Growing up in the cold, wet, north of England, Nina Croft spent a lot of time dreaming of faraway sunnier places and ponies. When she discovered both, along with a whole load of other things, could be found between the covers of a book, her life changed forever.

Later, she headed south, picked up the perfect husband along the way, and together they volunteered to work in Africa. There they discovered a love of exotic places and a dislike of 9-5 work. Afterward they spent a number of years travelling (whenever possible) intermingled with working (whenever necessary.) Eventually they stumbled upon a remote area in the mountains of southern Spain and the small almond farm they now call home.

Nina spends her days reading, writing and riding her mare, Gencianna, under the blue Spanish skies—sunshine and ponies. She reckons this is proof that dreams really can come true if you want them enough.

Nina's writing mixes romance with elements of the paranormal and science fiction

THREE AND A HALF BILLIONAIRE STARS.

"I can't promise you I'll be with you forever. But I'll never voluntarily leave."

description

A book that leaves me with a smile on my face must mean that I've just spent time with an author who loves romance. Nina Croft is an author who writes books that are easy to escape with and enjoyable and I couldn't really ask for more. 'Out of control' was a sweet, predictable novel with plenty of heart and a whole lot of romance.

What's it all about?
Danielle Sinclair has had plenty of practice at putting men firmly in their place and that's exactly the way she likes it. After years in the military she finds herself on medical discharge with a new job as a body guard. Dani has no desire to be a babysitter for the arrogant Zachary Hunter and she has even less need to explore the attraction that feels so unexplained between them both. Famous writer and ladies man Zachary Hunter could not be more surprised when the pint sized, redhead turns up as his protection, he has no interest in allowing this feisty woman protect his life but it seems that this duo have no choice in being involved in each other's lives. Dani and Zach have plenty to disagree on but when it comes to love and romance they seem to agree that they can't stay away from the attraction between them, but will they be able to put aside their difference to find a future together?

description

What did I love?
I loved the role reversal of the sexes that the author created in this story line. You'll find a damaged heroine that is snarky, sassy and beyond feisty she pulls no punches and you won't find a pair of high heels or lipstick in sight, instead the author has created a heroine that you can't help but fall for with all her insecurities and painful past. As for the hero I found I fell for him more as the story progressed, Zach is the typical arrogant play boy but with the added like ability of a huge heart. I loved the story line Miss Croft created, there was plenty to keep me interested and the author set the scene well for the romance and relationship to develop. The sex scenes were tempting and it certainly made for some blush worthy moments. Everything about this book was light and easy with just that right amount of desired doubt to create the dramatic effect. All in all a likeable story line with loveable characters and a perfect happy ending that will make you smile till your jaw is aching.

Why not five?
There's going to be nothing that will shock or surprise you about this story. This book is designed for comfort with predictability stamped all over it. The story went along at a steady pace and never really gave me that wow feeling or desire to shout how good is is from the rooftops, but it was enjoyable and a loveable romance that delivers exactly what you'd expect it to.

description

Final thoughts ...
Nina croft won me over with her first book in this series. This author certainly knows how to crank up the heat levels in her novels and she evidently loves romance. If you need a predictable fix that will leave you smiling then I'm sure this will be for you. If you like the sound of lighthearted novel with a heroine that's just begging to be loved then go grab this on release day. Enjoy, kisses.

After injuring herself at a bomb site on field,Leutinent Danielle Sincler decides to temporarily take up a security gig to pass time while waiting for her routine physical exam and re-enlisting back to the army.For her job,She had counted on babysitting her client,who just happens to be a rich,man-whoring playboy all right.But what she didn't count on was falling in utter lust with him.

What I thought about: Quick,fun & Sexy..This read was EXACTLY what I needed to wind down for the weekend.Loved everything about this book from the plot-line,to the characters..to the dialogue.
Even though the story-line sounded like something I've read before,It still managed to suprisingly stay fresh and deliver a fun read with lots of drama and hilarity.

And the male lead ! Zachary Hunter ! *sign* That man gets a star all on his own ! ;)

Danni Glanced up."Who's there ?"
"The man of your dreams,sweetheart."

Plot-wise,this book initially earned a 3 from me.But the last 20% and the lead characters pulled through well in the end and managed to earn another star from me.

Final Thoughts: The only thing this book lacked was a decent ending/epilogue.Felt like it ended too abruptly and sudden.

Recommended to all readers in search of a fun,light-hearted sexy weekend read :)

3 light and steamy Stars

While I can't say that I loved this book, it was a very enjoyable and satisfying read. It just had the few extra elements I typically like that would have brought this up to 4 or 5 stars for me.

After reading that blurb, I was completely sold. A rich playboy Hollywood heartthrob and a take no shit army heroine? Hell yes! And it sucked me right in to the story from the very first few pages. Not every day you walk in to find your new client passed out naked in his pool with an equally naked blonde. It's bound to make a hell of an impression, right?

Zachary was my kind of hero. He didn't even have to speak and I knew this. Just one line about his glorious tanned ass and I.Was.Sold. What can I say? I'm easy like that.

I also enjoyed the reversal of roles here, and have Danielle be the broken one that avoids love and relationships. She was sassy with a smart mouth on her that never failed to entertain.

So what kept it from being a 5 star for me? When you have two characters like Zach and Danielle, I was really looking forward to the sexual tension, the burn, the buildup. Dani is a virgin and knows to avoid men like Zach at all costs. Besides that, there's also the obvious, he's her client. She really CAN'T go there, can she? I couldn't wait to read that push and pull between them. That's my favorite part in books like this. But I really felt that Dani gave in too quickly and too easily, all things considered.

I loved the way Zach pursued and ultimately seduced her, but I just wanted a little bit more.

