Brooke Blaine is a USA Today Bestselling Author best known for writing romantic comedy and M/M romance. Her novels lead with humor and heart, but Brooke never shies away from throwing in something extra naughty that will scandalize her conservative Southern family for life (bless their hearts).
She’s a choc-o-holic, lives for eighties bands (which means she thinks guyliner is totally underrated), believes it’s always wine o’clock, and lives with the coolest cat on the planet—her Ragdoll/Maine Coon mix, Jackson Agador Spartacus.
that was a lie. barely anything happened in this book, except for lots of sex, and the mcs hanging out together, while not actually talking about anything that’s even remotely important.
✨spoilers for books 1 & 2 incoming.✨
ugh, first of all, poor Kieran. the way Bash just ghosted him at the end of book 1 was eurghhh…😒
“i still couldn’t believe how things had gone down with Bash, and not just in the literal sense. i’d been happy with life, happy with MY life, until Sebastian Vogel strutted into it. now here i was left questioning every-fucking-thing.”
the miscommunication, or i guess i should say lack of communication in general on Bash’s part… it annoyed the hell out of me.🙄🙄
if you absolutely cannot handle miscommunication/lack of communication - i really don’t recommend this series.
i’m sorry, but Bash is just way too immature with the way he acts sometimes. he’s supposed to be this brave, powerful, rich, self-made man, who owns a tech company, but in reality, he literally just runs from anything that scares him. make it make sense.
i really wanted to slap some sense into Bash sometimes. you have a man chase you down to a whole other city after you ghost him, and still, that’s not enough for you to realise that this guy is REALLY into you???
anyways, the mcs hung out in South Haven for two weeks, while knowing that Kieran will have to go back to Chicago, because his whole life is there.
how many times do you think they discussed what happens AFTER those two weeks?? they did it ONCE, at the very end of the book, when it was basically time for Kieran to leave lmao.
“we hadn’t exactly talked about what would happen when i left this weekend, and i knew that if it was up to Bash, that conversation wouldn’t come up at all. which would leave us… where? would there even be an us? did he want there to be? did i? and even if we did, how would we make that work?”
you know how you could get ALL the answers to these questions?? COMMUNICATE!!! wow, what a strange concept am i right???!
“i was trying not to think about the fact that it was already Friday, or the fact that i had a flight itinerary for tomorrow sitting in my email. we’d both tried to stay busy, soaking in as much time as we could together and avoiding the elephant in the room. maybe if we kept ignoring it, it wouldn’t happen.”
you’ve tried to stay busy?? yeah?? doing what exactly??? having more sex??? yeahhhhh that’s a GREAT plan. just ignore all your problems!
but anywayssss, as i mentioned, they FINALLY fucking talk at the VERY end of the book. 🤣🤣🤣
✨end of spoilers i guess?✨
i’m usually better at handling miscommunication in the romance books i read, but something reaaaally set me off with this series. i think it might be the overall lack of actual overarching plot. like there was nothing that was preventing the mcs from actually talking to one another. if there was some actual storyline in this series, i would have enjoyed this WAY more. instead, i just got kinda bored around halfway through the book.
i guess i am curious enough to read the 3rd book just to actually finish the series, but god, this one was kinda painful and not in a good way…
This sequel was everything I wanted/needed it to be.
Where Dare You (book one) felt like a tasty little teaser, introducing readers to the lives of tech-billionaire Bash and hero firefighter Kieran—exploring how these two delectable characters began an unanticipated friendship and, eventually, entered into the exploratory stages of a scorching hot sexual relationship, despite Kieran’s inexperience with men—this sequel delved much deeper, proving stronger and more engrossing in all its moving parts.
The characters finally went beyond surface level deep, exploring feelings and vulnerabilities of these two men as they suddenly realise they want so much more from each other than either could have expected or predicted when they first met. Once Kieran had tracked Bash back to South Haven, after things got a little too real and a touch of miscommunication had occurred resulting in Bash fleeing, things started to look a little clearer and their relationship became more focused.
