Would you like to read a story of a family across generations? The three pillars of the Dev family will tell you their story – grandfather: Mulkraj Dev, son: Raj Dev, and grandson: Inder Dev.

The story will take you on a worldwide journey focusing on Raj Dev and Inder Dev's lives, exposing the schemes and betrayals of their business and profession. The book has a broad scope portraying the life of men of the Dev family dealing with different issues in their life and work. The author did justice with the portrayal of their personal and professional space.

A family saga that comes alive as you dive into the pages reveals a new dimension of morals and values. The three generations of the Dev family come to tell you a story of eternal love, luxuries lifestyle: what money can't buy, illegitimate promises: through the ages and love across borders. With electrifying cover and engaging storytelling, this book is a perfect read for the weekend.

This book was a decent read ! I love reading family sagas of different generation , spanning over multiple years and geographical locations and for the same reason I picked up this book . The characters were well written and their love , betrayal , toil and sacrifice were portrayed very well.

The writing was lucid however I feel the book needs to have been better edited . It is also quite slow paced and unnecessarily long at some parts..

The book could have been much shorter and conveyed the same story with stronger essence nevertheless this was a great journey wit the Dev family . I will definitely read more books by this author when I can .

Times change, so too perceptions
Life a wave that sees generations
Travelling through a sea of changes
Adjusting and adapting they move on
Only to build a foundation
For the next that’s waiting to be born

‘Lica’ is a story spanning over three generations. It delves into the personal and professional lives of the main protagonists MulkRaj Dev, Raj Dev, and Inder Dev, and takes us on a journey that is not only interesting but gripping at times. Though a family saga this one has a touch of the paranormal too.

While Mulkraj is a successful lawyer with high connections, his son Raj Dev is his complete opposite. A brilliant lad Raj turns out to be a successful surgeon. Raj’s son Inder Dev on the other hand has an eye for business. The shrewd one Inder turns out to be a high profile hotelier. So, what is common among these three? Their passion and commitment towards their chosen field. All three chart a successful career. However, on the home front things are a bit different. To know more about the Dev family you must get your hands on the book. 🙂

Packed with an interesting plot and riveting narrative the book had the reader in me hooked. Yes, at times I did feel that certain parts could have been cut short without affecting the flow.

The imagery drawn up by the author is powerful enough to conjure up the scene of action and the characters right before the reader’s eyes thereby making the reader a part of the narrative as a silent observer. The cast of characters, a good measure, are well-developed and dexterously woven into the story. Karma is also seen slowly entering the portals of the Dev residence and making her presence felt.

A tale of passion and perfection, ‘Lica’ also sees lust and greed play an important role. In fact, ‘Lica’ is a canvas that has varied shades of human emotions splashed across it. The canvas is large, but the detailing is fine making it a one of its kind.

💫Talking about the title of the book , the title of the book is basically based on a Character name as Lica Solomon.

Book: Lica
Author: Hitesh Trehon

Book Description:

“In LICA, Hitesh Trehon traces the story of three generations of the Dev family – grandfather Mulkhraj Dev, son Raj Dev and grandson Inder Dev – with the focus on the latter two. The scope of the novel is ambitious and takes the reader on a worldwide journey into campus life, art, medicine, business and the interactions of the characters, exposing the schemes and betrayals of each profession and the fallout for Inder Dev.

Trehon made his first attempt and the result is LICA, a fast-paced narrative that hooks you from the very first page.”

        - Saleem Peeradina, emeritus professor at Siena Heights University, Michigan, and author of six books of poetry, a memoir, essays, and an anthology.

“The gripping saga about the lives of three men from three generations of Dev family hooks you in from the very first page. LICA is a stellar outing from Hitesh Trehon, whose debut as an author should inspire story-tellers everywhere.”

        -  Sabrina Dhawan, screenwriter of Monsoon Wedding, Ishqiya and Kaminey. She is also a professor and the Area Head of Screenwriting at The Goldberg Department of Dramatic Writing, Tisch School Of The Arts, New York University.

“Entwining cultures and continents, this three-part saga adds new dimensions to a portrayal of the morals and values of the three generations of the Dev family. The issues of inter-racial adaptability, karma and lifestyles is brought out beautifully in the compelling narrative by Hitesh Trehon who has navigated through the same aplomb.”