Ultimately it was a light, somewhat fluffy yet verra steamy book. I loved the story and I was engrossed enough to keep reading. There was a part at the end where Dani did something that made me wish I could reach through my Kindle and strangle the ever loving hell out of her. I just couldn't believe she would do it the way that she did. But the ending was cute enough to have me (mostly) overlook that.

If you're looking for a light yet steamy read that has all those Brazen-y elements we know and love, I'd recommend this one. It was a satisfying book, though not one I see myself coming back to and re-reading.

This was my first book by Nina Croft, and she certainly got herself a new fan. I will be happily checking out all her future books. I also plan on going back and reading book 1 in the series, since a lot of my friends really liked it. So as you can see, this one can easily be read as a standalone, though the characters from the first book appear again here. There was plenty of background given that I was never lost or confused.

4 - Angel & Spike Stars.

Out of Control is book 2 in the Babysitting The Billionaire Series by the wonderful Nina Croft. I love that this series if written by a British author, and all of the Britishisms that we are given as a result of it. Although in the main Out of Control is set in Spain, we do get to venture back to the UK for Jake and Kim’s wedding amongst other things.

We were introduced to Dani Sinclair, in Losing Control (book 1), being one of Kim and Jess’s friends and work colleagues. Out of Control gives us her story, as well as introducing us to the delicious Zach Hunter, author and all-round hottie, with one of my all time favourite things......A hairy chest (not Gorilla, but just enough that you want to rub yourself up against him like a pussy-cat!)

All she knew of love was pain and loss.

What I liked about this story the most is we are given two strong personalities, and although Dani is battling a few personal demons and Zach is a commitment-phobe, with a penchant for the ladies their narrative didn’t get bogged down with unnecessary angst or drama. Dani, has a pre-conceived image of what she believes Zach is, but it soon becomes obvious to her that he is not just the “playboy asshole” she initially judged him as. Their dissimilarities are what actually make them a great couple; I loved the jokes about her size, the likening to Tinkerbell, the dogs.

She awoke protective instincts he would have sworn didn’t exist.

Their chemistry is explosive, and as I have come to expect as a now fully fledged Brazen-Addict (sorry for stealing your name Lisa Jayne xx), you are given a hugely entertaining, sometimes funny, poignant, thrill-ride of a story.

Zach – “Christ, I need to kiss you. And more.”

The secondary characters in this series are also all really well developed, which I am hoping will give scope for lots more books in this series in the future, although I have everything crossed that Jess will be the next one Nina offers up a story for. Another brilliant addition to the Brazen catalogue.

Zachary Hunter is a writer who finds himself threatened over one of his books - seems that there were some folks that are offended by his take on organized crime and are looking to make him an example. A dead one. So Zach lets his friend Jake set him up with a few bodyguards. Danielle “Dani” Sinclair, is a petite little dynamo whose first impression of Zach isn’t the greatest - since he’s floating in a pool, naked with a blond wrapped around him. Zach’s what we like to call a man-hoe. He loves women—as long as they don’t want more than a little fun in the bedroom. So when he sees Dani, she isn’t what he expects or wants. But he cannot stay away from her. Dani was hurt in an explosion during her time in the military and is rehabbing, hoping to pass her physical and re-enter the Army, so she’s taken on this security detail to pass the time until then. Zach’s not what she expected - but is he everything she needs?

The Good
I’ve never read anything by Ms. Croft before, and when I saw it on amazon, I figured it was an inexpensive read and took a chance. I really liked the idea of a female bodyguard, especially someone who worked with dogs. To think of someone petite like Dani (who’s 5’1”) protecting Zach was a play on the usual standard of the muscled male hero protector. There were some decent dialogue between them, and I think there was chemistry between them. Zach is funny and sweet and his attraction and eventual love for Dani was appealing. While scared of commitment, he eventually realizes how much he wants Dani and doesn’t shy away from it.

The Not So Good
The book suffers from a lack of detail. I also didn’t know that this wasn’t the first book in the series, so if there was any character development for Dani and the other bodyguards there, it definitely affected my enjoyment here.

The premise is sketched out but never filled in. Zach is developed fairly well, but Dani felt too much like a cipher. For example, Dani works with the dogs, but other than running with or petting them, there’s no information regarding what would go into training the dogs or why it’s her specialty. I didn’t even realize that she was from England and served there until very late in the book. She’s a virgin, but she’s essentially mute during their sexual encounters and there was a disconnect between them as a result. It felt more like Zach was attracted and Zach was interested, Dani just let him do stuff. There was something made out of one of the other bodyguards, Simon, having a crush on Dani. You never see any evidence of it, except for a passing description of a frown here or there.

It’s an interesting idea that didn’t quite click for me. I may give this another shot, if I get a chance to read the first book in the series.

3.5 Protection, Healing, Recognition Stars * * * 1/2

As time passes, we have all recognized the sacrifice and dedication our Armed Services have experienced. This is reflected in many ways; the news talks about our Veterans, employers are hopefully giving special consideration in hiring, and there has also been a huge influx of stories written with Veterans as main characters performing in many different careers. Security and Bodyguard needs in today's world has actually become common place, so it is a natural transition for Vets to segue into these fields. With this happening, Nina Croft came up with something unique, in my opinion. She gave us Danielle Sinclair.

Danielle or Dani, as she was known, was in the Army... served well and was injured. She is in the process of healing her leg and getting her body back into shape so she can return. In order to go back, she must pass the required physical and endurance tests. She has a limited time and just needs to focus. Her buddies from when she served have a security firm which caters to all types of needs. Right now Jake needs Danielle to handle a situation right up her alley... a big time, high profile writer/producer of films has been getting all kinds of threats due to the last film he did... it seems the subject matter ticked off a couple of fractions; the mafia and bikers as to the film's accuracy. Because Danielle has a particular talent... Jake has set her up to go to Spain and cover and protect this man, Zachery.