Bash and Kieran’s romance kicks into high-gear and quickly, this is true, going from the steamy exploratory lust we experienced in the first book and smoothly transitioning into some serious “I have feelings” territory, when Bash and Kieran begin to gather speed here, diving all-in despite the relationship roadblocks they face. It felt too smooth and too convenient at times, sure, but I didn’t need added drama or more conflict to truly enjoy myself here. Honestly, I couldn’t help but adore Bash and Kieran before all was said and done.
As is probably obvious after my book one comments, I was positively elated to see the setting jump from Chicago to Bash’s home ground, on the sun-soaked, small-town-vibe island of South Haven, Georgia. This place was like a third main character to me, as it was when I first read Brooke Blaine’s South Haven series (which introduced the island and featured the romances of Bash’s closest friends, who all wonderfully appear here as prominent secondary characters). Although I’m still irrationally sad that Bash didn’t get to have his romance play out within the series his character was born (and reigned) within, I’m so very grateful that this book brought everything back to the place it all began for Bash and his loyal readers. South Haven is truly one of those dreamy, seaside book settings that make you yearn for a holiday getaway, or even fantasise about what it would be like to uproot your life to start anew on an idyllic island town like this. I love this place, and hopefully Kieran loves it enough too. *wink-wink*
Naturally, this was a really enjoyable sequel for me. I may have come to this party for Bash, but I’ll admit I’m definitely staying for hunky, goes all-in like a champ and knows-how-to-treat-his-man-right, Kieran. Seriously, the guy is a dream on well-muscled legs and I am here for it!!!
*** I received an eArc from the author in exchange for an honest review.***
Dare Me is the next installment in the Dare to Try trilogy and focuses on the aftermath of Bash and Kieran's misunderstanding at the end of Dare You. Bash and Kieran are forced to confront their feelings towards one another and make a final decision on their future.
I loved this story and the further exploration of Bash and Kieran's feelings towards one another. Bash must come to terms with his fear of being vulnerable while Kieran must realize the depth of his feelings for Bash and what that means for defining their relationship. The miscommunication is cleared up within the first half of the story and the remaining focuses on Bash and Kieran's possible future together.
I look forward to Bash and Kieran making a permanent decision regarding their relationship and fighting for each other in Truth or Dare. This is such a fun trilogy and I love how perfectly compatible Bash and Kieran are together.
Gah, it's a good job there's only a month before the final book comes out because I'm already suffering from Bash and Keiran withdrawal symptoms.
I absolutely loved this instalment as Bash makes up for the seriously crappy way he ghosted Keiran at the end of book one.
It's steamy, of course, but it's also super sweet and has lots of wonderful conversation as both men come to the realisation that this is it.
They need to go big or go home and Keiran really doesn't want to do that and Bash isn't happy about letting him out of his sight either.
I think the narrative has worked really well to show how much Bash has knocked Keiran's world off its axis.
It's more than just a case of of experimentation though, everything about this relationship with Bash is new, but the most important part is that Keiran's found someone he wants to hold on to.
That's been the strength of the two books so far for me. Ella and Brooke have put in the groundwork for everything that Keiran goes through.
He's blindsided by Bash but it's more than just sexual, he's attracted to each element of his character and wants more.
With the (little bit) conveniently discovered potential relocation available for Keiran at a fire house not that far from the island, I'm looking forward to seeing how these two compromise on how to move into the rest of their lives together.
Oh, and how the rest of Keiran's family reacts to him potentially upping sticks 😁
#ARC kindly received from the authors in return for an honest and unbiased review.
Wow! That went by in the blink of an eye! Can you say whirlwind romance?
After Bash freaked out and ran … er should I say flew first class … he left Kieran more confused and in a world of hurt. I loved that they were messes without each other.
Bless Kieran and knowing what he wants and going after it.
In a moment of serendipity, Kieran finds Bash in a restaurant drunk off his ass, standing on a chair singing at the top of his lungs.
