When Scarlet finds herself in ancient Scotland near the MacClaren Keep, she must fight against the remnants of a past life she doesn’t remember, including her attraction to the handsome Scotsman who rescues her.
Professional jewel thief Scarlet doesn’t really care how she ended up thrust back in time to ancient Scotland. All she knows is it kept her from being arrested by the cops at her heels when she tumbled through the fog. But when she learns that several of the returned MacClaren brides are former law enforcement, it makes her sense of safety waver.
Kieran, former Keep guard and estranged cousin of the Laird spends his days raising hell in village bars. After losing his wife seven years ago in childbirth, he’s shocked when Scarlet appears having no memory of her former life as his one true love. But that’s not all she was. As cousin to English Lord Weatherby, she created scandal by marrying Kieran, a Scot, and there are those who won’t be happy to know of her reincarnation.
While Kieran tries to capitalize on Scarlet’s attraction to him in order to help her better understand their predicament and keep her out of trouble, dark forces who ended her life the first time wait in the wings to strike again and ensure this time, she doesn’t return.

I was pleasantly surprised by such a entertaining book. I would like to thank the writer for writing in the heroines, Scarlets age range of twenty four or older. I enjoyed the entertainment of the story’s plot and the romance. The romance between the characters started out as a love hate, but then turned to mutual understanding. I thought writing the storyline that way was awesome. The characters were whimsical and charming. The story reads at a fast pace. While at this pace I was able to follow where the story was going and the story continued to get better. I loved the writing and the excitement of the book.
This was a very good read. The well crafted blend of emotion, drama, action, suspense, danger and tension made the book easy to get into and kept me engaged. I liked Kieran and Scarlet and found them easy to root for. All and all, an enjoyable time travel romance that tugs a bit on your heartstrings and hits you with some swoon. This is my objective, review that I am posting of my own accord.
I hated the heroine of this book from first page to last page. The writing was great and I have never hated a book by Rebecca Preston, until now. The female was just a crappy person and I literally forced myself to read the whole book. I loved the series so one out of 14 isn’t bad.

Scarlet Adams is a jewel thief who is running from her life as it seems her ex-boyfriend Ryan and his gang have betrayed her! As it seems these might not even be honest cops but dishonest cops on the take! She knows if she is caught she will most likely be a dead corpse so she jumps off a roof and ends up in the 16th century and doesn’t really care how she got here!
Eons ago a witch placed a curse on a dozen men in the MacClaran clan, where they would devastatingly lose the loves of their lives! As Emily an English woman was supposed to marry her cousin this English Lord Weatherby and ran off and married Kieran. Sadly she died in childbirth seven years ago.
Kieran is shocked when he see’s his dead wife but he soon realizes she is a time-traveler who can’t remember her past. As she died in childbirth which is Scarlet’s biggest fear! Another coincidence is his dead wife’s name Emily was her mother’s middle name. Now Scarlet’s mom also died in childbirth just like Kieran’s wife Emily. Too many coincidences are connected to Kieran and Scarlett.
Rebecca Preston writes a story that immediately draws you in. It’s a fast paced story with the right amount of romance. A book I absolutely couldn’t put down and highly recommend!

