John Tyler #3

Lost Highway

Rate this book
To abduct a popular singer, a band of traffickers will stop at nothing.
To get her back, John Tyler will burn them down.

While waiting for his new car repair shop to open, Tyler takes a job at an old friend’s urging. He’ll be on the protection detail for pop singer Alex Anne.

It’s a simple job . . .

Until it all goes sideways.

When Alex Anne disappears, Tyler ignores the official investigation and launches his own. He discovers a notorious group of traffickers targeted the singer to sell her to the highest bidder.

Tyler goes after the cabal and quickly lands on their radar. They’re not without their own resources, however, and they soon learn Tyler’s very pretty daughter is in college nearby.

With time running short, Tyler strikes at the heart of the group’s operation before they can disappear with a plane full of missing girls. He’ll have to take on all their men by himself.

Good thing Tyler never cared about the odds.

Lost Highway is the third novel in the John Tyler action thriller series. It's perfect for readers who like their thrillers with plenty of action, a little humor, and a little heart.

Our new favorite 'hero', John Tyler, is waiting impatiently for his classic car shop to open. Things are a little slow, so when an easy job offer for protection of a young pop singer is offered John figures he could use the money and the action! Well, that 'easy' case goes completely sideways and John finds himself jumping in very deep and facing a group of traffickers intent on bringing a bunch of young women to auction. The pop singer he was in charge of, Alex Anne, is the same age as his daughter who is a big fan, so trying to locate her brings tons of emotions and fear to this ex-Green Beret.
John finds that these traffickers are backed by some notorious people, and by asking his own girlfriend and daughter for their assistance he may be putting his own family in the trafficker's sights. John is up against some awful odds in this fight, but, he has Never cared about odds before and surely will Not start worrying now!!
A fabulous action thriller in a series that finds you unable to close a book until you reach the end!!
I received an ARC from the author and I offer You my honest thoughts and feelings in this review.

While waiting for his classic car shop to open he agrees to take an easy job for a couple of days. John signs on as extra security for a pop star. When she gets kidnapped after her concert he will do anything to get her back.
This book was about how prevalent human trafficking has become. There is no one and nothing the rich can’t acquire! This book was very action packed. My heart raced as the window of time was closing! This pop star was around his daughter’s age and was very similar to her. Not to mention his daughter is a fan. This cut too close to home for John! The characters old and new were multifaceted and interesting. I really enjoyed this book and highly recommended it and this author!

Lost HIghweay is #3 of the John Tyler Series and we will pretty much just mow the bad guys all down but I think it works. We have a young popular singer with a huge following, managed by her father, beginning a new national tour in Baltimore, and John Tyler is hired to supplement their one-man security force during that concert. Lexie is excited because she adores Alex Anne and her songs and she has a compted ticket. Unfortunately, a young man dives onto the stage during the session and John, who stopped him, is required by the venue's management to fill out all sorts of forms for the insurance company after the concert. And, of course, the diva, full-time bodyguard, and father leave without him. And, of course, they all disappear into the night and John has to find them. Enter some of John's old enemies from the Taliban who have set up shop in the US and changed their modus from running drugs to auctioning off young kidnapped girls to the highest bidder. And someone is paying LARGE for our diva. A 'special order'. The other 17 missing Baltimore girls are just gravy. And even though he tries to involve the local police and the Federals, it is all moving so fast that it just seems to fall on John's shoulders. As usual. The good news is that Sara and Smitty are getting the new mechanic shop set up without him. This is a good thing because he will be trashing the 442 and the Tesla before it's all over. If you love old cars, new cars, and thrillers, you can't go wrong with John Tyler.

Wow! I didn't think this series could get any better but this addition proved me wrong! The storyline was exciting and dealt with current issues facing young women. It was well written with characters that are multifaceted and flawed just like you and me. Definitely a must read.

John Tyler takes his responsibilities seriously. When a young singer is snatched by a trafficking ring he'll stop at nothing to try to get her back.

I received an arc of this book and voluntarily provided a review.

