Lindsey is a bestselling Science Fiction and Fantasy author who lives her life with one foot in a book—so long as that book transports her to a magical world or bends the rules of science. Her novels, from Science Fiction Adventure to Time Travel Romance, always offer a hearty dose of unreality, along with plenty of history, mystery, adventure, and romance.
When she's not working on her next novel, Lindsey spends her time hanging out with her two little boys, working in her garden, or playing board games with her husband. She lives in the Pacific Northwest with her family and their small pack of cats and dogs.
Coming before "The Mother of All" Is no joking matter. She enslaves worlds. I was an ARC reader for this book.I was asked to do nothing more that read it. Like the previous books in this series it is not your average read. It has depth, complex characters and is set in a mystical time in history. Over the Years I have grown to love Kat Dubois and her soul mate who she will go through bonding withdrawals and die if apart for too long Nik. Also we see some of our familiar supporting characters such as Re,Dom, Anapa ect. In this book Kat is called to go on trial for the humans and her planet before "The Mother Of All" and the High Counsel to determine if her planet should be destroyed.Only Kat can save them now and she may need to lay down her life to save them.Kat is still not sure which side Anapa is aligned with but Kat will find out soon enough. Pick up you copy now to find out more. Ms. Fairleigh has done it again. Such a compelling story line in a world filled with mystical gifts, Gods and Demi Gods with an ancient flair. She transports you to another time with her well written tale.I can hardly wait to read book six that comes out next year.
These books are incredibly unique, fun and so well written! I have read all of the books in this universe, starting with Lex's adventures in Echoes. They addictive, incredible and unpredictable, which for me, is a winning combination. I am literally drooling waiting for the conclusion to Kat's adventures next month, it must cannot get here soon enough! Great job, again, Lindsey 🤣
Finished in a day thanks to text to speech ! I was so into the story I didn't want to put it down ! Uugghhhh as usual I can't wait for the next book to see how it all ends !! I strongly recommend this series to anyone looking for a new read !!
Judgement was fascinating, involving a different set of challenges than Kat originally thought she would face.
I finally got used to the teenage-hormone mess of Kat and love how the author used her personality and circumstances as an obstacle rather than just a potentially annoying trait you have to put up with to like the character. It’s almost like trying to think about what you would do or how you would try to react, or not, to the stuff she faces if you were thrust back into your crazy teenage self. A frustrating handicap, that’s for sure.
One complaint I have about the rest of the characters is they now seem fractured, like consistent personalities was less concern than the events that played out. Example: Re, other than when he wasn’t being Re, didn’t seem to react with as many words, wisdom, or confidence/boldness that I tend to associate with Re, like his character was just there and somehow wasted of his personality since the Echo trilogy. This issue seemed to happen with several characters (probably why each book was a quick enough read) that really needed more meat. The first book had the best chunk and maintained everyone’s personalities as well as gave them their due time to say what they needed to without cutting them short.
In short, the books have been feeling rushed (I know, there are 6 books, but even 6 can fall short of how much depth might be necessary).
Just as the title suggest there was a lot of judgement In this book.KAT's judgement was taken on NIK and on many decisions as to who to trust and who to not, whom to set free, whom to capture.I like that the her character is not perfect and she makes mistakes too, that's what am looking for real stuff.
There were many pov in the ending, I usually do not like more than one pov, but I was not disappointed in this book as the povs vaguely made me aware of what was going on when KAT's not in the universe.
There was not a lot of NIK and KAT moments in this book and didn't get to see any physical romance except of a kiss another thing that I liked. They are getting emotionally attached and that brings a new life to this characters
Anupa was the new character which I had suspicion about but it seems he made things better and helped provide and shelter to KAT which makes him a great character. As we all need to find comfort in unknown places.