The target of these threats, Zachery Hunter, refuses police protection... he doesn't want these cowards to think he is scared... yet he has taken the advice of those who are in the know... and secured protection from Jake's company. He has been informed his new bodyguard, Dani will be arriving and ready to meet. He, of course, assumes Dani is a guy. When he sees a petite, attractive redhead emerging from the guesthouse near the pool, he figures this gal must be with either his other bodyguards, Simon or Gary. He makes his way over... eyes her up and down and makes a couple of flirtatious statements with the intent of hopefully acting on them .. which would be in keeping with his playboy" reputation, after all. Just when things are about to get snippy between the both of them... Gary walks up to introduces Dani as the new addition watching out for Zach... He is stunned and insults her by calling Dani "Tinker Bell"... and cannot see her as the specialist needed to protect him.

Tempers flare... words are spoken and right off, the both of them are ready to call it quits. It seems Dani is "the expert" in canine security and special dogs have been shipped over to be used to protect Zach from any bombs or situations which may occur. Dani's handling of these animals is highly skilled and she was trained and used in this capacity in the service.

What happens next is not surprising... there is a chemistry which develops between the two characters. We watch Zach become attached and attracted to Dani. He is very clear in this attraction and doesn't promise any real relationship. Dani has her own issues as the Army has been her family and comfort for more than 10 years... can she actually make it outside that environment... as it is the only one she knows....

What I liked about this story was the incorporation of Dani and how she had been at a crossroads in her life. She went through a personal arc.... trying to see if she could fit in with civilians and live in that world. I also liked the presentation of the canine unit for security.... understanding how important they have been in the Armed Services...and how their special training and handlers develop the bonds they do. The ending was a little rushed with the conclusion happening and everything tied up in a pretty bow.... but over all the read went fast and I was entertained.

Nina Croft gave us characters who needed to live and and share their lives with each other... we got to experience the development and questioning if this could take place.

This is the second book in this wicked awesome series and it is Dani's story.

We met "Sargent Danielle Sincliar" in the first book as she is friends with Kim and her fiance Jake. Dani was injured by a bomb in Afghanistan and is home recuperating before she re-enlists to go back.

Jake urges her to take on one of his cases, "babysitting" a writer who is being targeted by someone who did not like one of his previous movies which ended up causing quite a stir.

The assignment takes Dani to Spain along with 2 other bodyguards where she meets the illustrious playboy Zachary Hunter, sunning himself in the pool naked with a equally naked blonde.

Zach's playboy status is widely known and as long as no-one expects anything from him in the line of a commitment then he is happy to keep his encounters strictly to the bedroom.

Dani is immediately attracted to Zach, but she learned along time ago, not to get attached to anyone, so she is doing her hardest to ensure that she does not spend to much time around him - quite a hard feat when she is meant to be "looking" out for him. Not to mention his "sexist" attitude with regards to her protecting him.

Zach is none to happy himself with his attraction to the feisty little redhead, but he cant quite keep his hands to himself, not to mention his strong desire to protect a women, who is more than capable of protecting herself.

This is a fun, lighthearted story of 2 people that are going to have to overcome lots of obstacles with regards to each other in order to attain their HEA....

I love a story that's just easy!
Easy to get swept away with.
Easy to laugh & sigh with.
Easy to enjoy, leaving you happy & smiling.
And with Out of Control, that's exactly what I got!
Maybe I'm an easy girl to please, but this one did the trick.

4 STARS

I really love a book where the hero and heroine get off to a less than stellar start and in Out of Control by Nina Croft that’s exactly what happens, in addition they sexual tension between the two of them is off the chart. The hero underestimates the heroine and visa versa and they end up spending time getting to know one another in every way. Along the way they discover all kind of interesting things about one another and begin to realize that while they planned to keep their relationship simple, their minds and hearts have something totally different in store for them. Entertaining, sexy, smart, and suspenseful makes Out of Control one very appealing story.

Dani Sinclair on leave from her job in the army following a bomb explosion that tore up her leg finds herself “babysitting” a playboy one who obviously has no problem lying around naked in his pool. Dani is not impressed with her new employer but she’s agreed to help her friend Jake with this assignment and plans to stick it out until they find the people who have threatened the famous author. I admire Dani and her dedication to her profession and the fact that she doesn’t let her small size get in her way. Having a less the stellar childhood, she loves being in the Army and the only thing she wishes for is to past her next physical so she can reenlist. Never letting herself get to close to anyone, she soon finds herself sharing intensely personal things with Zachary Hunter and questioning what she wants next in her life.

Zachary is more than a little confused when he sees Dani for the first time and calling her Tinkerbelle doesn’t win him any points with her. What I love about Zach is he doesn’t play games; he’s upfront and honest about what he wants and his limitations when it comes to relationships. It was amusing to watch how he handled Dani and the unusual feelings he found himself experiencing around her. I also appreciated that he appreciated what a special woman she is and admired her for the things she has accomplished and overcome in her life.

Not getting off on the right foot from the start Zach found himself trying to win Dani over from early on. It quickly became evident to him that she was attracted to him just as he was to her and with his knowledge he managed to get her to succumb to their mutual attraction. While Dani was onboard, she immediately backed off and so did Zach but eventually the heat between them won out and man did they make up for lost time. All the while the threat to Zach is still there and the closer they become the more he wants Dani off his case which leads to many interesting conversations.