I started reading the books in this series because I was somewhat familiar with the locations and was intrigued with the idea of a car mechanic being involved in assisting with solving crime. But John Tyler, the mechanic, is a much more complicated character. He's ex military, having served as a wheeled vehicle mechanic in Afghanistan. In this book, he presents even more of his character because he creates an ethical dilemma, when he's hired as part of the security detail for a young pop singer. He draws everyone around him into an outlaw conspiracy to annihilate the bad guy sex traffickers. Is he a good guy, going after bad guys, or is he just more outlaw badass than they are and thinks he's a good guy?
I would rate this R for the violence. The book is well-written and has an ending that wraps up all the loose ends. I took notes to keep track of the characters; there are more than 30 of them, but the main characters are the ones to whom you should pay attention.
Locations/settings: [Maryland: Baltimore (Little Italy, Lord Baltimore Hotel, Baltimore Arena, Hopkins Plaza, White Marsh Mall, Charles Center Metro Station, Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond Baltimore, Otterbein neighborhood, Old Otterbein United Methodist Church, "The Block" on Baltimore St., Orioles' and Ravens' Stadiums, Baltimore Beltway, Baltimore-Washington Parkway, Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport - BWI), College Park (University of Maryland), Columbia (Hunan Manor Restaurant), Fallston, Jessup, Fort Meade; Delaware: Kitts Hummock; Virginia: Pentagon; also mentions of Afghanistan (Kandahar), Turkey, Serbia]

I received an ARC for an honest review.

In this story, John Tyler is waiting to have his new shop open. While he is waiting for the inspection, he is offered a job which seemed quite easy. He was to act as a body guard for a singer. A piece of cake, right? Not so fast. After the concert, John is held up filling out papers regarding an incident during the concert. While do so, the person he is supposed to be protected is abducted and her main body guard is shot. It is not until the next morning that John is able to convince the client's father that she is missing.

John starts checking the area out where the abduction took place and discovered what looks like a trail of blood so he follows it. At the same time, John learns that he is being followed and takes steps to protect himself. While this is going on, the client has been tied up and is waiting for the completion of the capture of more people.

John requests assistance from his daughter in addition to his girl friend. With this information, he is able to gather information that is useful in finding his client. The individual responsible the abduction has another ace up his sleeve which will discourage John from pursuing and foiling the planned escape.

To discover why his client was abducted, who was the person responsible and what exactly was supposed to happen that would cause John to stop his pursuit, then you must read this book. It is well worth your time and will definitely keep your interest.

“Breath taking fast and deadly, a must read!”
Wow another hit with John Tyler taking on a supposedly very easy job protecting a up and becoming young singer Alex Anne. Money for old rope Tyler is told by his old boss Cliff….Not!
John is talked into helping out his old security firm while he waits for his new venture opening up a car repair garage. The protection is for an up and coming young singer visiting her home town and doing a couple of gigs with no real threats. John teams up with her only protection an ex cop called Donnie that instantly takes a dislike to John and his presence and takes no heed to any advice which turns out fatal.
All action and thrills, but Tyler woes are not just his protection but the opening of his new venture his garage being managed by the ex owner Smitty and his daughter.

Things go terribly wrong when Alex is taken as are 18 other young girls all by trafficker Durrani and his team. All taken to be sold to the highest bidder, but with the help of his girlfriend Sara who also happens to be the senior Pentagon executive does things his way to get the job done by any means.
I really enjoy Tyler’s character and his daughter Lexi is pretty cool too!
Tom Fowler’s writing style is so easy going yet well thought through and well written with so much exciting action. The pages just fly by and it gets you eagerly turning the pages for more. Well worth reading and I can’t wait for more!

John Tyler returns and is once more right in the thick of the action. Tyler is close to opening his own classic car repair shop but is feeling a bit burnt out with it all. For a change of pace, and some extra cash, he takes on the job of being part of a famous singer's security. All goes fine until the singer is kidnapped. Tom Fowler gives his readers another excellent book featuring, in my opinion, his greatest character yet in Tyler. In this book there’s everything you could want from action scenes to great dialogue to tender family moments. The real skill comes from the author being able to believably mix it all together and create a story that comes alive. This series is truly excellent with a fabulous main character, brilliant supporting characters and always a story that thrills, entertains and even at times pulls at the heartstrings. Lost Highway has all of that and some to spare. My favourite part of the whole book was the notice at the back that Tom Fowler has another addition to the series planned for the Spring.

Lost Highway is my favorite book in the John Tyler adventure series so far. The action kicks in early, and it never really lets up. From the first few chapters, the pacing pulls you forward and keeps the momentum strong all the way through.

While the situation at the heart of the story is intense and often brutal, that’s part of what makes these books so compelling. They read like a high-octane action movie. As I was reading, I couldn’t help but picture someone like Jason Statham in the lead role—there’s that same gritty determination and relentless energy.