I really liked Bash’s friends, especially overly protective Shaw. (Is there a book for him and the rockstar?) But I liked it even more when Shaw brought out Bash’s protection of Kieran, it brought on home that this is real.
Then the fire department … we all know when things are too good to be true there’s little chance they are. Not the case in fiction so Kieran needs to grab the bull by two horns and ride the shit out of it!
Jesus, I’m ridiculously enamored of these men. I’m torn between savoring this trilogy because I hate to see it end and just inhaling it because omg it’s too freaking cute and I can’t get enough!
I am just loving Kieran and Bash! Kieran is definitely my favourite Bailey brother and I'm so glad he got a story because there was barely any mention of him in either Sean or Bailey's books!!
"Kieran sat down at the table, then he gestured to my seat, looked up at me, and mouthed, dare you".
Oh my, I totally love Bash and Kieran 💜💗.
Bash is such an upfront person, totally comfortable in his own skin, and yet his feelings for Kieran have really thrown him a curve ball. Equally, Kieran has always been so sure of his sexuality and now he is having to rethink everything because of the strength of his feelings for Bash.
Dare Me is book two in the #daretotry trilogy by Brooke Blaine and Ella Frank. It picks up directly where book 1, Dare You left off, with the bulk of the book set back in sunny South Haven, where we catch up with Bash's friends, who you would be familiar with if you've read Brooke's solo series🥰.
Bash and Kieran have to do some soul searching in this instalment, to see where their attraction is taking them, whether it's more than just an 'experiment' and whether they could be in it for the long haul. They both open up more to each other as a result. And yes, the steam level ramps up considerably too 🔥😈🔥😈🔥.
Thankfully we don't have long to wait to see whether our favourite razzle dazzler and firefighter get their HEA, as the final instalment, Truth or Dare, is due out in September 💗💙.
As excited as I was for Bash’s story as annoyed I am right now. I’m sorry but Bash’s and Kieran’s story could’ve easily been wrapped up in one book and it would’ve been a good one. I think. But this was disappointing. And boring. And immature. And unnecessarily dramatic *eyeroll
I don’t know about Kieran, but Bash deserved better than this. I wished he could've had a wonderful book in Brooke Blaine's South Haven series like his best friends Lucas and Shaw. I mean, it was already planned and titled as "A Little Bit Like Heaven". So whyyyyy *crying out loud
*********
And now, can we please talk about that brotherly advice phone call? So here is Kieran, about to have sex with Bash and want’s to make it good for him but has no idea how to go about it as he never done it before. Unfortunately the gay brother he wants to call is not picking up so he’s stuck with the other. And it was painful, humiliating really, for Kieran. I was cringing so hard. Was that supposed to be funny?
It kinda feels like a theme in this series after my complaints about Dare You. Sorry dear authors but I don’t need that in my romance.
I’m done with this series. I just don’t care anymore. Bye.
***And for everyone who doesn’t know, this is the lowest rating a book can get from me. So you know how I feel about it.
Remember how book #1 ended? Bash saw how Kieran was hurt on TV and he hurried to the station the next morning to check on him and there he saw this 'Badge Bunny' hanging all over him. That was too much for our Bash - he was afraid that Kieran was back to being straight. So he left. Kieran thought he would only leave for now and they would meet up again later - but nope - Bash left town. And Kieran - all shoulder-hurting and confused - follows Bash to his little Georgia island - South Haven.
LET THE FUN TIMES BEGIN! 🤣

💜 ADORABLE 💜
This second book was so adorable and funny! At first we're all hurt and confused of course, but once Kieran shows up on the island it gets super funny and adorable and Bash-y! And sexy of course! I just adored the moments with the friends and also the alone moments. We can't wait for our guys to finally get that happy end, but Kieran lives in Chicago and Bash on this beautiful island ... what will happen in book #3?? GIMMEE!
