This was our first Desmond Cole book. I don’t even know why I reached for it. My kiddo is 4.5 years old, and I wanted to see if he had the attention span for a small chapter book, and this caught my eye. It was a hit, though! We read it every night the week we borrowed it from the library, and now the kiddo looks forward to borrowing new Desmond Cole books whenever we are at the library,
Fast-paced and funny, but very little thought put into the details of being tracked or attacked by living bubble gum. The resolution is also more or less a copout. Still, this had my son busting a gut.

This book was cute, but the ending was confusing. The illustrations by Victor Rivas are spot on in capturing the scene adding his own little flare, I'm sure.