The fight scenes are detailed and vividly written, which adds to the realism without becoming confusing. You always know what’s happening, and more importantly, you always know who you’re rooting for. John Tyler is the kind of character who makes it easy to stay invested—flawed, tough, and driven.

Overall, Lost Highway delivers exactly what fans of action thrillers are looking for: fast pacing, intense confrontations, and a clear sense of justice.

This is certainly a page-turner! Things go wrong very quickly with a simple job he’s doing for a former boss. I don’t want to give anything away but it involves his daughter Lexi’s favourite pop star. There is a lot of action, tense moments, frustrating dead ends and horrible surprises by the bad guys. It was great to see several law enforcement officers from the C.T. Ferguson series also get involved, but Tyler is working on his own. This is a real nail-biter as it comes right down to the wire. Can anyone stop the girls from being taken out of the country? We feel the terror and the fading hope of the kidnapped girls as the author tells part of the story through Alex Anne’s eyes. Lexi shows she is her father’s daughter when a problem occurs at school. We see the father-daughter bond strengthen as he helps Lexi sort through her feelings on a difficult subject. This is the most exciting John Tyler book yet.

Great read. How can a simple security job go so wrong?

While continuing to get his garage ready Tyler's old employer calls to see if he can do a short security stint for a popular young singer nearby. With the bills for the business eating into his savings and only his army pension coming in Tyler could really use the money. He agrees to take the job after meeting with the manager/father of the singer, after all how bad could it get when they already have a security guy on their regular payroll.

The chaos begins in the first day on the job and it's non-stop action from that time on. Will Tyler be able to make everything turn out right this time? Time will tell but you'll have to read it yourself to find out. No spoilers here.

John Taylor just took a simple job for a few days as additional protection for Alex Ann, a popular singer. This was just for extra money while waiting to open his auto repair shop. Of course, nothing is ever as simple as it sounds.
When John is held up with details of an incident at a concert, Alex Ann and her bodyguard leave and disappear. It soon becomes obvious that she was taken by sex traffickers and time is running out. John is determined to find her no matter what it takes. Meanwhile his daughter, Lexi, is in danger from John’s old enemy.
A well written powerful story, fast paced and good characters. I’m becoming a fan of the John Taylor series. Looking forward to the next adventure.

At the same time John Tyler is working to get his classic car repair shop off the ground, he takes a security job . Keeping himself busy and bringing in funds for his shop: win/win.

As expected, jobs are rarely as simple as one could hope.

Clever bad actors who research their targets make this a tough challenge for Tyler, his protectee, his co-worker, and his own teen daughter.

It is interesting to see the growth of Tyler in dealing with trauma and supporting those around him in seeking healing help and support

It is also empowering that his daughter has some skills she learned from Daddy, even if they come with a price

Intense action and drama with emotional growth - as much as Tyler is capable of

Seat of your Pants action!!

From start to finish I just could not put down Tom Fowler's latest release Lost Highway. Definitely a page turner. If you've followed the series, you'll find Tyler rebuilding the garage and it's almost finished. A friend calls and asks if he wants to earn some extra cash for a few days as a bodyguard to a teen pop star. We all know things never go as planned for Tyler. A threat from Afghanistan enters, Lexi's life is threatened and 18 girls are kidnapped, including the pop star. If you want to know how it all unfolds, you'll just have to read it. My eyes couldn't read fast enough to see how all the pieces fit together. Awesome read!!!

Tyler going solo

What can I say, I love Tyler and I loved this book!

As Tyler waits for the inspections to be completed on his new garage, he is approached to help out on a celebrity protection detail. With Tyler's background and skills, he's an ideal fit for the job - simple, eh? A much larger plot develops with many innocents at risk and an old adversary has Tyler in his sights - will he find his weak spot?

Tactical investigation and thrilling action from both Tyler and Lexi...

Don't miss this book or series!

Made me want to get lost with Tyler

Tyler, everyone’s favorite mercenary mechanic, has bought a repair shop and wishes he didn’t have the headache of opening the new business. As the story progresses a chance to escape the headache appears, a darker motive seems to be at play, and when he sets some time aside things start to fall apart at the seams. Tom Fowler made me want to get lost with Tyler as he travelled through Lost Highway. The journey is just as important as the destination in this one.

I received a free copy of the book from the author. I had the opportunity to review or not.