So, if you'll guys remember, the end of the first book left me feeling like this 🤬 when up until that I'd been feeling like this 😍
It was a pretty contrived and bad cliffhanger. Now this one still kinda has a cliffhanger, but more of the one I'm used to with these ladies. A question of what will happen next (quite literally) but not any ridiculousness going on with it. I have no worries going into the last installment.
Now, since we were stuck with that ending, the beginning of this had to, well, fix it. Part of me is annoyed that they dragged it out - by having Bash leave immediately, of course, back to South Haven, and these two spend quite a few days being miserable before Kieran just goes there.
It is like I predicted. I thought Kieran would either be oblivious and then see Bash's behavior and wonder about it, or he saw it and just didn't address right when it was happening. Kieran was fairly oblivious.
But I overall blame Bash. He was the main instigator in this dumbassery. Buttt Kieran in the beginning has a thought a long the lines of "was he ghosting me because of that Summer woman? Did he think..." blah blah blah. And it's like...dude, yA THINK? Kieran is a little oblivious, to be sure, but ultimately Bash is in the wrong.
I think, for the most part, the ladies managed to fix it. I'm someone who wishes there had been even more groveling, but what we got was sufficient enough for me to mostly get over the whole situation of contrived stupidity.
Kieran wasn't a happy guy and he wasn't Bash get away with what he'd done, and he called him out, as he should. Bash did sincerely apologize and admit his own mistakes.
So overall, I could mostly get past it.
And these two quickly got back to the wonderfulness they were before the ending of the first book. I wish some of the tension had lingered, but it wasn't too big a deal in the grand scheme of things.
My main reason for a star off was becuase...this actually, for being pretty short, got a big slow at one point? Because there was next to no plot after these two got past the main issue from the first book.
They were just...hanging out and falling in love. Which I love! Ultimately why I didn't take off more is because I so do enjoy these two together and they just have great chemistry and they work off each other so well. And their scenes of just hanging out individually were certainly fun and great and I enjoyed them.
it's just that strung together with barely anything happening - they barely even talk to to Bash's friends the two weeks that Kieran is there, except for Shaw near the end - meant that at some point it felt a tad repetitive and it got slow for me.
Things did change eventually as the question of how they continue a relationship when they live half way across the country from each other arises, and that makes for some juicy reading. It's just for that some part of this not much was happening.
Which I don't immediately see as a bad thing. I love character above all else in stories and if that stuff is juicy and good then I don't care if there's barely any plot. And for the most part this was that...but there was just a time where it just wasn't on point, and I found myself doing other stuff than reading it.
And I guess when you don't even have much of character drama or interactions going on for a long period of time, it starts to feel slow for me. At least in this one.
But otherwise, I enjoyed this a lot. I liked that these two moved forward in their relationship and started building a strong foundation for a long term relationship. There were some fun parts in this too, like when they went to the gay club and some sexy times happened.
My only wish that would have made this 5 stars would have been just more interpersonal drama, maybe, with the friends and all that, which we might get in the last installment, but...that makes for a middle installment that isn't as amazing as it could have been.
So overall, this was good. I was overall satisfied with the resolution to the stupid cliffhanger of the last book and the rest of this was overall enjoyable.
Since there is a cliffhanger again, although not nearly as bad as the first, I would say you don't have to wait for the third to come out to read this, but if you don't like cliffhangers of any kind, then I would wait for the third to be out.
Dare Me takes readers back to Keiran and Bash and gives us all the amazing moments between them. And also shares some angsty moments while they still try to work through what each other wants in their relationship. This time in the new setting of South Haven where we get some cameos from Bash' friends who are just as lovely as ever.
I still adore these characters and it was fun getting to see some role reversal in this book where Keiran was more sure about himself and what he felt for Bash. While Bash was the one questioning just what was between them. Even with so many fun and intriguing moments being shared I did feel like this was maybe too slow going. Especially by the end and knowing there's still one more book to conclude Keiran and Bash's story it all felt too drawn out and a little unnecessary.
ARC kindly provided in exchange for an honest review.