        - Odette Mascarenhas, award-winning author and TV host from Goa. She is a story-teller who works on the narratives of the ‘hows’ and ‘whys’ and a culinary chronicler who delves into the art and science of food preparations in our local kitchens.

Review: I'd give this book 4 stars, the story was amazing and it very much felt like a bollywood film.

The best thing about it was how things were described, which made you imagine the scene. It's been quite some time since I've read such book, which had elements of Indian culture and drama. All over, it had a brilliant plot and I'd suggest to pick up this one.

Lica by Hitesh Trehon reminds me of the movie Kal Aaj Aur Kal. The film features three generations of the famous Kapoor family. It highlights changing dynamics of the family with each generation and the thick fog of differences of opinion between them. Hitesh Trehon has written Lica with the same concept focusing more on career and love in the life of three men from different generations of the same family.

The story revolved around the personal and professional lives of Mulkhraj, the grandfather, Raj, the father, and Inder, the son. They were lawyer, doctor, and hotelier respectively by profession and extremely passionate to scale in life. Their work ethics were more or less similar, but approaches and perceptions towards handling passion differed. Mulkhraj was ambitious. Raj was more content among the three, while Inder was on a rampage to conquer the Hotel industry. Their love stories would also catch your interest.

The book reads like a saga about the achievement of these three men and women in their lives. Their stories are without many hurdles or downs in their life. In other words, only peaks and no valleys. Despite it, the saga gripped me. I got addicted to the author's effortless flowing narrative style like a wild, free-spirited river eager to meet the ocean.

The novel has a massive ensemble of characters. All of them have their space and role to play. But most of the characters, including the leading ones, were well-rounded and fully developed characters. The author sketched them with perfectness, and they hardly evolved throughout the story. There was some scope in Inder’s story. Inder’s character was not close to perfection nor his story. I was expecting some high voltage family drama, but sadly, it was thrown away by the author.

Why the book was titled Lica is a mystery to me? It remains unsolved even after finishing the book. She plays a minor role but ends up with a big task to keep the legacy of Dev's family going.

I would recommend Lica by Hitesh Trehon if looking to read a fast-paced family-based fictional novel with romance.

♦️Book narrates the lives of Dev family
👉Mulkraj(grandfather)
👉Raj(father)
👉Inder(son).
Career choices, women, achievements and little of their struggles are mentioned. They are quite hi-fi types. All the three have a well defined and successful career. You can find Independence related things during the narration of Raj's story. Raj's mother was in support of Arun and Stella relationship but completely different when it comes to her son, that part irked me little, but still even now these things exist!! Its quite a lengthy read.

♦️Well developed and medium paced plot with vivid narration. At somepart I felt that certain aspects are over descriptive. There are occurrances of over romantic/ erotic contents. Numerous characters come along, but it did not confuse me, that's a plus indeed! A pleasant and charming family saga.

The story revolves around the intergenerational drama, where Mulkhraj Dev (grandfather), Raj Dev (son) and Inder Dev (grandson), are the members of Dev family. The story brings us the difference in each era and the challenges of each generation. Inder, just like the other young lads steps out to study and establish himself, the readers will witness how he sees life and how he's treated back. The new generation love is the beautiful highlight of the story and then finally Lica, the influential character of the story takes charge. Lica is the depiction of a focused and empowered woman. The story further includes erotic love making descriptions. The readers will find this as an ultimate hierarchical account of a family and the various characteristic which revolves around them like love, spark, betrayal and evolution. The readers will love this whole new experience, new challenges, love, and new age problems.

I heartily enjoyed reading the story, the author has mastered the art of creative writing, I was really able to line up along with the well performing characters. The protagonist is strong and influential, and her description and deeds are the justification for her name as the story's title. The plot and the background are creatively presented. It took me five to six days to read the whole story and I was able to connect with everything the author had mentioned. The cover of the book is vibrant and captivating. Kudos to the author for his kind efforts and prestigious work.

You all must read this sensational book. A perfect pick for the people of every age group. The new readers should definitely not miss this. Make this your leisure time read and kick out the mediocre vibes, because this debut book by Hitesh Trehon will leave a long lasting impression. Hurry up! grab your copies now and don't forget to share it with your friends.