Each novel by this author takes on a certain theme thru-out the reading. The plot moves quickly and has a "Taken" movie feel to it. The suspense and action sequences are top-notch. The violence is not too over the top with gory details and has reciprocity feel to every scene. The theme for this novel is human trafficking and the storyline of what could happen? The author has a touch of making his characters very relatable, and not too unbelievable for the situations they are placed in. I look forward to reading more from this author.

While John is waiting to open his new Car Shop, he takes a security job on a concert tour for a young rock star, Alex Anne. This was no regular gig, while on tour in Maryland, a sex trafficker wants to kidnap her in hopes of getting lots of money for her. John has been detained at the arena and the worst happens, she is kidnapped. What happens is an action packed twist and turns at every road for John to get her and 17 other girls before a plane takes them out of the country never to be seen again.
A great book!!!

Upped the ante!

Each book in this series gets better and better. I hope this will continue, which I suspect it will.
Tyler, in this instalment, is trying to get his new workshop open and whilst waiting he takes on a bodyguard job for a young female singer. This soon turns into battling human trafficking and old adversaries from Afghanistan.
Another thrilling, fast paced and all action with Tyler virtually having to go this alone whilst Levi gets caught up in the sidelines. Superb!!

Tom has hit another one out of the park. He has great tie-ins to his last books.
Our hero has the right grit required for each happening (and there are many) . And the right heart when it is required.
The story has a few great twists and some surprising calls for help. Tyler is starting to have feelings coming to the surface and it is great how they come out
The third in a series that begs for a fourth.

This is the third book in the John Tyler series and even though it could be read as a stand alone you would be missing some of the background story. I believe it is the best thus far. I have come to consider John my favorite character from Author Tom Fowler’s rich imagination. There are always suspense, action and surprises galore!

Disclaimer: I received an ARC from the author and this is my honest and unsolicited opinion.

Tom Foster's John Tyler is once again a "knight errant" in this actions packed thriller. The characters are clearly defined and the storyline both cleanly written and believeable. I believe reiterating a storyline keeps readers from fully enjoying the surprises. It is a true can't-put-it-down page turner that any reader of thus genre will enjoy! I received an ARC and this is my honest review if thus novel.

Better

I have to admit that I skimmed more on this one bc it just seemed repetitive to me. The ‘bad guys’ were saying the same threats over and over. I do like the fact that Tyler wasn’t taken down by some big dude like he was in the first 2 books. I mean if you are going to have a bad a$$ hero then let’s have it. I like his daughter as well. Kind of missed the father in this one but really over all a good, exciting read. I’m definitely hooked.

Plans are put in place for a reason. But plans have a way of tumbling down.

Wow, another edge of your seat book in the John Tyler series. Father and daughter reach both generations and holds them til the end. Lessons are learned about each other when they both get grief from the 'bad guys'. Kudos to Tom Fowler for including these lessons as part of the story.
When plans go down, they each have to come up with a new solution. Good read.

Gritty, old school thriller is the best way I can describe. Fowler eschewed the 30 year old Navy Seal model and dusted off an older, experienced 50-year-old special forces retiree as the main character. Love the change from most storylines in the genre. Tyler has a job and takes on situations with a rough ruthlessness not found in many stories these days. Bonus to the author that Tyler is neither perfect or bullet-proof.

To think that people, especially women, live through this perversion is incomprehensible. Evil, depraved individuals who care nothing for human life, only money, live among us and this story tells of such wickedness. Mr. Fowler has an eloquently crafted, skillfully written novel that will leave you shocked and angry. Kudos Tom. This is an eye opener. Very Highly Recommended.

Tyler, the Hero

Tyler is hired to do a three-day protection service for a teen singer. Unbeknownst to the good guys, the singer is the target for a human trafficking group from Afghanistan, led by a former combatant of Tyler’s. To make things more interesting, the bad guy wants revenge by taking Lexi, Tyler’s daughter as well. Lots of action. ENJOY!

Lost and found!

This was an excellent read. Similar to Jon Resnik and The Thousand Dollar Man. Really good characters and great action. I hope there are good people out there helping save people in trouble. The police are good but they can't be everywhere. All of the John Tyler books are good reads.

Lost Highway

Love John Tyler series. He's been through an awful lot in his life. Most people wouldn't get through it. He is getting better at dealing with his past all the time. Lexi has a lot to do with this. He tries to stay grounded for her. That doesn't mean he doesn't get into trouble like only Tyler does. Never disappoints