Wowza, things are heating up between Kieran and Bash—it’s not just the weather!
Dare Me picks up right where Dare You leaves off—note, you really need to read this series in order, so if Dare Me is the first book you’re planning to read, stop and read Dare You first!
I’m really buying into Kieran and Bash’s relationship. I love that there’s an under layer of friendship beneath the romance. Kieran and Bash really bring out the best in each other!
And I love the change in venue from Chicago to South Haven, so fun to catch up with that crowd too! Can’t wait to see what’s in store for Kieran and Bash in Truth or Dare! ~ Missy, 4.5 stars
ETA: I'm listening to this trilogy in audiobook format and I just love it! The narrators are great, I love them both. And I just love getting to read about Kieran and Bash falling in love all over again.
ETA 2: Definitely one of my favorites from these authors. Just listened to books 2 and 3 again and I just adore how sweet and sexy this couple is. This is just a fun trilogy!
OMG I just love Kieran and Bash together, so so so much!
This book picks up directly where book 1 ends, so you need to read this trilogy in order.
I loved this one even more than the first book, because we get to see Kieran and Bash grow together and just totally fall for each other during the 2 weeks they spend together when Kieran comes down to Bash. I love how their first meeting again was handled - what Kieran said to Bash, and how he laid it out there. I thought that was very well handled and thought from then on out, their communication together was excellent.
Also fun to get to see Bash in his normal environment and life, and how surprisingly well Kieran fits into that life. I just love these two so much - such a wonderful opposites attract whirlwind of a romance, and I am so, so here for it.
Can't wait for the Bailey brothers and their partners to give Kieran some major hell (in a loving, brotherly, totally making fun of him type of way) when he gets back!
I received an arc in exchange for an honest review!
[This review covers all three books in the series]
Well, this series was entirely too long and unnecessary. For real, what even was the need for this series to be three books long? It could have been one really good book maybe two but THREE??? Come on, girls! I know you want to make the $$$ but be serious, please 😅
I probably wouldn't have cared as much had I enjoyed the audio, but I didn't. It's nearly impossible to skim audio when things are dragging, so often it felt like a slog, especially the last book. Someone needed to come in with a weedwacker and get to chopping the whole thing. Editing, what's that? Book three was first draft throw it up there and see what sticks vibes all the way 💀
Don't get me wrong, the series wasn't horrible, but it just sucks when you know it could have been much better had it been what it needed to be instead of coming off as a cash grab. I liked Bash and Kieran. They were fun characters with great chemistry. The premise was good, and everything started off nicely. Book one could have been better, but book two picked up from there and things improved. All was well and good until book three which was completely dumb. Nothing but dumb decisions for days 🙄 Complaining and spoilers below just FYI...
Beyond the books themselves, I have no idea why I listened to the audio for this series when I find both narrators incredibly mid. Actually, I do know. The books were all super cheap on the last Audible sale, and I convinced myself it would be okay. It was not 😂 I knew it wouldn't be, but I didn't let it stop me, so this was completely a problem of my own making. Anyway, hopefully I've learned my lesson. Two meh narrators do not make one good narrator 🙃
As much as I love Bash, I don't think his story warrant 3 books. A lot of the scenes feel like filler. In book 2, Kieran is in South Haven. Yay! This was what I had been waiting for ever since I knew about this trilogy. We get to meet up with the gang, Lucas/Jackson and Shaw/Trent. We get to see Bash at his home turf along with his nossy protective friends. This is the best part of the book for me catching up with the previous couples because apart from that I feel the story of Kieran and Bash is simply too slow moving with nothing much happening. Their relationship is moving in the right direction and the ending is pretty satisfying with HFN, but nothing else happen beside them getting closer together. I still enjoy reading this book, but I wish it can be wrapped up faster.
My heart is so full with these two! Bash and Kieran make me so happy and I'm here rooting for them as if they are people I know in real life. Things hadn't been ideal at the end of the first book, so I was biting my nails to see how things would be fixed between my guys. And oh boy they didn't disappoint.
