Book One of The Evolution Series
When the enigmatic Ruslan lands on her doorstep after the death of her Uncle Charlie, Ash Kyndal wants no part of the mysterious Russian. Her existence had only occasionally crossed paths with the “civilized” world, and faking her way through its twisted realities and conforming to its rigid definitions did not come naturally or easily. The necessity of bending made her angry, and as some part of her always seemed to be angry—courtesy of that aforementioned sociopathic father—she knew and understood how inherently difficult it was to be a part of the world.”
Evolution: Awakening is an Ash Kyndal Novel by Hope Anika. It is a fast-paced, action packed Sci-Fi story with plenty of drama, secrets, discoveries, hidden agendas, adventure, and intrigue. This is my first book by Ms. Anika, so I was curious about what I would find once I stated. The book certainly jumps into the action right off the bat, there was no slow build up, character introductions, or backstory slowly developing, because everything was done amidst the action. It was an intriguing way to start the book, and though a little unexpected and chaotic- I was interested in discovering where we were headed.
It definitely wasn’t what I was expecting, that’s for sure. The story had quite a lot of surprising developments that kept me wondering and guessing the whole way through.
The characters are well developed and dynamic individuals- if not a little quirky. There were ones I really liked right off the bat, like Ash and Ruslan, and there were characters I really wasn’t sure about- then as the story progressed, there were characters whom I really detested. But this just added to the intrigue of the overall storyline.
I got to the end and really didn’t know what to think, I am a little up in the air about it all, and have so many questions still. It looks set to continue in book #2, “Evolution: Brethren”, so I hope it will give me the answers I am looking for.

While the two romances in the novel are slow burn (because, wow, are these people damaged), the suspense and the action are fast burn. The story literally begins with two of the major characters in a life and death situation and the action just picks up from there.
Eva, a miracle in herself, is under the protection of the members of the Firm, a PI agency filled with wounded birds brought in by Charlie. But Charlie is dead and his niece, Ashling is in charge of the firm. Wiley, her cousin and Charlie's son, is a warrior hiding in a scoundrel's skin. Wanda, the Firm's IT specialist, is on the run. Ruslan, a brooding and sexy Russian with no memory of much of his life, has a life-debt to pay to Charlie. They need to protect her from the mysterious men in black, who'd rather die that be questioned.
Thankfully, the characters do not suffer from lack of growth and backstory. In fact, that is what drew me in. I wanted to know about all of them, even Eva and the rest like her.
The slow burn romances seem to go one step forward and two steps back, and that usually happens during action scenes. I hope the trend continues!
An excellent novel on its own, even with the clue round up and download at the tend.

Evolution: Awakening (Ash Kyndal, #1) Hope Anika was an engaging, interesting read, that had me hooked!
My first read by this author, and I have to say I'm going to be checking her other books. This book was well written, creative, suspenseful, intriguing, and as I have said, hooking. This book really brought me back to that urban fantasy that I use to read all the time. It was familiar as it was new, fresh and exciting. Wonderful characters, witty, fun, and just a joy to read about, mixed with a fast pace mystery plot, and some not so normal themes, and you got one hell of a read. The MC was a powerhouse, made this story the gem that it is. I am going to be following this series, cause I think it's going places, and I want to be apart of that.
Overall if you haven't guessed, this book gets my super high recommendation and my golden stamp of approval.

Evolution: Awakening - Great urban suspence, with a little romance
Ashling "Ash" Kyndal, just lost her uncle Charlie to a sensless accident. She is now in charge of his PI Firm. A job she never wanted. She will do whatever she has to keep the Firm going. There are people who depend on her.
Ruslan, just Ruslan, the enigmatic Russian, professed friend of Charlie's, showed up 3 days after his death. He says he now ows hid debt to her.
Butch Masters, former cop, Charlie's friend, and more often than not drunk, but family.
Wanda Linn, the tiny Indian woman Charlie rescued, is their computer expert.
Shirley, another Charlie rescue, the Firms receptonist.
Wylie Kyndal, Charlie's son. Ash's beloved cousin. A former Marine, who is as unrelieable as his father was solid.
A new case starts off with the kidnapping of Ruslan and Butch, by men in black. Three dead men in Ash's appartment. Wanda on the run with the 12 year old girl they are hired to protect. While Wylie is in the wind and so is the girls father.
Ava Pierce is ethereal, and serene, and clearly use to being hunted. Nothing like a typical 12 year old. She knows when the men in black are near.
Ash and her team slowly start putting tings together, and they are leading down some very disturbing roads. Genic manipulation in the effort to eradicate disease, create stronger, smarter and more esteticly pleasing humans. Something went wrong. There were un intended consequences.
The Firm is hired to find another girl much like Eva. A a teen looking for his brother, has some very similer aspects to the missing girl.
A war is bruing betwen and last 3 faction. This new race of humans, is in volved in each one. Ava is on the hit list of them all. Ruslan may be tied to them as well.
Ash and Wylie lean things about Charlie that they have trouble reconciling.
They are betrayed by one of their own.
Wylie is changed by his protection of Eva and Wanda. He is now is father's son. Eva has done something to both him and Wanda.
Wanda came face to face with her past, something that nearly breaks her. She doen't trust Wylie to keep her safe, but their shared expirenc has pulled them closer together. Helping Eva, is what is most improtant now.
Ash's team is ill equiped to deal with all they have leaned, but that is not going to stop them from trying. Eva deserves to live the life she wants. Then there is Adam, so like Eva. Jessie, the newest member of their team, who's brother is involved with one of the factions.
Great series start. Ther is a strong attraction between Ash and Ruslan and Wylie and Wanda. looking forward to the next book.

