Our modern life is hard. We all are juggling a lot of responsibilities--home, jobs, volunteer work, pets, social media, and more. It is hard some days not to feel anxious or concerned about things going on in our lives or even in the world, for that matter. Trusting God in All the Things by Karen Ehmen and Ruth Schwenk is an interactive devotional that offers encouragement to fill your life with the peace and strength that comes from God.
Each day's reading starts with a Bible verse in Trusting God in All the Things. Then there is a devotional reading that is written for today's women with real life examples that we can all relate to. Topics include: Not Enough Time, Surrendering Expectations, How to Want what you have, No Regrets, Its okay to rest, and many more that are relevant and encouraging. After the readings, there are a few questions to reflect on. Then, one of my favorite parts of these readings is the prayer. It isn't a blanket prayer written for everyone. Instead, it is a space for you to write a short prayer of your own based on the topic of the day. I like how the book is personalized that way. Trusting God in All the Things would be a book book to buy for yourself and it would also make a nice gift for a struggling friend or relative.

In Trusting God in All the Things, Karen Ehman and Ruth Schwenk have teamed up to write a devotional that will assist us in getting peace. These devotionals are meant to help us have a refreshing encounter with God each day. Each day they take turns by writing the devotional. Each day had a verse, a short story, questions, and a prayer.
Ruth begins by exploring the topic of stress and feeling overwhelmed. She shared how she had a few miscarriages, a husband diagnosed with cancer, her son applying to college. She explained how she had extreme stress and felt the burden of the overwhelming pressure. She revealed how Jesus was also overwhelmed and the stress of dying on the cross. The scripture verse for this day discussed how Jesus was in anguish and how He prayed and how His sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground.
Another favorite was when Karen discussed peaceful sleeping. She shared how they got a security system to watch and listen in on what going on around the house. She used this example to explain how Jesus will watch over us while we sleep. I have personally experienced nights of tossing and turning and not sleeping well. Many times, it’s because of how we worry about things instead of trusting God to protect us and take care of us.
I would recommend this amazing devotional to anyone who is ready to grow in their faith and they are tired of living stressed out. Each day had a personal story to give your encouragement that you aren’t alone in your struggles and challenges of life. The verses enclosed is to assist you in trusting God and obtaining peace no matter what we may face. I loved the blue and gold design of this book and how they had random gold dots throughout the pages. It was a very eye appearing color designing choice for this book.
"I received this book free from the publisher, Bethany House/ Chosen for my honest review.”
Ehman and Schwenk write in their Introduction that they have written these devotions to help us connect with God and experience His love and grace. We live in such a busy world we don't always take time to pause and seek the calm only God can provide. These devotions are designed to be the catalyst to help us connect with God daily.
The authors share personal stories and Bible stories as starting points for their devotions. While there is an occasional reference to a Greek or Hebrew word, the devotional content is mostly easy reading, suitable for Christians in any stage of their spiritual growth. Each daily reading begins with a short verse, then the devotion. Those are followed by a couple of comments or questions for journaling and finally, a prayer prompt. Ample space is given for written comments.
My favorite devotion was about mountain goats traversing dangerous and craggy paths. What makes them able to do so is their feet. “It is the Lord who strengthens us on any path. He gives us the right feet to keep walking...” (52) That is great encouragement for those on a difficult path.
The most challenging devotion for me was the one titled “We Need Less.” As a person who wants to know the latest, I was challenged by the suggestion we need less information, less comparison, less stuff. Like Paul prayed for the Ephesians, what we do need is more of God. (95)
These are good devotions for a 90 day journey in seeking a time with God and the calmness that can only come from Him.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher. My comments are an independent and honest review.
This devotional in physical book form, is interactive, write and respond, hardback book with gold accents on the navy/chalk white pages to appeal to women. Each of the devotions has a title, and the book begins with a table of contents of all the engaging titles. The authors took turns writing the devotions based on one or two simple verses to study for the day, then the author shares a personal connection, and helps the reader think aloud, reflect and apply possible responses to this biblical truth. The author also helps focus the reader on the achievable and beneficial application of the thoughts.
It's not a devotional for someone who is looking to be drawn into a deep scriptural study, think about greek or Hebrew words, or have a passage or other connected references to consider how God is present. It's meant to be a simple, mindset, life-giving focus on God's presence in the seasons of life when it's easy to lose that focus.
I find this book very appropriate for a woman who needs the peace and calm brought to her to focus her day and ultimately mind on who God is in her life moment by moment. It's a book for those seasons, days, and points in life where being able to have a wise older woman share her life story and thinking will help refocus your spirit. This book also can help you know you are not alone, you are loved, seen, and you can let God be your calm and peace in all the things, at all the times.
Thankful to partner with the publisher and review a copy.

