An insightful - at times critical, but mostly funny, realistic and easy to read description of the modern “Etat”, the institution of presidency and the way its most recent representatives have chosen to interpret it. Macron is depicted as a product of the French belief in meritocracy and values of the republic, combined with a need for heroes and a good amount of criticism - as long as it comes from the French, for the French.
I have not learned much about the person Macron, but quite a few details regarding his vision and actions in the last years and got a better understanding of the context in which the soon to come elections will take place. Which were the main reasons why I came upon this book in the first place and for which I warmly recommend it.

Einer der spannendsten, dichtesten, aber auch anstrengendstens Texte seit langem (mindestens, wenn man den Querverweisen folgt, was man hier sollte). Selten so viel gelernt wie bei dieser Lektüre!

Joseph de Weck erklärt Macrons "Dritten Weg" und arbeitet die Gemeinsamkeiten und Unterschiede in deutscher und französischer politischer Kultur für mich nachvollziehbar heraus. Vor dem Hintergrund der Präsidentschaftswahl 2022 begründet er (an den Ideen, Positionen und Handlungen Macrons zu Gesellschaft Identität, Wirtschaft und Macht), warum "eine zweite Runde Macron [...] Frankreich und Europa wahrlich guttun [würde]".
