Dr Evans latest book on Kingdom Values was a real blessing to me. This book is mainly divided into two major portions. The first part focuses on the definition of truth and why it is important to have a standard for truth that isn’t based upon emotions or what’s popular within the present culture. The second part gets more into detail with how God has promised that we can experience His kingdom while here on Earth by applying the values that are mentioned in the Sermon on the Mount to our lives. This is the part that really opened my eyes. Dr Evans truly has a gift from the Lord for taking the scripture and using analogies and everyday examples to make it easy to understand. I have read the Sermon on the Mount many times over the years and I’ve listened to numerous sermons over this passage but the way he explained each verse and principle was enlightening and revelatory. If I had to summarize Dr Evans latest novel into two key points I would say that his novel emphasizes that: 1. we need a standard for truth that is based upon someone or something greater than ourselves and 2. It is only by applying the truth of scripture mentioned by Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount that we can experience God’s Kingdom in our lives. I highly recommend this book for personal reflection and prayer time as well as for corporate study in small groups.

In Kingdom Values, Tony Evans has a written a book to call believers back into following Kingdom values and character. He begins the book by searching and describing what truth really is. Truth is the foundation of character. He explained how we are being deceived by the devil and how culture is busy feeding us lies. He looked at how satan was able to trick Eve into eating the forbidden fruit. He stated how the chaos in the world is the effect of people believing and following the devil’s lies. He shared how critical it is for us to know the truth where we don’t fall for satan’s lies. He revealed how the world is trying to cancel God and His Word. They are trying to cancel genders, morality, families, and whatever else they can think of. People reject the Bible mainly because it contradicts how they are choosing to live their lives.


The second part of the book looked at the components of Biblical character. One of my favorite topics was on gentleness. He stated how most men would hate this discussion. He explained how many relate it to weakness. Many believe you can’t have an opinion or speak up and you must become a doormat. He reminded readers that gentleness is controlled strength. He explained how we need to surrender to God and submit to Him. We need to have self-control. He described how Moses displayed meekness.




One of my favorite stories, he shared was the story about the farmer who got tired of his neighbors stealing his watermelon. He decided to outsmart them and he made a sign that said, “one of the watermelons is poisoned”. They came back the next day and crossed out one and added the word two. The farmer ended up losing his whole crop because he believed they poisoned a watermelon and he didn’t know which one they poisoned. I liked this humorous story. Another favorite story was of the 95-year-old man and the story of the golf club. I liked how he used this example and how we can have a wrong view of our abilities.


I would recommend this awesome book on focusing on our character and values and living them out like Christ did. I loved how he looked at many different components of our character and how we can grow each one. I immensely loved the discussion on truth and how satan is the author of confusion and how many of us are falling for his lies. I also loved the idea of the kindness challenge that he included at the end of the book to encourage readers to bless others each week.

Do feel this nation which is supposed to be the “United States” (not Divided States) and the world is in chaos? Just look at the news for 30 minutes (or less) and then answer that question. In his new book, Kingdom Values: Character > Chaos, Dr. Tony Evans challenges the reader to really examine the truth about the chaos in the world. He also offers simple solutions to remove the chaos. Whether you read the book or listen to the audio, the message will captive, convict, and compel you into action for change. Dr. Evans explains why there is no time to waste, we are in critical times and must remove the contaminates of this world that has polluted our lives and will lead to our demise (mass shooting, pandemics, climate change, racial and political conflict, hatred, etc.).
This is a ‘must read’ for everyone who sees and acknowledges the chaos (or problems) in our world. Dr. Evans provides football analogies to help us tackle the problem and win the championship over chaos. He provides real-life stories that illustrate how real-life problems can be resolved. He adds humorous hope analogies to encourage our hearts. There is a challenge that beats any Tik-Tok challenge created. It is a challenge that can change the world and every person in the world can take the challenge.
Dr. Tony Evans shows great courage in writing about such serious chaos and the calamity of its consequences in the world.
This is definitely a ‘5-star’ and ‘2-thumbs up’ great read book! I plan on giving it as a gift on special holidays and occasions because it is the perfect ‘one-size-fits-all’ gift!

This book is divided into two sections. The first is an overview on the importance of absolute truth, especially in today’s culture where there are no absolutes allowed. This is followed by the best analysis I have ever read or heard on the Sermon on the Mount. I am impressed with Dr. Evans ability to speak absolute truth into today’s culture where nothing is “allowably” absolute. He encourages the Christian to know and maintain truth but in love. His pages on the Sermon on the Mount bring insight and understanding that make sense. It’s not just a list of “Beattitudes,” but a way of life. A path to become like Him. A masterpiece that should be required reading.