This is one of those books that the beginning and middle was so full but I felt a little cheated at the end. It’s not that it didn’t have an HEA but I felt after everything they went through the ending was a little rushed. That being said, Out of Control was a very good story with characters you can’t help but enjoy and a sexy yet suspenseful plot to keep things very, very interesting.

Nina Croft gives you another dish on female badassery through her second installment of her Babysitting the Billionaire series featuring little red Sergeant Dani Sinclair and billionaire writer, Zach Hunter.

Reading the blurb, I love the plot idea. A playboy billionaire and a fierce army heroine? Sign me up!

Reading the first book, Dani had already been introduced as the best friend of then main character, Kim, and now it's her turn. The moment I read about her in the first book, I knew I was going to love her character because for one thing, she's a redhead... and I have a really big bias towards redheads. And secondly, she loves dogs, and she's an army dog handler.

Dani appears to be a tiny redhead, standing at five foot two with a badass, "I don't give a fuck" attitude. If she were an dog, she'd literally be a fierce chihuahua, ready to bite off people.

Having been wounded from her previous army tour, Dani works for Knight Securities for the mean time and is given the job to protect Zach Hunter.

Zach Hunter is as promiscuous as any other Hollywood persona. He likes variety. Blondes, brunettes, redheads; the supermodel types. Tall, gorgeous and absolutely flawless. But the moment he laid his eyes on his tiny, fragile looking bodyguard, he can't get her off his mind.
“Are you telling me Jake sent goddamn Tinker Bell to protect me?”
Zach was not exactly a favorite, but I enjoyed his character. He's pretty much a laidback type of guy, living the bachelor life. But when he starts to fall for Dani, like a drunkard in love, he turns sober and reformed.

I loved the chemistry between Zach and Dani, although it started quite abrupt. And for Dani supposedly to be the type of girl who doesn't give a crap and stands her ground, she gave in quite easily. I was expecting her to be a challenge for Zach to seduce, but perhaps, Zach's just that hot to easily give into.

And not only is the sexual tension between them uber hot, but the drama is also quite thrilling, with Dani's insecurities due to her crappy childhood and protecting Zach's life.

Quick, sexy, a fierce little redhead, and a hot billionaire, with the right amount of drama, what else convincing do you need?

“Maybe it’s the lure of the forbidden.”

A fast-paced love story, Out of Control was a quick read with really likable characters -- a ‘sort-of bodyguard’ and ‘sort-of’ celebrity couple who challenge each other but are pretty combustible together.

“Are you telling me Jake sent goddamn Tinker Bell to protect me?”

For a short read, it sure packed an action-punch and a romantic-caress which got me hooked right from the first page. Well, there’s also a good humor and a fierce attitude especially from Dani and Zach’s sarcastic charm that made me liked this even more.
The no BS attitude she has towards Zach and Zach’s forward and charming ways towards Dani were enjoyable to read.

There were also topics about their past and I admire Nina Croft for blending their drama so well that even though the issues are sensitive, she was able to turn it into an essential part of Dani and Zach’s characters and their relationship as well without having it dragged on and be told as a “sob story” instead. It made them more strong-willed and admirable as individuals.

Aside from the thrill of having to protect Zach and the romance that blossomed because of it and the funny banter between these two characters as they get to know each other, their oh-so-sexy sexy times were really… well… sexy.

Imagine reading a 200+ pages of book but written well and packed everything in without making it feel like it was just compressed and rush.

“I hope I’m not just one in a long line of women you float around with.”
“You’re the last, I’ll never float with anyone else again.”

The only thing I wish Out of Control has is a kick-ass epilogue after that ending! Zach is such a playboy, but a really sweet one!

Stars: 4 stars!

Series: Yes. But standalone
Cliffhanger: No.

This was a great book. I loved the reverse trope: the heroine is the bodyguard and military/ex-military, while the man is the one being protected (and not overly thrilled about it). Another awesome thing: Dani is like 5 foot nothing and can kick butt with the best of the urban-fantasy heroines, even though this is not a paranormal/urban fantasy book. I just feel she could hold her own against pretty much anything.

Zach - Ahhh, gotta love authors. They're great for reading about. He's not too thrilled about having bodyguards and then add in a short redhead and he's pretty much annoyed. But majorly turned on by her because she's gorgeous.

It doesn't take these two long to get past the whole guard/guardee issue, though they do try to keep it on the down-low. That doesn't succeed very well, especially when all of Dani's fellow body-guards feel it necessary to warn Zach off of her, thinking of her like their own little sister.

I found the secondary characters amusing with their protective bent toward Dani, despite Dani's blatant ability to take care of herself. I also really enjoyed Dani's backstory and how she dealt with the nightmare of her past (there's a big tragedy there and my heart hurt for her and what she has to live with).

Zach has the typical bone-head moment in his need to "protect the little woman" despite the fact that she's supposed to be his guard (well, technically she's in charge of the dogs that are meant to protect him, not him directly), but he has a lovely grovel in response to Dani's righteous peeved-offness. Dani holds her own in a traditionally male field and that's completely admirable.

So, not really a big shock considering I now consider myself a rabid Nina Croft fan, 5 stars for this book and wahoo to another fabulous Nina book!

If you have read the first book from the series losing control, you won’t need to read this.

Basically, it’s the same story with different characters. Like Kim, Dani is sexually inexperienced, and like Jake, Zach likes to sleep around.

There are various similarities in the story -
Kim wants to develop her sex life and, in this book, Dani wants to have her first sexual experience.

As in the first book Kim was affected by her mother’s death, in this book Dani brother death has a huge impact on her life.

Even the end was similar both Kim and Dani meet with their fathers at the end of the book to resolve their issues.

It seemed like Nina couldn’t be bothered to write anything original. And again, like her first book Nina focus was good sex fixes everything rather than developing the characters.