What I love about this series of books, is that they are fast paced, sweet and hot. Let me also mention that I love the personalities of these characters and how different one is from the other. Apart from the palpable chemistry that brings the scorching hot scenes, the feelings are so apparent to the reader and it's just so sweet and wholesome.
I'm so happy with how things ended on this one and I'm looking forward to the next and *snifs* final book on this series!
Where do I start? What went wrong here? I don’t know. I don’t know what I expected but this was most definitely not how I imagined book two to be. I understand Nark’s review much better after having read the book.><
So many cringe moments, yeah? - Fireman’s pole - Love in two weeks - Mayor and firechief(seriously?) fantasy - Sex sex and sex all the time
After drunk-deciding a flight to South Haven, Kieran spots the man he went in search for on a random beach(because yeah that happens under fate). He gets pissed, they leave for Bash’s home, where he doses off. They discuss everything the next day, and kiss and make up. They go for an outing every now and then, come back home, have sex. I didn’t even notice the first week’s end, I skimmed along that much. This was kinda like a cycle. Same over and over. Then they finally decide to “talk”, because man, talking about the big elephant in the room was so damn hard, when they could just get horny and have fun.
I have a huge meh look pasted on my face right now. Seriously don’t know where this is heading. I didn’t read through the last few chapters so I might have some difficulty getting into book three, but hey, I’d rather not go through book two ever again.
Dare Me is the second book in the Dare to Try series by Brooke Blaine and Ella Frank. After the ending of Dare You book one, we find both Bash & Kieran a bit heartbroken.
Bash knows not to fall for the straight guy but sometimes even having the best wall built up even a little light can shine through. Kieran was that light and even though Bash knew how things would go he couldn't help it. Now that their little tryst is over, and Bash is back home in South Haven he can't seem to let go of the sexy firefighter who turned his world upside down. His friends know that something is going on but after giving him ample time to mope they have dragged him to brunch. If he is going to be dragged to brunch, then he is going to enjoy it and get smashed. It is after several glasses of champagne that Bash swears, he sees a familiar set of shoulders amongst the crowd. He must be imagining things because there is no way that Kieran could be in South Haven, could he?
Kieran doesn't have any idea why Bash up and left Chicago, but he knows he can't get the sexy guy or his heels out of his mind. He has never been attracted to a man before but that isn't the problem there is something about Bash that just calls to him at a deeper level. After being injured and going all ragey on one of his co-workers he has been put on a two week leave of absence. He can't sit around the house that long doing nothing and wondering what Bash is doing. When he finds the business card Bash gave him after a drunken night, he books a flight to find out exactly why Bash left and if this thing could be real.
Kieran confronts Bash but he is far too drunk to have this conversation but the next morning they are settling this once and for all. Bash wakes to Kieran sitting across from him and realizes that last night wasn't a dream and he is here. Why would he be here though?
As Kieran and Bash work through their misunderstandings they both start to realize that just because something doesn't seem like it should work doesn't mean it won't. Is two weeks enough to fall in love? Bash & Kieran have plenty of problems to work through most importantly their difference in location but for love can they make this work?
Ella Frank & Brooke Blaine are the duo you need in your life! Their books always have a way of pulling me in from the very first page and this book was no different. Getting more of Kieran & Bash's story was so wonderful but now I need the conclusion. One more month and I will find out of their love really can conquer all the obstacles in their way.
Book #2 in this trilogy. Chicago and South Haven, GA. We pick up where we left off, with firefighter Kieran who is injured and tech guru, Bash, who left town, back to Georgia. After a punch is thrown by Kieran to homophobic Sanderson, Kieran is on a plane from Chicago to see Bash/Sebastian. Kieran refuses to just let him go, he wants answers, but now, he's on Bash's territory, interesting things are about to happen.
I adore these men, so cute and sexy together.
After serious conversations, sleep and food, they go to tour the island. This is Bash's home and chosen family place. Kieran is enamored with the island vibe. The talks got deeper, being together was terrific, and soon the sexy times resumed.