We carry a generation within us, as readers, as writers, as people believing in the power of stories of the past. It's always interesting to see why something works the way it is. The designs and patterns of generations are alive in some alleyways, some abandoned houses, or some unsaid stories.

For this sense of generation, I picked up Lica by Hitesh Trehon. It follows three generations of an Indian family - the Dev family. As I read along, I noticed the attempts of the author to make space for conversations, events, emotions that brewed around the Independence Of India. Woven mainly around Mulkraj's son and grandson - Raj and Inder, this book has keen details of the past era. The writing is crisp. Through Raj's character, living in London during those times is portrayed. How his skin color not being brown was of relevance is emphasized. I could sense the era somehow. Also, Raj's mother initially spoke in favor of respecting children's choices of marriage. But, when it came to her, she found it hard to implement. This I felt is relevant to how people, in general, fail to come to terms with what they preach others to do. And, about Inder, I couldn't think of him doing all that he did.

However, I couldn't quite get along with this book being a 533 paged read. The detailing felt unnecessary, the conversations repetitive. I couldn't understand the point of excessive descriptions of routines and basic choices that added no relevance. Many times, I felt the author wanted a variety by commenting on anything that seemed to be debatable without adding anything relevant. And, oh the stereotype of being a perfect daughter-in-law felt forced. There was the possibility of making it a lovely read had it been a bit concise and genuine concerning representation.

Overall, didn't enjoy it and found portions of it problematic instead.

You have everything you need. Choose to evolve. Choose love." With every new generation there comes a whole new type of lifestyle and challenges. Greetings! dear readers, this creatively fabricated story by Hitesh Trehon brings the life of three people from the same family and different generations. This book is an amalgamation of contemporary romance and historical fiction.

It is the story of three generations of the 'Dev' family. Starting with Mulkraj Dev , a successful and well known lawyer, his son Raj Dev , who perused medicine and the grandson - Indra Dev, a businessman by professional. Filled with themes of ambition, passion, legacy and fuelled by love stories so full of obstacles and drama, this book really captures well how each generation have their own problems to deal with and how different the solutions are.

I love how the book described serenity of England and diversity of India. It has bound different generations, cultures and countries together and talked about how one's life is unique and the problems that come along with it is unique too! You struggle, you wrestle and at the end you may win or lose but you must try.

I want to add that this book contains mature content (written in not so refined manner) so reader's discretion is advised. Also, trigger warning : body shaming is present in quite a few portions of the book.

I really liked how the author has focused on each character though at times I felt that the descriptions were sometimes unecessarily lengthy which bored me a bit. The reason behind the title of the book is well explained and you have to read to find out!

Written in an easy to follow language and medium pace. This book was an overall okayish read for me.

In 'LICA' by Hitesh Trehon we follow the journey of the three generations of Dev's family, starting from Mulkhraj Dev (grandfather) to Raj Dev (son) and ending with Inder Dev (grandson). It's a story of ambition, passion, scheme and politics that defines the Dev's family legacy. In this journey of the three generations of Dev, we see how each of them went on with their own ambitions and had achieved success in their own fields. Mulkhraj Dev was a successful lawyer. His son Raj, who denied any temptation towards this profession, went to pursue medicine and later on Inder (Mulkhraj's grandson) became a successful businessman. Adding spice to the story, each of them had a unique love life that is surely full of struggles and wrestles. To sum up, 'Lica' is a full pack family history book with some sprinkle of love and drama in it. Also, strangely why this book is named as 'Lica' after a girl, is puzzle that you have to find out only if you read this book.
.
I have mixed opinion on this book. There are few things I really like about this book, like the focus on the individual life of each character, and attempts to introduce historical facts. But at the same I felt there were few unnecessary descriptions of situations which made this book much more lengthy and also the dialogue framing was not much impactful.
.
Overall, it was a nice read for me. The pace was medium, neither too slow nor too fast. The language was easy to get into.