The only slight improvement is this book was that Dani an Zach did talk to each other about their past, but still there were too many flaws in the plot.

1. Why does Jake know Dani a virgin?
2. How does Zach not know if he supposed to be a man whore.
3. How did Dani body just respond especially if it was her first time, she may bleed or mostly likely it would have been really painful for her?
4. Then the backstory, if Dani was adopted, why didn’t Dani father not just put her back in the system? It also felt like that her parents’ marriage fell apart because the mom blamed her for her brother death, but if that was the case why did the dad keep her to be indifferent to her?
5. Why didn’t the army contact her father when she was injured? Back then she would have known he didn’t want her in his life.

I just felt there were too many gaps in the story.

I'm a fan of Brazen books.. you always know exactly what kind of story you're gonna get, unfortunately that's not a guarantee that you'll love them all.

And for me, I just didn't love this one.
Not a fan of having our playboy's friends-with-benefits relationship with his accountant stuffed right up under my nose, nor did I get any indication that Dani was at all interested in Zach. He kisses her, and she doesn't respond... at all..

Hmm.. nope. Not a whole lot of chemistry there.

Yeah, it picked up. Her cherry is popped *eye roll*, then he's all about protecting his protector.
Hired as a dog handler for a protection job, Dani was injured in an explosion while on duty in Afghanistan. There's some doubts surrounding her ability to re-enlist, so for now she's stuck babysitting a writer who's pissed off the wrong people in his latest story.

She's not into commitment - thus the whole twenty-seven year old virgin thing - and neither is he. But the pocket rocket red head may be more than he bargained.. yadda yadda yadda...

What's not to like?

Strong female lead ,great guy, wonderful story. Wasn't a long involved book. But it was wonderful. I would certainly read more of her books. Certainly could keep your interest.

Review originally posted at Ramblings From This Chick

Out of Control is the second book in Nina Croft's Babysitting a Billionaire series, and I really enjoyed it. I had liked the first book in this series, but for me this one was better. These are standalones with interconnected characters, and I really enjoyed getting to know Dani and Zach. It was nice to see Jake and Kim from the first book though as well.

Dani was injured on her last deployment and has been taking it easy while she heals. She goes to work for her friend Jake, and he assigns her to protect a friend of his. Zachary Hunter made some enemies out of the wrong people, and has been threatened. When Dani shows up to work, she immediately labels him a playboy asshole when she finds him naked and floating in the pool with a blonde on his arm. Zach is surprised that his friend Jake would send such a small woman to protect him, and doesn't help things when he makes that known. But the more that Zach is around Dani, the more he is drawn to her. Dani is attracted to Zach, but it determined to remain professional. Zach however has other ideas and pursues her relentlessly. Before long the chemistry between them is more than either can fight and they decide to be together until their time runs out. But when the job is over and Zach is safe, will Dani reenlist or will her future have been changed by the relationship that they have started to build?

I liked Zach. He had definitely earned his playboy reputation, and at first glance it appears as though Dani had him pegged correctly. But once you start to get to know his character better, you see that he is actually thoughtful and caring and a really good guy. He was athletic and sexy, but he was also really smart and I loved that he was a writer. He was honest and up-front, and I liked that he was really understanding when it came to everything that Dani had issues with. He was patient and let her explain things in her own time, and he was always really supportive. It was great to see him being so fun-loving and playful and he really got her to loosen up and come out of her shell. I liked Dani, but she had several issues. She had lost her brother and felt a ton of guilt over it, and her parents weren't great either. Then she joins the Army and ends up getting injured and having to deal with all of that. It wasn't surprising that it took her awhile to open up to others and that she tended to make assumptions rather quickly. I did like that she was able to open up to Zach though, and she really started to heal and get over things with his help. I liked that she wasn't just a soldier in the Army though, but that she was also a dog trainer and operator. There is something fascinating to me about someone who is able to handle animals that way and their commitment to those animals. Dani was strong and capable, and I liked seeing a heroine that wasn't a typical girly girl. Dani and Zach had a ton of chemistry together, and I thought it was great that she was so unlike the girls that he would normally be attracted to. These two were really hot together, and I thought that they were absolutely perfect for each other. They just fit the other and were the balance that the other needed.

Overall, I really liked this story and it was a book that I was able to really get invested in. I liked the characters and I thought that they were each unique and different, and weren't like others that I have read before. The story was good if a bit predictable, but honestly that didn't bother me. I was able to just enjoy it for what it was, and it left me happy and smiling. The pacing and writing were great, and I have come to find that Nina Croft always entertains. This book is definitely worth the read, and I think that anyone looking for a good lighthearted read with some heat and strong characters will really enjoy this one. I look forward to reading more from Nina Croft in the future, and can't wait to see what she writes next. If you haven't read any of Nina Croft's Babysitting a Billionaire series yet, I recommend that you give this one a shot.

I knew going into this book that it had a lot going for it. It had so many of the things I love: one character is a writer, one character is in the army, and there’s dogs. Add to that a fun twist: the hero’s the author (hello, Castle?) and the heroine’s the soldier—and you know it’s going to be a fun ride.

(Plus, when we first see the hero he’s lying naked in his pool. That’s always a good sign, IMHO. ;))

Out of Control definitely did not disappoint. It’s the second in Croft’s Babysitting a Billionaire series, but it can be read as a standalone. The hero and heroine of book one make just enough of an appearance here to make sure you want to read their book as well (sigh…Losing Control’s already in my TBR. Naturally).

The banter between the hero and heroine—even when they don’t get along (or maybe especially when they don’t get along!) was fantastic.

“Jake said he was sending out some specialist. An ex–army sergeant. This is my specialist?” He waved a hand in Dani’s direction. “Are you telling me Jake sent goddamn Tinker Bell to protect me?”

