Lucky for her, he's not giving her a choice.Jaime Donovan has loved Val for years, and when she breaks it off with her cheating fiancé, he finally has his chance. Christmas in Aspen is exactly what she needs to bring back her smile and heal her heart, and he has three days to do it. A steamy Christmas in the frozen mountains has the potential to be so much more, and when Jaime lays his heart on the table Val has to decide whether this boss belongs in her bedroom, or just the boardroom. This is a Love in Aspen novella and was originally published as All-In Aspen under the penname Maira James in the Stocking Stuffers anthology.
After Valerie is left heartbroken, Jamie is determined to show her a perfect Christmas, maybe even a little Christmas Magic. His devotion is absolutely beautiful towards Valerie which just made him so stinkin’ swoon worthy! The way he is patient, caring and surprising her with minor details that she didn’t realize he knew, had my heart swelling with excitement. Wonderful little Christmas story to warm your heart!
Here in the Pacific Northwest, we've been suffering a bit from a crazy heat wave, so it was a nice break from the heat (at least in my head) to enjoy this Christmas novella from indie author Sawyer Quinn.
A Very Bossy Holiday is a re-release from a previous Christmas anthology, but is being sold now as a standalone novella starting July 8. I'm new to author Sawyer Quinn, but after this quick romantic read, I'm definitely a fan. Read the synopsis, below:

For some reason, I thought this was a prequel of some sort, but it actually appears to be a spinoff from a previous book from Quinn, I've Got You. While I've Got You is a very emotional and dark romance, A Very Bossy Holiday is the complete opposite. Yes, there's romance, but the connection between Jaime and Val has just the right amount of sugar and spice to keep things interesting. It takes some time, even though this is a novella that spans only a handful of days, for our heroine to let down her walls enough to accept her love for her hero, which leaves the reader enough room to get to know each character and not feel rushed through the story. The pacing was just right, each chapter building up to that Happily Ever After we as romance readers love to experience.
My favorite part of this book was Jaime -- I mean, yes, he's gorgeous and an alpha and totally swoon-worthy -- but Quinn writes Jaime as a man of integrity, and a man who isn't afraid to show the woman he cares for that he actually cares for her. In today's Tinder-esque world, a man like Jaime is hard to find, so I definitely fell hard for his ability to express how he honestly feels as well as doing all of those little non-verbal things to show Val what she means to him and how he intends to treat her for the rest of her life.
Yep, I definitely added Jaime Donovan to my list of favorite Book Boyfriends. You're going to love him, too.
Get ready to swoon over Jamie. He will have your heart fluttering at everything he says to Val! Heck everything he is thinking too will make you swoon!
Val and Jamie have known each other a while. He is her boss, but there is more to their relationship other than boss-employee. They generally care about each other. When Val gets broken up with right before Christmas, Jamie doesn’t want her miserable around the holidays. He offers to take her away, make her forget about her loser ex. But when Val agreed to go, she didn’t think she would get way more than a quiet vacation away.
This was the second book I have read of Sawyer Quinn’s! I love how her writing grabs your attention from the first page. She writes really good steamy romance! This is a must read awesome Christmas romance story!
Most of this book climbs up that top hat... sometimes our feelings whoosh and roll, then we're twirling and the end of chapter 12 is that roll over rough water and we think we'll slip out and drown but then comes the end.. and it's pulling into the station at top speed the countdown.. is.. on... For some reason the boss employee tropes leave me with ethical questions but for some reason I didn't get any squick here. Maybe because it was obvious the torches were burning.
This is a novella, so I obviously can’t give away everything! So here’s what you need to know. Valerie Porter has been depressed ever since she discovered her fiancé was cheating on her, and Jaime Donovan is determined to change that. Despite the fact that he’s her boss, Jaime has secretly loved Val for years, and he’s tired of her not knowing. When Jaime whisks Val away to small town Aspen for a three day Christmas weekend, she must decide if she wants Jaime for a long weekend - or forever.
Quinn really knows how to write romance, and this novella was no exception! I loved how patient Jaime was with Val as she worked through her emotions and figured out what she wanted. He never forced her to do anything she didn’t want to do, and he was so caring and attentive to her. And Val, she was so strong, and I really admired her for it. Jaime and Val’s chemistry is completely explosive, and the fact that this is a novella does not take away from the depth of this story! I completely recommend!!!
The chemistry between Val and her boss Jamie is incredible. How they managed to hold their feelings back for so long is astonishing, once you get to know them!! They both seem to be on the same page in regards to their feelings for each other, but neither of them were ready to admit it. Val had to get through her own stuff, after finding her fiancé cheating on her, before she could move forward and give her all to another person, another relationship. The journey of her getting there, with the help of Jamie is swoon worthy. If you love Christmas and you enjoy a good love story, then this novella is for you. It was a quick read, with all the feels and some hot scenes thrown in. Christmas in July may be over, but who says we can’t enjoy Christmas all year ‘round? Grab your copy of A Very Bossy Holiday, cozy up on the couch and dive in!! Happy reading!!
Likes: I like how Jaime knew what he wanted, her, and was determined to get the girl. But he was also sweet enough to know not to push her so she didn't bolt.
Dislikes: I would have liked less past escort discussions. Also I prefer 1st person, but this did change POVs so all good!
Synopsis: A Very Bossy Holiday follows heartbroken Valerie facing her favourite season alone, after her fiancé cheats on her. And her boss Jaime, who now finally has his chance to show her how much he's loved her from afar for so long. His idea? To sweep her up to Aspen to spend Christmas with him. But will she fall for his charm, or will she always just see him as her boss? This is short, sweet and sexy love story, all wrapped up on a gorgeous Christmas HEA bow.
This was my first Sawyer Quinn book, and I can easily say that she's getting added to my "must read" author list now! Jamie and Val. Holy sexy Christmas novella!
Val is recovering from a really crappy engagement, when her swoon-worthy boss Jamie, is like hey -- come with me to Aspen for Christmas and escape reality for some Christmas magic. This is a short, steamy holiday read, and I honestly would love to say more -- but you just need to read it. Jamie is everything that makes this book magical. In a world of asshole Alpha males, he's a breath of fresh mountain air. The way he feels about Val and works to win her heart, is as endearing as it is sexy. I'll definitely be re-reading this one, haha!
The chemistry between Val and Jamie is hot! It’s easy to see Val’s attraction to her boss, while also being reluctant about getting into a new relationship so quickly after a harsh break up.
Jamie is relentless in his pursue of Val, while also respecting that she needs time to decide what she wants.
This is a great quick Christmas read that will make you want to get whisked away to the snowy mountains for a holiday.
Val a few Jamie have known each other for many years. Jamie has always loved Val from afar. Unbeknown to Val who recently discovered what a blowhole her fiancé was. Jamie invites Val to the family’s home in Aspen to celebrate Christmas. There they discovered that there is definitely something between them. I have to admit I really enjoyed this book. Thank you for letting me be part of your ARC.
I loved this adorable story. Val and Jaime are so great together, their chemistry is off the wall. This is a quick, low-angst story that is sure to make you swoon as you read! A great story for a little bit of Christmas Magic all year long!