The were uninhibited, raw, passion-filled, with sizzling sex and more hot firsts for Kieran. He calls and asks his brother for sex tips, and proceeds with confidence. This GFY story gives us hope, happiness and joy in their relationship, along with the intense decisions that need to be made.
We get humor, sass and sexy men, having a wonderful time together. Plus this is well written and fascinating. These stories must be read in order, and do not stand alone. #3 is Truth Or Dare, which I'll be jumping right into. ENJOY !
[ I received a digital arc for an honest review] Dare Me , book two in the Dare to Try series by Brooke Blaine and Ella Frank, is a direct continuation from book 1 in the series. I will keep my review as spoil free as possible, but my review is going to come as no surprise to those who know my thoughts on book 1.
At the end of Dare you, Bash makes some very reasonable assumptions and immediately leaves Chicago and return home to Georgia. This leaves clueless Kieran heartbroken and confused, and he drunkenly decides to buy a plane ticket to Bash's hometown. When Kieran tracks down Bash, they talk it out and spend the next two weeks exploring their connection. At the end they have to decide where to go from here, whether that be a move for one of them or a long distance relationship.
Alright this book was 75 percent filler, and I'm calling it right now, this trilogy could have been one quality book on its own. Kieran and his confusion over why oh why Bash would have left is frustrating, and I felt zero sympathy for him. Bash and Kieran together are sweet, fun, and steamy which carried over from book 1. Thankfully this time we didn't have to deal with Kieran's personality around his friends and coworkers, so that was a plus for me.
Overall, Dare Me was less frustrating than the first book, but boring in my opinion. It includes steamy bedroom interactions, car rides exploring South Haven , a night out at the club with friends, and making decisions for their future.
Better, way better! This is far from being a literary epic romance novel, but it's simple, fresh, sassy, low-angst, and has Bash, so I feel like a winner at the end of this***
Bash owns every book with so much pride, sass, flirt, sweetness, and flirty remarks that it just blows my mind! He fills the world. I love the descriptions of his outrageous outfits and the way Kiernan loses his mind with each one! Knowing his insecurities also adds more depth and complexity to the story.
I loved this one, and yes, finally, Kiernan goes and gets what he wants... leaving our boy happy, scared, and on a spoiling rampage! But I think he has to man up a little, and well, don't let Bahs's friends walk all over you, please! Man up lieutenant!
Their relationship really solidifies in this one; they come to the conclusion that together is better, and in South Haven, everything sounds better! Let's see if they make it work.
Kieran and Bash are such a lovely (unofficial) couple and I really enjoyed reading part two of their story. I’ve read a few reviews complaining about how this book was mostly filler and, yeeeah, it kind of was. Since I wasn’t in any rush to get through this, I didn’t mind but I can see how that could annoy someone.
The beginning was a little hard to get through mostly because of Bash’s refusal to talk to Kieran about his fears regarding their relationship. It was hard to accept that a person as driven and put together as Bash would run away from such an important conversation but I guess, in the end, he was just scared he’d get his heart broken and running away was easier than being told he wasn’t wanted. Him thinking that Kieran had a girlfriend didn’t help either.
When Kieran showed up in South Haven to force Bash to talk to him, Bash apologized and they agreed to spend the remaining two weeks of Kieran’s suspension together. The rest of the story follows them around as they go on various dates and outings on the island. After a hilarious conversation with his brother, Sean, asking for advice on how to have sex with a man, Kieran finally feels confident enough to have sex with Bash. (And just so you know, that conversation alone made reading this book worth it. It was so cringey I had to read it with my hands covering my face…)
The day before Kieran has to go back to Chicago they admit that they love each other and want to stay together. The only question that remained was who should move where. Honestly, the events of this book could have been condensed and added to either book one or three but I’m not complaining. It was short and it was nice seeing all of Bash’s friends. I definitely plan on reading their stories in the future.