Tinker Bell?

Dani gritted her teeth under the incredulous stare. Taking a deep breath, she clamped her mouth shut and counted to ten. It wasn’t nearly enough.

Gary grinned. “Dani’s not actually out here to protect you personally.”

“Well, that’s a relief,” Zach replied.

“Not that I couldn’t,” Dani muttered, her fists clenching at her side, “if I actually wanted to.”

“So what is it she’s here to do?” he asked Gary, almost as if she wasn’t there and wasn’t quite capable of telling him herself.
Jerk.

She should be cool and drop it, but she couldn’t leave it alone. “Is it because you don’t think a woman can protect you? Or because you don’t like the idea?” She kept her voice reasonable, but it was an effort.

“No, it’s because you look like I could push you over with one finger.”

She leaned toward him, eyes narrowed. “Just try it.”

His gaze had dropped to where her robe gaped open at the front, revealing the curve of her breasts, and she straightened abruptly. What was is about this man that put her back up? After ten years in the army, she’d thought herself immune to any sexist comments that came her way, but for some reason he was needling her. She caught the glint in his eyes and had a horrible suspicion that he knew exactly how much he was pissing her off.

Gary peered from her to their boss. Obviously he considered it time to put a stop to whatever was going on. He cleared his throat to get their attention. “Dani’s a dog handler,” he said. “The best there is,” he added for good measure as Zach continued to look skeptical.

“Well that would be really nice…” Zach paused, lounging back against the balustrade behind him, arms folded across his chest, gaze still fixed firmly on her. “If I had a dog.”

“You will tomorrow,” Gary said. “Two, in fact. They’re arriving by plane in the morning.”

“I don’t like dogs.”

“No problem.” Dani gave a careless lift of one shoulder. “I’ll phone up and cancel the dogs, and I’ll get out of here. I’m sure Jake’s got somebody else I can babysit.” She put as much scorn as she could into the word and Gary winced. “Or maybe I’ll stay out here and take a vacation. Move to the coast, find a hotel, lay on the beach somewhere.”

Oh, and bonus—those two dogs? Yeah, they’re named Spike and Angel. Even Mini Moe #2 was impressed by that one. ;)

Overall this was a light and quick read, and very enjoyable. (There's just something about the reformed playboy, isn't there? Everybody wants one.) The writing was fun, the romance was steamy, and there were dogs—the well-behaved fictional kind, of course. My favorite.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date April 28, 2014

She’s a challenge he can’t resist.

Hollywood heartthrob Zachary Hunter loves women—as long as they don’t want more than a little fun in the bedroom. When his most recent movie stirs up the wrong kind of attention, the kind that includes an attempt on his life, he hires a friend’s company to locate the threat. The pint-sized redhead assigned to protect him isn’t what he expects—or wants. Worse, he can’t take his eyes off of her.