Rebecca Preston’s “Highlander Guarded: A Scottish Time Travel Romance” is book 10 in this wonderful series. Oh my gosh, there is nothing I love better than a great time travel story and this one is fantastic!
Professional jewel thief Scarlet finds herself thrust back in time to ancient Scotland near the MacClaren Keep. Not caring how she ended up there since it kept her from being arrested by the police who were on her heels before she fell through the fog.
Kieran, former Keep guard and estranged cousin of the Laird lost his wife Emily to childbirth seven years ago and spends his days raising hell in village bars. When Scarlet appears he’s shocked because she the image of his deceased wife but has no memory of her life as the woman he loved above all else. Emily was also cousin to the English Lord Weatherby and their marriage caused a huge scandal because Keirnan was a Scot and she was supposed to marry Lord Weatherby.
I was caught between trying to savor and devour this story at the same time. Rebecca Preston writes an intriguing, compelling and emotional story with a really good storyline, interesting characters, a curse, suspense, mystery, betrayal, grief, drama, danger, chemistry and a timeless romance and love story. Though they were opposites, Scarlet needed Keirnan in her life . He was such a calm in her storm. If you have time travel, the Scottish highlands and historical romance this entertaining page turner is your ticket to another time and place.
Thank you Ms. Preston for this wonderful tale of romance.
Loved it! Somehow, this story feels lighter than the others in this series. I think that is because Scarlett is a no-nonsense kind of girl who has complete confindence in herself, and takes things seriously and not seriously all at the same time. Scarlett is a thief….a career criminal who doesn’t bat an eyelash at the fact that she finds herself in sixteenth century Scotland. The fact that she is the spitting image of Kieran’s deceased wife unnerves her though. Kieran is just adorable and clearly smitten. But … Scarlett is conviced that if she solves the mystery of what happened to Kieran’s wife, she will be able to return to her previous life in her own time. So using her skills as a master thief, she sets out to do just that. Kieran is beside himself, he knows she is not his lost love, but he wants to protect her, and wants her to fall in love with him. The relationship between these two is so much fun to watch. You can almost see her as a caged animal pacing back and forth, while he uses his hands and voice to soothe her. Lord Weathersby plays a major role in this story, but this time he wears a white hat. This is the tenth book in a remarkable series, that is clever and fascinating, with diverse characters and scenarios. Truly a joy to read!

Fleeing danger and not by being an innocent victim, Scarlet finds herself in the past in the MacClaren's territory. Her profession had taught her to survive extreme situations, so she tries to hide her past and take advantage of the situation she finds herself in. Kieran MacClaren recognizes her and with an intriguing mystery a pompous neighbor too. Eager for action and feeling again the euphoria of her prowess as a professional thief, Scarlet takes control of her actions and sets out to do what she feels is her skill. Took my attention Scarlet's situation that was very different from that of the other women who have come to MacClaren Keep. Not on the side of the law, cunning and with an attitude that left much to be desired, Scarlet adapts quickly, and it is through her emotional involvement with Kieran that she starts feeling that she belongs and leaves behind her fears. Her unique skills in the lot, were much needed to bring justice and closure and not only to Kieran. Interesting turn of events with an sleuth thief, mystery, strong emotions, romance and passion.
Scarlet Adams is a career thief and con woman. While running frm a cop in Philadelphia she jumps off a roof to find herself in a river … in Scotland…. In the 16th century. After going to an inn she meets Kieran MacClaren.
Kieran is guard at the local castle. While in an inn he looks over to see a woman who is the spitting image of his wife who died seven years previously.
Scarlet is not the first woman to come back in time to the MacClaren castle, so Kieran realises what is happening.
Scarlet is a very different woman to the ones that have come to the past previously. Being a thief, she doesn’t want to go to the castle. She stays at the inn for a while and continues her life of crime.
She and Kieran eventually get together to find out what happened to his wife those many years ago.
I liked the story and characters. There was a little action, intrigue, suspense and romance.

"Highlander Guarded" is another time travel page turner by Rebecca Preston. Scarlet is a modern day thief who finds herself in Medieval Scotland. Not long after arriving in Scotland she meets Kieran MacClaren at a pub. Kieran lost his wife several years prior and Scarlet is her mirror image. He goes on to explain the curse that involves the men of his Clan and the women from the future that are brought back in time. Given her past Scarlet is not keen on returning to the Keep with Kieran and meeting the other women. She also has no interest in becoming the replacement for Kieran's late wife Emily. What she is interested in is solving the mystery surrounding Emily's death. The story that ensues great, with well written characters, some serious moments, some funny moments, friendship, and of course a HEA. I continue to look forward to more from Rebecca Preston.
Scarlet Adams is running for her life. She is a jewel thief and her ex has betrayed her and he is after her. Like the other women sent back in time to medieval Scotland, this time travel saved her life, but thrust her into a world she never dreamed of. The MacClaran are cursed and Kieren MacClaran thinks Scarlet is his dead wife Emily, who was the English Lord Westerly's cousin. This is a book about betrayal, passion, second chances, and so much more. As in all the Highlander in Time books you are better off reading in order, but you could read as a standalone, Rebecca Preston does a great job bringing the reader up to speed on the story. But this series is so good and since you can read it or FREE with KU, binge read away. You'll love this series.

