En sommer på Malta

Rate this book

Tina Danzey is an artist, the guardian to her three-year-old nephew Jack following the death of his parents and just getting over a break-up with her boyfriend Lee. She goes to Malta for the summer, to stay at the home of her friend Roslyn, whose family run craft workshops and whilst there meets up again with Brad, Roslyn’s brother. Situations in the past mean that Brad, also Lee’s friend, views her with some suspicion and when Claire, Jack’s other auntie, turns up out of the blue it looks as though Tina’s summer isn’t going to be quite so bright after all. A standalone ebook, originally a serial for The People’s Friend, this highlights Sue doing what she does best - pulling together a diverse and well drawn set of characters, inserting them into a believable and fully realised location and seeing what happens. As I’ve mentioned before, I prefer Sue’s novels to her serials (for a variety of reasons: I think she works brilliantly at novel length and they are, in her own words, a bit “hotter”) but that shouldn’t detract from the quality evident here. The story runs at a great pace, fully engaging the reader and you find yourself quickly rooting for the characters (and she does write children well), whilst luxuriating in the evocative descriptions of a sun-kissed Malta. A great read, ideal for the summer, I highly recommend this.

This is a lovely light hearted and fairly quick read. I have grown to love books by Sue Moorcroft and find them great books to sit and chill with.

This book is the story of Tina, who has become guardian to her 3yr old nephew Jack after her Sister and husband die. Tina takes herself and Jack off to stay with her friend Roslyn in Malta, who along with her family run a series of craft workshops. Tina takes up teaching day classes to students in one of the craft shops.

Whilst there, Roslyns brother also travels over from England after having a break from running his hotel in Oxford. Also Tina's other sister Claire arrives. Claire is paranoid about Jack being brought up by Tina and has her own thoughts on how he should be brought up which causes some conflict.

This is a nice chic-lit book, with the author describing her obvious knowledge of the beauty of Malta and it's people. The romantic tension between Tina and Roslyns brother and the tensions between Claire and Tina, are very well written. It is the perfect book to sit back and relax with. It's not a long book and I read it in a day, and it was a nice break from the normal thrillers I read.

Hun sørger derfor for at Rosa møder Zach.

I particularly enjoyed the characters in this sweet novella. Malta is described so invitingly, that it almost becomes a character itself!
''Tina Danzey has looked after her 3-year-old nephew Jack since the death of his parents. Enjoying a wonderful summer on Malta at the home of Tina's friend Roslyn and her family, Tina becomes a tutor for one of their craft workshops. Things become complicated when Roslyn's brother Brad arrives back at the family home, soon followed by Jack's other aunt, the over-anxious Claire.''
I enjoyed the setting so much that Malta is now one of my must-visit places.

A great short read that leaves you wanting to run away to Malta! .

This made me want to run away to Malta, it just sounds wonderful. The characters were great it ended perfectly but there's still room for some of them to return, I'd love to know if Claire stays in Malta, or does Lee get karma for his lies! I loved Brad and Tina's dance along the path to romance and becoming a family unit with Jack.
A great read as are all of sues books, she never disappoints :-)