I really enjoyed this book. It throws you straight into the deep end in terms of action and drama, and doesn't stop so I was hooked from the start and couldn't put the book down. The writing style is easy to read but well-crafted.
The characters were flawed enough to make them real but still likable enough that I wanted to follow their journeys. Even Ruslan, whom I wasn't sure if I could like at the start. I must confess that Ash's anger did get to me at times, but that is just a personal thing. I have a low tolerance for hypocritical behaviour and I felt that her anger continually moved into hypocritical. I would have liked her to realize that on occasion but there is always the next book.
My other little pet hate was that too many people blinked at each other. It just felt a little overused.
Having said all that, I will happily continue reading this series. In fact, I actually purchased "Hail Mary" by Hope Anika, which was sampled at the end of the book.

I ❤️it. It’s full of action, suspense and some dark secrets.
A new race created to try to avoid genetic problems in the future for humanity is what the action of this story will be about.
4 characters who work for the Form, an PI agency. Ash, Ruslan, Wanda and Wylie will be in charge of protecting a 12-year-old girl, Eva, from all those who want to kidnap her, some to use her and others to kill her.
I can’t wait to read the next book in the series to see how the story continues.

This is book one in The Evolution Series and it is Ash's story. When Ash inherited a PI company from her uncle with the help of her cousin she is determined to make it work even knowing that it is something that she wasn't expecting. There are twists and turns along the way as well as a cliff hanger ending and that is what makes you want the next book to see what would happen next. I couldn't put this book down as it had you on the edge of your seat. I have read many book's by Hope Anika and I definitely recommend that you read this book and other's by her and you will not be disappointed.

Genetics
Their are several strange people coming to The Firm since her uncle died. They are guarding a 12 year old from a man her dad owes money. Then, the world begins to unravel.
Mourning her uncle and trying to live up to his standard of professionalism is a job she feels she is not prepared for, but has to do. The people he saved needed her to provide for them and people are looking to them for help. It is a violent story of a world in crisis. I enjoyed the flow and pace of the story, plus the characters are well drawn.

Ash is trying to make sense of Ruslan and the situation she is put into. The Plot is amazing and there is all the good stuff. There is intrigue and an experiment that is going on that wants to change the world. This is just an action packed story. Amazing and very entertaining.

Great read.
Excellent book. Tight plot. Well developed characters. Quick pace. Can't wait for the next one. I have enjoyed and recommended all of her books I have read so far.

Amazing book as always with this author ! I was on the edge of my seat the all time and I just can’t wait for the sequel. Well I will have to read Hail Mary in the mean time 👌

Do you have an inquiring mind and need answers to stuff? Or don’t mind reading late into the night? Then This is for you and You need to one-click this baby! After reading the synopsis I found this intriguing. A former circus person who now has a PI business? Hmmmm sounds different. The beginning starts out in the middle of a situation and I was worried I missed a page. But don’t fret and DON’T stop reading. You will find out answers to those questions soon but other questions will arise.
These characters are amazing! Wait until you meet the Russian! Aloof is his middle name..along with stubborn. Haha! The sexual tension between him and Ashling is to die for! Ashling (I love her name!) is very impressive and I can only wonder at all the secret talents she is hiding. Wylie has become quite the character as the story moves forward. He seemed lowly at first but he really steps up his game.
This is a suspenseful tale that I could not keep my mitts off of for very long. It is quite a large book and I think I read it in 2 days. It is full of action, suspense, betrayal, secrets along with some really wonderful characters! The storyline was good. It it drove me crazy! It bops back and forth between a couple characters and the situations they are in. So just when it was getting interesting with one of them..BAM it would flit over to the other characters and catch you up on what they are doing. That is brilliant planning on the authors part but it makes me go “Wha??”. Then I have to keep reading (which could be late into the night). :-) But on a good note It really keeps the reader engaged. I really look forward to reading the next in the series.