I loved this! There were so many things going on that kept the story jumping. Scarlet is on the run and just manages to escape getting caught by the cops. She is surprised to find herself thrown back in time. Kieran has been raising hell since losing his wife but when Scarlet appears and is the reincarnation of his first love, he is shocked. But there is an enemy in the past almost as dangerous as the cops in the present and Kieran and Scarlet will have to work together to fight the evil, learn their place in this world and find an HEA. Fast paced and likable characters, a story with twists and turns that keep you guessing what new problem they’ll encounter as they go along and a fiery attraction that they both appreciate (and so will you). There are references to characters from the previous books but I felt this worked just fine as a standalone (the other books are worth reading).
A great fantasy. A present-day thief finds herself in Scotland in this time-travel fantasy. You know what is worse she meets other traveler but they just happen to be former cops. That not so good but do you think that is the only things Scarlet must deal not a chance expect some other interesting twists. I liked the story and characters were great. Rebecca Preston writes such wonderful fantasy I love when I get the chance to read one. This is a book I highly recommend I hope you check it out. Scarlet was a very interesting and very different sort of character to be thrown back in the past. Having read previous stories in the series, I was interested to see how Scarlet would fit in. As a strong woman who challenges everything along the way, her actions and comments made me smile. The piece of history shared with Kieran was interesting as was the mystery around Emily‘s death. Overall this was satisfying read.

The tenth book in the Highlander In Time series a well written story that kept me turning pages. Professional jewel thief Scarlet gets thrust back in time to ancient Scotland near the MacClaren Keep, where she finds out the MacClaren brides are former law enforcement. She meets Kieran, former Keep guard and estranged cousin of the Laird. Their story has suspense, drama, danger, twists, turns, villains, and romance. The story was well worth reading. I couldn’t get enough of this awesome story. I loved all the action, adventure, danger, suspense, drama, and so much more. Scarlet is such an over the top wonderful character who doesn’t like to take orders, I truly can’t blame her. She has a very amazing mind, I love the way it works. It was great how Kieran learned so much about her and was able to fall in love at the same time. You absolutely won’t be disappointed with this book.

The 10th book in the Highlander in Time series Based on the premise that women from the future are sent back in time to give the men of the MacClaran clan another chance at love, the women being the double of the lost loves of the MacClaran clansmen
This was Kieran and Scarlet’s story, whilst not the best in the series Rebecca still gives you an enjoyable story to read and I’m looking forward to the next in the series

Another great book in this series. This one was a little different from the others but there still was a mystery to solve and a romance. There was quite a statement made of the fact that Scarlett was petrified of becoming pregnant and of childbirth in particular, but although she married Kieran this fear was not addressed, would have liked it to have been.

A female thief time shifting to the past and a highlander keep guard combined make a great story Then it is revealed there is more than one story!! I loved this well written, fun and fast paced book. The villain is not the villain and it just kept getting more and more intriguing. It was such a great read and gateway to so much more that first thought.
Emotionally gripping, heart pounding, action packed romantic adventure proving that love knows no boundaries including time..... Loved every exciting twist and turn in this heartwarming journey. An edge of your seat, emotionally thrilling roller coaster adventure from beginning to end. Great reading!
Just absolutely loved this book! It’s a can’t put it down storyline with interesting twists and turns. Scarlet, the time travel women,in this story she does it all on her own without going to castle. She really doesn’t get out of her own way till she has solved the mystery and finds they were all her friends all along. Great story!!!

This story is one where the heroine has a lot of issues to sort out & at the end had finally found a better life then the one she had, took her a while. This book & number 9 in this series is less the half the pagers of the previous 8 books, & many of the characters in the other books are missing. I'd like to know how they were going in the stories.
Arc review for honest review. Scarlett Adams a thief finds herself swept back in time to the 16 century after running from the cops. where she learns about the women everyone thinks she is. Awesome story she is definitely stubborn.
Excellent and entertaining read. I loved the fact that Scarlett is far from being a typical heroine, what with her being a hardened criminal and all. Falling for one of the laird's guards adds fun to the story. Well written and engaging, I adored this one.
I did not care for the female character Scarlett, I could not find her like-able as the previous women travelers. In addition I would love to know about the children each couple has or not have