One thing that I’ve appreciated about Dr. Tony Evans over the years is his ability to “diagnose” problems and issues in the cultural moment. He’s done an amazing job with it yet again in “Kingdom Values.”

The first third of the book talks about just how far off the rails our society has gone, and about how we as Christians have sometimes contributed to it. In this case, he sees that the biggest problem that our society has right now is the total abandonment of anything that even resembles objective truth. Where do we turn for the Standard for truth? Spoiler alert: God and His will revealed to us in Scripture.

The latter 2/3 of the book is spent discussing the Beatitudes, and it’s one of the best teachings/ interpretations of I’ve ever read on that well trodden section of the Bible, and Dr. Evans ties every bit of it into our present day situation.

I’ll also note that for me, one of the best things about a Tony Evans book or sermon is that it is ALWAYS going to have Jesus as it’s central aspect. In my opinion, he strikes the perfect chord of how Christians should deal with a culture in crisis, as opposed to what I see as a very Godless and sometimes anti-Christ approach that is often adopted by relativity wealthy, overly white, “Progressive” Christians, some of which haunt my own denomination.

Kingdom Values is a Christian personal growth book by author Dr. Tony Evans. Dr. Evans is a well-respected Pastor and author.

Kingdom Values is organized into two parts. Part One: The Foundation of Biblical Character. In this section, Dr. Evans talks about truth and the Author of Truth. Part Two: The Components of Biblical Character. In this section, Dr. Evans talks about The Sermon on the Mount, breaking it down into one blessing per chapter.

I believe the author’s purpose is to inform the reader and the thesis is that with Kingdom Values comes blessings. I appreciate that Dr. Evans fills his book with lots of scripture to back up what he says.

Kingdom Values would make a great read for all adults. I give Kingdom Values 5*/5*.

I've been calling this my coloring book. No I am not demeaning it. I've taken to reading books with a highlighter in hand, and I could practically have highlighted this whole book. To say that Dr. Evans has written a book for such a time as this, would be a profound understatement. This book is a book that speaks to the times in which we are living. He starts off by looking at what the values of God's Kingdom are, and how we, as Christians, need to live them out. These chapters are powerful and convicting, and they hold up a mirror to our lives that cannot be ignored. From there Dr. Evans explores the beatitudes where Jesus calls out Kingdom values all believers in Christ need to pursue and live out. Evans does a deep dive into each of these topics and they are a challenge to each of us who claim the name of Christ. Tony Evans speaks the truth in love like few others in our world today. Sometimes it's tough love, but it's offered in love. This book belongs in every church library in the world, and every believer should read it. Yes, it's that good.

Review of Kingdom Values

Tony Evans’ new book, Kingdom Values, is both timely and relevant for today. His book begins with chapters on the issue of Truth—Biblical truth vs worldly truth. Worldly truth says that we each have our own truth; Biblical truth says that God provides the standard for truth. Chaos ensues when people see their own values and opinions as truth instead of relying on God.

The second section of the book goes through the Beatitudes from Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount. Dr. Evans skillfully explains their relevance for today. I was particularly moved and challenged by his discussion on hungering for God, the power in gentleness, and our need to mourn over our sin.

I highly recommend this book to all Christians because we tend to fall into the same traps regarding truth as nonbelievers. Dr. Evans has many great lessons to ponder in this book.

Actually, a very good book, as it was a bit unexpected. The first chapters are about truth, and then it shifts toward the Beatitudes in the Sermon on the Mount, and goes through them chapter by chapter. I'd like it to be a bit more philosophical when it comes to truth, but I did not expect that from Evans, so it is ok. As I have seen very few books by pastors delve into the beatitudes, it was a nice touch to the genre. This may be Tony Evans at his best, and if the other books in the "Kingdom" series is as good, I may read them as well.

I wish the Kingdom Values (the sermon on the Mount part) was longer. I feel like I need more info. Or maybe it’s so much info I need to reread it.

Have you ever wondered how the life of a Christian ought to appear to the world compared to an unbeliever? This book will help you see just that. It is not one of the more mature followers of Christ (although everyone can glean something from it), but instead it is written for a newer follower.

Tony Evans writes in a compelling manner that is not difficult to understand. Instead, the words flow from line to line and page to page. Character is the focus of this book and while the second half of the book is geared toward what this character looks like, the first half is just as important as he speaks to where we are in society today. Instead of simply jumping into the pillars of character, Evans wants us to see how things have degraded through culture and how we arrived at the point that we are in the twenty-first century.

Could this book have been more expansive? Of course; however, that would be beyond the intent of the book. Rather than a lengthy prose on the attributes, Evans decides to take us on a high altitude journey while also showing us that the way of Jesus is the better way of living compared to the world.

Overall, you could benefit from this book and it is one that I would recommend to a newer believer first. This was provided to me for review and the words are my own.
