Shaking off the recent loss of his mother, Gavin meets his new partner, Evelyn, in the early morning. Another body has been discovered, in a cemetery.
Strapped to a marble obelisk, this time the victim is horribly beaten and even decapitated. Almost immediately, they learn the victim is, the police commissioner’s son. Unfortunately, Gavin knows the victim all too well from a drugged encounter at Quinn’s months earlier.
While the case steadily unravels, he realizes the other victims are also connected to Quinn. Despite his best efforts, Quinn brutishly deflects Gavin’s inquires over and over until he is forced to investigate his captain.
At the same time, seemingly forgotten letters from his father falls into Gavin’s hands. His mind reels over the implications. Even in the murder of his father, Quinn was involved. He begins to question the nature of his unusual relationship with his captain.
As a result, he digs deeper into Quinn’s life. Gavin discovers secrets Quinn have hidden. Secrets that Quinn can no longer hide from. Secrets that Quinn will be forced to reveal and reconcile.
In the end, Gavin will discover many truths. And all will be revealed, but, at what cost?

Gruesome murders and corruption are front and center in this final installment of the Gavin Nolan Biography series by Author Russell. Mutilated bodies are turning up unexpectedly in the cemetery, morbidly displayed on the gravestones, taunting the police investigators. Lieutenant Gavin Nolan and his colleagues are in a race against time to find the fiend before another victim is killed. Most disturbing, the murder victims have a common tie to the force; the boorish, police captain with a dubious reputation and gruff demeanor, Quinn Creighton.

As Gavin and his partners delve deeper into the case, it's soon apparent there are underlying coverups the brass want to remain hidden, some pitting cop against cop. As the investigations proceed, tempers and threats are on the rise. Will Gavin's prior, personal interactions with Quinn thwart progress on the case and destroy his current relationships, or make him the next target of the serial killer?

Dark secrets, hidden pasts and murderous revenge keep you on the edge in this page turning tale. Author Russell concludes this suspense filled series with a chilling end and gives readers of this trilogy a bittersweet peek of what the future holds for key characters. A word of forewarning to readers, there is graphic violence and sex in this storyline. For lovers of dark, suspense filled thrillers, this book (and series) is highly recommended!

I am still feeling all kinds of emotions after finishing this book earlier today. This was the 3rd and final installment of The Gavin Nolan Biography....and it was stellar. I grew to be so connected to Gavin through this journey and really wanted to see him get all the things in life he deserved. There was also an entire host of supporting characters that I grew to both love and hate. Finally, all comes clear and answers to so many things come out... some went as I hoped and some did not. I was so excited at the climax of the book to see justice served, the twists kept coming and kept me on my toes! I don't like to give spoilers, so I have be careful here.... but my heart was broken by the end. I cried, both of sadness and happiness. I think the author did such a wonderful job with this series and I will forever be a fan!