After ten years in the army, Danielle Sinclair knows how to handle men. With a new security gig to pass the time until she’s cleared to return to the military, she’s figures her sexy new client will be easy to manage. And then he opens his gorgeous mouth, and she can’t decide whether to kiss him or kill him. His sex appeal may tempt her into his bed, but his sexist attitude is unbearable, and she’s going to make him eat every single word…

~~~~~~
REVIEW: OUT OF CONTROL is the second instalment in Nina Croft’s contemporary, adult Babysitting A Billionaire series. This is author Zachary Hunter and army sergeant Danielle Sinclair’s storyline. Although this is the second in the series, it can be read as a stand alone without too much difficulty.
The storyline follows Dani and her fellow former army veterans as they are hired to protect and guard best selling author Zachary Hunter. With the upcoming annual awards ceremony approaching Zach’s life has been threatened through social media, letter bombs and threatening emails. Dani and her bomb sniffing dogs are front and center when it comes to Zach’s safety but little did they know that it would be Dani and Zach’s hearts in terrible danger. Dani is currently on medical leave from the army and she is bound and determined to reenlist when she gets the all clear from her doctor.
There is an immediate attraction between Dani and Zach but Dani is a tough nut to crack. She is almost cold; aloof and without emotion. There is something in Dani’s past she is trying to protect but with it comes a hardened demeanor –both inside and out. Dani Sinclair is a difficult heroine to warm up to-she doesn’t scream sensual, sexy or remotely approachable but all of her friends and co-workers are very protective of the petite female who has closed off her heart to the possibility of love.
The secondary characters include Kim and Jake (Loosing Control Book 1) and a few of Dani’s co-workers and friends. Each adds a little bit of background information about Dani but the truth about her past is revealed from the woman-herself.
Nina Croft pulls the reader into a storyline where opposites attract. Zach is a bit of a man-whore whose experience in the bedroom is infamous and Dani is a woman whose first sexual experience is with the man she has been hired to protect.
OUT OF CONTROL is a well paced, predictable and enjoyable storyline. My only complaint is the heroine’s lack of emotion-her demeanor and attitude were definitely not inviting in the early stages of the book and it took this reader a while to warm up to her personality and character.
Nina Croft is an author whose work I have only recently discovered and if honest it's her paranormal stories that float my boat but having enjoyed those so much I could not resist giving this book a go. I'm going to describe it as a contemporary romance rather than a romantic suspense though because for this reader that's the way it felt .
Dani is a dog handler and has been in the army more then ten years but her life has just taken a dramatic turn. She's been in an horrific explosion and until cleared as fit to return to duty needs to stay occupied . Now luckily her old friend has a security job that could use her talents but meeting the rich spoilt guy she's supposed to help protect awakens Dani's previously apathetic desires.
Zach is a writer and the darling of Hollywood but his recent storyline has seen him upsetting the wrong people. Now he's being threatened and has reluctantly agreed to round the clock protection . What he wasn't expecting was a pint sized hellion who drives him insane! Somehow he has to get under her skin because she sure is getting under his! Zach is used to the ladies flocking around but Dani is an irresistible challenge that he just can't turn down.
Although I love this author I really didn't expect too much from this book and so I'm pleasantly surprised. It's a very simple storyline which is far more character driven then plot if I'm brutally honest but sometimes there's nothing wrong with that. It's a nice easy read that just flows along although the romance does hot up pretty quick but I hated the heroine Dani's lack of experience with men. She's a mature woman working in what's still considered by many a mans world so for this reader it didn't quite fit. Having said that when things hot up it's a pretty steamy read and will delight many readers.
Interesting supporting characters and I feel there could be stories featuring those but for this reader Dani stole the show. She's a woman with a backstory whereas unfortunately the hero Zach seemed to lack depth. Oh don't get me wrong he's front and centre meant to get the girl but in spite of his "talent" and devotion to Dani I just felt disappointed . Having said that though he does something when he finds out Dani is dyslexic that melted my heart.
Well written and I read it in one sitting so it clearly held my attention. Part of a series but works easily as a standalone . This author is certainly one to watch out for although this particular book was a bit too predictable for me. If you want a happy ending though then this book certainly delivers .
This is a great story with a smart, sassy and very independent though slightly broken heroine, Dani Sinclair. An army sergeant who was injured in a blast and awaiting medical clearance to get back to the only place she's ever felt comfortable and as though she belonged. In the meantime, she agrees to be part of the protection team for Zachary Hunter, famous writer and ladies man, who angered the wrong people with the depictions and storyline of his latest book.
Dani's first sight of him is as he is laying facedown naked on a large air mattress wrapped around an equally naked blonde in the middle of his pool. She might not have the best impression of his habits, but can't help but like what she sees. Zach is tall, gorgeous, with an athletic body, and charm to spare. He is also arrogant and used to having anything he wants, including women, and he wants the prickly little redhead even if she does tell him she thinks he's nothing but an asshole playboy.
Dani tries to resist Zach's pursuit, but he is undaunted. It helps that they are all but secluded at his beautiful villa in Spain, a perfect place for a romantic seduction. Dani finally accepts her intense attraction to Zach and decides this little break away from her normal reality is the perfect time to have a romantic interlude and gain a little experience, something she is completely lacking, and who better than an insanely hot, sexy man?
This is definitely a case of opposites attracting, but it works. Despite Dani's tough facade, Zach sees through to her vulnerabilities and it brings out a strong protective instinct in him. He also likes that she's not after what he has, she only wants him for his body and sexual skills. That is until he begins to care for her and finds he doesn't like knowing she could walk away and not look back, even though that's what he's done with countless women before her. In Zach, Dani finds a comfort, affection and acceptance she's been craving. I liked both characters very much and was happy to see them get their HEA.
I enjoyed reading OUT OF CONTROL by Nina Croft, the second book in her Babysitting a Billionaire series. It brings in characters from the first book in the series, which I have not read, in such a way that adds to the main story and provides insight without making the reader feel like they missing important details. 4 stars
Review. . . Out of Control
I am having the hardest time writing a review for this book and I just can’t figure out why. This is my third and final attempt.  It was a good book and I liked it. I didn’t love it, but it was good. I think, there were just more things about it that I didn’t like than those I did.
This is the second book in the Babysitting a Billionaire series and books like this are the very reason I avoid reading out of order in a series. Dani and several other secondary characters were introduced to me as if I should automatically know who they are. The only back story I received on Dani related to why she was working as a private sector security agent. She has left the army and is waiting on a clearance physical so that she can re-enlist. To what army though? What country? The majority of this story takes place in Spain, but I don’t believe that Dani is Spanish. She’s redheaded and freckled. But then, she goes to the wedding of her good friend (who is also the owner of the security firm) which is held in Scotland. So, is she a citizen of the UK? I’m still confused. The good friend who is getting married, his fiancé and another character are brought in here. No back story at all. I have no idea how they work in this story or why they’re even there, other than Dani was invited to the wedding.
