honestly thought it was super cool. I definitely enjoyed reading and would read it again. It was a quick read too. Don’t exactly know if it’s cannon to the world of Harry Potter, I haven’t really looked too much into it. I just read it with the intent on enjoying it, and that I did. Definitely a bit different, but overall I thought it was quite clever and a good read!
I can see why some fans might not be happy this was written, but I think for some fans, especially kids, it's an interesting play. It is mostly 'fan fiction ' playing tribute to a lot of the events and characters from the original series. My 10 year old daughter and I made sure to read it before going to see it on broadway.
I have been rereading this book with a student since the fall. I had completely forgotten the details. It’s a fun continuation of the series, but I know a lot of die bards who don’t love it. I enjoyed it.
