Derek Shupert is an avid super hero fan (Marvel over DC Universe) and lover of Science Fiction. Derek likes to spend his free time putting down on paper the stories that he has contained in his imagination. By day, he is an Inventory and Distribution Services Center Manager but by night, he writes. To date, he has published four books; two Sci-Fi, a children’s book and a technology consumer guide. He is currently working on two more books which should be available early 2016.
Derek lives in Sherman, Texas with his wife, children and various pets.
I loved this post Apocalyptic Survival Thriller! Enjoyed the book from the beginning because Derek, (the Author) is so descriptive and builds suspense. I also enjoyed the amusing banter by the characters.
It’s an action-packed adventure story! A Post-Apocalyptic Zombie page turner, where the good guys race to survive in situations where normal comforts, conveniences, and rules are stripped away by an evil Pharmaceutical plant Manager… I’ve watched the TV show “The Walking dead”, so I never thought I would be cheering on a Zombie,..well he’s not really a Zombie .. I can’t explain more without a committing a spoiler. A big Pharma company with an army of their own have created a scientifically engineered virus, when human test subjects strapped down in the lab, manage to escape. This evil Pharmaceutical operation was moved to an overseas country, presumably to avoid scrutiny in the USA. They covered up a lab leak and created monsters. Mayhem ensues as the authoritarian military causes civilization to collapse. This big Pharma covering up the lab leak blunder, dispersing the virus is scary, …and tempting to binge read, as the main character searches for a cure. I have enjoyed reading previous books by this author, so I was keen to get an ARC of the Complete Undead Boxset.

There is no shortage of action and adrenaline surges in this series, gory encounters and a relentless pace pushing you through one action sequence after the other. The overarching plot is intriguing, with book one setting a pretty intense first scene, however, my lower rating reflects my dissatisfaction with limited interactions with other characters, not allowing for a deeper connection with the main character and little character development throughout the story. The main character felt dry and two dimensional, ultimately keeping the story from truly resonating.
This is another exciting series by Derek Shupert to get into. A really great storyline that has you hooked from the beginning. Mike is the main character who has been experimented on and injected with a virus that will turn him into a ravenous monster. He continually battles to keep one step ahead of his enemies who in turn do everything in their power to keep him from escaping. I found this 4 book series to be riveting and I hope it won't end here .
I don't know. The story was good and I enjoyed it somewhat, but there was just something lacking for me. It felt like it wasn't researched properly. For example, it didn't state anywhere that Mike was special forces until half way through the very last book and he referred to weapons as "the machine gun". It just felt a bit weak, and the ending was unsatisfying.
But, it was still enjoyable and kept me hooked at some points.
There is no way you can not be satisfied with this box set. This set has everything you could want in an Apocalypse book. Good writing and good plot. This was a great binge read. Actually this is the 2nd time reading these books individually and I found I enjoyed the box set more than each book separately.
Good series - tho assume there are more to come considering the end of book 3 and a couple of other loose ends. Needed better proofreading as overuse of comma, hyphen and apostrophe, plus other typos that should have been picked up. Overall a good series and I will get any following books in the series.
Full of plot holes, causal sexism, casual racism, discontinuities, and *badly* in need of an editor. I keep telling myself I won’t read any more self-published zombie books and yet somehow here I am once again. No one to blame but myself.
Recommended for those who enjoy lots of action. Would have been better if the last book had been extended to include what happened a week, month, or year from that period of time.
If you like an apocalypse that’s very realistic, full of war, gore and the desperate fight to survive then this book set is for you! All of the characters are memorable. The storyline is believable. The action is covered in blood and loss. It’s a keeper series!
Overall the story was quite interesting., it seemed to skip something after the second chapter, I got confused. Perhaps the writer could have better explained how the lead character got into the story.
A different twist in this book by introducing a cop with his own problems and the intro of vampires into the mix add to that the serious side of the situation and a sense of humour at times and it makes this book worthy of reading.
It is your typical zombie survival book with the main character as a resistant infected. I really, really struggled with this book and to get the needed apathy up for the character. It was predictable at times and while there were a few moments when I got invested into a character or the moment it was often short lived. I found myself guessing a lot of the twists and turns with the ending of the final book feeling massively unfulfilling for me. If you want a zombie novel to scratch the itch it is a good easy read for that. If you want a new style of zombie trope don't go here!