These characters are amazing! Wait until you meet the Russian! Aloof is his middle name..along with stubborn. Haha! The sexual tension between him and Ashling is to die for! Ashling (I love her name!) is very impressive and I can only wonder at all the secret talents she is hiding. Wylie has become quite the character as the story moves forward. He seemed lowly at first but he really steps up his game.
This is a suspenseful tale that I could not keep my mitts off of for very long. It is quite a large book and I think I read it in 2 days. It is full of action, suspense, betrayal, secrets along with some really wonderful characters! The storyline was good. It it drove me crazy! It bops back and forth between a couple characters and the situations they are in. So just when it was getting interesting with one of them..BAM it would flit over to the other characters and catch you up on what they are doing. That is brilliant planning on the authors part but it makes me go “Wha??”. Then I have to keep reading (which could be late into the night). :-) But on a good note It really keeps the reader engaged. I really look forward to reading the next in the series.

It has thrilling and suspenseful moments that had me on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next. There is mystery and a bit of romance as well. I enjoyed reading about the character of Ash Kyndal. She is strong-willed, independent, stubborn, and feisty. She has inherited her Uncle Charlie’s PI firm and finds it challenging to run to say the least. Her life becomes chaotic when a client goes missing and strange men start to show up. She tries to unlock the answers to the many questions raised by unexpected situations her and the firm’s staff face. Will Ash find the answers to the questions that keep multiplying? How much danger is she in? What does the future hold for Ash and those she works with? Read this book to find out. I also enjoyed reading about the mysterious Russian who has appeared on her doorstep. Ash feels a connection to him. There are many other additional characters. There are those who help and work for Ash. Then there are those who have their own agenda and will do all that they must to succeed. Evolution: Awakening is the first book in Hope Anika’s Ash Kyndal series. It’s a book that jumps straight into the action – Kyndal’s PI/bodyguard firm has unknowingly bitten off more than they can chew when they agreed to protect a young girl. Ash and her team, held together by complicated loyalties, must try and save each other and the girl from their mysterious and determined opponents.
It’s a thrilling book, with lots of mystery and action and a bit of an urban sci-fi/fantasy feel. As the story unfolds into the future, we also learn more about the backstories that brought the characters together. It’s a well-developed world, and the characters are interesting without being unbelievable.
One character I really liked is Wanda. Usually more comfortable with the tech side of things, Wanda is given her first chance at a bit of responsibility in the field with what is assumed to be a simple, low risk task. When things don’t go as planned, she must think on her feet and face her fears.

Evolution: Awakening blew me away. It is the first book I have read by Hope Anika, but I want to read more now! The summary drew me in and I thought it would be interesting, but it far surpassed my expectations. The book starts right in the middle of the action, no need to start slow and set the ground work. It set off with a bang, and never let up. The story did take a long time to get to the WHY, which was frustrating. However, I never let up- I read the book in less than 2 days. It is one of the most fascinating stories I have read, with great imagination and story building. I like the way it was told in two parts, to the same story. There is the story of Wanda, Eva and Wylie, on the run from madmen. And the other half of the story is Ruslan and Ash trying to solve the mystery from the back end. The description doesn't tell much, so I don't want to spoil anything, but wow oh wow. Highly recommend this suspense filled mystery. Parts of the puzzle are slowly uncovered for a big reveal. Couldn't put it down!

When I first read the blurb for this book I wasn’t entirely sure I was going to enjoy it but oh my gosh I am so, so glad that I decided to read it because it was such an exciting, intriguing and captivating read. The authors writing style was very creative and it didn’t take me long to become fully absorbed into what I was reading and I was hooked from beginning to end. This was a great introduction to Hope Anika as an author! The pace and flow of the story was great and I loved reading about the characters. They all had their role to play in the storyline and I enjoyed piecing everything together. The story was unpredictable and this made it even more exciting to read.
I think this book was a really interesting start to this series and I am looking forward to see where it goes! Evolution: Awakening was a great read and one that I highly recommend!

Evolution: Awakening (An Ash Kyndal Novel) by Hope Anika. PSA... Be prepared to stay up all night reading this book. I know I did! This story is full of action, suspense, back stabbing and its full of quirky characters. Ash Kyndal inherits her Uncle Charlie's PI firm, she's not excited so she's trying to find a way out of it. She's not used to being a normal, functioning adult but she sucks it up and decides how hard can it be. She is used to being a carnival worker and her family is a Hot Mess. Her Uncle Charlie has saved her in the past several times so its the least she can do. When her client goes missing and weird people start showing up she is thinking about getting out again but she can't just bail. There is a fierce battle going on that could wipe out the entire human race and she's going to have to find a way to solve it. Read Evolution: Awakening to find out if she succeeds.