A journey of love, passion, betrayal and loss spanned across three generations, Hitesh Trehon has poured his emotions out in the book. Each character is layered, and each story is beautifully fleshed out. The story is set against the backdrop of the 1940s when India gained independence, and the narrative then evolves with the changing times and places.
Following the three generations of the Dev family that form the emotional core of the narrative, Lica is a story of Mulkhraj Dev, Raj Dev and Inder Dev. It follows their life stories across their achievements and struggles, love and professional lives, and the beauty of daily mundane things. The descriptions are nuanced and Hitesh has delicately balanced all the elements in the narrative.
What makes this book a must-read are the cultural dynamics and the generational timeline. The book explores the vibrant tapestries of India, the cosmopolitan allure of London, and the enchanting landscapes of Scotland. Although the book is too long, spanned across 500 pages, which makes it boring at times and difficult to work through. In addition to this, the story often feels dull at times when the pace slackens and fails to maintain a consistently gripping momentum.
In its entirety, Hitesh Trehon's 'Lica' stands as a must-read, a vivid saga that intricately intertwines love, passion, betrayal, and loss.

Lica by Hitesh Trehon is fast-paced read, that is mainly about the three generations of Dev family.
I absolutely loved the in-depth description of each and every character in this book, I could totally imagine these all of them top-to-toe, going about their daily lives.

The author has perfectly narrated the concept of generation-gap amoung the grandfather Mulkhraj Dev, son Raj Dev and grandson yinder Dev.
It is amazing how fresh perceptions and new dimensions are brought in by each generation, but the core essence remains the same.
In this case, Mulkhraj is a lawyer, Raj is a doctor and Inder is a hotelier, but the common aspect among all three is their hunger to ace their mark in their respective careers.
Mulkhraj is very ambitious and Inder seems to be a little greedy in becoming the kingpin of hotel businesses, whereas Raj can be seen as the contented man.
While this is about the professional lives, there is an even better saga in their personal lives.
This book has love, betrayal, passion, ambition, perspectives, toil and many more aspects in perfect proportions.
I can guarantee that, once you get your hands on this, you'll not drop it until you complete!!!

I really enjoyed this book. I read it over the course of a couple of nights, and had to keep reading. I needed to know what happened, and it came to a satisfying conclusion. ❤️

LICA the story of three generations of Mulkhraj, the grandfather, Raj, the father, and Inder, the son. They were lawyer, doctor, and hotelier respectively by profession and they are extremely passionate and hardworking in their life. ✅

Their work ethics were more or less similar, but approaches and perceptions towards handling passion differed. Mulkhraj was ambitious. Raj was more content among the three, while Inder was on a rampage to conquer the Hotel industry.

Also Their love stories is full of roller coaster ride, and also so much fun .

Excellent plot with great characterisations. Many twists, few of which I saw coming. 💃🏿

Highly recommend it to anyone who likes reading novels.I look forward to reading more by this author. ✨

Lica is a story that follows three generations of Dev's family. That are Mulkraj Dev, Raj Dev (son) and Inder Dev (grandson).  We get to know more about Inder dev compared to the other two. The story flows in a well constructed way. The pace is a bit slow yet the author managed to hook us until the very end.

Inder Dev faces lots of issues one such is his love affair. I loved Maryanne, mother of Inder Dev. She is a compassionate, kind, loving woman. The characters are well written, they have their play in the story. Each character made the book realistic.

Author has done an amazing job in narrating the difference in the generation gap. Each character brings a new perspective I truly appreciate that. The similar character in these three characters would be their hunger and ambition to set a strong foot in their respective careers. We get to see both professional and personal life that adds on as an advantage to shape our perspective.

I would recommend. Happy reading 🌸

LICA by Hitesh Trehon📚

Lica was a book that talked about 3 generations of a family. It was bit of both contemporary and historical fiction. It was mammoth of a book traversing different countries, generations and culture. It talked about the beautiful and scenic England and the diverse nature of India.

The characters in the book were either too good to be true or a bit too grey. My favourite character in the book was Raj, he was doctor. His son Inder was Hotelier. While the grandfather Mulkraj was a lawyer.

Raj falls in love with a Scottish girl called Maryanne and the first half of the book concentrates on their love and careers. The latter half of the book focuses on one of their sons, Inder who was highly ambitious. The book goes into detail about everyone's sexual escapades. But I felt that it could have been written more tastefully.

I also had an issue with the constant body shaming that was present in various parts of the book. The need to be slim in order to catch a good husband was emphasized which is not something I liked. The book was a few 100 pages too long, the story could have been more concise to attract the attention of the audience through out the book.

Overall, the book was a decent family saga.