I am reviewing a copy of Trusting God in All the Things through Bethany House Publishers and Netgalley:
Life can be a lot. Relationships are often hard, we have responsibilities piled on us. And it seems like all the things are distracting you from the very best things of all. There's little time left for yourself--or for connecting with Jesus.
It’s no wonder we are often left feeling anxious in our minds as well as hurried in our hearts. We desperately long for a calm amidst our clamoring duties, stacked schedule, and life's unexpected circumstances. But where do you begin?
More than anything else our hearts need a refreshing encounter with God everyday. Trusting God in All the Things offers women like you a way forward so you can experience the confident calm you crave.
These 90 encouraging devotions will help you face life with God's peace and renewed strength.
I give Trusting God in All the Things five out of five stars!
Trusting God in All the Things by Karen Ehman and Ruth Schwenk is a book of 90 devotions designed to help overwhelmed hearts find true calm. A calm that carving out daily time to connect with God provides.
Alternating between Karen and Ruth, these devotions touch on issues many women face each day. Some of the issues are disappointment, family, contentment, priorities, worry, plus much more.
Each devotion begins with a scripture. Following the scripture, either Karen or Ruth offers a devotional thought on how the verse applies to life. Two questions to ponder for personal reflection follow the devotional thought. A prayer with space to respond completes the devotion.
Through these short devotions, the authors offer the reader time to pause and reconnect with God for a little bit of calm amid the hectic of each day.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Bethany House for a fair and honest review, which is exactly what I gave.
I love the way the authors strive to show everyone’s life is full of challenges. The real beauty of life is in the navigation of our steps along the narrow, treacherous paths these challenges create for us. What peace my heart felt in knowing I wasn’t alone in having challenges in life or in facing the challenges. Trust makes the path achievable.
Each day scripture is given to anchor us in the truth of God’s presence, continually building our trust. At the close of each devotion, we are asked to reflect on our hearts and pray about the impressions left on the heart. This devotion is actually a life-centering journey travelled through each lesson of Trusting God In All the Things,
How hard is it to completely surrender to God things like financial worries, relationships, or even work struggles? In this book Karen and Ruth do an amazing job at addressing realistic, biblically centered ways that we can be reminded just how important it is to give ALL of these things to our Heavenly Father. The authors have done an amazing job at tackling 90 different ways that we can all become more centered and at peace with your faith journey as you turn your worries over to God. We were never made to carry all the burdens of this world, and certainly not made to carry them alone, "Trusting God in All the Things" reminds us of just that.
So many of the days stood out! I so needed Day 16! Recall button for your mouth! And Day 17… When Words are Hard to Find! Each day has Points to Ponder and a Pause to Pray. Day 23 was another… Repairing Broken Relationships. Many thought provoking and searching your heart for nuggets to apply to your faith walk!
I think I will plan to go through this devotional at least once a year. I will probably journal through it. I’d love to see how God works and grows me by reading through the journaled Points to Ponder.
I received a complimentary ARC of this book from NetGalley on behalf of the Publisher and was under no obligation to post a favorable review.

It's also a great one to give as a gift!
As someone who struggles with anxiety, this devotional brings so much calmness to me. It’s been very encouraging for me. The devotions touch on many different topics. Each devotion starts with a scripture, a short reading, two questions to ponder on, and then a short prayer. The short devotions only take about 3-5 minutes to reflect on and connect with God at the end of your day.
This book came in perfect time in my life. It is welcome in anyone’s busy life who longs for connecting to God: from handling trials, worry, sin, temptation to repentence, thankfulness, prayer. Both authors take turns in tackling subjects that we each face as christians. It has short chapters structured in verses, devotion, questions and prayer. Loved this book!
I enjoyed this devotional! It was very thought provoking and encouraging! I recommend this book for your devotional arsenal. I know I will be going through it again!