As usual Mrs. Sparks skill to weave a story doesn’t disappoint! Are there things I wish were elaborated on more, of course she wouldn’t be good at what she does if she didn’t leave you wanting for a little bit more than she gave. I’m hoping to see some of those things in the next book. The depth and surprise in her plot twists and subplots is astounding. Even though we are in to book 5 there’s so much to learn about each and every character that is a staple to the story. I will admit that the alien aspect was a little left field from where she’s been in the past, but her execution was spot on. Her explanation of creating this whole New World made me want more as usual! After book 6…
In this book the reader gets to see just how attached Nik and Kat are. It satisfies the romantic in me. At the beginning one gets an easy feeling. But with Kat, you know that can't last long. And the ease is soon shattered when Kat is spirited away to another universe where she is to stand trial as the representative of this universe to determine if this universe is worthy to be saved or destroyed. Thereafter, you wonder if she will ever get back to Nik. The last ½ to ¾ of the book is satisfyingly exciting. I enjoyed reading it.
I loved Kat when I read the Echo Trilogy & I am so excited that she has her own series. I will say, I strongly suggest reading the Echo Trilogy before starting this series. It will give you some great backstory before diving into this own.
Kat is pulled into a whole new universe to answer a simply complicated question, is her universe worth saving. This book is full of so many things that are absolutely not as they appear. Nothing the Netjerets knew to be true seems to be the case.
Will Kat be able to find her way home before it is too late?
This was an exciting adventure into a new universe and meeting new beings. The Mother of All definitely makes me think of cancer, since the body is cognizant (Isfet). Is Isfet everything or just Kat's universe? That's part I didn't understand. Still hoping for a happy ending, even though we've already lost a couple friends. I also wonder if with Isfet's release will Aaru change and perhaps be less of a prison and more of a paradise or add to the soul energy?
Her universe is in danger, will she be able to save it...
Kat is requested to go to the Netjer universe to stand trial for her own, but soon finds things are not what they seem. The Mother of All has ordered all Nejerets to be destroyed and Kat to live her life as a prisoner. Will Kat find away to escape and return back to Nik?
Our heroine needs to make important decisions to save herself, the ones she loves, her people and universe from the worst evil yet.
Damn I hate cliffhangers. This one felt shorter than the others. Not sure how I felt about the other characters parts at the end. You're getting into it and then bam someone else. Didn't really feel Lex's pain about her kids dying unless no one told her. Re is a tricky sod but it's good he's on side now. Poor Anapa, he's become one of my favourite characters. Can't wait till the finale.

Kat has found herself in an impossible situation. She must figure out a way to save her people all the while trying not to die herself from being separated from Nick her soul mate. Sometimes one must die in order to live and save those who can't save themselves. This was a real nail bitter from start to finish.
I don’t know but I feel like this book could have been skipped in the series. A bunch of stuff happened in another world which is causing the extermination of Kat’s race and eventually the end of the world. I found myself skimming most of the book and still managed to grasp the entire story.
OMG! So far this has been the best book in the series. Kat is now tasked with save her universe. I could not wait to know what happened next! The book was just too short, and the next one is going to be the last one; I am already sad but at the same time super excited!
Sometimes you just can’t trust an alien god. Kat is now being judged as a representative of mankind as to whether the world will continue as it is. Trying to stop the Senate is the least of Kat’s problems when she has to face the Mother of All and her band of murdering Netjers. So what is a newly bonded kick azz former assassin supposed to do but go take care of business.
Lindsey never fails to pull me into the story with her writing. The action and suspense are non-stop. I can't wait for the end of the month when the conclusion comes out.
Fantastic addition to Kat's journey! So much happens in this book. There is so much detail, drama, action and everything is starting to come together. There are a few trials they all have to endure before it all ends and I can not wait to read the conclusion to Kat's story.
Each book in this series is better than the last one! The action and high stakes in this book is gripping. As Kat faced incredible odds, I found myself right there with her, racing to see what happens next. Amazing! I can't wait to move on to the next one!
Unbelievable step by step in and out of this fantasy universe on the book's pages. And a page turner it is. It was 3:30 in the morning before I knew it!
My 16 year old daughter and I enjoyed the story. It ended without any unanswered questions but allows the writer to expand the story with other characters. I will miss the characters in this book.