Zach is portrayed as a Hollywood playboy who is only interested in the next willing woman. He’s a writer who is receiving death threats. This is where Dani comes in. For protection.
Sigh . . .This was a really well written book. The sentences flowed smoothly, the dialogue wasn’t all over the place and the characters seemed real enough. But, I just didn’t like either of them. Zack seems to think that his multi watt smile can get him any woman he wants and Dani has a huge chip on her shoulder.
For me, when I review a book, I review it as myself (my likes and dislikes) and then as an overall contribution to the literary world as a whole. I try to keep my pet peeves and the other silly little things that bother me to the back of my mind and think more along the lines of how it was actually written. I don’t want the things that are personal dislikes for me to keep another reader from reading the story.
I would recommend this book to others with a strong preface that it should be read only after reading the first book. I’m going to read the first book as well, and then re-read this one.
MICHELLE'S REVIEW
I just love Brazen books. They never let me down. Out of Control by Nina Croft was yet another great read.
I didn't read the first book but you don't need to in order to enjoy this story. Of course I want to read it because I want to know more about Kim and Jake.
But for now- I'll focus on Dani and Zach.
Dani is all military seriousness. She is forced to take a leave of absence from active duty and so that she can keep busy, her friend Jake gives her an assignment helping to protect Zach, who is being watched and threatened by the mob.
This book really wasn't about the suspense of the drama that Zach is facing which I was surprised about. This was all about Zach and Dani and really about Dani facing her fear of letting herself love someone.
Dani is convinced everyone she loves will be taken away from her. Her story is so sad and I have to say, I loved that Nina was creative with Dani's backstory. There is a lot of stuff she could have done and she really created something different in Dani's past that I thought was both interesting and heart breaking.
I loved Zach. He was direct and to the point but he didn't really play games. He sees Dani and he's just all about her. And despite what she thinks- he's not really a player. When he focuses, that one woman gets his attention. Sure- he's rich and good looking and has fun where he can- but when he wants to be with someone- he doesn't hold back.
I don't always love a story where the man isn't the one running. I don't know why but it makes me so mad at the woman- maybe because a good man is hard to find.
BUT I really liked the fact that Dani was the skeptic throughout the majority of this book. It worked for the story and really, it fit her character.
This isn't a revolutionary new romance novel but it is so solid, has a wonderful HEA and some great sex along the way.
If you're looking for a quick read that will leave you satisfied- look no further!
Out of Control, Nina Croft.
Review from jeannie zelos book reviews
So, I’ve enjoyed several of Nina's paranormal novels and thought this contemporary romance sounded fun. It was :)
Dani is on leave after an injury while fighting in Afghanistan. She's taking a light job in security in Spain taking charge of the dogs, as writer Zach has had death threats.
She and Zach get off to a bad start when the senior bodyguard is taking her to be introduced...Zach is in the pool, naked, along with a lithe blonde. Dani's read about his playboy ways and this just enforces her view of him as a playboy ar sehole...
Zach sees her and feels an odd sensation that he needs to protect her. That's not him, he's Mr friendly, Mr no commitment, and the ladies all know that – he's friends with many of his ex-es and the blonde is his accountant, along for a ride ;-) She knows its going nowhere, just a fun fling.
Somehow Dani and Zach end up getting closer, after having several vocal spats where she thinks he's belittling her because of her sex and size, ( she's tiny) and in fact for him its just this odd feeling he has about her that wants her kept out of any danger. He gives in one day to the building attraction between them, and kisses her and from there they get closer, and closer. Dani thinks he's a good way to get the Virginity problem out of the way, knows he's not up for long term and that suits her fine. She wants to re enlist once she's fit enough. The Army is her family, its all she knows, having had a troubled childhood she feels she fits there and has no where else to go. Zach finds that though they planned to keep it light, his feelings are getting deeper and he's falling in love, then just as Dani is giving in to her feelings too and thinking maybe they could work out somehow, he does something that throws everything awry. She's devastated and...drama all round.
Its a fun read, not deep and dramatic but pretty light and fluffy, with some great humour, lots of hot sex and enough action to keep it interesting. It's priced at £2.84 for 197 pages and a fun read.
Why I Read this Book: I’m a sucker for a celebrity/commoner romance. I also like a tough-as-nails heroine, which Danielle definitely is.
What I Liked: I liked both lead characters. Nothing but true emotions from Zach, and it felt genuine. He’s a commitment-phobe and doesn’t change overnight. He continually questions their relationship – how long will it last, how will it last, how can they both make it work? Dani’s got strong character and self-control. Even under anger-inducing times, she reacted reasonably and didn’t let pent up emotions hinder take over.
What I Didn’t Like: Their relationship was a bit on the insta-love side, which is not my favorite trope. And Zach and Dani’s first time together didn’t seem realistic in a certain aspect. I don’t want to give the details away but I will say that it wasn’t entirely believable.
I’m okay with the story being more focused on the romance, however I wish there would have been more information about the person(s) making the threats on Zach’s life.
Memorable Moment:
“You don’t think I’m strong enough? You don’t think I could take you?” She took a step toward him and poked him in the chest. Hard.
He unfolded his arms and straightened away from the desk. She wanted a fight? Maybe he should give her one. “No. I don’t think a woman can take a man. The size is too different.” He cast his eyes down her tiny figure and drawled, “You’re too small.”
Her eyes narrowed to slits. Then she spun around and high-kicked him in the chest. He went to the floor with a crash and lay staring up at the ceiling. Shit. That hurt, and not just his male pride.
Overall Impression: Out of Control was an enjoyable read, though I found myself wanting more information about the people threatening Zach’s life. I definitely want to read Losing Control, the first book in this series, since it’s Jake and Kim’s story and theirs is a friends-to-lovers romance, which I love to read.
Out of Control is just the light romance I needed. Which, is what I expect from a Brazen. A quick, sexy & steamy, yet predictable read that left me with a content sigh.
I didn't realize at first signed up for the tour that this was the second book in he Babysitting a Billionaire series. But don't worry, it can be read as a standalone.
What I loved about this one was how the female main character, Dani, was the tough, bad ass protector. She is a soldier, injured during one of her tours in Afghanistan. Working for a private security detail until she is cleared for re-enlistment, she meets her new client; the sexy Zach. Zach, a famous author and now a target on his back, has an unmistakable attraction to Dani that he can't seem to shake. With her blasé attitude, he works to build down her walls.
Dani is sassy and fun. She has a fear of losing the ones she loves, so she keeps people at arm's length to protect herself. Her past is sad, and I can see why she would keep others away. Zach too, has a fear of commitment but for other reasons. These two were very good together, but yet had were different in so many ways. Zach was hard to like at first, because he did seem a little sexist, but I think it was more his pride more than anything.
My Peeve
Although overall, I did enjoy this, I didn't feel the usual sexual tension build up for these two. Their relationship starts off physical at first, leaving that anticipation for the "first time" a little anticlimactic. Also, we get into the reasons behind both their insecurities, but it wasn't deep enough to sate my curiosity.
Overall
I really enjoyed Out of Control. I loved the role switch, and contrary to popular belief, I do like sweet & steamy romances every once in a while. I recommend it!