Evolution: Awakening by Hope Anika is the first book in the Ash Kyndal series, a series I can’t wait to continue. This book started so strong and it didn’t let up at any time, it’s action-packed, twisted, detailed, addicting and completely unpredictable.
From the beginning I was hooked as I was so intrigued by the storyline and I couldn’t bring myself to stop reading and I ended up reading it in one sitting. I love how this author told the story so seamlessly, even with the many POV’s, which can sometimes be confusing, but it was perfectly done in this book. All the action had me sitting on the edge of my seat wondering how it was all going to play out and I never seen this ending coming!
I’m really looking forward to reading more from this author and I would recommend this one to anyone looking for their next one of a kind read.

Evolution: Awakening by Hope Anika was WOW!! When I dived into this book I could NOT and DID not put it down. I stayed up long into the night to finish a book that grabbed me like no other has in a very long time. Ash, social outcast and circus performer veteran inherits her Uncles PI firm is the main character in this well written Science Fiction Romance. The story line grabs you, the amazing well written characters grab you heart, and the suspense takes you for an amazing ride that I sure did not want to get off of. I loved the drama, I loved the secrets, I loved the adventures, and really loved never knowing what was going to happen next! I am normally not a SiFi romance reader but I loved this book and loved the author so much I plan to make sure I read more of her! I simply was Wowed by this five star read!

Okay, I DID NOT expect to love this book as much as I did. I am the first to put a sci-fi book on the back burner to read something more in line with rom-coms and steamy reads. I am so glad that I did not do that with this book! Not only did I gain a new author to check out but I now have a new series that I can’t wait to get my hands on and follow in the near future.
Evolution: Awakening Hope brings us Ash, one female MC that I just couldn’t get enough of. She inherits her uncle’s PI firm and it is the absolute last thing she wants. Just when you think this is enough of a story arc there is more introduced with the mysterious things that start to happen around Ash. Will she be able to handle everything that is coming her way? I can’t wait for the next one! I have to know what will come next. Thanks so much for the fantastic change of pace Ms. Anika!

I have to say the blurb to this book was one of the most intriguing but worrying ones I think I’ve ever read. A circus person turned PI business owner. This was either going to be genius or an absolute disaster. I was so pleased that o have this book a go because it turned out to be amazing!!!
Ash was incredible. I can’t decide what it was I liked the most about her. She was such an engaging character.
I also loved how the book would have you right on the edge and then just jump you to another character altogether. If kept me. On edge the whole way through.

The author keeps a steady full-speed ahead pace throughout this story from the character introductions to the story line to the stream of events that unfold. This novel is loaded with elements that take charge and bring forth unexpected chains of events starting at the very beginning of this epic book. Hope Anika delivers a take charge suspense with all the required pieces to make this a story that takes the reader into the story and trails them along on the journey along with the main and secondary characters. I enjoyed the mystery and unknown as they fell apart in the story, it kept me engaged, enthralled and wanting more.

A phenomenal sci-fi novel written with twists and turns that will keep you flipping pages. Two main characters that are dynamic and naturally connect. Ash and Ruslan have chemistry that you can feel coming off the page. The story moves along quickly and it keeps you engaged. An absolute A+!
Ash, is s character with curves and edges. Tough as nails, but in over her head. Ruslan is a character who is all teeth. Interesting from page one.
With misdirection and some great fight scenes this author has put together a book worth reading. Definitely a series opening type of ending.
I loved it and will gladly recommend it, from the bottom of my soul I’m anticipating book two.

Evolution: Awakening, an Ash Kyndal story by Hope Anika is a suspenseful attention keeping book. I could not put it down until I was finished. Hope Anika characters are fully developed and easy to relate to as if they were in our world. Ash inherits a PI firm from her uncles and that is were it all begins. She went from circus lifestyle to that of a PI. I am not sure hon one goes from circus crew to a PI but Hope Anika pulled it off nicely. Ash did not realize what she was getting herself into. There is some rough times ahead and Ash needs to figure it out because there is a storm coming and she needs to be on the “right side” if she hope to conquer her battle.

When i started this story I thought I either had a bad copy of the book or it was a continuation of a previous story. Nope - it is just the way the author started this great story.
The story has originality, great world building, interesting characters and imagination. Told from multiple points of view, at times the pacing is so frenetic that it is maddening and other times it was just right.

This is my first book by this author, I enjoyed it from cover to cover. The story is well written and creative. I was pulled in right from the beginning and felt as if I was right there in the story. Characters bring twists and turns that will keep you turning pages. Ash inherits her uncle’s PI business but she doesn’t want it. With others depending on her she gives it a try. What will happen when she finds herself in a battle of survival? I highly recommend this book.
